The stylists are talented. The place is clean. But the stylists add on treatments without asking. Then when you get your bill it's eye gouging! I only had one stylist that would explain what the treatments were and what they would do. But also let me know they were add ons. So we would do some of them every other visit so it wasn't sooo expensive. But when she left. The other stylists just added them on. So I stopped going. Fast forward 6 years and my teenager wants to go. The first time the stylist asked what we wanted and talked about it, the second time just added on services that were not discussed. The first time I went here I liked my haircut a lot so I went back to the same person. I asked her for color and a lot of chunky highlights all over. I also got another haircut. I didn't like the outcome because it was way too dark on the top and not what I asked for. When I told the stylist that I wanted more highlights on the top she said "we can tweak it next time". I went up to the counter to pay the bill. I figured it would be a lot but was shocked when it was $300. I looked online and the prices didn't reflect that. My hair isn't even that long or thick. I did call and went back the next day to have more highlights put in on the top. She didn't charge me. The highlights were very uneven in color and thickness. It definitely was not a $300 job. I didn't receive any compliments on my hair. I was considerate enough to call and cancel my future appointment. When the manager called me to find out why I didn't reschedule, I explained exactly why and I emailed her pictures. She was surprised that the hair stylist didn't warn me ahead of time on the price. She said "why did you wait 4 weeks to say something". I replied, "I called to cancel my appointment way ahead of time. You are the one that called me and asked why I didn't reschedule. I was just not going to be a returning client". She never got back to me after promising she would. I know we are all trying to deal with the coronavirus and make money but you need to warn people that they're going to pay $300 for their hair and not say "we will tweak it next time". read more

Last week was my first time at this salon and I was not disappointed. I have passed this place a hundred times and finally ventured in for a wax. Megan was my aesthetician and proved to be a good one at that. She proved herself to be the consummate professional, even providing a little education on things to watch for when you get a wax (specifically about precautions and bacteria). As nurse, I appreciated the knowledge sharing! Pricing was reasonable, but maybe that's because I'm used to Gold Coast prices. Jordan gave me the BEST no chip manicure on sept 12th(almost 1 month ago!) I posted pic of what my nails look like today. I didn't bother taking pic day of... because they always look good then. But usually mine start peeling off less than 2 weeks in. She took that extra step to make sure not to apply too much polish at the cuticle area (keeping it flatter), thats where most technicians make their mistake, and it start pulling up. I highly recommend Lindsey! She's fantastic, and if you read the other reviews I'm not the only person who thinks so. I will admit that it's not the least expensive place to get your hair done, but it's also not the most expensive and Lindsey does an outstanding job. I even recommended her to my mother a while back because she is so picky about her hair and has a hard time styling it, and now that's the only person she goes to for cuts and color. If you're going to Lisa Thomas to see Lindsey, you will be walking out with a smile because you will love your hair. :) On a side note, tips at this salon cannot be added to credit cards, must be in cash. Here is the rundown of my hair cut experience. 1) the wash- 0 stars. I'm so used to getting a fabulous wash from my old saloon in St. Louis and it did not compare at all. 2) the cut- she did about half the cut and then said she would finish the rest of the cut once she dried my hair and could see better. No prob girl, i've had a dry cut done before and loved it. However, she dried my hair then styled it (with curls) then attempted to cut it. I told her not to worry about it, but she assured it me it would be okay and that she could just brush out the curls. .... huh? 3) the conversation- i really prefer when my hair stylist doesn't talk to me and i absolutely cannot handle when they push products on me. It might sound crazy. But i like when I can have quiet time during my hair cut and nail appointments. 4) the style. i asked her to blow out my hair rather than leave it curly and wet. She did this... very poorly. The front looked okay and when she showed me the mirror to check out the back I couldn't tell but trusted it looked fine. I went home and checked it out and was super disappointed. It looked terrible and I had an event to go to right after. =/ Don't think I will be returning. SORRY! read more

