I ordered glasses. I was told they would be ready in 10 days. I was past 14 days and finally call. I'm told they need to cut the lenses and the guy that works on that machine will be in the next day. I'm told I'll get a call when they are ready. Since I'm never called, I call to check in. This time I'm told the glasses did not pass inspection and they'll be ready in a few days. Again, I have to be proactive and call. This time I'm told they need the no glare coating added. I'm promised someone will call on Saturday when they are ready. Again no call. They have a sign as soon as you walk in that says no photography, but the way I pick my Rx glasses and shades is based on how I look in pictures?! I was browsing around and writing down the measurements to keep track of some frames because they "don't allow" pix and my face is only compatible with a certain measurement. The security went up to me and asked me if I am writing down serial numbers or measurements?! I told him measurements and he left me alone. Like a minute later he goes up to me and says I "can not write down notes on all the frames." How ridiculous is that? He thinks he can tell me what to do and next they have "rules" that no other optometry place has?! I continued what I was doing and reminded him I only needed measurements and he told me "that's what the opticians are for." I only saw a couple I liked, so I took them to the optician, explained what happened with the "security" and she told me it is because a lot of people "go see frames they like, take a picture and go buy it somewhere cheaper." Well as far as I know it isn't a crime, people shop around and compare any product before buying it right? Anyhow she was kind enough to let me write down the names, description, and measurements of the ones I liked. She told me to check elsewhere and they would hold them for me for a week in case I don't find better ones elsewhere. I won't go back there due to the disgusting treatment I received from the "security," and their stupid "rules." I will go to another optometry place that lets me take notes, pictures, compare, then buy the one I really love whether at that place or elsewhere! Makes sense! read more

They are unprofessional, unreliable, and disorganized. Over several years, I have been giving them business and just recently took my wife for eye examination and for eyeglasses. I live in Glendale, CA, and could have simply found another business. At this point, I would not recommend them to family and friends, let alone strangers. This is my experience with them. I had taken my eyeglass for repair. In a month or so, after calling them myself, they told me the manufacturers will take a month or so because the part was back-ordered. I am not mad at waiting since June 20, 2020. This review is not about that. If you are not interested in reading the whole review, skip to the section that starts off as " In short, what can we learn from my experience alone: " Last week (August 27, Thursday), I called them to find out that my order was ready for pickup. Note, they did not call me when my order was ready (it wasn't, read on). I showed up at the drive-through and waited 20-30 minutes for someone to tell me that the eyeglass is dismantled and not ready. She assured me that the order will be ready for pickup Tuesday (September 1; it wasn't, read on). I called Tuesday, September 1, because I did not want to drive from Glendale to ensure my order was actually ready. The rep. helping me over the phone could not find my order! She said she needed to involve someone from their lab and give me a call. That day, I called after no answer for 1h 30 minutes. She said she still had not heard from the lab and would call me if she had updates. No one bothered to follow up with me yesterday. Today, Sept 1, I called and was put on hold for 40 minutes. They said my order will be ready in 2 hours (max). Someone called to tell me my order was ready but the catch was, I could not have it adjusted if something was off. I had to make an appointment for mid-September. You could have made it easier for people picking up eyeglasses and give them a chance to park and come inside for adjustment if they felt it was needed. It takes less than 3 minutes. After all this, I picked up the eyeglasses and told the rep. that I won't be coming back. That today is the last time I am giving you my business. She said she will let someone know. I really doubt anyone will give me a call, not that that I really care if they did. Linden Optometry, you lost my business and my family's business. If I find out that my friends have visited you, I will talk to them out of visiting you. In short, what can we learn from my experience alone: Save yourselves the headache and give another local business your $. They will not take responsibility. They will not acknowledge your business. They are not emphatic and will not offer to fix their mistake. They do not value your business. They are disorganized and will not properly follow up with you. I really like this place because it's an all in one experience with their great eye examinations as as well as up-to-date equipment. They have many types of eyeglass frames as well as sunglasses. I'm son upset with the service I received here. I had stopped going to them some years ago and decided to return and now I know why I stopped being a customer. 1. They took forever to place my order for a simple pair of sunglasses. 2. They said they'd call me when they came in but didn't. I had to call them. 3. They ordered the wrong model sunglasses. The ones I tried on displayed were not the ones they ordered. I went back to the display and found the model o picked out. The measurements were different. 4. They want ME to take time out of my day to come BACK and see the "frame" consultant. 5. When I asked for a refund they said they can't and gave me some sorry about how they would have to change the lens because they put them in there! This I know is BS because they weren't RX lenses. I didn't order RX sunglasses. I told the girl that I wanted and exchange instead and I am not needed for an exchange. That was when she brought me to the "frame consultant. He swears that they only come in one size and that maybe the pair on displayed had been adjusted. I asked why they'd have to adjust frames for display and he said maybe because someone returned the frame...hmmm. I'm going to look up the manufacture to see if this is the case. So I am stuck with a pair of sunglasses that I am not satisfied with! It came in a nice triangle fold case and the adjustment doesn't allow the to sit nicely on the case. Oh they offered me a new case but that isn't the point is it. Also be beware, there's a technician there that thinks all adjustments means bending the back of the arms straight down. He has no finesse or understand subtleties to adjustments. I'm going to try to find another optometry store and get them readjusted. read more

