I'd gone to the salon previously for Henna and was very satisfied which is why I returned, coupled with the reviews. When I arrived I told the woman working what I wanted. She gave me a book to find a design while she finished a client. No one else was working and there were no other customers. Once she began, 2-3 customers came in. Instead of asking them to have a seat and wait their turn because she was the only one working, she starts to rush on my design and kept apologizing to the other customers. That was weird because no matter what she was doing, they'd still have to wait their turn. She rushed to finish then gave me no directions. I had to ask several times how to take care of it, how long it takes to dry etc. but it seemed as though she was only concerned with the customers that came AFTER me. The design I chose was $15 total and I added one finger and paid $5 for that only. I paid with a fifty and she gave me $20 back. Once I brought it to her attention, she was visibly annoyed she had to stop working on the customer to give me my $10. She threw it on the counter and walked away. No apology. I'm beyond disappointed. Would never have expected to have this experience. I'd really been looking forward to getting it. Needless to say, my design got smudged in places and it looks now like I've had it for 5 days, not 24 hours. I can't help but wonder if the color of my skin is the reason I wasn't met with the same energy as the other customers that all looked like her?????? read more

Got my brows done here today for the first time. I was here 3 years ago with my daughter. I got her ears pierced when she was like 6 months old. They were great with her. I would never let the teenagers in Clair's touch my kid's ears. Today I was here for brows though. It's sooooo hard to find a place that I like for my eyebrows. Every time I got to the mall to get them threaded I hate. I haven't gotten my brows done in like 6 months. Ive been doing myself. But they were so thick I couldn't take it. I remembered this place so I decided to give them a try. Sima (spelling?) did my brows. I loved. At first I said only a clean up, but that's because normally when I say that people always go thinner. She actually did a clean up like I asked. Shocking! I had to ask her to go a tiny bit thinner. She did. My brows turned out amazing! My daughter got her brows done too. We both love! read more

I went here yesterday at Orland Square Mall and got the basic manicure and pedicure and also got my eyebrows threaded. The whole process took about 2 hours which I was ok with because they took their time with me. My nails and toes are phenomenal! The only con for me is that it was two workers so many women were told to come back. If I was a prospective customer I would call and make an appointment beforehand. Let me say,Urmi is a sweet lady, great customer service, although she needs a little training on how to manage her business. I've met her husband Bob he seemed nice at first until I witnessed him yelling at 2 of his employees in his language and one of the poor ladies began to cry! That was very unprofessional. The kiosk always smells like Indian spice and onions. These girls need alot more training, instead of the owner humilating them in public he should consider some professional lessons. Not to mention, they try to force customers into having unnessasary services done, I am just a little too uncomfortable to be going back to this place. Very low class business :) read more

I've been going to Urmi Salon for years, ever since Urmi opened up in Orland Park. I've watched her business grow and expand to another location and her services remain still top-notch despite her business growing. Urmi herself is really sweet and down to earth. As for the services, I've gotten leg and arm waxes here which are amazing--sometimes there are 2 girls available and they both will work on you at the same time which makes the process so fast. Even if it's one girl, the waxes are still really quick and fairly painless...and they always give you nice smelling oil afterwards to rub on. The rooms are always clean and hygienic with new tables and furniture and nice accented touches in them, a far cry from the typical Indian salons on Devon. I've also had facials here too which are nice...you can get express facials for 30 mins or full facials for 60 mins and you can choose from a bunch of different types, all using herbal products for India. I always choose the fruit ones. Today the girl zapped a zit that I found saying that it should be dried out within a day or so. Of course I've gotten my eyebrows done here by various girls and they've always turned out really nice, though if I could have a choice I'd always ask for Urmi. read more

Wow!! I am beyond impressed by Urmi Salon!! I started going there just about two three months ago after having a horrible experience elsewhere. Urmi is absolutely amazing. My eyebrows unfortunately got very messed up by some lady about a year ago. When I went to Urmi, she was able to fix them. So many women recommended that I go to her so I took their advice; now I strongly recommend Urmi too. I refuse to go anywhere else. Like I said, she's amazing!! Very good at eyebrow threading. I went here for the first time today. She did a terrible job on my eyebrows and my eyebrows don't really look like I had them done. She didn't clean up my face after threading like others usually do. I had little eyebrow hairs all over my forehead & temples. When she waxed my lip she did not get everything either. There was hair left on the corners. Then she did not wipe off the wax like they usually do at other salons. She did a horrible job and it was very quick. read more

Have gone here so many times and no compliments but my last visit I decided to get eyelash extensions for the very first time. I wear glasses so I told them I wanted the lashes just a bit shorter to still be able to wear my glasses but they put the longest lashes on me! So once they were done and I put my glasses on and I couldn't blink I asked if they could trim the lashes, so one girl did while talking and laughing with the other girl. Once she was done, I put my glasses back on and the lashes were cut crooked. There was glue all over my eye lid, my lashes were crooked, just not the way I imagined. Not going back! read more

Make sure you bring cash to tip, since there is no tipping on credit cards, unfortunately. This is my first and last visit to Urmi Salon. I was greeted promptly by both technician's. Julie was my Tech. I explained everything in detail regarding threading my eyebrows. I didn't want thin eyebrows. Technician Julie nodded and voiced apparent understanding. My eyebrows are thin and the left side is even thinner. I came to Urmi to have eyebrow threading, eyebrow tint, and lip wax.The other technician rang up my credit card. Of course I declined the remaining services. Julie didn't apologize. I recently moved from Aurora however I will drive over 50 miles to obtain great service. If she didn't understand then ask. They were rude by talking in their native language. The worst place i have ever been too. It is dirty and the people there are rude. They managed to repeatedly cut me, leaving me with several scabs on my face. They gave me a permanent scar that I am now treating with a dermatologist. They blamed me for "having a zit" when I complained (I didn't). They wouldn't give me my money back.
