Stopped in at the Playa Bowls located in Glastonbury, it was such a cute store. The staff were so kind and helpful, especially when ordering. After some time looking through the menu, I decided to go with the Nutella Bowl (Playa Acai topped with blueberry flax granola, strawberry, banana, coconut flakes, and Nutella). I was lucky and able to try Playa Bowls through Yelp's event and I'm so glad I was since I don't know if I would have tried this fabulous place on my own. I ordered the mango bowl with strawberries, bananas and Nutella mixed with oats. The flavor profile was amazing and unique. I love playa bowls. Mostly when we come I always get a bowl but they do have other options like oatmeal or smoothies. I do miss that they no longer have the chia pudding to add to your bowls. But that won't stop me from coming. Playa's bowls are nice and refreshing on a hot day. The bowls are good sized so I usually get one and share it with my two little girls. Last weekend, I righted the ship with a family takeout order. The inside of the Glastonbury Playa Bowls is like a tropical party. A feast for the senses with cool art, pineapples and lots of color. I was legit happy to wait for them to make my Pura Vida Bowl, my son's Power Bowl and my wife's Nutella Bowl. My Pura Vida Bowl was soft frozen açaí purée topped with blueberries, strawberries, granola and honey. It looked great. The fruit tasted fresh, the granola provided great texture and the acai hit the spot. My body felt great afterwards. This is a reminder -- that acai bowls need to be in regular rotation. If you're into smoothie bowls, this is the spot to hit up. I've been here a few times now and can't get over the Coco Craze Coconut Bowl. The coconut base pairs perfectly with the banana, mango, and pineapple, while the coconut flakes and granola with honey completes it. Good music and vibes and plenty of places to get a good Instagram shot. The staff was friendly and will allow you to sample the base product. I sampled the pitaya base. The only thing I remember about it was the texture. A little bit grainy. I went for the Tropical Açaí bowl. It has banana, granola, pineapple, coconut flakes and honey. The pineapple was flavorless however the rest of the bowl was great. It was a little expensive in my opinion and it only comes in one size. I did ask for extra honey halfway through my bowl and the staff was happy to give me more whenever I asked. Overall, great place good staff and fun atmosphere. The only thing that bothered me was the trash can. They have tin cans with a lid. Cute for the atmosphere but due to Covid I was hesitant to open the lid to dispose of trash. read more

I went into tonight after work to try their summer special the Mango Glow Bowl, the ingredients listed said mango base, vital proteins, collagen, peptides topped with blueberry flax granola, pineapple, kiwi and coconut flakes, goji berries and honey. I asked to replace the goji berries with blueberries. What I had received is a mango base , with little chunks of granola ( maybe like a few pieces), kiwi, blueberries, slight coconut flakes. To say im disappointed is hard to admit. I love Playabowls. I live in Fl so my playa bowls location knows me pretty well and anytime a new bowl drops they let me try for free because of my foodblog but they always go the extra mile. Although I still ate the bowl because Im not going let it go to waste I was not happy with how I felt this order was rushed and didn't come as advertised. Always a very dependable and tasty dish with top notch ingredients. Two thumbs way up. Too small items: One, the staff is always fast and efficient, but hardly engaging in any way. I get it. They're not owners, but the vibe just doesn't match the chill decor. Two, the public bathroom has been out of service for a year. One just gets the sense that this isn't really the case, but that they are just being compliant with the legal requirement of having a bathroom, but prefer to not have to deal with people actually using it. I have been to many playa bowls locations and have been a loyal customer since they were a food truck down the jersey shore. Love the business. We ordered two bowls and it took over 30 minutes to receive the bowls. What we got was two bowls of liquid, they were completely melted. The workers took so long to assemble these bowls it seemed like they were training and didn't know what goes on each bowl. There was barely any granola, the mint in my boyfriend's bowl was half brown. We ended up going home and re-freezing them just so we could enjoy them. After all that I realized they didn't even give me the correct order. I ordered a nutella bowl, subbed for pitaya base with almond butter on top. Wrong bowl so wrong fruits on top and no almond butter when I paid extra to add it. Will be avoiding this location at all costs. Only reason for the 2nd star is I love all the other locations. Awful customer service. I was blatantly ignored by about 7 women (only two or three of whom looked to be doing anything.) When I finally did say something I was met with smirks and "maybe we didn't know you placed your order and maybe we thought this or that." Mind you I was the only person standing at the counter and it was pretty empty in there at the time. One tall blond lady asked me if I was being helped. I replied no and she said "Oh" and walked away. Not only did she not help me she didn't tell anyone else that I needed help (which is what I was waiting for at least. ) She literally just said "Oh" and walked away. Can't make this stuff up. I almost couldn't believe how rude. I was standing right in front of them for at least 8 minutes trying to be patient thinking there's no way I'm really being ignored like this. I noticed that the young lady who prepared the order I was there to pick up who also looked right at me, set the order to the side and went on to another order without once asking if I was there for that order or if I needed any help) also smirking the entire time I was speaking with the "manager" (not sure if she was really the manager.)When I saw the managers smirk and attitude while addressing the matter that said a lot.
