    Smoked St Louis style ribs

I had heard of this place but went for the first time. It's a cool spot, def a lodge feel. I really went just to check out mainly how the place was decorated and see what all the talk was about. I was pleasantly surprised at the menu and the quality of the food. I ended up getting the smoked ribs which were very very good. BBQ smoked sliders were also good. Had a piece of peanut butter pie for dessert. It was great but was taken back by the $10 price. We had 2 meals , 2 beers, an appetizer and the pie and the bill was about $80. It surprised me a bit. Will we be back ? Yes Service was great and the folks were very friendly

Linger Lodge is truly a hidden gem in Bradenton, Florida. The rustic camp-like feel and the smokey scent of campfire cooking was like going back in time to our days of summer camping retreats. But instead of a taxidermy of an elk or moose greeting us as we entered the restaurant, a huge alligator hanging on the wall in the main foyer continued to set the retro tone of old Florida, wild and fun. The hostess then seated us on a patio overlooking a private small lake surrounded by a green jungle of lush palms and native foliage. The ambiance was perfect for the cuisine we were about to eat, Cajun and creole. Luckily, as first time guests at the lodge, we were graced with an awesome waitress named Faye. I love it when a server is not afraid to make menu suggestions to new customers. For an appetizer, we started with a favorite dish from my childhood, fried green tomatoes, yum! Fay then recommended that we try the Braden River Platter to experience the flavors and textures of catfish, frog legs, and alligator. The platter was paired with a selection of sauces of which the roasted red pepper sauce added just the spice I was looking for. In addition, I ordered a crab salad, and Linger's homemade lemon mango dressing was excellent! When it was time to go, I felt as if we were leaving an old friend as Faye treated us with such hospitality. She loaded us up with our leftovers to go, and she even refilled our drinks to take along. As for my husband, a connoisseur of coleslaw, he wasn't leaving without ordering a second helping of the side dish for lunch the next day. It was truly the best he ever tasted. Discovering Linger Lodge at the "end" of our snowbird vacation is my only regret. However, you can be sure it will be at the top of our list for dining destinations next year when we return.

AMAZING Florida Cracker style food! You can't find many restaurants carrying on traditional old school Florida country style food but this place is Historic in its food and decor! Everyone is like family and treats customers the same. The Gumbo & Jambalaya is the ABSOLUTE BEST I've ever tasted and I have eaten in Louisiana for decades! All the Fried food is sinfully delicious! Fantastic, Friendly Service! Browse the pictures and make your plans to visit Old Florida and this hidden gem! Highly Recommended!!

Loved everything! Went kayaking right at the launch and then had lunch here. The hush puppies were the best I've ever had - light, flavorful and a nice crunch on the outside. We shared the fried sampler - alligator, FG tomatoes and the frog legs. Yummy. We also got the sampler meal grilled - the garlic lemon sauce fantastic! This came with catfish instead of tomatoes and two sides. Wow! I've never had collard greens so good. And the spiced apples - perfect. The ambience was just as good as the meal - forgot to add I had two beers it was all so perfect (I normally have one, if any). We ate on the screen in deck overlooking the water - lovely. It was neat to look at all the stuffed animals and I love my souvenir t-shirt!

    Lots of deer racks!

Food is good service is great. The ambiance cant be beat. You could walk around and look at the taxidermy for hours.

If you are looking for an exotic food to try, you should check this place out. You can try snake, snake, squirrel, gator, raccoon, sparrow, tortoise, etc. (See the menu in picture). I tried the special that day, Gator Ribs and I wished I ordered some things else. The meat is fishy and like a tough fish texture. I take the left over and put lot of chili, still can't eat it. The side dishes also not that good. But my friend ordered their burger and enjoyed it. They didn't allowed us to sit outside at first since we didn't make reservations but there were few tables open so when we asked the second time, they moved us. I'm glad we got to sit outside! The have lot of preserved animals inside, it's a bit depressing to see all the snakes around. They have live music outside and we're glad we could see the river as well. We went for lunch on Sunday and arrived at 12.15pm they weren't that busy but after we got our food, looks like almost all tables are full.

Sat out on the patio. The view of the river with the Spanish moss hanging in the trees really sets the tone. Gives old Florida vibes for sure. Lots of taxidermy animals inside the main restaurant area. Pretty cool looking critters. Our server was prompt, kept our drinks filled and had some great menu recommendations. I ordered the shrimp sizzler sautéed in their famous garlic herb butter sauce, with a side of the wasabi mashed potatoes and baked beans. The food had good flavor and was nice and warm when it came to the table. Definitely will be back.

We even got to chat with Eddie the Pitmaster for a couple of minutes, he is the real deal. I love BBQ and to me, there is no such thing as bad BBQ. That said, this was super good. I tried their Beef Brisket Platter and part of their The Pig Mac. With Manny the humanoid pig looking on, we dove in. The brisket was flavorful, no sauce needed. There was plenty of fat and plenty of slices. For my two sides I tried their coleslaw, which was fine, and their cucumber salad. I'm a big flavor guy and love cucumber slices soaked in vinegar. After we had ordered our food another customer stopped by our table and praised their The Pig Mac so much, we added it to our order. What a great recommendation. It is a sandwich with a cheesy patty of mac n' cheese, pulled pork on the side. We even got another side and tried their potato salad made with both white and sweet potatoes. I liked the thinking outside the box potato salad. The pulled pork, like the brisket, stood very well on its own without sauce. The pork topping the cheesy patty just worked so well. We will be back.

Our table ordered a couple of dishes: chicken and waffles, southern fried chicken, shrimp fried rice, and the hitman. The water tasted like it came straight from the water fountain outside the restaurant. Chicken was overly breaded and salty, and the corn cake was sour. I also don't know how they managed to dry out dark meat. The waffle was semi burnt. The shrimp "fried rice" was soggy, vinegary, almost sushi rice like texture, and shrimp was heavily salted. The hitman smashed burger... the hitman probably killed people with the insane amount of salt on the plate. See the theme? Lighten up on the salt unless you're trying to give your customers clogged arteries. Extremely disappointing considering all the great reviews we saw before going.

We ordered the fried green tomatoes, fried chicken, a vegetable medley that included collards, black eye peas, Gabon beans, and boiled peanuts, and corn bread, which was delicious. I think what took the cake, was the waitress who was obviously having a bad day. We overheard a customer asking how much the cornbread, and she told him, "free because you don't like it!" Same smell we know locally. My wife told me that she witnessed the manager spraying something near the other bar patrons behind me as he went toward the kitchen. She knew I would be so upset about it that she did not point it out at the time. I just curled my nose and thought about another seat or to vacate the premise. It dissipates quickly so we tried to be forgiving. The tab was inflated by a drink never ordered and they charge extra for Tajin on the rim of your margarita without notice or justification. So we needed the owner to approve the corrections of the bill. We were told that it became a "flavored" margarita when Tajin is added to the rim in place of salt or no salt. Then we got the "costs are up" story that we have not heard before while ordering my margaritas anywhere else. The waitress did manage to get in a few "I don't make the rules, I just work here" clip that we read here in other reviews. So my wife was pissed and our return visits are now very unlikely. I am not happy either but was looking forward to coming back for liver and onions with our stepfather very soon. Doubtful now. Poop stench in the face, spraying chemicals in the dining room during service and nickel and dime issues make it hard to justify taking our family back here. That is what disappointed me the most.
