My boyfriend and I were attending a conference across the street from Lin's Palace at the Hyatt. When we arrived, we were debating if we should do take out or eat-in but because of the poor decor, lack of customers, and because we had to be back in a half hour, we decided to do take out. I ordered the chicken with string beans over white rice. It was mediocre. I've had better. An egg roll came with my lunch too and it was rather disgusting because I would find bits of black/grey-like pieces in my egg roll and couldn't tell if it was mushroom or something inedible. My boyfriend ordered the chicken with broccolli and his rice smelled odd . He wasn't too happy with the quality of the food even though it's a Chinese take-out restaurant. Our friend ordered food before us and he received a fortune cookie, but we didn't. Not sure what that's about. I think next time we return to Morristown, we won't be grabbing food from Lin's Place. read more

This place gets 5/5 on its taiwanese food portion of the menu. I think if you're looking for the typical chinese food (eg, general tsos) it's fine, but nothing out of the ordinary. Minced pork with rice: (5/5) - don't even see it on the menu, but ordered it based on other yelp reviews and it's great! Special fried rice with garlic/sausage (5/5) - very unique and tasty dish. Also portions are huge! Fishball soup was a 3/5 for me, as well as the chow fun (3/5). I would come back to try other taiwanese dishes as well. read more

Real Taiwanese food. Otherwise, go to Flushing. If you're ordering the other stuff (generic American Chinese like General's Tso), well-- I'm not surprised other reviewers were disappointed. Get the homemade Taiwanese sausage served with slices of raw garlic. The whole fish (with the head on) was pretty good. Don't know the names of the other stuff I had though, including the vegetables home grown by the owner (some kind of mustard greens?). This review will be as disjointed and disorganized as to reflect the restaurant itself. 1. There was a bug crawling on the table. A small one. I said nothing. Why? I should have. I should have alarmed our table of 7 people on a fairly slow Saturday afternoon. 2. Waitress made us find chairs in the restaurant and put them at our own table 3. Waitress made us take our own drinks off the trays, our own food off the trays, practically made us bus our own plates 4. Service was approximately one woman (owner's wife) and some guy from the kitchen who was the only one who possessed any competency, but made us raise our hands for chopsticks or utensils. 5. The prices were completely ridiculous for what you got, everything was oily and tasted like scrapings from the bottom of an old wok or saucepan that was tossed into the alley behind Chinatown and used as a bed by feral cats for three years. 7. Waitress wouldn't let someone at our table order chicken fingers because they were take-out menu only. Huh??? 8. Friend #2 ordered a rice noodle dish that didn't say anything about fish. Received some sort of fish stew concoction that he found unpalatable and disgusting. There were barely any rice noodles. Waitress insisted this is what he ordered. 9. Place had the distinct aroma of old seafood. I suspect is was from the lone sushi bar in the corner, which looked sad and empty. 10. Can this restaurant decide on what to name itself? 11. Friend #3 born and raised in Queens attests he has had better Chinese food in the projects. I am inclined to agree. Zero stars, if possible. I ate here with my family and wife in 10/2014 so it's been too long to remember the precise dishes ordered but the basics are a fine interior design, diverse Taiwanese-centric menu, and very attentive service typical for Chinese restaurants in central NJ. Relatively fast service and good portion size. A little disappointed by the flavor, a bit bland and did not fully meet my expectations. Usually this place is crowded, however this time it was not. The dumplings were lukewarm, borderline cold, and seemed like they were microwaved. Last time I went here the food was much better the line to sit down was 45 minutes long. Recently, it was not close to capacity. When I went to sit down, no one was at the front to greet me, and I seated myself. It took a while for the waitress to stop by my table as they were understaffed. When friends came later, the waiter did not get to them for at least 10 minutes. Lin's is truly a gem in Morristown. While the ambiance is a random hodgepodge, the Taiwanese food is truly outstanding. If you aren't familiar with Taiwanese, then ask Mr. Lin who will surely steer you in the right direction. The sausage is a must have; as are the shrimp spring rolls. Mr. Lin also grows his vegetables fresh in his garden so ask him what is fresh and you won't be sorry. Also I find it funny that other reviewers judge a Chinese place by a sushi bar and miso soup - that's Japanese food! You wouldn't order Italian food at a French restaurant so please do not order Japanese from a Chinese/Taiwanese place. read more

