What an amazing experience! My husband and I booked a behind the scenes tour for a Sunday at 9am, their first summer hours. It was just us and 1 other couple, so this felt very intimate, which made it feel even more special. This is a non-profit, so I think the cost of the tour is absolutely worth it! We also decided to add on lion feeding for the 2 of us, which took place at the end. During the tour, we made our way around and got so much information from Tyler. You could tell he truly loves what he does and the animals love him right back! The animals are very well taken care of, and have plenty of space for having previously been at the MGM. When we were prepping for the lion feeding after our tour, Tyler was kind enough to show us the fridges of food and how much they go through in a day, which was a lot! Of the lions you could choose from, we chose to feed Cheeto. She was beautiful and very nice! I think this place is great! They have different kinds of birds (flying and non) and tortoises. This is a great family friendly place as well. You learn a lot and get to see really cool animals pretty close! The parking lot is kind of small if you are there later in the day, so that is something to keep in mind when deciding when to go. This is not a huge zoo, this is a habitat for about 13 lions. They were mostly sleeping while we were walking through, who knew they liked to sleep 18-21 hours a day. It is clean, I found myself wanting them to have pools and more shade. Not realistic and in reality these are cats that natural survive high heat environments. They do have enrichment activities for the cats that you get a chance to watch. The staff are kind and some hesitate to stop and answer a question or two. Worth stoping by and supporting. They are now doing yoga with the lions a couple days a month. read more

I've always wanted to go here. Loved this place, Lions galore. twenty minutes from home. A retirement home for aging lions.... Many of the old MGM lions. Non profit. The weather was wonderful for it (March). We were worried about crowds when we parked and saw a school bus in the lot. But they had toured before opening and were on their way out. There weren't many people at all. It was so enjoyable. We watched them feed the lions and do enrichment activities for them. They also have many exotic birds as well, macaws, cockatoos, etc. so up close and personal. I highly recommend at least one visit here if you are in Las Vegas/Henderson. read more

If you're in Vegas with kids, you have to visit Lion Habitat Ranch! This incredible small rescue is home to lions, tigers, giant tortoises , colorful parakeets, and even talking parrots. It's intimate, personal, and nothing like a big zoo -- you truly feel like you're visiting someone's home to see well-loved animals (safely, of course). If you are looking for a break from the Strip, you have to check out the Lion Habitat Ranch in Henderson! It is such a hidden gem and was easily one of the highlights of our trip. First off, the lions are absolutely magnificent. Getting to see them up close (safely behind the glass) is a breathtaking experience. You can really tell how well-loved and cared for these animals are-they look healthy, happy, and some were even quite playful during our visit! The staff were incredibly friendly and knowledgeable. First thought, smaller than I expected. Came here to do yoga with the lions which was a nice experience. The lions are all on their individual cages except for the 4 siblings who stay together. The staff was very knowledgeable and open to conversations. Overall great experience, however, I did feel bad for the lions. Seeing them captured in the small cages in the desert. We visited about a month or so ago, and had a great time here! It's a small place, but with so many lions to see, and up close, it was a better experience than we expected. We were even able to catch a feeding while there and that was really neat! The hours are a little bit short here but overall a great experience I took my kids here. The hours were a little bit mixed up online so we got there after they were allowing people in. when I made a call, I spoke to Keith on the phone and he arranged for me to get my young children to get a last-minute view of the lions very nice gentleman very nice staff very knowledgeable. We were looking for something new to try with the kiddos during Labor Day weekend and I found the Lion Habitat Ranch on Yelp. I was surprised I hadn't heard of it before, but the reviews were positive so we figured we'd give it a chance. You book your reservation and pay online, which secures your specific time slot. We selected 10am on Monday as it was going to be well into the 100's that day. A big plus is that they allow 1 child free entry per adult ticket. We arrived a little early and waited in our car outside the gate until they opened, about 5 minutes before 10. The parking lot is small, but I imagine they only allow a set amount of reservations at a time. The checkin process entails the adults signing waivers and if there are any children, writing their name and age on the waiver. Each adult then gets a wristband and you are able to head outside. We were immediately greeted by a very kind volunteer, Jim, who informed us that they would be feeding one of the male lions soon and we could get a picture with him. We wandered around for a few minutes as the other groups were checked in and then they called us over. Since we were the first group there, they took our picture first which was nice. The photo op in the jeep with the lion behind us was a cute touch. After the photo we were free to wander around at our leisure. The next cage over was home to two male lions, brothers, and we were able to watch their feeding. The volunteer was really great at explaining what she was doing, tidbits about the lions and answered our questions. We repeated this with each cage and learned more each time. We were informed that at least one lion is selected daily for enrichment, meaning they give them extra stimulation via large balls or other things. The lion that day had baby food spread on a large ball that he would lick off and engage with. All of the lions here, with the exception of BellaDonna, are directly descendents of the lions that were on exhibit at the MGM. Belladonna is one of the remaining lions from that time. We were told that this was originally a holding place for the MGM lions when they were not on exhibit. After that closed, they moved the lions and their offspring here to live permanently. They don't actively allow the lions to mate, so they will just live out their lives here. The thing that struck me the most was how much the volunteers and staff cared about the animals. I did not get any sense that the lions and other animals were not well cared for, they seemed as happy as an animal in captivity could be. The icing on the cake was at the end the very nice volunteer, Jim, who greeted us asked the girls if they wanted to learn some more about the animals. He sat down with them and took the time to show and allow them to touch various animal artifacts, sharing knowledge about each. I can't recommend this spot enough! I even am considering volunteering here myself in the future. read more

