Rather, they're the kind who check their phones, sit idly at a desk ignoring residents unless they're disruptive, and barely give these confused elders basic human kindness or attention - especially at nights and on weekends when management isn't around. I doubt they receive any special dementia training or even supervision. Look somewhere else if compassion and decency are important to you for your loved one living with dementia. This place overcharges and disappoints.

Earlier this year my moms condition declined and we agreed to move her to memory care. We are now looking for a new facility. Since we moved her my moms care has been totally substandard. She is not being monitored to shower or undertake personal hygiene on a daily basis. When we visit she has dry towels and tooth brushes(which means no shower or teeth brushing) on a regular basis. We have found her toilet paper(which we provide) not restocked . She is frequently dressed inappropriately for weather. Half of her clothes are missing and other size inappropriate clothing in her closet that doesn't fit (Laundry is something we pay for). Filed complaint on 6/11 and administrator Tom Nolan has not responded as of 6/22. Avoid at all costs!!!

No condolence cards, no phone call and no one in attendance at her service, held less than 3 miles away. The last contact with anyone from Sunrise management, local or national , was a final bill. We will not be considering Sunrise as a placement for any other family members. There are many other options available in the area.

Nice staff that go out of their way to make the residents feel comfortable, the menu is varied and well prepared, the rooms are pleasant and for me the most important thing - no "living odors" in the halls! The public visiting rooms are beautiful; oriental rugs, comfortable chairs and sofas with plenty of room to maneuver wheelchairs through. The dining room is set up with seating matched by the staff but you skip can this if you prefer and have meals in your room. Also, takeout food is acceptable as diets allow which is always a plus for someone shut inside indefinitely. Tatiana, the memory care director, and all the staff supported us and our mom through the transition and continue to do so. Tatiana and team care for the residence like they are family. What a huge level of comfort this gave us. They are always there for support and guidance. We are very impressed with Tatiana and the team. They, and especially Tatiana made a difficult time less stressful with the care they gave and continue to give. So glad we selected Benchmark. My father has been at Benchmark Hanover for approximately 6 weeks. He has fallen at least 9 times…read moreand been taken to the hospital 3 times. He has parkinsons/dementia and is unable to care for himself. He walked in with his walker and is now in a wheelchair full time because he now can't walk. They don't want to bother taking anyone outside or do any physical activity with those who cannot walk. A typical day here is to corral all the memory care residents in one room in front of the tv and if they want to go back to their rooms it's a hard no from the aides. The aides are allowed to sit on their phones and do as little as possible. The field trips are a farce. There aren't any for the memory care residents only the assisted living residents. If you are looking at their facebook page it's all assisted living residents in those pictures. There is minimum care here in the memory ward. They don't even have cable tv. They stream youtube re-runs all day long! Believe me this place isn't cheap monthly but boy are they cheap with the amenities. the food is subpar. If you care for your elder please don't bring them here. It's a downhill slope from day one.

Imagine giving your physically healthy, eighty-five-year-old mother to alleged professional…read morecaretakers in late June and paying $8200.00 per month only for her to wind up in the hospital dehydrated just when the bulk of the money is running out and PACE funds are going to start in late August? If a family member paid themselves $8200.00 out of their relative's bank account then that person suddenly became ill, that person would be suspected of elder abuse, but if you are an assisted living facility, it is business as usual and rationalized away as natural because the person is old and has dementia. This woman entered the physically healthiest person in the facility, even more fit than some of the staff, and left wheelchair bound the rest of her life, left too weak to survive for long after leaving. The hospital stated that she did not have a UTI and could determine no other causes. Prior to her admission to Windrose, my mother did not even let a stroke stop her and bounced back. So how does a person get dehydrated? Windrose at Weymouth controls every aspect of a resident's environment and what they eat and drink. Do people get dehydrated if they are not given enough water or their room is too hot? I've requested that the appropriate authorities investigate since there is no medical explanation, but I've heard nothing back, so I'll probably have to do more by going public. Dementia destroys the mind and ultimately the body as it forgets how to function, but not this quickly. On a pure business and logistics level, the only competent people were Taniesha McAllister, who had to fix numerous billing errors and Windrose at Woburn's inability to return a security deposit to me when my mother transferred, and Melvin Santiago, the maintenance director who treated my mother's belongings as if they were his own. While I did not meet everyone in the facility, it was astounding that they were unable to spell my mother's name correctly, which affected the paperwork at the hospital, have my phone number incorrectly listed in their records and would claim that they could not reach me even though numerous Windrose employees called and texted me all the time, could not provide the correct paperwork for the lease and other items for months, provide the correct amounts due before moving in or answer direct questions correctly about how public funding would work. They only gave clear answers when the money ran out, and while only God knows the intent of a person's heart, they could have been playing a shell game to get all the private funds while they were available. Even though I saw these red flags, based on experience with Windrose at Woburn and other places, I figured that some people are better with caretaking than business and tried not to hold it against them. My mom will soon die because I trusted them to be good at something. Do not make the mistake that I did. All the money seems to go to Windrose at Weymouth with little of the responsibility. If you are considering an assisted living residence and it has the name Windrose or HallKeen attached, think overpromise, underdeliver....with grave consequences. I would only recommend it if you hate someone and want them to become debilitated as soon as possible. I plan to review Windrose at Woburn so if you want to find out how this story began, please check to see if it is up.

This privately owned facility is exactly what was needed for my struggling parents. Their one bedroom unit is comfortable and quiet. This facility is well maintained, clean, and so well run. They receive three wonderful meals a day all expertly prepared in house. Any maintenance issued are addressed immediately. The staff goes out of their way for both residents and their families. My parents receive laundry, housekeeping, medication prompting, and showering assistance. They can also take part in lots of activities and events to keep them busy. I highly recommend Grove Manor.

My only contact with the staff has been by phone, and every single one of my interactions was unpleasant. The very first call I got was from the discharge planner, who was incredibly abrupt. I tried to talk to the charge nurse for the unit, but I left three messages and didn't receive a return call. After my mother started getting bills at home (which she shouldn't have received), I left 2 messages for the administrator and 2 messages for billing, and didn't receive a call back. The only calls I did receive were from a nurse who wanted to put my mother on opiates for pain, without optimizing her non-opiate pain meds. I requested an update in 2 days, but of course nobody called me back. Since my mother is only partially verbal, she can't complain about the lack of attention. I can. I'm a physician, and I can tell from 300 miles away that CareOne Weymouth is suboptimal. I'm only glad that I got her transferred to another facility. For a facility to have an average of 1 1/2 stars when the lowest rating is 1 star, it must have some serious deficiencies. If they can't bother to return phone calls, it's no wonder they receive poor reviews on other aspects of care.
