This park is truly a breath of fresh air! After dropping mom off at her Dr's appt we had some time to explore while we wait. Close to the beach, it offers a peaceful atmosphere and spacious areas perfect for picnics. With a workout station, playground, a basketball court, a section for skaters, and a doggie area, there's something for everyone. It's also conveniently located near the Billie Jean King Main Library and within walking distance to numerous eateries along Broadway. Lincoln Park is both the oldest and newest park in Long Beach. It was designated the first park in Long Beach in 1880, was recently renovated and reopened in February 2022. The park is located in Downtown Long Beach on Ocean and Pacific next to Billie Jean King Library. It is a beautiful park dedicated to the memory of our 16th US president. The park is beautiful and there is a statue of Abe Lincoln and a large penny- great location for taking pictures. The park features a modern playground, dog park, skate park, and lots of fitness equipment. It would be a much better park if it weren't for all the homeless individuals hanging around there and camping out around the library nearby. I would recommend checking out the park during the day. read more

Lincoln Park, which was named after the U.S. President, was founded in 1880, but it was renovated and reopened in February 2022. Current amenities include a playground (monkey bars, swings, and slides), mechanical fitness machines, turf fields for sports, dog parks, a basketball court, a skate park, and a Lincoln statue and penny. The Billie Jean King Main Library is located immediately nearby. Because the park is so new, during my recent visit, all of the structures looked to be in excellent condition. The main highlight for me was the 13-foot-tall Lincoln penny. I had fun standing next to it. (See my photo!) As another reviewer has already noted, this park can attract people who are there for other reasons, such as homeless people. I visited during daylight and did not feel unsafe. read more

Recently renovated, Lincoln Park has reopened in front of the downtown Long Beach library. It's a great public space with an iconic penny signaling the beginning of the park. I love how it leads up to the public library, which is really a beautiful building. In the park, there are basketball courts, workout machines, monkey bars, and a ton of open space to hang out. Noticed places for bike locks, but seemed to be missing a good amount of picnic tables. Either way; it's a nice little park and I definitely recommend walking through it if you're downtown! They did a really great job with what they had available. Don't get me wrong, the new space looks great and is a huge step up from what it was previously. They have workout machines, a sizeable children's area on turf, 2 different dog parks, a fun little skate park, and who doesn't love that giant penny selfie spot. I haven't been in the new Billie Jean King Library yet, but from the outside, it looks gorgeous. Bravo to the planners and builders on all those points. The downside of this specific space is it can still attract some unsavory elements because of its proximity to downtown and riverbed area. Even at noon on a Sunday, there we 3 guys smoking weed on the edge of the skate park and some campers around the park edges. I ain't made at them. We will always have homeless in Long Beach. They have as much of a right to be in the park as anyone else. Just keep that in mind. It can end up as part of the experience when you visit. read more

From a kids play area to small skate park, workout equipment to basketball court, a large grassy area for relaxing, 2 separate dog parks (one for small dogs, one for larger dogs), and restrooms. Yes, Lincoln Park is back, FINALLY! You might say it took awhile, but wow was it worth it. It's great the Billie Jean King Main Library now as a beautiful park to compliment its architectural beauty. This newly renovated park located at the corner of Pacific Ave and W Ocean Blvd was literally rebuilt from the ground up. This quaint little park comes with a playground, skatepark, basketball court, dog park, restrooms and plenty of benches to sit and people watch. Hopefully the city will find a way to keep it safe and clean for the young and old to continue enjoy for years to come. Now it's your turn: borrow a book from the library and find yourself a spot to get lost in a good read at the new Lincoln Park. read more

Went here with my son on a Friday. I will say that there is a lot of homeless around the whole park which made me feel uneasy. It looks like there is lack in upkeep of the play structures as well, very nice but looked very dirty. It would be such a nice park if these things were not in the way. Most likely will not be returning. read more

The park was a great concept, but its quickly turning into what it was before the renovation, a camp ground for the homeless. There are homeless people staged everywhere, sleeping, yelling, seen someone taking a dump behind a bench. The bathrooms are occupied hours at a time while 2-3 vagrants are inside doing god-knows-what. The little time that they did have Security, 1 guard would hide in the bathroom while the other guard left the premises to go eat food, and then they would switch every hour. I was excited about this park initially but at this point its quickly becoming a nuisance to anyone who isn't homeless. read more

Love taking our toddler here, new playground with shade and plenty of parking nearby. The library is also new and has a wonderful kids/toddler area. The field has a few activities your can check-out, (ie frisbee, connect four, corn hole, balls etc) and the staff is super friendly. Only complaint is that the bathrooms are usually closed or occupied by transients so we use the restroom inside the library. read more

