Customer service needs improvement. I'm not sure if I'll try again or just be a sore thumb and hold a grudge

I almost left because I was confused where to order and couldn't get an employee to acknowledge me. That is why there are 4 stars instead of 5. I asked some other people that were waiting since they looked like locals and I'm glad I did because I was waiting in the wrong area to order. I ordered a Caprese sandwich and it was DELICIOUS. It came with a side salad that was also very good. As a bakery they have a TON of options but I was too full to even think of more food but I think I will go back when I find myself in the area.

I have to update my review because I keep coming back for the chicken panini, however I recently tried the bread pudding and omg it is so delicious. They have so many pastries to try here but if you like bread pudding you have got to try the Lilit cafe bread pudding. I get a sweet cheesecake hint at the end of my bite, it's so amazing. Yummmmmmmmmm.

I have been wanting to try this place for quite a while now and finally came today with my son for a late lunch. I guess my experience initially started over the phone when I spoke with Suzie to confirm their hours. She also mentioned to me that the bakery was open until 8pm today but the kitchen closes at 5. That was helpful information that wasn't listed online. We got there around 4pm and easily found parking in their lot behind the building. There are plenty of spaces and also street/residential parking. Upon entering, there was an immediate vibe shift from the outside world. It was almost dead silent inside, with no music playing and no regular restaurant chatter/noises, either. The place is fairly big/spacious but had an extremely cold atmosphere. Their Christmas tree was still up along with some other decorations, but the lights of the tree weren't even turned on! I feel like the ambience here could've been a lot more festive and welcoming with the lights and some music. The place itself was pretty clean and the bathroom (one gender-neutral unit) was spotless!! Oh, there is also a patio if you choose to sit outside. We were greeted by Alma behind the counter and she was genuinely such a sweet, kind, and helpful person. She knew her job very well and was able to answer any of our questions about their menu. To share, we ordered their famous Ajarski (plain), along with a large vegetarian pizza. My son got himself the Grilled Chicken and Garlic Wrap, however he subbed the tortilla for sliced sourdough and got salad instead of fries. I got the Grilled Chicken Panini that came with Mozzarella Cheese and Pesto, also with salad. The Ajarski and Pizza are baked fresh per order in the pizza oven, so they require a few extra minutes. I believe it took about 15 minutes total. The sandwiches came out sooner than that. Honestly, the food here was just...mediocre. It certainly wasn't awful but it just wasn't amazing by any means. It was kind of BLAND and everything just felt like it was missing something. Both of the grilled chicken sandwiches were pretty dry and the chicken was overcooked. The side salads were decent. The pizza felt noticeably underdone, like it was heated just enough to melt the cheese, but not fully baked. The dough was flimsy and not sturdy nor crispy. For me, the Ajarski was the highlight! Delicious cheese filling baked into a soft, tender dough with two runny eggs baked into it in the center. When you cut into it, the yolks start oozing out and you can use the bread to soak it all up. It was DELICIOUS! I would say the portion sizes were appropriate for everything, however the prices are a bit steep! Our total for these 4 items came out to $71! For dessert, my son and I decided on 7 different pastries to sample. I also wanted to have a latte, but Alma told me they don't serve any decaf coffee whatsoever, so I just stuck with my water. I don't know what this is about - I've been noticing more and more places that are eliminating decaf coffee from their menus. Why? Not all of us do well with caffeine, so it is important to keep it on the menu in order to please everyone. As far as the actual pastries, we got the Cream Puff (incorrectly labeled as Chocolate Eclair), 2 round Peach pastries (filled with buttercream), and one slice each of the following: Tiramisu, Mikado, Honey Cake, and Bird's Milk. They have an EXTENSIVE pastry case full of traditional pastries that we all know and love, and some lesser-known desserts from Armenia, Russia, etc...I grew up on a lot of these sweet treats so it was nice to revisit them after many years. We tried a bite or two of each one and they were all yummy but also a bit overpriced in OUR opinion!! 7 pastries came out to $31. Altogether, already a $102 bill for two people and some leftovers for tomorrow. Hey, we did also get a free Armenian calendar out of it! I'd also like to thank Katherine who was helpful and pleasant, just like Alma. We accidentally misplaced the receipt for the food and she was able to reprint it for me. I really wanted to give this place 5 stars, but it was missing that WOW factor for me!! It was slightly underwhelming but I might give it another try sometime in the future.

I honestly don't even know how this place can exist and be SO delicious and also SO affordable?! We are from the Sacramento area and each of the pastries we had this morning would have been TRIPLE the price of what we paid at Lilit! Our whole family had multiple pastries and coffee for my husband and I for $25?! Everything is beautiful and we will most likely come back tomorrow because there's such a variety of items that we want to try!

    "Tres Leches" cake
    Katherine M.

I've heard so many good things about lilit so I decided it was about time to try it. My review is solely based on their cake. It was recently my dad's birthday and we wanted to try a new bakery. I stopped by to pick up and chose the tres leches cake. It looked so yummy topped with fresh berries on top. The cake came out to roughly $46. Now if you know anything about tres leches you know it's moist and sweet. Unfortunately this wasn't either! The cake was patchy, some layers were moist others were so DRY! We were very disappointed when we realized it wasn't actually a tres leches cake. It was a let down considering the price, next time I'll stick to my regular bakery for cake. They do have other pastries and a full menu, I may have not liked the cake but there might be yummy items on their menu.

