Owner was very kind and apologetic about the wait, it was very busy as I believe they were having an event next door, but I definitely didn't mind! I come here to buy rose water, spices, and tea, it's more affordable and has more variety than a larger scale store. The building is small but well organized, and the most of the other cliente seemed to be regulars and spoke with owner, so it feels quite happy and neighborly. Zero customer service, no sign saying no return visible! I bout a bought $30 worth of sweets and when I tried at home and they were very very stale and hard, I took them back and instead of him being sorry and apologizing, he was on the offense and said your taste buds maybe bad, and would not take the crap back and told me to call the bakery myself and ask for a refund! Lol Buyer beware of items you see that people might not buy as often! Middle Eastern food market with PG&E payment center. Lots of goodies inside, I picked up a fresh packet of pita for about 2 dollars. However, the area is poorly lit and the owner needs an education on courtesy. He "greets" me with a scowl on his face, he threw my change back at me with disdain, he pretty much made me feel like I was not wanted at his store. Of course, another shopper was there who spoke his language. He seemed to treat her nicely. You would think a Mom and Pop store would have a some sort of allegience to its neighborhood and know how to conduct a simple transaction with proper manners. I won't be going back, there's plenty of stores in the area which offer the same goods and don't make me feel like I'm some sort of subhuman species. read more

Somehow expected the International Express Market to be much more international. Mostly focused on the middle eastern clientele, you can surely find all the goodies you need for your gourmet sabzi, but do not expect to find cheap, super fresh produce. I found everything I wanted, but was not impressed like at other similar markets. This place is horrible! Where do I start? The service is very poor. The gentlemen behind the counter is just plain rude and obnoxious. I felt like my business was not wanted at his store. I got the feeling that if you not middle eastern you don't belong in the store. I bought pita bread, feta cheese, a few can goods and produce. Great little Middle Eastern Shop next to Bistro Tupaz. They have a nice selection of items and get their Lavash fresh daily. Sometimes they also have fresh hummus but tend to run out of it quickly -yeh it's that good. Customer service is good and the store is fairly clean. read more

We have been a customer if this grocery store for more than a year. I've heard that the owner changed about 4 years ago. Those who run this place are very polite and nice. I've been to many international markets in the Bay area, and this place offers fair, cheaper prices on most of the items than other grocery stores I have been in. Our friends who come from San Mateo is San Francisco do their shopping here. I love their flat bread, frozen lamb shanks, and fresh produces. Like many small stores, there's a minimum purchase requirement to pay by credit cards (I think $10). read more

I dropped by a couple of more times to this store and the prices of many dairy products in the refrigerator section still aren't posted. I bought some Bulgarian Feta which tasted fine but had a grainy texture which differs from that purchased from the International Food Bazaar on Curtner/Union. The clerk at the register was pretty distracted on her cell phone which probably helps her stave off boredom, considering that I was the only customer in the store. If you've been to the store before and are pleased with the price(s) and quality of what you bought, this store is great because you probably won't need to wait in a line to pay. If you love/savour Bulgarian Feta Cheese, you might consider heading to International Food Bazaar instead of buying a block here. read more

He wouldn't sell me their middle eastern bread for $10 as I only had a credit card. He said that he makes $0.15 for each bread and it's not feasible for him to sell except with cash. I have been there several times to pick up odds and ends of grocery. The timing of this was horrible as I had a few families over my house for a family death and I had to go across town just to get some bread. read more

I came visit family in San Jose and found this store on yelp. Wow I was really impressed. The owner is very friendly and kind. The prices are cheaper than other stores in san Jose. The market sells much of the same stuff as other Middle Eastern markets in the area, but there are a few things that I haven't seen as frequently at other stores. They sell the frozen artichoke hearts from Egypt. Those are my favorite kind to use in various recipes and most other markets in the area either do not stock them or have them for sale long after the expiration date. Their selection of breads is great. I also noticed they have dried Lemon - I've been looking for that with no luck in other stores. In general most items are fresh/unexpired, but I have seen one or two items that looked like it may have expired. That's pretty typical for most little markets like this though - most don't have the funds or staff to re-stock things as regularly as larger stores. This one seems much better than most. I love that this place is just down the street from me. The owner has always been nice/polite to me and I don't speak the language. The times I've been in there, I've never seen anyone that experienced the treatment that Vik describes, but maybe he was having a bad day. read more