Fun little skatepark! Flatbar, ledges & some mini ramps. If you're looking for bowls & transition this park isn't it. Bathrooms nearby but NO shade to sit. The park has slowly been deteriorating since its opening. I live within walking distance and last summer, the park was a great place to take my child. We would walk to the library and afterward, stop in the park to play. However, the park is slowly becoming a homeless encampment. There are tents littering the grass area and surrounding the library. Although the park is so close to me, I refuse to allow my daughter to play in the middle of a homeless encampment for various safety and sanitary reasons. read more

I love this park. It has very good size and has two sections, one for small dogs and one for large dogs. Overall it seems very quiet and clean but at night seems to be unsafe. I like it also because it has lots of grass and now no longer parks have that. read more

My girlfriend and I came here with our dog Jilly for a chance of pace, mostly because we go to the dog park on 7th street or the dog beach. Having said that you may be asking why only 3 stars: PROs: Location in downtown is nice, it's all well kept grass (freshly cut when we were there), two separate places for small vs. large dogs and a beautiful view of downtown while your dog is playing. CONs: No doggy poop bags (which is almost essential because Long Beach has outlawed plastic bags), parking around that area is a real bear (I would suggest the free 2 hour parking at 51 East 3rd Street Long Beach, Ca 90802, but its still about 4 blocks from the park), everything outside of the park is filled with homeless and trash. Would I come here again if I lived within walking distance of the park, ya sure! But would I be willing to come downtown again to take my dog here and have to deal with beggars, trash and the main problem, parking? Probably not... Rosie's Dog Beach is about 2 miles east and you can walk on the beach and in the water and parking is a breeze! Also, there is another dog park that is MUCH BIGGER with fun things for the dogs to climb on and play with on 7th street, simply called Long Beach Dog Park (5201 E 7th St Long Beach, CA 90804). We will stick to these two locations in the future... or until we find something better! read more

It is imperative that I write an update on Stinkin', er, um, Lincoln Park. You see, I never would have imagined it, but the City has done something about this park... they have replaced the bums with lovely doggies! Yes, the "Downtown Dog Park" is here, and I must say, the view from my office window is a little bit better! I must commend the City for cleaning up this area and putting a special gate around the grass for the lil pups to roam free. There has been some actual landscaping done, and well, it's about time. Each morning this week I have actually seen people coming to enjoy this park. The doggies are very happy!! Of course, NOW when you walk to the library entrance, there are double the hootin' and hollerin' homeless to yell and gawk at you. You see, the doggie park pushed the homies down south towards the library. But really, what can they do short of arresting the homeless every day? They've come to plant themselves near the City Building and they're not leaving anytime soon. I should get back to work before I get caught, lose my job, and have to join them. read more

Dog Park I really like the dog park. It's huge, and there are usually other dogs for my dog to play with. If there's not, we wait about twenty minutes and some show up. It has grass, and some rocks which my dog loves to jump off of. It also has separate areas for big dogs and small dogs, so my dog doesn't get eaten. Two reasons I'm not giving this place five stars: There's no doggy drinking fountain. They leave a bucket there with water in it, but usually the water is really dirty. The last couple of time's we've been the bucket has been empty and I can't find a hose. There aren't any lights here either, and this place closes at sun down. Sun down is right before I get home from work, which is a bummer for my dog. read more

***This is only a review for the dog park*** This is probably the best dog park in Long Beach. The 7th street one is too dirty and not well maintained and the 9th street/Pacific one is too small and filled with children. The only problems with this place is the parking and the fact there is no water fountain for the dogs. There are bins for the dogs for water and a water fountain nearby so you have to fill it yourself and walk it back, but the bins are always dirty. Just bring your own container/water. Parking is free around there on Sundays on the street because of the parking meters..but you can park at 3rd and Cedar Avenue and walk there, which is what I do during the week. It's 2 hour parking from 9am-6pm around those streets, any closer and you'd have to pay. There's usually dogs there around 4:00pm and after during the week, which is when I usually go. It has two separate areas for small and large dogs. The park is pretty big, not as big as the 7th street one, but good enough and is all grass. I usually let little Lucy play with the large dogs because she just beats on the small ones all day. read more

When I was a child, I remember my parents taking me to this Japanesque park. It was a sweet, idyllic place. There was a lovely pond with koi fish in it, and I remember a lot of children running around, laughing on the green grass. There was an upper level to the park over the library that was open for exploration and playing as well. Fast forward twenty something years. This place is homeless central. People are camped out here permanently, and the city has provided them permanent porta potties as well. It's dirty and ugly and of course the upper level is permanently closed off. Of course we have to assist people in need, but allowing them to take over our parks and laze the days away is just enabling them. The other day I walked through en route back to work, and someone had spray painted on the cement: "WE DIDN'T GROW UP HOPING TO BE BUMS..." Oh great, now they are spraypainting on city property. A life saver for downtown residents with rowdy pups. I'm here almost everyday to let my dog sprint in circles until she's ready to fall over. It's rarely crowded, except during the summer. Lots of nice little dogs that love to play and nice owners. It's a fun community. For those worried about the homeless population, don't fret, they tend to steer clear of the dog park area. read more

