Although it feels relatively small at first, it's well organized and mighty - they sell everything from imported Italian foods to fresh cheeses, meats, pastas, breads to hot prepared meals to traditional Italian baked goods and desserts. I have been disappointed in the foods in the deli case. I am definitely purchasing the wrong items (must take note of what other customers are ordering). I do love their warm dishes - chicken francaise and their stew. Their fresh beef is very good - produce is nice if you need something fast instead of stocking up at Kings. Just not a fan - but will go there on a Saturday so I do not have to cook. Warming up their fresh dishes works every time and is an enjoyable dinner. Oh, the service is the best!!! Staff is incredibly helpful and if you need something in particular no problem calling ahead even if they are busy! I do enjoy going there and will continue stopping in on weekends! read more

Probably the best authentic Italian food store I've been to. I usually try and stop by once in a while for a Italian sandwich. The smell of fresh bread and cheese hit you as soon as you walk in. The store's selection of Italian products were extensive and impressive, with everything from fresh pasta to imported olive oils. Best quality large ravioli . It was so easy to make this Neal. I boiled the ravioli for 10 minutes,but next time I think 8 minutes would be better. I made the meat sauce and it took me half hour to make it . We got 4 meals out of this. We also got the parmesan cheese black from here and loaded it up on the pasta. It was delicious. I have been going to Pastosa's in Cranford for years. I would say I'm there 2 times a month spending close to 175-200 a visit. Last 2 visits will make be my last visits. I bought cold cuts and they not only gave me the ends but the roast beef was bad the next day. I bought parm cheese grated and it was moldy after a week. I hate to write bad reviews but I'm really disappointed. I wish someone would open a place in Clark that really gave a 100% quality. read more

I'm not writing this to complain about the anti-mask cretins breathing on me (The shop was nearly empty--it couldn't have been too difficult to keep a reasonable distance from other people under the circumstances.), nor am I complaining about the passive-aggressive sign at checkout which politely informs people who may be concerned about the aforementioned condition that they can suck it. But an undisclosed (surprise!) extra charge for using a credit card in the 21st century is kind of insulting when you're spending over $150 and not the best way to attract repeat business. I can only assume that this establishment caters primarily to mafia drug dealers because I can't think of anyone who still carries hundreds of dollars in cash on their persons nowadays. Also, if you're not careful, they will sell you expired food, so take note and check dates. Pretty good stock though. So that's 1 star and 3 horns for Pastosa. read more

I was looking for reviews online out of curiosity and feel the need to interject a little here regarding the credit card charges. I also run a small business and our credit card processing fees are OUTRAGEOUS! This is especially true for the rewards cards. When you use that card that promises cash back, or airline tickets (I myself am guilty), that cost is passed on to the businesses. So, when you pay businesses with your credit card, it is truly appreciated. However, that comes at a cost to the business and why should they make less on your sale vs. someone who pays cash? The credit card companies aren't paying for your air miles, that cost is passed on to the businesses. So, if you don't like this policy, maybe you should just buy the business owner an airplane ticket :) read more

Really cute local shop, family run business, that sells specialty Italian items. Everything from hot food to fresh cookies from Brooklyn. All your favorites are here. A little pricey for some of the items but they are hard to find so the cost makes sense. This is truly for if you are looking for Italian ingredients or staples. We picked up a package of the Italian speck, fresh bread that was just bright out from the back, and I couldn't resist grabbing a package of fresh Italian cookies from Brooklyn. All the items were pretty fresh and we enjoyed everything! The speck was exactly as expected and we had been looking all over for it! Was great to finally find a local store that carried it. The bread, we devoured the whole loaf, it's rare you get a piping hot loaf straight out of the oven. We enjoyed it. The cookies were fresh, which was a nice surprise because these are usually sitting out for a while in other stores. Really neat spot in Cranford, will definitely be back to try out their frozen raviolis. They had so many types to choose from we decided to choose next time. read more

I really tried with this place but it's so completely hit or miss. Last week I bought a sandwich and the bread was rock hard. It should have been tossed out. I mean you cut the bread to make the sandwich so you know it's stale. I'm not spending another $18 for a sandwich that I have to toss because it's stale. Just moved here and this place is fantastic. The prices are EXTORTIONATE, to put it mildly. Truly laugh out loud prices. But after you eat the raviolis you'll be much less angry. They've become my favorite raviolis to date. Fresh mozzarella is amazing too. read more

Where do I begin? The bread selection? The pasta choices? The freshly prepared foods? The creative deli sandwiches? The ravioli's? I would describe it as an Italian Deli/Market. We live in town and have been coming here since they've opened. The sandwiches are always large and tasty, the deli meat is fresh, and the selection of Italian bread (I'm a carb guy) is breath taking. For a small market, I seem to spend to much time in there walking around and filling my basket. You can hop off the train and get a fresh hot meal to go or you can get something and prepare it tomorrow. The prices are reasonable and the service is always very good and friendly. There is sufficient parking in the area. I've seen in the paper they've donated a significant amount of food to the local hospitals and first responders to help the fight against COVID-19. I need an Italian deli like this in order for me to enjoy a town. And with Pastosa opening in Cranford, I can finally enjoy Cranford as never before. As expected, the ravioli is great, but the real winner are the prepared foods. Caprese salads and breaded eggplant and all of the things you'd expect under glass at an Italian deli is all there.