Haven't been here for years and years... I wanted to come here bc I knew there was a huge selection of frames to choose from. I wasn't disappointed in all the selections and the staff was pretty helpful overall. I have to say, I didn't end up with a pair of glasses bc they couldn't figure out my insurance, oh well. The reason for 1 star off is the awkward yelling between staff. It just seems in professional to tell across the store to say, "your lunch was delivered it's here at the front," "come! Come! Look at this, come here!" Or "hey that's not your prescription, not that one, no, that one!" For one, couldn't there be a walkie talkie/in ear type communication system to resolve these unexpectedly loud screams? I have been coming here for years and while the exams are great, the whole optical situation is nothing less than a train wreck. Since the Pandemic, Linden has instituted protocols that allow them to not service their customers in a reasonably timely way. Honestly, if you love to wait for hours and be inconvenienced, this may be the place for you. I'm disappointed that my relationship with Linden has come to an end, but when I receive an email indicating that I can drive up to their window to pick up my new glasses (oh, and that they can not adjust them unless I make yet another appointment) and am ordered to "wait under a tree" until they can get to me because there is no parking in the pick up zone... well, that pretty much sums up how much they think of their customers... who, I might add, pay premium prices for this treatment. Get the exam here, but try going somewhere else for the actual products... you'll thank me later! read more

I really like my eye doctor here however the front office staff is very rude. I've gone here for years and have always had bad costumer service skills. I have had to call a few times to schedule appointments/call for prescriptions and half the time I am left on hold for over 20 minutes or hung up on. Wanted to get glasses but was very hard to go into the building. You have to walk around the block in the back to get in (if you can get in.) They make it so difficult to just come in and purchase eyeglasses. Too many protocols (filling forms just to come in.) Unacceptable service! My visit was only to pick up eyeglasses, nothing more. I had to wait 1 hour 15 minutes to get my items. The shop was not busy! I arrive at 1pm the store has very few people, I was able to see a total of 5 patrons sitting, about 4 patrons roaming looking at eyewear, receptionist takes my information. After 1 hour of waiting, I approach the pick up section and inform them, I have been waiting for such a long time. By observation, receptionist failed to print my documents, the other staff member had me print my info, and then went to go search for my items, which also took her some time. Heed of warning to anyone coming here! I grew up and worked in the Pasadena area, sad to see lack of customer service, the deterioration of working effectively, and efficiently. Unfortunately this place is unprofessional and tried to stop me from saving almost $100 on lenses. They did not give my daughter enough sample lenses to last until we could get some through an order and they do not offer overnight delivery. I called to ask for more samples to tide her over and they did not follow up. When I said I wanted to compare prices with 1 800 contacts they said they had priced them out and their price was cheaper. I'm glad I decided to check myself because I saved over $90 on the exact same order plus 1 800 gave me free overnight shipping. Why lie when it is so easy to check? read more

RUDE STAFF + SLOW SERVICE. I ordered a pair of glasses December 14. I was told they'd be in within 3 weeks. 3 weeks pass, no phone call, no email. I call and they say they're finishing them up and they'll be ready by Thursday. Still no call on Thursday, but OK, fine, I go in to pick up the glasses. Well, after trying on the glasses without a mask on, they are slipping down and the frame is blocking my vision. I ask the woman at the reception if they have any adhesive nose pads or another way to correct these frames, as they are clearly not working. She rudely asks if I have an appointment. Well, no - they hadn't even informed me that the glasses were ready when they were. She says they have no time for me and I will have to schedule a return appointment. I wound up just leaving and buying what I needed on Amazon for $8. I was very disappointed with my experience at Linden as a first-time customer. They were the closest optometrist that took my insurance, but I will gladly go elsewhere to be treated well by a staff that actually seems to care about their customers. read more

Always well taken care off by my Doctor Limfat, he truly cares about me as a patient and my eyes. He gives me the time to go over my glaucoma test as he checks them often due the pressure in my eyes. I cannot ask for a better Doctor. read more