Lincoln Park has a lot going on!! Let me start by saying there is an awesome dog park that includes two separate sides for dogs depending on their size (35 lbs and under and everyone over). I visit this dog park almost everyday and there is a great group of dog lovers! Take your dog off the leash once you get through the first gate, be cautious not to let other dogs out as you enter through the second gate, DO NOT bring treats or food into the park, and bring a bag or two to clean up after your pup and it will be a great visit!! In the actual park, there are regular events going on including Picnic in the Park on the 1st and 3rd Friday of the month from 12p-1:30p). Pack a lunch or stop by the local farmer's market (2 blocks away) to grab some lunch and bring it to the park to enjoy music, games or whatever might be going on that day. Also, feel free to pack a snack and bring your dog with you :) Tables and chairs are provided. Every Saturday at 9a there is a FREE workout! This is a new event to the park, but something I am very excited about. Last week was a Pound workout, this week is Zumba and next week is Bootcamp. The workouts change each week so check Friends of Lincoln Park Long Beach Facebook page to see which workout is coming up next :) Bring a friend or two and get over to Lincoln Park for all the fun!! read more

This HUGE park is home to the Bicolano Festival every September. Lincoln Park is a nice place to take a quiet stroll. The skate park is filled with up and coming skateborders and the pond is beautiful! Bring your dogs because they would have a field day. read more

When the park first opened, it was great. Sadly, it has steadily gone down hill. Part of that is owner responsibility to thwart dogs from digging and part is city responsibility to water. Even more, owners need to keep the small dog park for SMALL DOGS ONLY. It is interesting that many of these offenders do not respect the size difference and the potential danger to small dogs. Today there was a large husky-type in the small dog area that CLEARLY did not belong there. read more

I wish I could leave separate reviews. One for the area, and one for the dog park. Negatives: So far, we have not had any trouble with all the homeless people in the park, I do not, however, appreciate having to worry about contact highs while walking OUTSIDE through the park. Out of four trips (every weekend for a month) at least two of them this happened.. Lots and lots and lots of homeless people, but I guess they have no where else to go. I've never been harassed, although I go with my husband so I'm not alone. They also do not go into the actual dog park areas, they pretty much stay on the external benches/lawns. I have no problem going here during the day, I do not feel unsafe. I wouldn't go alone or at night however, its just kind of seedy and there are a lot of people there. There is not a water fountain with a reasonable flow or good distance from the park. You currently have to walk very far to get to the fountain, and the buckets left there..who knows when they were last cleaned. Last sunday the grass at the entrance is a little worn (read: complete mud/dirt path)..I'm not a fan of turf, but maybe just in the high traffic zone (entrances). Positives: My pup has a huge area to run around in and sniff to his little heart's content. The separation of large and small dogs is wonderful. Our dog loves large and small dogs, and at 25 lbs. he's inbetween areas. But generally the smaller dogs have the same energy level as he does. So we go between the two occasionally. We went to the smaller park (the sustainable one with turf everywhere) and I hated it, its too tiny and no separation, not to mention people just hanging out everywhere outside. I can't blame homeless people, they have nowhere else to go, but ...residents? Anyway...I give the park inside the gates a 4 (5 would be if there was a water source/clean bowl) Ouside gets a 2..safe when you go with a friend, not at night, not alone. read more

Little dog park is nice but the big dog park is always muddy because they don't set the sprinklers appropriately. Be aware there are some aggressive dogs and that you need to keep an eye on your dog. Bring your own bags because they rarely refill the bags there and people always steal the scooper. LOTS of bums that usually stick to themselves but occasionally will harass you when they are trippin balls. read more

I come to the dog park, it's a nice space with two sides. I like the small dog side for my pup.

The small. Park downtown is not bad, but when you see someone walking in with the large dog just because it dog doesn't have someone to play with on the large side let them know. The rules are actually laws ,read where it says Municipal code right there under the rules, if they won't leave you can always call the to leave to get them to go to the other side. Sometimes people with large dogs have them over on the small side only because the dog is very timid or submissive and some of the large dogs in the large side are kind of aggressive. You might ask them if its a good reason for them to have the large dog over here and they're not bothering you dogs then everything will be ok. As to condition of the dog park people nose call Parks and Rec if you think something's to be done, they are responsible for the dog parks read more

This is a great dog park. It has grass, trees and benches. It has a water fountain for the dogs. There are two separate parks, one for small dogs and one for large dogs. Both have plenty of room for dogs to run and play, and they're both clean and well kept. There is street parking, meters just outside the park, and free parking a block away. Best of all, there's a cool vibe with fun dogs and nice pet owners to chat with. I recommend it to everyone I meet. Check it out. read more
