My friend and I love açaí bowls. Last week when we got together we stopped by Liquid Nirvana in Glastonbury to get a couple of bowls. We were here once before a few years ago. We went inside. They have large boards with some inspirational words left by guests. They have some games and a few tables for seating. I decided to go with the Just Peachy bowl, this has peach, papaya, dates, banana, strawberry and coconut. My friend got the Tropical Paradise, hers came with açaí, almond milk, banana and blueberry. We waited for around 20 minutes for our bowls to be ready. Mine was a nice yellow color, topped with strawberries, banana and coconut. It looked absolutely delicious. I had my first bite, this tasted like nothing... I went for another spoonful, I couldn't taste the peach at all, or the papaya. All I could taste was a bit of the banana. I took my bowl to the register. There were three high school aged girls. I told them "hi I'm sorry, this isn't good at all. I can't taste the peach." Girl A, asks the other two, "who made it?" One of them raises her hand. "I did" I'm not sure why it matters who made it, the point is it isn't good. All three of them are staring at me. Girl B, says " I'm not sure why you can't taste the peach, we followed the recipe." They didn't do anything for me in regards to the bad tasting bowl. It got pretty awkward when they all stared at me with their arms folded. I sat back down, I was pretty angry. My friend shared her bowl with me, hers was really tasty, rich in blueberry and açaí, just as it should be. I will not be returning to this Liquid Nirvana again. I had about three spoons of my Just Peachy bowl, and my friend had one, just to confirm that it had no taste. The rest was sadly in the trash. UPDATE Since I wrote my review, the owner Rosy, has reached out and offered her sincerest apologies for the way that the situation was handled on my most recent visit to Liquid Nirvana. She said that she could see that some more training of the young people working there was necessary. She refunded my friend's credit card, who purchased our bowls, without me or my friend even asking her to do so. Her efforts to execute me a satisfied customer, were genuine and so much appreciated! I will for sure be revisiting the Glastonbury location and the brand new Farmington location. For the above reasons I am updating my review to 5 stars! read more

Tiny shop with barely any sitting space, but dispensing smoothies, juices, shots, fruit bowls and I also think sandwiches (maybe?). I got a smoothie which was pretty good and fresh, and a shot of ginger. I sat down to wait for my order, and I looked around. There was a big statue of a buddha and in one corner, some books about Hinduism and Buddhism. Unfortunately, that does not constitute Nirvana. Just having the knowledge of Nirvana doesn't mean you have arrived, but instead, your journey has perhaps unfolded... I somewhat wish my smoothie was Liquid Nirvana, it was somewhat in that wavelength, not quite, but I got my liquid fruit and that is what matters, plus the ginger shot. read more

You wait outside and can look at the menu, and someone from inside will come out to take your order (assuming this is their Covid response). I ordered the (employee recommended, per the chalkboard) PB&J açaí bowl with added vanilla protein. The flavors all mixed well together and there was a peanut butter flavor which is why I always get peanut butter on top of my bowl or in the mix of it - so yay! Plenty of options between the açaí bowls, smoothies, & juices... even little health 'shots'. Very quick and friendly staff. I will absolutely be by here again when I'd like another delicious, healthy meal/snack. read more

No guilt pleasures... this joint is one of very few place you cant go for a clean healthy eat out. Unlike most juice bars there are no added sugars to any of their juices/smoothies.... that's what I love about this place. The juices are fresh pressed, but they stop serving it half hour before close, so hurry!! But they can really test your patience I've come here twice and both times it took a good hour before I got my order. I like the nirvana açaí bowl you can get it with peanut butter as well.... both really good. Ive also tried the tropical açaí bowl, same as above but with pineapple and coconut flakes. Yum!! That's all I have to say. But seriously- everything is so fresh and healthy. I love getting green juices from here because they're just the best. I recently tried a ginger turmeric shot, too. My brother always gets the smoothies. I love how you can customize your orders too because sometimes I like adding ginger or other spices if they aren't already in the juice. I also love the name- Liquid Nirvana. It just adds so much to the overall atmosphere! (Even though it's pick up because of COVID, the aesthetic is still totally there!) Love this place! read more