Lin's Palace is my new go-to for Chinese. Order off the Taiwanese style menu and you MUST get the "special fried rice with garlic and sausage." It's not like any fried rice you've ever had. Big delicious chunks of the taiwanese sausage, aromatic and flavorful onions and scallions, and the perfect garlic punch in every bite. Magnificent. Also delicious are the scallion pancake and salt and pepper chicken ("chicken with peppercorn salt" on the men). read more

Friendly service when I sat down. That's it. All down hill from there. Empty restaurant, yet all 3 members of staff sat there folding napkins. Attentiveness was no where to be found. 10 minute wait for someone to walk over, ask how everything was, etc? For an empty restaurant? Unacceptable, no matter what level of dining experience you are expecting. Granted, I wasn't expecting much here, so I guess no loss. Fried dumplings were average. No creative presentation. Served on an old plate that has probably been washed 3x a day since 1942. Pork filling was not attention grabbing. These dumplings are the ones you eat late night, after drinking 300 beers. rice noodle dish? Boring, and flavorless. Service is critical in my opinion. That critically failed today for me. This is one of the better and more authentic Chinese / Taiwanese restaurants. We have been there a few time and were never disappointed. If you order the usual Americanized food items such as General Tso chicken, you will miss the mark. The restaurant actually have an authentic Chinese food menu upon request. Ask for items such as fish thick soup, Chinese sausage, stir fried pea tips, , short ribs with pepper & salt, or oyster with black bean sauce. Stay away from sushi and sesame chicken. read more

Although it tends to be a more quieter atmosphere, you know that there is service ALWAYS with a smile. I believe there is a sushi bar that is available during the lunch rush with fresh seafood daily for those who have a desire for a Japanese flavor. Try the House Chicken - you won't regret it. My 2nd time here. Typical Chinese American food fare however it's also has Organic Veggie Chinese food/Vegan, and sushi place. So this maybe your spot if you want veggies/vegan. Favorite take-out, delivery and eat-in classic Chinese option in town. Morristown, for all of its restaurants, sometimes just doesn't have a good option for frequent options (BBQ, falafel) - for your classic Chinese dishes though, Lin's is your best call. Yes, there are fancier versions created at Ming, but for your Chicken Lo Mein, Egg Drop Soup, and everything else you'd normally order this is the best option in town. They have a HUGE menu which covers all your Sesame Chicken, General Tso's and the rest without a problem, but then there are some more classic options which I'll admit I've never had. Not high on ambiance, they deliver (can take 45 minutes, but they'll be honest about it) and can take out. It's a good place for us Jews to go with a few friends on Christmas, but not ideal for a date of any sort. BYOB of course. Net net, it will do the job for takeout and delivery in Morristown and is your best option for the classics, just know it may take a while to get it delivered. read more

Only place I've found authentic oyster omelet in America. The sausage fried rice is also delicious. Ordering two plates is a little bit too much for one person though, ended up not finishing! I stopped by for dinner and was greeted by Mr. Lin who was very friendly. I ordered scallion pancakes and seafood soup. I asked the waitress if the seafood soup could be made with no non-seafood meat product in it, i.e. no chicken broth, and she assured me that they could prepare it that way. The broth was prepared as such; however, they end up putting in beef meatballs! I'm not sure if this is standard and if so, they should make it clear that the seafood soup includes non-seafood meat. The scallion pancakes were very good. If you have any dietary restrictions, make sure it is clearly communicated to the wait staff. You may want to double check. read more