The absolute worst place to come for anything.. well, they do have a huge selection of frames. I've been coming here for years after I no longer had Kaiser coverage and hit oh boy I always had a complaint and I always say I'm not coming back but due to the reminder emails and the convenience I go.... not anymore, I am so done with this place that's ran like Supercuts. I got frames and lenses maybe 6 months ago but my driving lenses never seemed to work for me. So, this time I went and I told the young man that performed not the eye exam but whatever it is that they do prior to that. He Took my glasses and when he came back he said Thad there was something that wasn't done to them. After my exam I presented to the eyewear area and was seen by this lady who had no idea what the hell she was doing. I tried to explain that my glasses were never right after she told me I had to pay to use my own frame. She also couldn't decipher between both of my RX to know which one I wanted which was my distance glasses. I immediately asked for someone else. He knew what he was doing but was kind of rude. When I got to the counter to pay I was helped by Rita. When she told me the cost and to insert my card, I asked her to tell me what all I was getting as I heard her interaction with the lady before me and heard her repeat to her what she was getting. She said something about plastic lenses.'I told her I wasn't aware of that so she paced the guy. He came over and apparently it was written on the RX she just missed it, no big deal as I wanted to make sure since my RX was wrong last time. Once I was done I asked her now long and before I could get the entire question out she said "I don't know". Now you knew with the customer before me because you told Her 4-6 weeks. Now granted they could have been talking about something else but so what, she was rude and seemed annoyed. If I could give this place negative one star, I would. I am so done with this place and after I get my glasses I will NOT be returning. I must say the only highlight was the young man and the nice lady who performed mine and my daughters exam. The eye exam and the doctor were actually helpful, informative, and quick. I even opted to do the out-of-pocket retinal check up. ...buuuut everything else has been a headache and I'm still calling in to get reimbursed for some mixup with insurance logistics. First, I would say to be absolutely sure you confirm what you are in for. They have you initial a form that says parts of the exam might not all be covered by insurance and would need to be out of pocket because there are different copays and usually a percentage that insurances don't cover which I get. But then, at least for me, they tacked on a "contact fitting" which is a $99 or so add on that is not a thing for insurance as I've been wearing contacts for more than a decade. It basically was me putting on the sample contacts and the doctor asking if it's comfortable... for $99... and when I pushed back and asked about it, they chocked it up to my astigmatism and that even if I was informed, I would have been required to get that as part of my exam. But it again, literally was me putting it in and the doc asking if it's comfy. And just how they answered and just cut me off with that left me wondering if it was kinda scammy which I can't fully say, but it just felt crappy. Sigh Then my calling in has been a hassle and when dealing with the mixup of insurances (which I definitely got mixed up with so I had a part in this) buuut figuring it out was very tedious. I provided all the info but they didn't want the actual insurance policy number stating "the name and the last 4 ss# should have it pop up in our system" but this led to phone tags and calling back and forth until she took the actual insurance number and it worked! So whew, I am a little peeved and just confused by their processes as they're such a "brand." Anyway, I went somewhere else for actual contacts and it was as simple as it could be and I'm so grateful. I'm officially sticking with them and not going to bother with the requested initial to forms for random out of pocket expenses without being informed. read more