Stopped into liquid Nirvana for a snack before heading to the bookstore in Glastonbury. I was greeted by an onslaught of colorful words and chalk drawings. When I arrived at the counter I was greeted with a warm smile and a helpful attitude, I did not feel rushed into making a decision but once I decided on the Nutty Nirvana, I was taken care of promptly. They have so many types of smoothies, juices & smoothie bowls, and you can create your own juice or smoothie blend too! I love that all the ingredients are listed for customers to see and that there's no sweeteners or other fillers added to their products. During the fall they offer a pumpkin smoothie bowl which is incredible! It has dates, pumpkin, apples, strawberries & cinnamon in it. So good! I spontaneously came here on a weekday morning for some juice rejuvenation. I got the Liquid Garden ($8.50 for large), which was a really lovely blend. It had a great balance between sweetness or greenness. I was really impressed by how much light this space gets. They have some nice, relaxing-looking couches, as well. They boast their having wifi. They obviously want people to stick around for a while, and they really make the environment welcoming. As someone who doesn't like yogurt, though, I was sad there weren't more "real food" options. Suuuper fresh and yummy. I got the green machine bowl and it was very tasty. Love the assortment of granolas! The wait time was pretty long, but very understandable considering the time they put into making them. The cut the bananas fresh and take the time to arrange the fruit in an Instagram-ready way before handing it off. Disclaimer, I am not a huge smoothie bowl/acai bowl/juice person so it takes a really exceptional spot to wow me. I stopped in here - it is a pretty unassuming spot in a little strip mall right in downtown Glastonbury. It is nice that they have their own parking lot unlike many of the shops along the strip there. Coming in around 1:30pm, the place was pretty quiet. I ordered the Nirvana Acai bowl. As mentioned, I usually wouldn't go for this type of food but something about cold and fruit sounded good to me that day. The bowl looked about what I would have expected, perhaps a little on the small side. The whole fruit used as toppings and granola was all good, tasty, and well ripened. The smoothie base was the thing I found to be fine but nothing of great note. It was perfectly adequate but I guess I usually look for a yougurt/dairy base in a smoothie and this was a juice and fruit base from what I noticed in the preparation. The huge plus of this spot was the price. I usually go in for a smoothie bowl bracing for a $15 (ish) price tag and here it was just about $7. Overall, nothing wrong with the food here just not really my thing. read more

OMG!! Why o' why did take me so long to come here?? This little gem of an establishment serves fresh juices, smoothies & acai bowls. I love fresh pressed juices and have had them when Liquid Nirvana was at the Glastonbury Apple Festival. Normally my hubby and I make our own smoothies with our Vitamix so never thought I would go to there storefront & Man I have been missing out!! OMG Acai Bowl Heaven is found here!! I am not a fan of the Acai berries on their own but once blended with other fruits and put into a bowl topped with fresh fruit your choice of granola it's transformed into pure deliciousness. I went with the Tropical Bowl it was so refreshing since the Acai blend has a frosty smoothie texture and then it's topped with fresh bananas, Pineapple, shredded Coconut and a swirl of honey. I chose the Cashew Cookie Granola and I'd do it again and again. I stopped in for the first time because I woke up super sick. Now mind you I'm not a super health nut so I didn't really know what to order. The girl at the register was super helpful. I told her how I was feeling and she almost diagnosed me and and suggested a specific drink and shot to try. She handed me this bright orange drink and I admit it was super intimidating because I always hear that juices are pretty gross if you're not used to them yet. This one was delicious. Save your money! I'm done giving this place "a try". The bowls are pretty but they lack flavor and the texture is icy NOT smooth and creamy. I keep coming back thinking I just need to try something different but there's no improvement. I've visited a half dozen times and only one smoothie tasted fairly decent and it waS over $10! Ridiculous. The atmosphere is also lacking. It is always cold inside (even in January) and it looks like a messy family room with too many bulletin boards and papers (letters, pictures, cards) taped all over. Super cute juice and smoothie place! They also have a few soups and sandwiches! They have a great selection of smoothies and also offer juice cleanses! The service is super quick and they are always friendly! It's also very clean! I was really excited to try their acai bowls. The homemade granola is delicious and there are tons of varieties. However, I don't love the actual acai part, it's not as dark as most bowls and tastes really "icy." Leading me to believe it is more ice and banana than acai! I finally made it to this place after hearing about it months ago. The store is in a plaza set back a little far from the road, but my GPS brought me right there. They had brightly colored Adirondack chairs & tables out front that I wish I'd had time to relax in after getting my juice. On a Monday around 2pm, I was the only customer in the place. The inside was very comfy, clean & cool. In the back they had couches, a TV, and adult coloring pages (mandalas/designs) which I thought was pretty awesome. Up front they had tables & chairs. The menu is divided into smoothies, juices, acai bowls, shots. They have a good selection of all, or u can create your own concoction. There's a hand written note at the register that says "Please be kind & don't take pictures of our menu board" - which I thought was weird & couldn't figure out why they didn't want people taking pics but whatever. I ordered a "Heart Healthy" juice: beets, apple, sweet potato, ginger, carrot (a small was $7). The combo tasted just okay. I've had better combos by throwing my leftover fruits & veggies in my juicer at the end of the week. It was also room temp by the time it was handed to me. I drank a few sips & then waited until I got home to add ice. On taste of my juice alone, I would've given this place a 2 but I feel like maybe I just picked an unpopular juice. An extra star was added for customer service; the owner allowed me to use an old 10% off offer, as well as for the bright, fun, comfortable décor. Ive been a huge fan of robeks so i decided to give this place a try. I had the acai bowl and a 4oz shot of lemon ginger and it came out to roughly$12. The reason why this place gets a 2star is because the acai bowl was very watery like as if they diluted it in water. It also had big chunks of ice in it which looked like a banana. In comparison to Robeks which tastes far more creamier and flavorful this place had a more watery taste. Also, at robeks you get two full 4oz shots for $4.75(about) but here its $4 for one shot which I find it to be very expensive. Probably wont be returning read more