Let's just say I do take-out here purely out of convenience. After witnessing their sushi counter (which seemed to really be of low quality) I don't trust this place enough to try their sushi and have only tried their Chinese menu. I've ordered a few dim sum items (there are certain items that they have on the menu that they NEVER seem able to serve as I have attempted to order them couple of times only to be told they don't have that available). Overall the dim sum items are ok, nothing fantastic. Just the typical store that fries up and whips up items when orders are in ... as this is otherwise a pretty dead / quite eatery. My usual order would be the shrimp with veg plus rice dish. Sometimes I get them to make some seafood with veg soup for me. I love the fragant jasmine rice they serve and always eat more than I should. Sometimes I order the lunch portion which is half the size of the dinner portion. It usually comes with an eggroll (which I hate and normally switch for a spring roll) and some other stuff. Not many restaurants in the vicinity deliver. Glad that Lin's does... even though it's only just across the street from the Hyatt. PS: This is a Taiwanese / Chinese restaurant and I have heard the owner swear really crudely (in Taiwanese) in the midst of ordertaking... Quite a turn-off. Came here for a late dinner while staying at Hyatt across the street. I was a little skeptical about eating here because of the slightly poorly maintained storefront. We thought it was a sushi place because of the large sign outside, but only saw a tiny sushi bar in the corner. It turns out that this place serves Taiwanese cuisine. The menu seemed average, I felt there weren't many Taiwanese specialties. We ordered fried rice, noodles and chicken lo mein. The food arrived in a timely manner and they were delicious. We were the only customers at the time so the owners chatted with us throughout the dinner. The owners were very friendly, they recommended places to visit and we learned that this family owned restaurant has been here for 30 years, very impressive! read more

Being Taiwanese--- my family and I wanted to like this place. But unfortunately it was a little lackluster. There were good comments about the sausage, but everything else was a bit too bland. The miso soup a bit too watery, the tofu tasted kind of weird. Their mock meat dish without that chicken texture of good mock meats. Then their thick thick spring roll with tiny cabbage shreads...all left something to be desired. It was less appetizing than a normal take-out restaurant. For what it's worth, I think they use good fresh ingredients and everyone there was very friendly and polite. Unfortunately, some recipes may need some help--- they need flavor! I'm glad I live 5 minutes away from this place. It's not your run-of-the-mill Asian fast food restaurant. The food is authentic (from what I've been told by my friends) and it suits my spicy palette too. I like the quality of food - ingredients are organic and seafood is wild caught. They don't publicize this much, which is what makes me respect Lin's more. They want people to come for the food, not for the hype. The ambiance isn't fancy, it's homely+BYOB. Mr. Lin will usually come talk to you and make you feel welcome. That being said, don't expect a fine dine experience. I usually get a take out. My favourite dish recently there has been the double sauteed pork. It's excellent AND they can adjust the spice according to your taste. Come here for the Taiwanese menu, not the American style Chinese food. I've only gotten takeout from here, and my favorite go-to that I've tried so far is the Taiwanese sausage with garlic rice, a sweet garlicky fried rice dish with chunks of delicious Taiwanese sausage. The brown pork (braised pork) over white rice is also a good cheap option, though it's not as good as the braised pork at the A & J Bistro on Route 10. Generous portions, and a good option if you're looking for takeout that's a little different than your run of the mill Chinese food. read more