I go here from time to time, I always get grace, she is fantastic and friendly, highly recommend her if you do decide to go to Lisa Thomas. I always get super frustrated at the end when I'm paying and can't leave a tip on the card so I always end up walking across the street to the bank (which is not my bank) and getting charged a fee for using their ATM. I went here again and saw Erin, she was very nice and good at what she does but I asked for blonde hair and i spent 180 bucks to basically have the same hair as when I went in, just a smidge lighter. I am super disappointed that I spent that much on something I didn't want. Again.. super nice girl and my hair looks good it's just not what I asked for. Will not be returning. read more

I got my hair done here for my wedding -- as did my bridesmaids. This review is solely for my "try-out" visit and then the actual service day of the wedding. My mother-in-law recommended this place -- she comes here -- and, well, the woman has good taste. It's not the sort of salon I would go on a regular basis (never mind that we live 40 minutes away) because I'm sort of frugal, but for my wedding hair, it was excellent. Our wedding was in October (of 2007) and that June I came to Lisa Thomas to do a trial run and meet the stylist. Jordan was very friendly and professional and asked a lot of questions. We settled on an idea for a hair-do and I was very pleased with the end result. At that point I made wedding day appointments for myself and my two bridesmaids. My bridesmaids were skeptical of a couple things: that these stylist would be any good and that they would get us done in time. Keep in mind that the salon opens at 8 on Saturdays and the wedding was scheduled for 10:30, at a chapel a few miles away. Well, the stylists did a fantastic job. We were given coffee to wake up while the ladies got ready and then ushered to our chairs. Jordan did a beautiful job on my hair, and my bridesmaids were both very pleased with theirs. Not only that, but we got out in plenty of time to get some pictures taken before the ceremony AND for me to sit around in the church basement looking nervous. She was very courteous and understanding to what I was looking for in a highlight/color. She continued to monitor the progress of my highlights and toned it after. I'm a bridesmaid in a wedding and had my hair trial done here (I never have my hair done in "special occasion" styles but I do go monthly to my own salon for color/highlights/trim). I was not impressed at all. They had to reschedule my appointment twice, and when I arrived I wasn't properly greeted in a welcoming way. I also was not offered anything to drink, or asked to take a seat. So I kind of awkwardly stood at the counter, wondering what the heck to do ~unsure of myself and uncomfortable~ when the rude receptionist said "you can sit down and she'll be with you when she can." Umm, o-kay. At that time I asked if I could have a glass of water. I was told they didn't have water but was directed to a pay-for-yourself pop machine that had bottles of water. There were coffee cups, so I poured myself a cup of coffee and asked if I could just have some tap water in a coffee cuo. They reluctantly agreed. This is NOT a new, nice salon. I wasn't impressed with the facility/decor at all. And yet the receptionist and owner/manager acted like it was a five-star salon! I've been to Mario Triccoci on 94th Avenue in Orland Park (also not my regular salon) and it's much nicer than this place. My last complaint is that they do not allow you to "go over" on your credit or debit card in order to put gratuity on the card. You have to come with a cash tip ~ even though you don't know (when do you!) the exact amount of what your services will be! This is insane ~ even my little nail salon allows me to put the tip on my card! I gave them 2 stars, however, because Sherri, the stylist who did my hair trial, did a very good job. She listened to what I wanted and it looked great. Other than having to go to Lisa Thomas for this wedding that I'm in, I will never go again. It's a snobby and miserable place. I went to Lisa Thomas last weekend to have my hair and makeup done for my wedding. Everything was really great. The ladies at the front desk were friendly, and they had very good precautions in place for the current Covid situation. Julia did my hair in a beautiful up-do, and it was exactly as I requested. It was a low up-do that looked very pretty, and it stayed in the entire day and night! She made sure I was happy with it, and she also showed my sister how to insert my veil. Bianca did my makeup, and she was also wonderful. She explained everything she was going to do before starting to apply the makeup and asked for my input on colors and how I wanted the makeup to look. She used the airbrush tools, which I highly recommend. The makeup stayed on all day and looked wonderful. It looked natural but gave me a special look for my big day. Again, they had great precautions in place for ensuring the makeup application was sanitary. I was very satisfied overall and will be back for haircuts! read more

