10 mo. after discovering Lin's, it's an absolute staple for me & my 15 yr old, every single time she's w/ me we go! Going today in fact! I wish I could just sit there and eat their food for hours on end... I always think of the movie Defending your life with Albert brooks where he's told in that in between earth and heaven "judgement city" place he's in, you can eat as much as you want and never get full or gain a pound and everything is absolutely delicious... I want that ability at Lin's! Mmmmmm!!! I could live in this place and eat every meal there!

Nice place.. Good ambience.. Tasty food.. Service is great. My family liked it... But, I am not too fond of Chinese food to be a regular.

This place is great. The best Asian buffet in the area. All of the food is fantastic. Hands down my favorite.

It may sound over the top to say this, but I am pretty well convinced that Lin's Buffet is the best Chinese Buffet that I have ever visited.

Review Visit: December 16th, 2012…read more Jade Garden, or as the locals call in, 'Jah-day Gar-deen' (with a french accent). Maybe it is just my circle of friends that call it that, but it's a fun take on a pretty delicious Chinese restaurant. This one is a pretty well-known place in East Peoria that almost everyone has as it is not only delicious, but one of the few Chinese places to get food, up until recently. Being a local favorite among a lot of people I know, we decided to go there and get some food. At it's core, Jade Garden is your typical 'fast food Chinese place'. It has the dated light up menu, it has the giant paper menu and it has the kids running around. Now these aren't negative things. But if you never been to one of these places, those are the things you can expect. I can't remember this trip verbatim. We got there, ordered food and sat down. They were nice enough to bring our food out to us as we were seated around the corner from the cashier counter. Typically these places do not have a ton of seating and this place is the same, if not having a bit more than what I am used to. Now I have visited a lot of these style of restaurants and for the most part, they are all about the same tasting. But Jade Garden is a notch above. Not sure what the difference here is. Everything just tasted a bit better. Even my friends agreed that it was super good. Even on sub sequential visits, I have had great food. To wrap up the first visit though, we all enjoy a great meal and even hung out for awhile afterwards to relax, chit-chat and let the food settle. Since my first visit, East Peoria has acquired a Panda Express and a Jun's Chinese Restaurant (which has unfortunately closed). I am kind of jumping around here but Jade is a notch above your typical fast food Chinese place. If you find yourself in the East Peoria area and need some great Chinese, give 'Jah-day Gar-deen' a chance! Photos are a bit lacking for this place, so I will try to get more when I go back in the near future.

The first two times I came here were mediocre at best, I decided to give it one last chance after I…read morereceived terrible news and messed up cooking my dinner. Worst decision ever. I knew it probably wasn't going to be great being later in the evening. The chicken tasted and smelled microwaved, the egg rolls seemed to be double or tripled fried, and overall everything was inedible. They don't have nor offer traditional sauce options, and I have never received anything even close to decent customer service. I will never return, no matter how desperate I am.

I had an overnight work trip to Peoria and after a long day of driving from Detroit the last thing…read moreI wanted to do was to find a restaurant and dine in. DoorDash came to the rescue and Chinatown Kitchen came up highly recommended. I was thinking of some Vietnamese food as pho is my favorite but they closed early. I'm glad because Chinatown Kitchen was really good. First let me just say there will be enough food to feed 3 people or two hungry people. I got the happy family with chicken, shrimp, imitation crab, pork, and beef. It was loaded with tons of vegetables and a mild but flavorful brown sauce. It came with a huge side of fried rice. The fried rice had peas, diced carrots, and onion in there which I always appreciate instead of just plain rice. I also tried the à la carte pork egg roll (hot, crispy, and excellent). I did my best but at the end could only make a dent in a third of it. Which means one thing: leftovers for breakfast...lol

My friend and I wanted to get authentic Irish food on St. Patty's Day, but every place was packed and we wanted food ASAP. So we settled on a nearby Chinese restaurant that we both had never tried. All these reviews/descriptions are going to sound the same. Friendly staff, small restaurant, limited seating, good food. That pretty much sums up Chinatown Kitchen. Would love to had tried it while hammered. Maybe another St. Patty's Day!

Review Visit: February 14th, 2013…read more As I write this blog, I am eating some Cherry Garden! I was in Washington for a weekend and hungry so I decided to try Cherry Garden again; since I haven't had it since 2013. My previous visit was on Valentine's Day and I remember not being too excited with the food back then. I forget what I ordered but it was probably something like chicken fried rice or general tsao's, since those are my go-to orders. It was good but nothing great. I've talked to other people who live in the area and they love it, so it may just be a personal thing. But hey, things changed after 5 years, right? This time I ordered some ham fried rice since I got some at Golden Kitchen a few weeks ago and have been craving more since then. Did Cherry Garden scratch my itch? Kind of. The ham fried rice was pretty good but lacking that WOW factor. It's almost like they cook their food in a more... healthier fashion. With America's growing obesity issue, that could be a good thing! But I digress. The inside of Cherry Garden offers plenty of seating. The area where you order food to-go is separated from the seating area by some doors. So if you go to eat-in, you are secluded a bit from the traffic of people coming in and placing orders. With it attached to a strip mall area, there is plenty of parking, so that'll never be a concern. There is a website advertised on the menu but be warned when you visit it; my computer alerted me that it was a malicious website. Just think of one of those giant double-sided Chinese menus and that's exactly what this place offers. My fortune cookie was spot on though. It said, "Traveling at this time would be a good investment of time & money". Which is fantastic as I have traveled quite a bit lately and will be going to St. Louis soon to see a Cardinals game with my mom. So let's see what places I visit while down there! Eat cherry, be merry.

Review Visit: June 20th, 2016…read more Eating too much Fast Dragon can make you a Fat Dragon. After spending the afternoon fishing at Pekin Lagoon with my girlfriend at the time, we were just as hungry as the fish we were trying to catch. I asked what she wanted and she said Chinese. So, we pulled up Google to see what local places they had in Pekin. There weren't too many places to pick from but since we both never had Fast Dragon, we made that our destination. Fast Dragon is your typical local 'hole in the wall' quick Chinese restaurant. I don't mean that in a derogatory manner by any means. What I mean is that if you were to visit here or any other similar restaurant, your experience would be the same. Our food came out fast. It was decently priced for the amount of food you get. The menu had that familiar look, layout and options to it. This was the exact experience we got here. We were both starving by the time we ordered our food and took a seat at a table. Our poor stomachs didn't have to wait long before the lady who took our order brought it out to us. My girlfriend at the time ordered some sweet and sour chicken with fried rice, as that is her usual go-to for Chinese. I also ordered my usual, which is a General Tsao's with fried rice. The serving size was ample and typical of a place like this. We devoured our food like a hungry dragon. Each bit was delicious but nothing I would go out of my way to get when places in my town offer a very similar food experience. But, if you are a resident of Pekin and you have a hankering for Chinese, Fast Dragon will fulfill everything you need to scratch that food itch.
