This Lion Market is "a bit cleaner" than the others I've been to. This is located in the Gould Shopping Center, close to Tai Pan and the LaserTag place. Good place to pick up your asian groceries and produce.

I dislike going to Asian supermarkets so much. I want to scream and pull my hair out every time I'm at one. Very obnoxiously rude people. I mean very!. The only reason why I go still is because I can't find a lot of these snacks, drinks, and fruits anywhere else. So these 3 stars are solely for their products. This particular Lion's usually always has fresh fruits and vegetables. Seafood section is alright. I love the drink aisle! So many drinks. I especially love the coconut milk drink, I would buy a case of it before but now they come in 6pk so I just buy 2. And 50 other can drinks. That's all I have in my fridge, a variety of Asian drinks! It's more clean and organized than most other Vietnamese markets I've been to. Prices is acceptable! I buy so much and my wallet isn't emptied at the end. That's always really nice.

I much prefer this location over the story Rd one. As soon as you walk in it doesn't feel like you're boxed in to go a specific way, it's much more open, the isles are wider and the selection is better. I specifically come here for sprouts, enoki mushroom, I always stock up on the soup base packets because I can't find them anywhere else too. The parking lot is very big though there isn't much shade. This location always has clean isles, they seem to put a lot of effort into the upkeep and it's noticeable. I never notice long lines here, just yesterday when we went as soon as we got into line an employee opened up another cash register and started ringing us up. Overall I would definitely try shopping here, the price point is right, the employees are helpful, and you'll most likely end up leaving with everything do you need and more.

They are starting to add more pastries and the displays are looking good, especially with the sesame buns and cheesy tarts, etc. I'm surprised that they are trying to beat pastry prices in the area and it's definitely looking good here. Decent prices and good looking pastries. Still feels like a startup though. Cashiers are training and doing their jobs. Hashi Market has been upgrading too. I purchased 3 large bags of dumplings for only $10. It was a good sale this weekend. Celery pork/leek-scallions pork/cilantro chicken/etc. I think their fresh vegetables have dropped in prices too ($1.49-$2.99 per lbs.). Finally. I come here for tofu selections too. You can also find good 1liter healthy coconut water for under $3 each now. Hashi Market is slowly improving and training more new employees inside. This grocery store is convenient and they have made the aisles more spacious to walk around. Food deli area is still operating. I think the place is much better now compared to when it was the Marina grocery store in past years. Japanese products are showing up more and things are more positive here. I'll be back to try a few more breads/buns. $1.99 for good looking breads is cheap and decent here.

Though, they have no area to sit down. They have good prices on some of their produce and other things. I also like that the prices are bold. LOL. NOTE: They do no allow photos!!! While I was shopping and taking pics of ingredients for a particular recipe I was going to make. An elderly gentlemen approached me and asked, "Why are you taking photos?" I answered, "Oh, I am going to write a review." He looked puzzled, then replied, "We don't allow photos!" Oh, ok this person is on staff at the market. Alright. I am not deterred. After years of construction, I was excited to finally check out Lee's Supermarket in San Jose, but…read morethe experience was pretty lackluster. Honestly, it didn't feel like a newly remodeled store. It felt more like they just put up a new sign outside. They might as well have had a banner that said "under new management." Lee's is known for their great sandwiches, so I expected more of a café-style setup where you could browse a variety of sandwiches and maybe sit down to eat. Instead, there's no seating area and the menu is just a large LCD screen listing sandwich names and prices with no photos. The store itself feels cramped, with most of the space dedicated to shelves rather than any place to relax or enjoy food. I was hoping for something closer to a Whole Foods style experience where you could grab a sandwich, a drink, and maybe meet friends. Instead, it feels like a typical Asian market without much innovation. The one cool touch was that every checkout lane had fresh baked baguettes ready to go. That and my sandwich was delicious but instead of eating it right than and there I had to drive home in traffic and eat it cold. I just love eating em' freshly made and the bread right out of the oven. For sandwiches, I'll probably stick to the regular Lee's Sandwich locations nearby.

Actually the outside still says "marina"…read morebut the receipt says Hashi and there are enough changes that tells me some slight changes have been made. This is actually my 'preferred' Asian grocery for my area...now. The produce department is significantly better/fresher than when it was Marina. Back in the Marina days, the produce were borderline sketchy, cheap yes, but if you found something, you better use/eat it within a few days, or else it may rot on you. Not here, most choices now seem fresher and sturdier. And still quite cheap, especially if there is a sale. 80% of my haul here is from this produce area to stock my kitchen for the week of a vegetable/fruit rich diet/habbit. I'm loving it! The Seafood area still seems quite the same. Marina was not bad in this department and Hashi is maintaining the choices and quality. I'll usually get something from the fresh seafood case as well. But if I want something more exotic or more premium then I'll have to go to another city like New Sang Chong in San Leandro or HMart in the south bay. The Meat section seems the same, maybe a tad cleaner in processing than when it was Marina. Things seem more cleanly cut and stacked. And the bulk meat you get by the pound behind the case are pretty darn inexpensive, especially for pork and chicken. If making a big family style dish I'll go here over Lucky's or Safeway most times. Pork Spareribs for $3/lb, boneless skinless chicken breast for $2/lb on special, and $3/lb for ground beef, ka mon brah, just can't beat those! Dry Goods the same as Marina, just maybe stocked a bit more. Marina had more holes/gaps in their shelves. So I have been coming in more since the changes cuz they have been working for me. So a positive change in the neighborhood...I gotta show my support and approval.
