I kept my drink orders simple this visit, but Thieves has a whole menu full of creative cocktails. What you do when you enter is just sit down, and someone will come by and take your order. But if you're visiting for coffee (because Thieves is also a coffee bar), you can order at the counter. I don't recall if they offer food. This is mostly a place to get drinks. And it's a lovely place to get drinks. Thieves is located in the heart of Broad Ripple, which means that parking is atrocious. I parked near The Vogue and walked over, but maybe you can find street parking, if you're lucky.

You can also cater in your own food, so it's not like you have to use their contacts, but it does have to be catered, you can't bring in homemade food. You can also bring in a DJ. This particular party had a cash bar but you can make arrangements for it to be an open bar if you would like. The most exciting thing is you only have to have I think a $400 liquor minimum. Well if you have a decent crowd, I'm sure that's pretty easy. I also wasn't aware that they actually have a parking lot for your guests as well.

Now, it is near the Post Office on Carrollton and has been rechristened as a real restaurant and bar with really good food and all kinds of trouble in good whiskeys, Bourbons, Scotches and Irish whiskys! I was there for St. Patty's day and the drinks were cold the corn beef & cabbage authentic and filling, and the camaraderie as cheerful and rambunctious as you would expect! I highly recommend!

Hooka was $31 and you get to choose a flavor, we had tropical punch and it was good. We got fries to go with our drinks and they were decent. The drink I got was the casamigos lemonade in peach flavor and it was good. I don't feel like the drink was very strong though and it was $14. My husband got the strawberry casamigos lemonade and he said it was good too. They had a DJ in the back and a DJ in the front, they played different music. 2 restrooms are located near the entrance, which can be a hassle when it's busy. We noticed after we got home that they charged our card twice for our order, so I'd make sure to check that out.

We did end up finding an intimate spot by a garbage bin near the back where we could sort of see the stage and chit-chat with the drunkards who were also back there for easy access to the bar. And we were definitely happier there than we would have been near the stage, where everyone had to sacrifice elbow room and the option of a bathroom trip in favor of a better view. We would have been a little happier in the premium seating (which was sold out before I was able to book), but, lesson learned. I'd just rather be at a place where capacity is more limited but the setup is geared toward ensuring the audience has a little more comfort.

I also attended the annual bourbon tasting at Turntable. In addition to concerts and shows, they can host some special events as well. The space is not big so don't expect to cramp too many people in there. The Vogue is an iconic venue in Indy but Turntable has its merits also. The vibe is definitely different and I enjoyed seeing a more chill show in there. They have multiple events every week so keep an eye out on their calendar.

While he was in the humidor, our waitress informed him they were out of the Booker's and suggested Blanton's as a similar-priced alternative, which he agreed to. Later, he tried to order another bourbon in a similar price range based on the menu, but that was also unavailable, and E.H. Taylor was suggested instead. In both cases, pricing for the substitutions was not discussed, and neither substitute was listed on the menu we were given (via QR code). Service was minimal after ordering. Our waters were not refilled, and it took multiple attempts to get the waitress's attention despite it not being very busy. We eventually had to ask the hostess for help getting the check. The total for three bourbon pours came to $141 before tip. The receipt showed $30 for Eagle Rare (listed at $22 on the menu), $35 for Blanton's, and $65 for E.H. Taylor Barrel Proof. The main concern was the lack of clear pricing or menu visibility for the substitutions at the time they were recommended. A friend at the table was told, after ordering a second bourbon on the rocks, that ice cubes are $2, which was not listed on the menu. Needing a lighter for the cigars is not a problem in this area, which is nice because usually downstairs they charge. It's a different vibe upstairs, so it was nice to experience it for the first time. They have a whole section to buy cigars which is neat. I don't know much about cigars, but I like browsing and learning. I'm not a big cigar person, but I'll sample it. I like the sweet ones. Restrooms are downstairs, and I really admire the women's restroom here, it's beautifully designed. Parking to get here is street or paid lot parking. We paid $20 to park at a lot across the street. Good music, good drinks, and good vibes--I enjoyed the night.