I never leave reviews because I usually think that no one needs to know my opinion about poor service. I chose Linden because I recalled that they have a reasonable selection and because my health plan benefit goes farther here. Boy was I wrong!! Selection - still reasonable. Building and esthetic - heading toward dated public health facility. Service - TERRIBLE. Everything from the front end phone access to the humans who do not care to make eye contact were dismal. Indifferent employees, long waits in store, a month long wait for glasses, no notification when they were done, and insistence that I make a separate appointment to get them fitted. Clearly adjustments are expected due to COVID, but this rotten service culture had to already have been endemic. Overall, this place is a very mixed bag . Some of the staff seems to be overworked and unhappy which then leads to poor communication with customers and patients. You can feel the negative energy and tension in the air when you walk into the office. However, there a few staff members that are doing an amazing job. I probably won't come back here but I wanted to give a fair review of my experience. In summary, it took me 35 days, 5+ phone calls and 3 visits to get my glasses. With each interaction, I had to mentally prepare myself for chaos or some sort of 'mishap'. Starting off, my experience with the optometrist was great. She was thorough, professional, and great to work with. I like her a lot and was very personable and helpful. However, actual front office operations of Linden is the WORST. The waiting room was dusty and bare. The bathroom looks like it has not changed since the 70s. The front office staff are mediocre at best. My optician (Fye) was a poor experience to work with. She felt very pushy about my frames and kept trying to get me to do upgrades and add ons without much explanation. I don't know if they are motivated by commission or sales, but I was very turned off. The next day, I when I was able to do a bit more personal research on Hi-Index lens and decided to upgrade it, I gave Linden a call and lady at the front desk said it shouldn't be a problem. I gave them a call a few days later to verify the change and they said they have no info on my file. I retold about the upgrade request again. I get a call back a few days later from Fye saying that she just got the inform today (even thought I already called 3 times, first call being 8 days ago) and said that it's too late. I'm going to have to wait till the order is done and she will need to send it back. (I later found out one of my friend has been waiting for 6 weeks for his glasses!) I didn't want the hassle and every communication has already been SUCH a pain. I just told Fye that I would just take it as it in. No changes, no upgrade. Just give me to as soon as possible. On my second visit, I schedule a pick up and fitting, and my goodness the check in lady was RUDE. Granted I was 20 mins late for my appointment, but she gave me the nastiest look. I told her I'm okay with just waiting until the next fitting slot opened up. She said "Fine. Go sit down." It was only a 5 mins wait but her attitude just left a bad taste. For my fitting, I spoke to the dispensary technician, John, and he was GREAT. He was very caring and through. He gave me insightful education on my options and tried his best to diagnose my fishbowl vision issues. Long story short, he broke down all of the specs and recommended the best option to move forward with. Instead of upgrading to Fye's options that was $100+ of additional cost, John recommended another (free) solution that fixed my issue. John is a GEM staff member who was so helpful and kind. He alone made this review bump to a 3 star. In short, come here with your guards up. It may have been a great place at one time, but there are A LOT of serious issues that is not worth the headache nor hassle. Also, I really hope they take care those few wonderful employees like John and the optometrist. Also i hope they start more accountability for those staff members who are mean and sleazy. Terrible experience here. Took five visits and "adjustments" to get my glasses to match the prescription (ALL other places I've been to have gotten it right on the first try). Then another three visits to get the contacts right, plus a month and a half of waiting for "shipments". Then after a year the arm of my overpriced glasses snaps off and they claim it's "unrepairable". Except, it's not... I took it home, ordered replacement parts, and repaired it myself for $30. They were trying to upsell me a whole new set of frames. Visiting this store has been my own personal nightmare and I'm just done with the stress. Update: After I posted my previous review, management contacted me and listened carefully to my feedback. I had explained that I had left feeling like I was a number and not even an appreciated number. They had skipped my number while I was waiting in the waiting area! The lady helping me had been rude about it too when I came to the counter after people after me were being served. That being said... next time I went in to pick up my glasses, customer service was on point. Totally different experience. Maybe things will improve. They seem to be responsive and caring about feedback. Previous: Annoying experience. Overly crowded. Overpriced frames, lenses, and services. Rude workers. Customer service failure. I'm over it. I have come here because I have for the past 20 years and they have a wide selection. The optometrists are not bad, if you have an appointment- you will likely be turned away if you get here in the afternoon and try to walk in. I'd recommend buying your frames online for less that 1/2 the price, and having the lenses put in somewhere else. You know. Just go somewhere else. This place will try to nickel and dime you.. Came here only because Sears Optometry closed. Linden tried to charge me $89.00 for a "contact lense" examination. When I stated that I have never been charged this before, they then checked my insurance and said, "oh you're right, I don't see a copay for this......but it will be up to your doctor" So I get the exam, check out and they again try to charge me $89.00 for the "contact lense" examination. When I stated that my insurance covered this., therefore I would not pay this fee, said "oh you're right...no charge". So beware when you go here. They have a big selection of items, but have always charged more than competitors. read more

He makes sure you thoroughly understand what's going on, which I believe to be very important, and makes you feel really cared for, as if you're someone from his own family. The selection is good, they carry a lot of high end brands, but the whole set up of checking in, selecting glasses and such is all over the place. Seems like no one really knows their role. Had a great experience at Linden Optometry. My fiance and I initially ended up with an appointment here after I called a few offices that were open on weekends and had availability for our desired date/time. As we were on our way, my fiance asked what the yelp reviews were like for this place. I hadn't checked, so I did a quick Yelp search and immediately started feeling like I may have made a mistake. 2.5 stars with plenty of reviews.... Not my idea of somewhere I'd choose to go to. However, at this point we were committed. I'm glad that we decided to ride it out because we both had a great experience. Upon walking in, you're exposed to the large selection of glasses. All organized and lit up respectively by brand. Great selection. At the checkin area we were promptly greeted and checked in. This is where we met Christine who worked at the desk. She ran each of our vision insurance plans and helpfully explained in detail what it covered. She was very knowledgeable on both of our plans. This helpful and positive demeanor was observed among everyone that helped us from the representatives to the optometrists. We were in and out of there within an hour. My fiance ended up with a great pair of designer glasses and I walked out with an accurate contact prescription. read more

I've been coming here since I was a child and I can't in good conscience recommend this businesses to anyone anymore. They've seriously declined over the years and the level of customer service just isn't there for the modern shopper. I personally felt like the staff treated me like cattle. The only thing they got going for them is their large showroom and selection of brands. However, despite having a large showroom, it's pretty cluttered, rundown, and their selection of extended sizes for people with large heads is pathetic. I left without purchasing anything.
