As a veteran, my experience with Little Angels was extremely stressful and disappointing. The organization is very disorganized, and the process created more stress rather than support. The billing system is inconsistent and unpredictable. Invoices are not sent on a regular monthly schedule--they seem to be sent whenever the company remembers, which makes it difficult to manage financially. Communication is also a major issue. Trainers missed scheduled appointments, and overall communication was not sufficient. Instead of using the phone to resolve issues efficiently, the owner floods clients with emails, which makes simple matters unnecessarily complicated. As someone with disabilities, I expected a professional and structured system. Unfortunately, the disorganization and constant back-and-forth amplified my stress rather than helping me. Overall, the experience felt argumentative and overly complicated when it should have been supportive and straightforward. read more

I received a service dog from LASD this past year, the very beginning of October 2013 for a rare brain disease. I had waited only about a year, much shorter wait time than most service dog organizations, and the entire time Katie (the director) was there to help along the way with everything. She explained what my dog would be trained to do, perfectly fitting my needs. Balance and PTSD. She even let me visit as often as I wanted! I told her that I preferred a sensitive dog, that when I got sick I wanted a dog that would be right there for me to cuddle with and would be okay with just laying there by my side. I also left not to subtle hints that I LOVED really light Labs. Although she said she'd try to pair me with the color dog I liked, personality would be the most important factor. Well, they paired me with my dream dog! A white Lab named Lily. LASD is amazing at reading people and matching the dogs up just right. She's the perfect size for me, and she is extremely sensitive to how I feel. The minute I feel sick, she paws at my leg to alert me. At one point in a store, I had her in a down stay. She broke the stay and kept pawing at me, at first I was pretty upset.. but when I realized she was alerting, as she was trained to do, I sat down and she was definitely right, I got sick. But she did her Paws Up command with me for 30 minutes until I felt better and then braced me to stand up! I was so proud of her, as soon as I was feeling better she immediately went back and laid down as she was supposed to. During the Handler Training, Chris (the head trainer) and the other trainers were an amazing help, answering all my questions and making sure we worked together as a team and that I understood what all her little gestures meant so we could communicate with each other better. A few months later and we're going strong! She loves to sleep by me no matter where I go: if I'm cooking she's laying right by my side, if I'm in the shower she's on the rug right in front of it making sure I'm okay, she's actually by my side right now as I type this just sleeping. My latest help was when I was in urgent care this month. I let her on the bed to cuddle and she gave this look as if she understood exactly how I felt, but that she was there. Even though my other dog was trying to tug on her ears and play with her, she remained right by my side, it was amazing.. I cannot explain what a secure feeling I get knowing she's with me, and that there's someone there to help me. And whenever I have any questions, I just shoot them an email and they respond right away, no matter the question (sometimes I ask really dumb questions that are easily remedied..) they always take the time to give a detailed response and encourage me to always keep in contact with any concerns or even exciting news of what we did that week! I wouldn't be where I am today with my Lilypad, and I definitely wouldn't have her if it wasn't for Little Angels, I'm so thankful for the work that they do. I'm so blessed to have made such great friends with them and that they gave me some of my independence back. I couldn't be more grateful to them. read more

