So let me start off by saying I have tried many other Vietnamese places in the area, and Linhs soup is the best. If it wasn't, I would never come back. I have consistently received rude and poor service from many of the employees. For example: I had come for my usual carry out order and as I was finishing paying, the lady who cashed me out pushed my bag out of the way, and proceeded to "help" the next person in line. We finally had a chance to eat at Linh's Bistro on Saturday afternoon. I had the Pho with beef. I've previously only had Pho at Little Saigon in Dayton. Sad to say that Linh's is better and they give you actual basil unlike Little Saigon. The huge slices of jalapeńo were a nice touch. It was extremely good. We came in and were seated right away and had our food within 10 minutes. This place does good business as there was a steady flow of people coming and going. The wait staff takes care of all the tables. We were seated, had our order taken, food brought to our table and given the bill by four different people. My bowl of Pho and tea along with my girlfriend's Mongolian beef, crab rangoon, root beer, and wonton soup came to $16.85. Not bad. I look forward to going back. The only downside was we chose to sit at a table next to the store front windows. Pretty chilly over there but that's our fault. read more

Food is good! The girl at the front (Alex) was very dismissive. We order over the phone for carry out. When I went in to pick up the food, she asked for payment, I gave her my card and she rang me up. While she was doing this another customer walked up to check out, she gave me my card back.... but FAILED to give me my food I stood there while she finished up with the other customer, when she was done I had to ask her for my order. She pointed to some bags on the counter. I was not aware that this was a self help restaurant, she acted as if I was supposed to know that all the bags sitting there were mine. Service was horrible. We were seated before 4 other tables but we were the last one to place and got our food. We ordered the spring rolls, pho #3, and #30. Spring rolls sauce....glad they didn't use peanut butter but fish sauce combined with hoisin sauce is......well interesting. My pho...was ok. Soup was bland. There were only a few pieces of meat for that price. The owner must've looked at me with 3 heads when I asked for the basil vegetables that's supposed to go with the pho and not cilantro!!! Just passing through Dayton to see the Air Force Museum, staying at the Comfort Inn, looking for nearby dinner that's not a chain or pizza joint and found this on Yelp. Love, love, loved it! Good, fast service, knowledgeable servers, well prepared Vietnamese food. Menu easy to decode (not always true in Asian restaurants). Hubs had pho and gave it thumbs up. I had the 'soft' rolls (sometimes called summer rolls: rice paper, uncooked, really fresh flavors), and vegetables with tofu and lemon grass. I love going to Linh's for the noodle soup they have (if I remember right, I usually get the Pho Bo Vien, not sure though. I'd recognize it if I looked at the menu, haha!) My boyfriend is half Vietnamese so a couple weeks ago when he came to visit I suggested eating here for dinner. I was hoping that dinner service would be good since he had never been here before. The couple things I'm not a fan of is how slow the service can be and how some of the girls who work there take their time to even come to our tables. And unfortunately, that's what happened. The wait definitely was worth it. My boyfriend enjoyed the soup. I asked him how it was and he said that it was actually really good. You can believe I how much relief I felt when he told me that. Aside from the service being really slow at times, the food is definitely delicious. We had ordered spring rolls as well and that was the first time I had ever eaten their spring rolls. They weren't that bad actually. I also love that they give you free tea. I can't not drink at least a cup or two whenever I go there. Of course after tasting my boyfriend's mom's Vietnamese home made noodles, I absolutely love them and would love to eat them whenever I could, but unfortunately I can't. Not really an authentic Vietnamese cuisine. Most of customers are non-Asian Americans from the Air Force base, at least during the lunch hour. This place seems OK for them. But if you are looking for something more authentic, I would try elsewhere. Their rice plate entree is fusion of Chinese and Vietnamese. The staffs are not friendly. Their price is good which is the reason I am not mad as much. I gave 2-star based on if I would come back. The answer is no. read more

This restaurant was recommended by a couple of friends, so we stopped in for lunch on Saturday. It was busy but not packed like we've heard it is on weekdays. There were quite a few servers, but service itself was minimal, I guess. No one ever even asked if we wanted a drink, they just dropped 2 waters and hot teas on the table. We're not too familiar with Vietnamese food and weren't sure what to order, but our server was in such a hurry, questions were, well, out of the question. In the end, we liked everything we ordered with the exception of the app sampler (all bland fried food). What we loved is that if the menu indicated that an item was spicy, it really is. Oh, and their use of so many fresh ingredients. Can't forget to mention that! Thank you! We'll return, but to get pho to go. I'm still scratching my head about the kerosene heaters scattered all over the restaurant and utter lack of decor. $5000 in banquettes and a little server training could make this place a solid 5-star dining experience. read more