We had take-out from this place on two occasions, ordering off their Taiwanese menu: Our food was great the first time - we had the squid with squid ink sauce and basil, taiwanese sausage and pork with Szechuan cabbage soup. The second time, however, was horrible - we had the chicken with peppercorn salt (not very flavorful, had more bones than meat, deep fried but soggy on arrival), toro fish soup (this was ok, but the soup was thickened with al little too much corn starch). Wonton soup was bland and somewhat oily. I had the stinky tofu. Being a Taiwanese restaurant, you'd think it would be really stinky.....but nope, they toned down the flavor. When I worked in ShenZhen China for a year, I eventually grew fond of authentic stinky tofu and acquired the taste for it. I came back and immediated went to a Taiwanese restaurant in Flushing and realized, as much as love stinky tofu, this is just an American version of it. I was ecstatic when I found Lin's Place. Their pretty traditional Taiwanese. I love the fish ball soup and braised chicken (traditional Taiwanese dish). The Dan ay noodle was way too thick for my liking. You can only taste the chewiness of noodle and misses the flavor of the sauce. Homemade Sausage , maybe try frying it a little after cutting else the fatty fat is soft and chewy. So both side can get the benefit of the crunch that dish should have. But I will def go back and try more dishes. read more

I love Chinese food, but this one really disappointed me. Before I go any further, let me tell you why I ate there 4 times (lunch). Well, at Morristown NJ where I took the computer training, I did not see any fast food restaurant near me. There was one inside the building across this restaurant but that one was bad, really bad, and expensive. So, I decided to go outside and eat out. (There are two fine dining restaurants inside the training place, but if you don't want to spend over $20 dollars, they are not for you. ) So, my budget was limit, so I went to this one. The portion was small, I see people taking out rather eating in. Eating in is just a way to eat fast food, but inside, nothing fancy. The waiter/waitress was not busy at all. The food was basically fast food. I found some Mall food court food better than this one. The price is not cheap, I spent around $10-$12 including tips (Tea and/or water). The taste was below average, but better than the cafe inside the building where I took training. If you eat Chinese food a lot, you will know this one is really below average. So, if you are around that area, don't go that one for lunch if you don't have to. However, if you are like me, going for training, and can't find choices, this may be for you. read more

Interesting decor for a Taiwanese restaurant. Some menu items are authentic Taiwanese dishes, including stinky tofu and oyster pancake. Though prices is more than 25% higher than chinatown or flushing. Scallion noodle - pretty decent and quite filling. The stinky tofu is not as stinky as I like it to be and the picked cabbage is also not as satisfying. Thanks to whoever suggested the taiwanese sausage. I like this place. If you're looking for a traditional Chinese/ Taiwanese place to dine, this is your restaurant. It's not the fanciest or the best furnished, there's no glitz and it's not modern, but it is traditional! I found it charming :) They will have dishes that you won't be able to find at other chinese restaurants, especially in Morristown. My boyfriend and I ordered Taiwanese noodle soup, bean sprout vine/dou miao (my fave vegetable dish) and stir fried vegetable noodles. They were all very flavorful although a bit salty. We had a conference for an Asian American ministry I direct...and a bunch of our students/staff were eating there. They said it was ligit, so I went with them. Found the food to be very good...it apparently had a Taiwanese orientation. I had a great meal, especially the sausages with fresh garlic. I even tried "stinky tofu." Although I will probably never ejnoy that dish, I did appreciate my other team members who really like it. I'll try it again, but it was really hard to get down! So based on my first very positive experience there, were going to invade the place with over 35 people for dinner! I came to Morristown for work and I stayed at Hyatt across the street and my coworker told me I have to try Lin's Palace when I go there because I'm from Taiwan and they have authentic Taiwanese food! So I went and I was very satisfied!!! The owner and owners family are super nice and their food taste soooooooo good and authentic!!! They use the vegetable they grow themselves and it's so fresh and healthy!! I love everything about this restaurant and if I could give it a 100 stars I would!!! Finally I found real Chinese food (Taiwanese to be precise ) in the wasteland of Chinese food that is Central New Jersey . Having moved to Bedminster two years ago finding Lin's was the first time I can say the food was made with care , with love , with integrity and not with an careless attitude towards the local customers. So what if New Jerseyians have no idea what authentic Chinese food is supposed to taste like - help them to understand it by giving them the real thing and not the greasy mess that not a single Chinese person including those working in the restaurants would eat .