I sent my Vizsla and Dalmatian to a boarding school to help get them under control. My Vizsla Bella is true to her breed and a little devil! She is stubborn and has her own game plan. My Dalmatian Teddy is better but also a little stubborn. Katie at Little Angels Dog Training got them into gear for me. They now heel together, sit, stay and wait on command. I know I have to continue to work with them to make sure they remember all of their training but now they have a foundation that I would never have been able to do on my own. Little Angels offers different training options but since I was going on vacation I sent both pups to the boarding school. Katie keeps your pup as long as she needs to get them well trained then she comes to your home for follow ups as well. I purchased a deal on living social for 2 60 minute classes for $60. 1. Scheduling an appointment was easy. They also sent an email reminder. 2. The staff was accommodating and friendly when I was running 15 minutes behind our scheduled appointment 3. Chris was our trainer: He was very friendly and consultative. He uncovered our objectives for the appointment as well as discovered our disciplining habits. 4. Our appointment lasted longer than expected (about 2.5 hours), BUT after talking us through the training, doing the training demonstration, and allowing us to practice the training techniques...along with bringing in other dogs to advance our training... We now have a dog that barks less, walks to heel, and most importantly a happy dog and happy owners. Chris also followed up with more training tips and techniques after our appointment. He allowed us to feel comfortable enough to reach out to him post training class. PLUS, we still have another training session if needed. Although the location is a bit far...it's a minor detail that was well worth the end results. Hands down the BEST living social deal I've purchased. Thank you Chris and Little Angels Service Dogs. My 10 month old Labrador/Pit mix, Gracie, and I have been attending Little Angel's Service Dogs since May of this year. In the past 6 months, Gracie has learned to alert my partner if I am about to have a seizure, she has learned to ignore distractions while we are out in public and is amazing at all of her basic commands. We are still learning many new techniques/commands every time we attend training and it has been such a blessing! Katie and Chris have been a MAJOR support to not just myself and Gracie, but also to my surrogate family. It is truly a blessing to know that I can call them if I need over the phone support and visit their facility for one on one training. I highly recommend attending the group clinics in Coronado not just for your dog, but also for your own mental health. When you first realize that you have a disability it is a shock to the system that you have a hard time processing. With Katie, Chris, and all the wonderful trainers and other persons who partake in the trainings, you slowly become a wonderful family who support each other mentally, physically, emotionally and even spiritually. I honestly would not be able to imagine my life without my wonderful service dog, and without Katie and her amazing team. My husband found Little Angels Service Dogs on the web. Due to his PTSD he has been looking for Non-Profit organizations that would help him at no cost to evaluate his puppy & possibly train him to be a Service Dog. When my husband got in contact with Little Angels Service Dogs they scheduled him for an orientation with the dog. So we went to the orientation and Chris the Trainer spoke with my husband about Baxter (our dog) some of the qualifications they had in order for the dog to be qualified for example the dog being 12 months of age. When we had scheduled the orientation it was never asked how old the puppy was nor was the 12 month qualification in any of their information. So why is it that they scheduled a 5-Month old puppy for an orientation knowing that the puppy had to be at least 12-months of age. When the orientation was done and we'd said our thank you's we were asked to pay $45 dollars on our way out. We were never told the orientation would be $45 dollars nor did Chris inform us before walking us over to the orientation room. We were never given paperwork to sign that we were agreeing to pay for an orientation or anything that suggested we would pay for such a service or advice/tips. When I informed Chris that we had never been informed that we would have to pay he said that it hadn't been the first time people thought the orientation was free. That people have gone in thinking the orientation was free, because they're a non-profit organization, and that it was common for people to think the orientation was free. When he expressed that it had been a common occurrence I couldn't help but ask why they hadn't taken that into account and begun to inform people that the orientation would cost them $45 dollars, and he said that we wasn't sure who we spoke with at the time of making the appointment, but that he would take it into consideration to speak with his employees. If this had been a common occurrence that he was aware of,why didn't they correct it many mistakes ago? Yet I was one more dog owner paying for their mistake & failure to inform the dog owner that the orientation was not free and that we would have to pay for it. I would like for Little Angels Service Dogs to inform future dog owner's that their orientation is not free. To maybe inform them over the phone that the orientation is a $45 dollar fee before scheduling, and maybe bind the dog owner with an agreement that he/she will be the $45 after the orientation is done before the orientation begins so that both trainer and owner are in agreement of such a fee. Since my incident has not been the first time such a misunderstanding has happened, and they have failed to correct it. I believe that once they inform the Dog Owner of their fee's before scheduling just like any other business would do they will not have this common occurrence happen again repeatedly. Now there are some pro's hence the 2 star rating...My husband felt like he got some good tips from Chris on how to train his dog before we brought him in for another orientation. A few pros/cons to know about this place: Pros: -When I picked my dog up from her assessment appt, Chris? the dog trainer was really helpful and gave me tips on training my dog. -Easy to locate. -Webcam to watch your dog play/lay around. -My dog was safe when I picked her up. :) Cons: -The girl at the front desk that checked our dog in was not very professional. She was very flakey. She acted like it was strange that I brought my dog's own food to feed her while she stayed overnight. When picking her up from boarding her, I thought they would have made her smell less like urine with their "Fluff and Puff" that they advertise-but when I asked her if she did it, she said, "no, I can if you really want me to...it's just a quick brushing." -Not a lot of interaction with dogs-they advertise that they traing them while they are there, but from watching the webcam, I didn't see much of that going on. -Dogs pee and poop on the floor, so they really stink when you pick them up from boarding. (The facility does clean up after the dogs, but they still stink!) -No fresh air/sunlight/grass. The dogs are not crated but can roam around a fenced area in a storage unit/warehouse. This is overall not a bad place-but I feel like they advertise a lot of which they don't do. Plus, when I go on a longer trip, I don't like the idea my dog wouldn't see the light of day for the whole time I'd be gone. read more

