Gary took obvious care in curating individual plants. Over the course of the project we looked forward to seeing what he might show up with. He could've done the easy thing and get a truckful of commonly available plants, but there was particular care in identifying plants that fit our "arid tropical" theme while attracting birds and butterflies, and all the feature plants were beautiful specimens. We did go over budget more than we expected to; expect Gary to be a bit haphazard about keeping up on budget until the end, but be assured extra costs are generally defensible. The overall timeline for completing the work was longer than we would've thought but allowed us extra time to give input to the evolution of the yard design, so that really worked for us. The original yard cleanup was never properly completed. I paid for the job as complete with a few items remaining that were supposed to be taken care of that week, and a month later are still not done. I called Mr Cruz repeatedly over the month to try and get him to come out to see the remaining items and he would say he was coming on a day and then just not show up. He did this more than three times. I could go through the laundry list of items, for a simple example cut branches are still throughout the yard even though the original cleanup and several weekly maintenances have been done. When I break down the hourly rate for the monthly service, Mr. Cruz is charging me $75/man hour worked for his team members to not do a good job.
