I had a 60 minute Swedish Massage with Elle at Body of Needs Spa yesterday and have finally found my new MT and Spa home!! The experience begins with being welcomed by their delightful receptionist who offered me water and had me fill out their very detailed intake form that asks everything from specific areas of focus, lotion or oil preference, amount of pressure and all the things your MT needs to tailor your massage. Elle came out to get me and brought me in to a very tranquil treatment room. There is a whiteboard on the wall and Elle used it to note where I wanted her to focus, any thing that was important to me for my massage and then she stepped out so that I could undress. As she started the massage, the pressure was a little lighter than I wanted so I told her and she immediately adjusted. She really worked on my problem areas and gave a great full body massage!! I'm a little sore today, but in the best possible way!! I immediately scheduled my next appointment with Elle as soon as I got in the car; a 90 minute this time,. Their online booking makes it so easy to book, reschedule, or cancel your appointment. Needless to say Elle and Body of Needs are my new go to!!

As a resident of Cromwell, I've driven by Green Lotus many times, but today was the first time I decided to give it a try, and it was a great choice! I called Green Lotus late in the afternoon inquiring about an appointment for facial waxing either tonight or tomorrow night - and surprisingly, they were able to fit me in tonight. When I walked in, I was greeted with a smile from Monica, and she offered to hang up my coat and get me a drink. My appointment with Vanessa went very well - she introduced herself with a handshake and conversed with me throughout the appointment. I have some skin sensitivities and allergies, and Vanessa discussed these with me prior to my appointment and added them to my record. It even printed that I had an allergy on my receipt - so I'm very pleased to know they take that matter seriously! She really took her time and didn't rush through the service. If I were to describe both employees I dealt with, I'd say: Processional & Friendly. They both deserve a ton of credit for their great customer service - something that seems rare these days. The salon is very clean and the waxing room had soft, relaxing music in the background and a soothing fountain. I thought the price was reasonable and ended up booking a future appointment. I should have called but everything happened so quickly that I honestly was not thinking about the days appointments. I was unable to pick up my phone when they called but when I realized what had happened I called right back from the hospital. They do not answer their phone so I left a message and sent an email explaining what happened, I received no response and they charged me $185.00 for missing the appt. My message stated that I understood I would need to pay a cancellation fee and asked if under the circumstances if they could refund part of the $185.00 Well as I said there was no response. I would have been a very good client for these people as I would have utilized a number of their services on an ongoing basis. I did make a mistake but I think this is a very bad way to do business and a terrible way to take advantage of someone. Sometimes things just happen!

As a former CEU instructor, at the Cromwell, CT location, I was continuously met with poor…read moremanagement, lack of correspondence, insufficient HR processes and a lack of ethics/compliance. Those in administration lack the business acumen and soft skills to run a school efficiently and effectively.   On multiple occasions, students were provided with inaccurate or incomplete information regarding the workshop I led. On one occasion, when I addressed this situation to Sandra Cook, Program Director, the situation was rectified in a very leisurely, unprofessional and disgruntled manner . On a separate occasion, I was completely disregarded.   Additionally, the set standards that are implemented, or lack thereof, hinder students from being adequately prepared for success in the field. Not only is this disheartening, but it is unjust. While improvement and change are within reach, individuals in positions of authority are lacking in the necessary skills and genuine concern to do so.   As the Director of Education, Corporate Offices, Rob Black has failed on numerous occasions to abide by and follow up with the duties assigned to him. He does not follow the policies implemented and he lacks the benevolence to do so.  After not receiving any assistance from Rob, I called the corporate office with an attempt to receive contact information of the President of school, in which I was denied that information.  After many emails sent, and phone calls made, I received my first check 4 months late, not by Rob, but his colleague. Concerning my final payment, I reached out to Rob requesting that my payment is sent, but he disregarded my inquiries and request entirely. Instead, he attempted to undermine and pacify me. He simultaneously changed the subject, and proceeded to disregard me, again.  In the email thread, two colleagues and the accounts payable department were cc'd yet none took initiative to address this recurring issue. To receive my final payment, I had to file a complaint with the United States Department of Labor.    Based on Google reviews, there seems to be a reoccurring problem where students aren't refunded for the CEU workshops, dating back at minimum 2 years, in multiple Cortiva Institute / Hollywood Beauty of Careers locations. Despite there being many negative reviews, for years, the "owner" replies with a generic , fawning , copy and paste message every time . This directly coincides with my experience - poor communication and an overall lack of desire to solve the copious amount of problems that are continually being addressed by students and employees.   Although I enjoyed educating the students, I find the management of Cortiva Institute / Hollywood Institute of Beauty and Careers to be unacceptable and shameful