I found Little Angels Service Dogs while researching Autism Service Dogs for my son. We had decided that having a service dog for him would give him more independence. We didn't even have a dog when I called or set up our first appointment. They helped me navigate all of our options. With their help I decided to purchase a Female Golden Retriever to train as my sons service dog. I was concerned in the first few weeks with our new puppy at home as she was nipping, barking and chewing. We dropped her off for 4 weeks of training, my kids loved having access to the video webcams while she was there. We picked her up last week and are very impressed. Even though our neighbors dog bark all the time, she is non reactive to the barking and no longer barks. She is very well trained in basic commands along with the commands that we need for our children. When we take her out in public we get a lot of compliments on how well she is trained especially with her only being 5 months old. Even after we got her home the staff has been very helpful. Since we are moving they have offered to help us screen trainers in our new area, and have been available via email and phone for any of our questions or concerns. Especially with learning the laws regarding service dogs and service dogs in training. We are very impressed with Little Angels Service Dogs and would highly recommend them to anyone seeking training for their dog. read more

We adopted Delilah from the Santee center. She failed the service program due to hip dysphasia. I emailed Little Angels when I saw her on their website and they quickly responded back to let me know she had just been adopted. The next day they promptly emailed me again to let me know her adoption fell through and to contact them if we were still interested. I was very cautious about getting a female dog due to past experiences but couldn't resist her sweet face. They were very friendly and informative on the phone and we set up an appointment to bring out 7 year old 120 lb Mastiff/Boxer in to meet her. At our appointment they were all so sweet and clearly loved and cared about her deeply. I thought they did a fantastic job introducing her to us and our dog. I fell in love with her immediately and she very quickly bonded to me. We adopted her a week later which was quick and easy. It was clear that it pained them to let her go but also that they were happy she would have a family of her own. Now she is 1. Still a puppy and 2. Not fully trained. They quit her training once they realized she wouldn't be able to be a service dog. She does still know some things like watch me and paws up (for PTSD). She is extremely intelligent and anytime I'm stressed out she will put her paws over me and lean up against me as she learned to calm me down. She still has puppy tendencies and is clumsy which they warned us about prior but to us (not needing a service dog) it just adds to her charm. I've told my fiancé at least 100 times already that she's the best 75$ I've spent in my entire life. She is the sweetest and most lovable dog I've ever met. We even just recently had an incident where our other dog pushed through a board in the backyard and got out- she didn't leave with him but instead barked at the back door until I came out to realize he was gone. This really gave me some insight to the training she received at Little Angels. Overall, I couldn't have asked for a better dog and she is truly family to us now. I can't thank them enough for allowing us to adopt Delilah, she brings me sheer joy everyday. The extra money spent to help her ease the pain of her hip problems is very well worth it and they made it clear at the beginning her adoption price was so low so that we could afford to invest money in her. That alone showed me the care they have for their animals. Thanks Little Angels for brining Delilah into my family's life! read more

We found Little Angels Service Dogs when searching for help for our 5 year old son who was battling seizures. Our son is a child with autism and has a blood sugar disease called Hyperinsulinism (HI) that is like the opposite of diabetes. Finding a service dog company that would work with younger children was difficult. But from the first time talking with Katie, the director, we knew this was a good fit. Little Angels is amazing. From mapping out the plan for fundraising, the details of actually having and caring for a service dog, the reality of having a dog for such a young child, the extended training, as well as the handler training was all very well explained and laid out. Katie sent updated ledgers frequently, letting us know exactly where we were in the fundraising process (also helpful so that we could keep up with personal thank you notes to donors). She was completely honest and forthcoming about the dogs she had in mind for our family, why or why not they would be a good fit, and why they were not quite ready yet. We met Romeo, our son's service dog, FINALLY in February 2013. We planned "a trip of a lifetime" to go to handler training, learn everything we needed to know to join Romeo into our family. The two week training was top notch with a detailed step by step format on each task we learned and how we bonded with Romeo...and more importantly, how our son bonded with Romeo. Romeo has been part of our family for almost 7 months. It is a MIRACLE that our son's LAST seizure was in March. Maybe instead of seizure detection, Romeo is a seizure deterrent. Of course maybe its finally the right combination of meds, or growing out of a scary, terrible seizure disorder....we will probably never know. But what we do know is Romeo has provided a physical support and assistance, with balance and stability to our son. Romeo has helped with our son's neurological disability by preventing and interrupting impulsive and destructive behaviors. He has provided a social bridge for our son to talk to other people and gain confidence in doing so. Usually wherever we go, someone comments or asks about Romeo. Romeo will provide deep pressure therapy to calm our son when he needs it. Little Angels has given us such an amazing gift. Thorough, detailed, calculated training is what Little Angels can boast. I find myself promoting the book, "Training Your Own Psychiatric Service Dog" to people I see with untrained or service dog hopefuls. To "non-dog-people," like us, the book and handler training gave our family a huge understanding and appreciation of what Little Angels does for others. If I could give 10 stars, I would. read more