We really enjoyed our visit here. Workers were so informative and the animals seemed to have enough space. Apparently, the MGM lions were kept here when not at the MGM Casino. MGM stopped displaying lions in 2012 so this place started to open up to the pubic. It's about a 60-90 minute visit and you can see the lions up close and hopefully hear them roar. If you have kids, this is a good option then head over to Bass Pro Shops to kill more time. I'll be back. read more

My boyfriend and I visited the Lion Habitat Ranch for an alphabet date. We had a great time! It does look a bit run down but it's ran by a non-profit organization. We came in the middle of a very hot day in Vegas and the majority of the lions were sleeping in their a/c dens. We still got a chance to see some of them and we even caught Rocky at his 1:00 pm feeding time to get a cute photo op! We spoke to one of the volunteers who told us lions are actually the laziest cat and that only 35% of lions hunts are successful. It was cool learning new things about my favorite animal. We visited their gift shop and I came across the Fahlo bracelets. This was my first time hearing about them and I found them so cool, so my bf bought me one as a keepsake. Fahlo partners with organizations to educate and inspire wildlife conservation efforts. My bracelet' linked me to a Lion in Africa named Kwenia. Super cool! read more

He was knowledgeable, engaging, and clearly passionate about the animals, which made the entire visit even more meaningful. August Thursday midday After breakfast we drove 20-30minutes to the Lion Habitat Ranch, a retirement home for the MGM lions. Parking is free. From the outside the habitat is unassuming, but we spent an hour and a half hanging out with the lions, the turtles, and birds. Upon entering we were greeted by tweedledum and tweedledee, emus that created thumping sounds when presented with lettuce. Ostriches hung out directly under the misters. Lions came up to the volunteer and workers for snacks. We tuned into two enrichment sessions for the lions and a bird talk. We watched lionesses Cheeto and Coco receive frozen treats for turning 14 years old, and lions Henry and George tear paper apart to get at taco seasoning. We snooped on many sleeping lions and lionesses, our visit coinciding with their 18-20 hour naps. The macaw said hi to us and waved goodbye. The bird keeper regaled us with stories of another bird who mimicked its old owners, coughing up a lung. We watched a tortoise methodically chew up pieces of lettuce. We got a photo op with Rocky the lion while we sat in a jeep. The restrooms were clean. The gift shop was nice. The keepers and the volunteers were awesome and engaging. Well worth a visit when you're in Vegas! read more

Loved our time there. The animals were great and the educational sessions were good. They were excellent at announcing their care & training so we could attend, watch and ask questions. What would I change? Some of the plexiglass windows were scratched so it was hard to take pictures of some of the animals. If you're ever in Las Vegas/Henderson area, lion Habit Ranch is a cute and small "zoo" that is a fun outing for kids. One of the star attractions is Ozzie the giraffe. There's an inexpensive opportunity to feed him lettuce, which really is a cute and fun experience for the kids. It was lovely to see all of the animals that they take care of. They have large enclosures, fun facts about them and their names. We saw some birds, lions and lioness, emu and ostriches, and even some wild rabbits! They had volunteers who help patrons take photos in their photo op spot (a jeep that sits beneath a lion named Swiftie's resting spot). The gift shop was really affordable and all of the workers were so friendly and kind. If it's the month of your birthday, you can also get free admission by showing your ID. Children get free admission with a paying adult. The admission prices are also very affordable! Overall, it's a nice small attraction to bring your kids to for a few hours or less. read more

We absolutely enjoyed our visit at the lion habitat. We got to watch the lions get their enrichment toys, and their feedings. They're very vocal towards one another and it was awesome to experience them communicating. They have lots of parrots including this cutie at the gift shop. Also ostriches and emus and tortoises. Me and my boyfriend went to the habitat to celebrate both of our birthdays, and decided to feed a lion as well. Experience was absolutely amazing, staff were very friendly and helpful! The park is smaller, however we had been doing laps around the habitat for an hour since the lions were constantly doing something. One thing we really enjoyed was the shade & misters. Okay, this was a GREAT idea to visit!!! We are big fans of a great zoo and I just didn't know what to expect when we found this little gem. We were rewarded with some up close and personal visits with some MASSIVE felines and a quirky Giraffe. (There's also some tortoises and birds thrown in for fun.) Important: All of the animals here are part of a rescue organization and a charitable organization. Some of these were "show" animals from the old casinos and some are exotic rescues that are being humanely taken care of in their age and giving the public and up close experience. First, you'll sign your life away on a waiver that promises you won't sue if you get eaten and also makes you validate that you aren't an animal "rights" group that is going to make bad choices. Then you'll enter and walk around some massive enclosures housing some beautiful, well fed lions in various states of relaxing, chuffing, or spraying for distance out of their cages. (Pro tip: If the cate backs up and lifts tail, immediately move to the side.) You can interact with the animals by feeding either the Giraffe or the cats. None are forced to eat or participate and it was absolutely amazing to see a 500 pound cat excited to eat the Scooby Snacks you're (safely) feeding through the cage. There's a little gift shop here where you can buy some artsy-fartsy things as well as shirts, bags, and swag painted by the Giraffe. There are limited drinks and snacks available, too. Definitely recommend to people of all ages and abilities. This will be on our must visit list each trip to Vegas. read more

The Lion Habitat Ranch is an amazing 501(c)(3) organization that's dedicated to wildlife conservation. This location is clean and thoughtfully curated. Each of the lions dens have 1-4 lions each. Separated by siblings, the lions seem to be closely bonded to one another. The handlers feeds them ground horse. All of the handlers I came across are knowledgeable and professional. I really appreciated that the staff members are personable and willing to engage with visitors. I asked about a dozen questions per animal, and was met with facts and kindness. I think this goes along way considering children and their families are, going to love to ask questions about these beautiful animals.