Lisa Thomas in Orland is so amazing. My husband and I decided on a Sunday brunch wedding and soon came to realize that salons do not open early on Sundays. I contacted Lisa Thomas, and they made a special arrangement for my mom and I (hubby and I had no wedding party, only us! Woo!) They got us in at 8am when they didn't open until 10am usually. Grace and Cassie did our hair and makeup, and we LOVED them both. They were both so nice, so happy to be there for us, and both made us feel so beautiful! We got complimented all day on our makeup, and I don't think I've ever seen my moms hair look so good! My hubby LOVED my hair - it's a week later and he's still talking about it! I went to this salon for several years, never had problems when I had weeknight appointments and even recommended this salon to several friends. I had to change to weekend appointments and the service has went down hill fast. Apparently loyal customers are treated like crap when one-time only customers come in (weddings, etc). I had an appointment on a Saturday morning in May, stylist was 30 minutes late and the appointment was interrupted several times by other customers. My next appointment in July was another Saturday morning appointment, yet again the stylist was 30 minutes late but no big parties this time. I contacted a manager and when I told her the issue of having to wait so long, she told me "well, what do you want me to do about it?". That is a horrible attitude to give loyal customers, I drive an hour to get to my appointment and I still make it on time. If there is an issue, contact the customer. For my most recent appointment it was cancelled yet no one called to tell me. I called a week early to confirm the time, was told that someone left a voice mail telling me the appointment was cancelled but they did not tell me which number was called. No voice mails were left at either of my phone numbers. I was given multiple stories about the cancellation, if you are going to lie, get the stories straight. The manager couldn't even get her story straight, with the late appointments she told me it had just been super hectic with the bridal party and communion but this last time she put all the blame on the stylist for being late to work. I needed to find a salon closer to home but really liked the stylist, too bad the management is so bad. read more

I visited Lisa Thomas for the first time about 2 months ago. I want to say I am a 40 year old mom with 2 kids. I never get to do anything nice for myself. I was so excited to walk in to Lisa Thomas Salon. I have wanted to get my hair done for years, but never had the extra money. I walked in with no appointment, someone did accept to do my hair. Now I want to be honest my hair before I walked in the door is a medium brown, to a caramel color. I do understand dark hair is hard to color. I want to say My day to do something nice, for myself didn't turn out to be what I wanted. I thought when I walked out of the salon, I would look amazing, and beautiful, but I do not feel I looked any better when I walked out, as to when I walked in. So I was open and honest with my stylist. I told my stylist I was unhappy with the color of my existing hair color. I told the lady I wanted a full balayage, with blond hair. I told the lady the more blond the better. I told her the lightest blond I could have the better. I really wanted a ash blond, if not lighter. I told the lady I liked the ash, and cool ash, and even the white vanilla. I told the stylist I had around $200.00 to work with. The amount of money is normal for the service , I understand, but expensive, when you do not get what you paid for. I showed the stylist pictures of what I liked, and what I really wanted. I understand she doesn't have a magic wand and you cant always give a person what is in a picture. The stylist told me it blond could be done, and it would cost around $150.00 I told her the more blond the better, the lighter the better, and it was really important to not have the ugly caramel hair anymore. Now if the stylist could not do what I asked for, she should have told me. So when she was putting the dye in my hair she said it would turn out like a nice light vanilla color, which would be perfect. Now I told the stylist I had copper in my hair, and dint want my hair to turn orange. I told her I would pay for a toner to get what I wanted. The toner on my head was so dark, it looked like she was dying my hair brown and not blond. I trusted it was going to look great so I sat for the 20 minutes waiting to be rinsed. Now the stylist did not dry my hair she told me the cost would be an addition charge. I told her it looked dark and did see the blond I wanted. she used the hair dryer and dried a small pcs of hair to show a pcs of damp hair that looked a little bit lighter than normal. When I went up to the reception desk to pay, I was told $151.00. I gave the $155.00 and stood around waiting for my change. I told the girl you owe me $4.00 back, which she told me she was trying to figure out what work was done. The lady never gave me my change back. I gave the stylist a $45.00 dollar tip, because it is the right thing to do, and you should always tip 20%. I was very unhappy with my experience. I walked out of the salon very unhappy. It was a cold snowy day and I left with damp hair. Later in the night when I dried my hair, nothing special. The color is still a caramel to a brownish color. a couple weeks later, it is still not light, and its just as bad as it was when I walked in the door. I do not feel pretty, I do not think my stylist did a good job, I do not feel like anything was done. Going to Lisa Thomas Salon was not a great experience, and is very much over priced. They say the day you leave the salon is the day you look your best....in this case I walked in with bad hair and I still have bad hair........very upset I did not get something nice for myself, sad the stylist waisted my money, sad I don't have a fresh clean hair do........ Ugh! That's what comes to mind when I think of this salon. I have been to this salon twice both for wedding, both times my make up and hair have looked like a hot mess! I have has my hair and make up done countless times and even modeled both in college. These people made my hair and face look not natural. I obviously had no choice as I was a. Bridesmaid, but I'm shocked that both brides picked this place. Gross! Side note: I also had the opportunity to meet one of the owners at a gathering, I don't remember his name, it may have been Thomas or that's their last name. He was the most pompous person and his arrogance was unreal. He thought his salon was amazing, which I'm sure as a business owner you do, but he was over the top. Coincidentally asked me if I had been there and when I told him I had and my review, he became enraged and quite demeaning. Don't ask if you don't want to know! This complaint is targeted to the Front Desk Management - POOR customer service skills, I suppose I have high standards because I am familiar with the industry and how it should be done - but I am sorry I gave this place a chance. Stylist was nice, but they should be taught how to properly communicate their prices to the customers so there is not a nasty surprise at the end of the service. Will never go here again, and definitely do not recommend this place!! I think I will stick to the city or places where they actually want business and treat customers right. Our 50th wedding anniversary was on a Sunday. I was thrilled to find a shop that was open. I had never been there before. I had an appointment with Annie. She did my hair and makeup. I walked in as a frumpy, wrinkly 72 year old. Annie made me gorgeous! I loved my hair! She added a few false eyelashes and did airbrush makeup. I walked out 110% satisfied & beautiful! Been going to Maggie for years. I have never walked out unhappy! They promote new products without pressure which is nice. I see Lisa from time to time walking around which is cool. She cares about her shops. Beautiful, updated salon. It is a perfect balance of professionalism along with light and fun to make the experience enjoyable. I recently took off a ton of length and Maggie was extremely careful to explain the look and how it would work for me and how she would be conservative with the cut. I was offered at the end of her cut, the opportunity to go shorter if I so desired. My point...this is how she works. It is all about me. Very rare to find in other salons. Great people, very nice and friendly and it seems they have all the services a salon can offer. Unfortunately, I wasn't so happy with the result. I just came here for a haircut. They took a little over an hour and what I asked was simple and asked for them to straighten my hair since I have curly hair. They used a flat iron machine. I usually take about 30min straightening my hair and I use a round hair brush and air blow dryer and that always give me a natural straight looking hair. Not frizzy straight which was the result even after they put what ever product they recommended me to buy of course to fix it. Anyway I was in the area I had been here before a few years back and I remember liking them. Now, I probably will not come back. Since I consider them just like any other regular place. The place looked really nice and everyone else's hair looked great. My personal experience was that I said I didn't want to look like a poodle and I look exactly like a poodle. I wanted loose curl or wave perm. I'm too embarrassed to put my picture up. I style out the perm every time I wash it. The point was to not have to waste time styling. What a waste of money. The manager who was so quick to recommend someone won't answer my complaint. I was just trying to make my life easier. Later: the manager actually did call back but I couldn't access my voicemail at the time. She said the girl who did my hair can show me how to style it. I already know how to style it. I was getting my hair done so I wouldn't have to keep spending time on it. Now I spend more time. Good grief. 12/1/2017: I didn't have time to style out the perm this morning so I wore it to work for the 1st time and I'm already on my 4th compliment: I look younger, more energetic, etc. Also, my brutally honest father in law saw it earlier this week and said how nice my hair looked, so I'm going to shut up and rock the perm!
