I was looking for a breakfast spot along the route from our house to Sandy Hook Beach that was open early on a Saturday. And by early, I mean we left our house at 6:30 to plan to get to the beach by 8. Michigan Deli fit the bill. We wanted to pick up a few breakfast sandwiches and regular sandwiches for lunch at the beach. For brekkie, I had a sausage and cheese on a roll. It was fine - I appreciated that they added two sausage patties since I didn't get egg in it. Hubby had the Brearley Bear (two eggs, pastrami, American cheese). I asked to switch to cheddar but they didn't. Both sandwiches were very filling and I was barely even hungry for lunch. We each also got a hashbrown on the side, which was soggy with grease, so avoid this one. For the lunch sammies, I had the Nick (chicken cutlet, fresh mozzarella, bacon, Russian dressing, sub roll, pressed). I wasn't sure how well the sandwich would last since it had dressing but it surprisingly held up pretty well. Overall, it was an okay sandwich. The bread was a little burnt as it had been left in the press for too long, and the chicken tasted like it had been refried because there were a lot of dried out bits. Hubby had the capicola, salami, pepperoni, and provolone sub, which also held up - and he enjoyed it. So it seems that regular cold cut sandwiches are good (though it's kind of hard to mess this up, isn't it) and the hot ones are so-so, or maybe you just need to eat them fresh. I had ordered a chicken cutlet sandwich and I was not happy with it. They were so cheap with the chicken cutlet sandwich that all I ate was break and lettuce. This was by far the worst sandwich I had ever eaten. So far I have ordered lunch from this place 2 times and I was so disappointed both time. What a waste of money! read more

We ordered a six foot sub along with chicken fingers, Mac and cheese and potato salad. The food was a MASSIVE hit with people going back for seconds, thirds, and fourths! All of the food was delicious and so fresh. The Mac and cheese was the dark horse champion here. The crunchy top mixed with the cream cheesy core so well! The chicken tenders were crispy and savory and the sub; divine. Roast beef was rare and perfectly seasoned. The bread was the game changer though; airy and crisp. Do not change a thing. The staff is seriously friendly and so easy to get on with. My compliments to the entire staff for a winning combination of amicably and making the party that much better with excellent food and side dishes. Ok... it's review time! Under new management, and oh boy is the menu good. I work near here, very near, lucky me... they've changed everything. So to the food... I always get the burger, so thick, and cooked perfect. I wouldn't lie. Fresh stuff, tomatoes onions, the fries, are cooked crispy and slightly brown, you know that's nearly perfect. Can't stop eating them. Try the crispy shocker sandwich, huge, spicy deliciousness. Thumbs up. Close to the parkway, usually not super busy but they cook fast. This is such a great deli! I came in quickly this afternoon for lunch and my wrap was so good. First, the place is so clean which I truly appreciate especially in times like these. Second, even though it was pretty busy the staff was friendly, attentive, and on point. There were so man options to choose from I was seriously blown away. Hot sandwiches, cold sandwiches, specials, wraps, salads, breakfast sandwiches, breakfast platters, and so much more. I can't wait to come back and try a breakfast sandwich, a hot sandwich, and a salad. Today, I played it safe and got a turkey and cheese wrap. It was so good. I mean, how can you mess up such a simple sandwich? Well, typically places put way too much lettuce that I can't even taste the meat or cheese, or they barely put any meat, cheese, or condiments on it so all I taste is bread, or they put no condiments on it and the sandwich is dry. This place did none of that. The portions of bread : meat : cheese : condiments was perfect. Also, they were so quick! I was in and out in 5 minutes which I appreciate! Highly recommend if you're in the area or not. Great place for whatever you're in the mood for! Super friendly staff that has great rapport with the customers. Gotta downgrade my thoughts and stars on this place. Called in my wrap this am for pickup and when I went to pick it up it was $.50 more for the same exact wrap. I asked why the helping me said that's what it is. I said yesterday I got the same exact thing and it was $5.00 and today it was $5.50. He said whoever helped you clearly didn't know what the price is. I laughed and said it was you. He said well that's the price today. He couldn't care less. $.50 is not a big deal at all but it's the point and his attitude. I will go elsewhere. read more

I've been going to Michigan Deli for about eight years now even when used to be on Michigan Avenue next to the park and when they moved to this location about six years ago it was even nicer my self and my kids liked it even better but not enough to put in a review, today we went back for the first time since the pandemic started for an usual morning breakfast and realized that they were new owners also that the menu and the place was different and let me tell you it was so fresh and delicious and customer service was amazing the place was clean and we are definitely going back. read more

I went here today as they just moved to within walking distance of my job. A guy who works for me told me it was great, I think I need to have him fired (Kidding!). My friend and I walked in and ordered our sandwiches. She got the Godfather and i got the Oscar Special. After about 15 minutes her sandwich came out, but I was still waiting. About 20 minutes waiting and me asking a couple of times, my sandwich finally comes out. Now on the Oscar it says it has hot ham, lettuce, tomato and cheddar cheese. It comes out with goops of Russian Dressing and Mustard (which I dislike). My friend was dying of laughter at this point as she knew I didn't have time to send it back and wait another half hour. I just ate the insides and said forget it. The girl upfront just seemed to be overwhelmed and it was just pure chaos for the people making the food. I'm hoping this was just a one off or the fact they are in a new location, but I will not be back. read more

I found this place about a month ago and since then I have ordered numerous times through Uber eats and again I live about 10-15min away, each time I ordered my sandwiches were always delicious, hot and fresh instructions followed exactly, even the coffee is piping hot and delicious. read more

Michigan Deli has very good food, but the staff is completely unaware of good customer service. Order food there and receive not even a thank you. When you are looking for a local deli that servers up the best breakfast and lunch, it doesn't get any better than this. Kenny and his staff make everyone that walk through the door feel welcome and make sure they leave with a full belly and a smile on their face. Great food at extremely reasonable prices. Some of my favorites include the breakfast burger (hamburger with taylor ham & fried egg), cuban sandwich and the barnyard sandwich. With all fresh ingredients, the specials are always great too. However, when the cashier is rude enough to keep part of my change as a tip without even giving me the option to offer a tip (and I don't see the need for a tip in this case, for there was no exceptional service provided), then it's time for me to choose a different eatery. read more