Feel this place is over-rated. Maybe because I've got used to the good Pho in Seattle. The pho here tastes a bit blank, and as many reviewers have pointed out, they don't offer basils. I wish they offer more variaties of Pho, like veggie, chicken, and multiple selections of beef (roundeye, tripes, etc...). Also wish they have a dipping plate for the sause on every table. The portion is small compared to the price. Feels like it doesn't worth it. tried two visits just based on local recommendations, based both times. first visit we had a dirty table, noticed dirty walls and floors, very unfriendly waitress, and the food was just ok. went back to try the highly recommended pho, got the same unfriendly waitress, got a pot of tea with no cups (pot looked dirty so maybe better this way), and a fried rice came out and was rancid-- we left and will never go back. plenty of other decent options with friendlier people, regular food, and clean spaces. read more

I gave 3 stars because as great as the food is the service needs severe help. Waited 20 minutes, no drink, no waitress, nothing! Had to ask for a menu, our drinks and even had to flag them down to order. No one checked up on us. Had to ask for the bill. Just sad. I went to this restaurant after work on friday. The food was great I really like the Bun Bo Hue soup. The service was terrible around dinner time but a few weeks ago I went in there during lunch and the servers were nice and friendly. The young girls there were just standing there at the front desk talking. They were very unattentive. I had to get up and get my own sauce at the other little table. But overall this is a good little hole in the wall restaurant to eat at. By the way get rid of those young girls that just stand there talking and dont do nothing that is very upsetting to me one of them rolled their eyes at me when I didnt exactly know what I wanted on the menu. read more

I liked this place a lot better before they moved. The food is still pretty good and I am sure the kitchen is cleaner, but the service has gone down drastically. The staff seems to have an awful lot of time to stand around and talk to each other. I was there for lunch one day and watched a young man sit unattended by any of the staff nearly the entire time I was there. The other night I called to place a carry out order, I was placed on hold and forgotten. I got in my car drove to the restaurant and walked in, all while still on hold. When I stated my dissatisfaction about the issue the 4 employees huddled around the front desk scattered like flies. I was told my order would be ready in ten to fifteen minutes to make up for their lack of service, but I waited much longer. It will be awhile before the mood for Linhs again. I"m a Vietnemese food lover,and have been here several times.EVERY time the service was terrible.Sure my meal got to me,but it always feels like I am an inconvenience to them.Maybe they hate their jobs.The servers are always cold and snobby.I consider myself a pleasant person.Tip well.Very courteous..NOTHING could win over their bad attitudes.As for food..I will only order the pho.Its the only good thing I've had there.I enjoyed it..it was a little different,but good.abundant side plates.You can tell the soft rolls are made in advance and refrigerated.not the freshest.I came back because some of my family are picky eaters,so the Chinese half of the menu is perfect for them,as they do enjoy Chinese and the Chinese lunch combo is a deal.I've went with friends and ordered other that Pho,and its always been gross.The crepes are slimy, so if i go..i stick to Pho.However since the last visit,with yet another bad service experience..(we're talking 10 times dined their and ALWAYS attitudes)..I'm done.Not going back.The only good things I can say is if you want Pho, and your dining partners aren't into it,but enjoy chinese..then it will do.I do however frequent the Asian grocery next door.I feel bad.. I LOVE this place. Have been going there for years, and have never been disappointed. Always get the pho, and it's always on point, but my hubby ordered the Spicy Salted Pork last night and it was FREAKING AMAZING. Think little bits of boneless fried chicken-tasting goodness, all extra crispy and delicious...yummo! Yes, SOMETIMES, the service is a little lacking, I however do not blame the poor, over -worked waitresses, but the management who don't get those poor girls some more help, as the place is always packed and I always see the same 3 girls doing the job of at least six people! They hostess, they wait tables, they do their own bussing, they take the phone orders, they do everything except cook! It's hard for me to judge a waitress as I have been one in the past, so I feel their pain. And the prices are extremely reasonable. Expect a wait if you go at any peak mealtimes. We had eaten at the original Linh's place, so thought we'd give the new place a try. It has a nice, new, clean bistro look to it. The place was not crowded, yet they seated us right next to the kitchen door, where they keep a cart on which the servers/bussers throw the dirty dishes. After a few minutes of CLANG! CLANG! CLANG!, we asked to move farther away. They shouldn't sit anyone there except as a last resort. We ordered some goi cuon as an appetizer. My wife ordered bún bò xào and I ordered mi xao thap cam. I tried to order in Vietnamese, as I speak it fluently, but the waiter didn't speak a word of it, sooo..... we ordered by menu number. He brought out the goi cuon, and after we had taken one bite, he brought out the rest of the order. WHAT?! The goi cuon was actually split open and had a very bland taste to it. My wife liked her bun bo xao, but said Little Saigon's was better. The noodles on my mi xao thap cam were very hard and undercooked, the chicken was tough, and the beef had spent way too much time on the grill. I won't go back until I get this terrible taste out of my mouth. I love Vietnamese food, but this fusion thing they seem to have tried just isn't working. read more
