I've seen the layout change slightly over the years but it's still on the meh side as far as color and shelving. Majority of spirits are kept behind the counter with craft beer and beverages in the fridges. The have those high selling snack items like takis on clips and throughout the store as well as candy and salty goodness. The owner is very laid-back and the entire family/ Wine N Liquor Basket crew is friendly. Popped in here recently to grab a bottle of something nice for my roommate and again the other day for my other other roommates birthday... Lol... They're open until 2am everyday and share a lot with In-N-Out off Van Nuys Blvd and Moorpark St which can get crowded on weekends. More than a bit on the pricey side compared to other beverage retailers, however almost always usually good for a quick time crunch or at least reliable kind service regardless of stock.

I usually stop in once in a while for a six pack of craft beer (mainly golden road, angel city and anything that peaks my interest or that gets rotated into the cooler) They have an okay selection of snacks, good selection of beer (including some cool crafts as mentioned), entry level wine and a huge variety of spirits (surprisingly, though they're marked up). Parking is easy as the lot wraps around the building and is shared with the laundromat and restaurant .

Think they get traffic mostly from people on foot as this is a small neighborhood spot and in a tiny mini plaza with a few other businesses in a wide yet small parking lot. I mostly came in for coconut water and an odd snack or two... suprisingly they had the random thing I was craving and nostalgic for... a cup/pint-ish of cereal... the elementary school kind... you know the ones! They didn't have captain crunch but I'm grateful they carry any of them... frosty flakes was the next best thing! I bought a loteria scratcher to get the full liquor store experience minus the adult beverages this trip... and came close twice to a nice lump sum... one day lol. Having picked out two different cans from the beer cave, the clerk at the front counter rang them up and said "12". I paid, then headed into the L.A. night.... At a red light just down the road, I looked at the receipt: $12.93. Then it hit me that these didn't ring up correctly, and saying just "12" felt deceptive. Thankfully, I had asked for a receipt. One beer rang up as $5.39, and the other $6.39. Back at Circus Liquor a minute later, I pointed out to the same clerk that he had overcharged me... one can absolutely had a $4.99 sticker on it (and I, incorrectly, thought they both did). Pointing out the pricing discrepancy, he pointed at the can that didn't have a sticker and said "That one is $5.99." The receipt showed neither beer rang up at that price. Luckily, an older gentleman also working behind the counter stepped in at that moment and asked how we could resolve this. He offered for me to swap out the $4.99 beer for one more expensive to make up for the difference. That was fair enough for me. Yet, with the lack of prices, I looked for a fair trade and felt like my choices were limited. There are plenty of other options around and plenty that are completely transparent with their prices. Thus, I have no plans to stop by Circus Liquor again. If you do visit, I strongly recommend you ask for a receipt and check it! A second star is given only because the older clerk did a good job of diffusing the situation. The other guy was no help.

If you're looking to impress with some amazing and unique craft beers this is your spot. They also sell other alcohols but it's impossible to not explore all the beer. The staff was incredibly kind and were consistently adding and replenishing the offerings. Glad to have found the valley beer spot!

I've been in so much just for super lotto and various scratcher as well as the occasional night cap or day snack. They have an easy but well utilized layout with small isles of items and plenty of room to navigate about. Metro Liquors off Magnolia and Van Nuys Blvd is a family run mum and pop biz with a lot of wonderful people who run it. They run out of Topo Chico often, my absolute seltzer obsession, but they have plenty of good craft brew options not to mention a solid selection of wine and spirits. Being a neighborhood market of sorts they do carry those small personal hygienic items, accessories, canned food, condiments, paper goods and even some pet related items as there are lots of dog owners and lovers in the area. Technically on the corner of Tilden and Magnolia off a small residential street just behind the Acura of Sherman Oaks dealership... You can find a fair amount of easy parking close by or if your in the area... It's a very easy one day entrance/exit for access. There's usually a good movie or TV show on the screen they have on the floor which I sometime stop and enjoy with whoever is on duty for a beat. Definitely worth checking out even for just some of the best customer service in LA, hands down.
