Hidden gem. It's a cheese factory so you'll get the fresh mozzarella all the time. Loved their burrata!

I've been going there for years and years and they have the best Ricotta cheese and fresh Mozzarella.

I've come to this place or tried to 5 times. There are no hours posted, no one picks up the phone, the sign is lit open and no one is there.

They sell the same burrata at Whole Foods in metuchen, but it's much cheaper here.

Recently I made it a point to visit to pick up a sandwich for lunch and I'm really glad I did! Al's is very clean and welcoming. When you walk in the cashier counter is to the left, set at a right angle to that is the deli counter where sandwiches are assembled. The menu is mounted on the wall towards the back. To the right is a seating area. Across from the cashier is a fridge with various pasta dishes ready to heat up and eat along with some baked goods and lots of different kinds of chips to go with your sammich. I wound up ordering the Red & White Russian which includes Roast Beef, Turkey, Swiss, Horseradish, Deli Mustard, Lettuce, Tomato & Onion. You can have it pressed by request but I did not do so. I also ordered a side order of macaroni salad. The Red & White Russian was really good! The size was perfect and the bread was soft and chewy. There was a good amount of meat and cheese and I really liked the mustard and horseradish flavors. The macaroni salad was great. I would definitely get both of these again! I'm glad I made it a point to stop at Al's and I plan to do so again in the future!

Butcher Block is a fantastic deli in the south side of Cranford. For a couple years I would…read moreroutinely grab lunch here, and they consistently delivered great tasting hot sandwiches. Normally I'm not a fan of cole slaw but theirs is fantastic, the best I've had. Even though I moved out of town a couple years ago, Jesse in particular still remembers my go-to meal. He and the others are really friendly, even when things get busy during the lunch rush. Speaking of, the line can get pretty long between 12-1pm but it's worth it. It's a small place with limited seating, but most people grab their food and go. There's a small produce section and good selection of alcohol. Side parking lot always has spots available, even when it gets busy. Some people have pointed out that there's some water damage to a few of the suspended ceiling tiles, but I'm pretty sure they replaced them by now. Regardless, looks can be deceiving and Butcher Block has some great food.

Really should be renamed "Slow Chek."…read more I stopped getting made-to-order food there after several instances of very slow service, but I decided to give them another chance this morning. My expectations were pretty low, obviously. There were a couple of people waiting for their food when I put my order in, so I assumed I'd be there for a while. Then, after all those people left, it turned out that somehow one of them had taken my food and left one of their sandwiches behind. How that happened - whether the counter guy had somehow switched the sandwich orders by mistake, or the other folks were eager to leave, I don't know. To his credit, the counter guy quickly apologized and made my sandwich for me, apologizing again as he handed it to me. So, yeah, an extra half-star for taking one for the team, and the sandwich was good, but still, I'm mystified as to why it takes so long to get a sandwich made here.

It's really clean inside and my turkey sandwich was ready immediately after I paid. The ingredients were incredibly fresh and the turkey was good quality, which made me happy because I looked at pictures online and thought it would be too good to be true . The person who made my sandwich said "you're welcome" when I said thank you and that was all for interaction because the registers are self-CHEKout. I have no complaints ‍All in all it satisfied my late night craving .

And by early, I mean we left our house at 6:30 to plan to get to the beach by 8. Michigan Deli fit the bill. We wanted to pick up a few breakfast sandwiches and regular sandwiches for lunch at the beach. For brekkie, I had a sausage and cheese on a roll. It was fine - I appreciated that they added two sausage patties since I didn't get egg in it. Hubby had the Brearley Bear (two eggs, pastrami, American cheese). I asked to switch to cheddar but they didn't. Both sandwiches were very filling and I was barely even hungry for lunch. We each also got a hashbrown on the side, which was soggy with grease, so avoid this one. For the lunch sammies, I had the Nick (chicken cutlet, fresh mozzarella, bacon, Russian dressing, sub roll, pressed). I wasn't sure how well the sandwich would last since it had dressing but it surprisingly held up pretty well. Overall, it was an okay sandwich. The bread was a little burnt as it had been left in the press for too long, and the chicken tasted like it had been refried because there were a lot of dried out bits. Hubby had the capicola, salami, pepperoni, and provolone sub, which also held up - and he enjoyed it. So it seems that regular cold cut sandwiches are good (though it's kind of hard to mess this up, isn't it) and the hot ones are so-so, or maybe you just need to eat them fresh. Note - their menu online is not updated. Prices are higher in the store than advertised on their site.