My first job after graduating college and moving to NYC was at a little juice bar sponsored by a Hare Krishna group. I remember opening the store each morning to a slow, steady stream of customers, the pungent smell freshly of pulverized produce, and, when the boss wasn't around, some Grateful Dead tunes swimming through the speakers (when the boss was around, we had to play a recording of Hare Krishna chants). When I went into Liquid Nirvana for the first time, memories of those carefree juicing days flooded to the forefront of my mind. I think it was primarily the juices' aroma, as our sense of sent does have the greatest memory. So Liquid Nirvana was off to a good start for me. I ordered a Lemon-Ginger shot. Downing one of them gives your body an instant shock and vitality. I was suffering a sore throat that morning and knew the ginger shot would do the trick. It doesn't really help in the long run, but it did make me feel better for a little while. I also ordered a PB&J Acai bowl with maple granola and strawberries which was DELICIOUS. This is a cool little juice bar where you can also get your acai bowl fix. It is nestled in an out-of-the way little plaza which also houses an amazing Indian restaurant and a popular local Chinese restaurant. The space provided to Liquid Nirvana's customers is a railroad style building, but spacious enough to feel comfortable, with a sunny, cheery vibe. There are several different places to sit, including tables, a front bar-style high-top area, and a back lounge. Seems like a perfect set up for people who want to just relax, or settle in for a bit to get some work done. I noticed that Liquid Nirvana had special posted for both a soup and salad. I was disappointed to learn the one soup offered was not available that day, as the board was up, front and center on the counter touting it as available. I ordered the spinach salad, which came with spinach, cukes, carrots, almonds, apples, cranberries, and tomatoes. (I ordered it sans cukes.) I was given a generous portion of spinach, with a smattering of cranberries, almonds, and apples. The carrots and tomatoes had been forgotten, and when I requested tomatoes, the girl behind the counter did chop some up and throw it on for me. I was surprised Nirvana uses big slicing tomatoes for their salads, as I pretty much ended up with thin, slimy tomato pieces limply laying on top, instead of a bright handful of cherry or grape tomatoes. I was also surprised that Nirvana does't make their own dressing, but rather offers several off-the-shelf brands from the grocery store. At the very least I was hoping they'd carry locally made dressings, if they weren't willing to make their own. So alas, my experience with their actual food was less than desirable. The salad was fine, but when you have inexperienced teens doing all of the heavy culinary lifting, you can only expect so much. I also ordered the PBJ acai bowl, which was fun and interesting. The texture was perfect, and the portion was generous. I did not however taste any of the peanut butter in it. I was also very disappointed that the strawberries they put on top had that biting, sour tang of having been sitting around sliced too long, and almost being bad. They tainted an otherwise perfect acai bowl. I was thrilled with how many types of regular and gluten free granola are offered for the bowls though, giving people the opportunity to make a different exciting bowl each time they visit. I would like to try another acai bowl from Liquid Nirvana, but next time I will likely skip the offered soup and salad of the day, and ask to taste the strawberries before they are put atop my bowl. read more

I loved this place so much, but the two most recent times I visited Liquid Nirvana in Glastonbury I was extremely dissatisfied with the way the bowl tasted. I'm not sure if they changed the recipe, but it was very thick, with no banana slices on top and did not taste as good as it used to.