This was a horrible experience for my dog. Luckily my instinct took over and I didn't leave her for more than 20 minutes. She was petrified. The dogs pee over the furniture, no outdoor access, no interaction with staff. If you are not allowed a tour, than there is something up. Stand outside and listen and you will hear dogs barking and being yelled at. The front person was very unprofessional, was surprised when my dog barked when left and placed incorrect collar that was twice smaller than her head. They place your dog in an area where dogs are allowed to see them, lunge at them and bark through the fence. My dog was shaking. Good places have dog greeters, private rooms for them to get to know the dog in and don't admit to being or being short staff. No staff than don't take more dogs in. I am sure the business licensing has ratios of dogs per person. Will be checking into that. Do not take your dog there who can't speak for him or herself. The cameras weren't working - owners children messed with them for days. Did anyone else notice????????????? Why have children running around anyway - who will own up to that liability when they get bit, or knocked over and break a femur (which I have seen big dogs do to little children). read more

We recently brought home a service dog trained by the whole team at Little Angels and not only is this the best trained dog we've ever met, they spent untold hours training us to handle her properly. It is clear that these dogs are trained with love. We even got a "baby book" from our foster mom! During the Long Beach Clinic the Little Angel's rep told my 15 year old daughter our dog was a "Menace to Society" because my dog barked at a dog that was off leash and because he growled. . During the restaruant training the Little Angels Rep took control over my dog while at the restaurant and stepped on his leash and held him so close to the ground he was unable to move. Which ofcourse caused him to whine. I ALWAYS step on my dog's leash but I also leave him with enough leash to be able to lift his head off the ground and readjust his position. However, this was not the case when my dog was under the little Angel's Reps control. I don't think it was appropriate to constrain a dog to that extent. This easily could have been the catalyst to his behavior. I received an email stating we are not allowed to participate in the Clinic anymore BUT we can do private lessons at $45. When I responded to Katie about the unprofessionalism of the Little A's Rep she claims the Long Beach Clinic is merely a meet-up and not a clinic though on the website it is listed as a clinic and there is a $20 Clinic charge cleary posted above the two locations. if your dog is not a service dog the fee in inforced. The Rep at Long Beach has never recieved training and has not participated in the training program advertised on their website. I am VERY dissapointed in the lack of knowledge and professionalism displayed at the Long Beach Clinic. Now remember if you question Katie she will insist the people running the Long Beach Clinic are NOT Little Service Dog Trainers. They are students with no profesional training. ....so please tell me why are Students that have only been in the program 10 months running the Long Beach Clinic? I give them ZERO Stars read more

We had to board our 2 yr old Siberian Husky Gunnar due to going out of town for a couple of days. Little Angles was very accommodating with the three day notice we gave them. The staff is very friendly and helpful. I spent about a week researching other boarding facilities and this was by far one of the best and the closest to where we live in Santee. The two days we boarded him was a good test for his next upcoming two week visit in December. Also, the first day of boarding was free, they offer one free training session per day, offer a 5% military discount, and a free bath before pick-up. You just can't beat that deal! After we brought him home, he fell asleep because he was completely worn out probably due to playing in the free play environment the whole time. We will definitely be boarding here again! read more

My husband and I have boarded our dog at Little Angels several times, and have been very happy with the quality of care and attention our dog receives. The staff at Little Angels is professional and friendly, and they seem to really enjoy dogs. Also, as most (if not all) of them are dog trainers, they understand dog behavior which makes us feel more comfortable leaving our dog in their care. Each time we drop our dog off, they check to see what behaviors we have been training and ask what they can work on with her. It is great to know that while we are on vacation, our dog is not only having fun playing with other dogs, but also is continuing her training. Other benefits of choosing Little Angels for boarding include their reasonable prices and video feed you can watch on your smart phone which makes it easy to check in on the pup while we are away. I have been to a couple different doggie day care/boarding facilities in the area, and Little Angels is the best by far! read more