I'm completely disgusted. Lilit Bakery obviously does not wash the lettuce before making salads. There were worms crawling in my food. I want my money back. I won't eat here again!

    Ajarski
    Ana G.

Amazing Ajarski finger licking good. You do have to wait a little bit for the Ajarski it's made to order but so worth it. Plenty of good sweets to choose from. Cakes, danishes, cheesecake, carrot cake, bread pudding, baklava, to savory all in one pot spot. Haven't tried the rest of their foods but it look yummy. Place was clean.

Ask the Community - Lilit Bakery

    Are you open on thanksgiving?

Yes, we are open until 5.

I was wondering how much it costs for a custom cake for about 15-20 people?

How much is the Napoleon cake?

    2.95 for the slice

Hi! I love coming to you all, as often as I can. Question though, do you have electrical outlets, for someone wanting to come in, eat, and then get some work done on a laptop?

Hello Katie! Yes we do have outlets all along the wall at our Victory location. You would be able to enjoy your food and pastries along with doing work and have infinite charge!

    Are there vegan options?

I have never seen any and I've been here at least 10-12 times.

How big are the pizzas? How many inches?

I always get the personal pizza which is 12". I can eat an entire pizza when I'm starving, but I can be quite happy with eating half a pizza. It depends on how many toppings I smother it with. I'm 6' & is 200lbs

This bakery truly deserves 5 stars if they get their priorities right. I have been to this bakery a…read morefew times in the past and have done a review on them once. Customer service can be hit or miss. Yesterday, it was something in between. I normally don't update reviews unless some things change from good to bad and vice versa. After leaving the restaurant, I had a sweet tooth. Decided to stop by this bakery which is located inside Gelson's Market and buy few pastries for the house. Mostly for their mini Eclairs that are filled with delicious, Vanilla custard and coated with chocolate cream. Well, once again they were out! Was greeted by Esther, one of their managers. Somewhat friendly and helpful. Was trying hard to impress. I told her I need 8 pieces of individual pastries. Right away she got the box ready and stocked all my favorite pastries in them. Got 2 slices of Parisian pastries,($9.00), 4 slices of their Vanilla Custard ($15.80), (which is one of my favorites) super light in taste and texture. Last, but not least, got 2 of their regular Eclairs ($9:00). Total came out to be $33.60. Every time I get some lame excuse from their employees such as come back tomorrow, we only have them in the mornings, or the best one, we only have them Friday to Sunday. Well, yesterday was Friday & no mini Eclairs. Time of my arrival was 8:40AM--7/17/26. Esther told me they get them in after 11AM. Not true. I went back just to check and still no mini Eclairs. So Ester, the manager was lying. They also have cakes, cookies, their Alligator tart that has a lot of nuts. Variety of cold and hot drinks: Coffee, Latte, Espresso and more. Plenty of parking spaces. The bakery was very clean and had maybe 2 other employees working there. Expensive, but very yummy. They also sell bread. Freshly baked. Can customize any cake according to your preference and liking. For any occasion.. Go check them out and see which one is your favorite?? Make sure you don't ask for mini Eclairs!!:-)LOL.

The mini pineapple upside down cake caught my eye & for only $4.95, why not? The caramelized pineapple had the perfect amount of sweetness, which was highlighted by the maraschino cherry. The downside, dare I write "upside downside," was that the cake was overcooked & burnt on the bottom. This made it dry. Unfortunately, the receipt states that all sales are final which is sad because no one reasonably wants or expects cake to be burnt! *The company website on the bottom of the receipt is pointless; I included a photo of what appears after typing ViktorBenes.com into a browser.

I contacted the baker about a Blippi and Meekah-themed 6-inch cake. The quote was $145 for the cake plus $25 for an edible image, for a $170 total before the amount later identified as tax. Free pickup was offered. I was dealing with several important things at the time and did not respond to the initial quote immediately, but I prepared my confirmation on September 12, the date given to decide and contacted the baker on September 13 to confirm the order. She accepted the order and provided payment instructions. I do not use Zelle or Venmo, but I have Cash App and was prepared to either pay cash in full in person or the deposit that way. Before sending the deposit, I asked one simple question: why was the total $186.63, including $16.63 in tax, when the quoted cake and edible image totaled $170? I was simply asking for clarification before paying. I asked because my understanding of California Department of Tax and Fee Administration guidance is that a whole cake sold to go is generally not subject to sales tax. I wanted to understand the basis for the additional charge before making my payment. I was not refusing to pay; I was asking for clarification. Instead of answering the question, the baker abruptly canceled my order. I attempted to call to discuss it directly, but was sent to her voicemail mailbox which was full and I could not leave a message. Afterward, she explained that she had become uneasy about the order and said she was canceling for the best. ‍ She also characterized my statement that I would accurately review my experience on Yelp as a threat of a bad review, which is not something I would do. I would never threaten anyone. I was explaining that I would give an honest account of my actual customer experience which is what Yelp is all about. What disappointed me most was that the order had been accepted and confirmed, yet asking a question about a charge resulted in the order being canceled rather than the charge being explained. I am a disabled grandmother and was trying to arrange a special birthday cake for my granddaughter's party. I would have preferred a simple answer to my question and a completed order. Based on my experience, I would not order from this business again. but instead I will go to back ordering from Nothin Bundt or Susies Cakes and just order the toppers online, that way I know what I am getting with no hidden fees.
