This is a fantastic Italian restaurant! Loved the ambiance, comfy chairs and impeccable service. Our server was so personable, warm and helpful. The Food: the menu is small but mighty! Shrimp Oreganata App and Caesar salad were delicious. Seafood Risotto was one of the best I've ever tasted. Packed with flavor and topped with a lot of fresh seafood. The chicken piccata was also delectable. Our kids ate every bite of their fresh pastas and the Tiramisu was delightful. Thanks for making my wife's birthday a memorable evening! I liked it so much, I found myself back there. When you find a place that you enjoy, and that your kid enjoys, that's a real sign of greatness. It has flavour that is delicious, it has a location that is comfortable. It has menu options that include everyone. I can eat the lamb ragu (which could have been more lamby, but I know that that's just a me thing, and it was actually exactly how most people would want it to be). The tiramisu was alright. It wasn't the best (more coffee flavour, please) but far from the worst. And their drinks were great. Their coffee was great. All the more reason that I wish the tiramisu had more of the coffee flavour. But, all in all, a really good experience that I was glad to have had. read more

Our waitress was inattentive and made many excuses for how busy she was. She forgot many of our drinks and even the initial drinks took an hour to come. From the time we got there to food it took almost 2 hours. They didn't fill our water and we sat for a long time with nothing to drink. The manager and other wait staff were good to assist and apologize for our waitress. Unfortunately our waitress was not too concerned and she continued to complain of how busy she was. Even questioned us if we had actually tried to make bruschetta for more than 6 people and complained about us using google to look at the menu and ranted on about using it instead of their website to check the menu. We had a great experience here!! We were a little worried at first because it was empty when we got there at 7:30, but it did fill up after awhile. The drinks we got were strong but still good. We thought the food was great, just as good as any nice Italian restaurant. The pasta was perfectly Al dente and everything was very tasty. We were surprised it didn't get more packed but I heard it recently reopened so maybe the word hadn't gotten out yet. It's also right across from the Sheraton so it's convenient if you are staying there. Definitely give this place a shot! read more

Lovely Italian restaurant in downtown Toronto near the Hilton and Sheraton hotels. We come here for dinner when we are staying at either of these places and don't feel like walking too far. Service is friendly, and the atmosphere is elegant with white tablecloths. I like the focaccia bread that comes to the table. We had to ask for it on our second visit, because they didn't bring it to our table automatically. My first visit, I had the bass acqua pazza (poached sea bass fillets, tomatoes, capers, chili, olives, garlic, tagliairini). It was okay, but probably not my favorite dish. The sea bass was a bit firm instead of being buttery soft. There was a bit too much oil for my liking. My coworker really liked this dish though, so maybe it was just personal preference. My second time, I had the seafood cioppino, and I was AMAZING. Lots of seafood that tasted delicious. The fish was soft and tender. The large pieces of shrimp were not over cooked. I liked the mussels and clams and calamari and scallops in the tomato broth with little bits of pasta. I highly recommend this dish if you like seafood. read more

Little Anthony's is not ready for Big things. I went there with a coworker on opening night. Having a son named Anthony I had high hopes. I mean, what a great name?!? We ordered the olives as an appetizer and I think they went to Greece to fetch them. It took about 40 minutes for a plate of them to reach the table. At the same time we thought, "where is the bread" to which we conceded perhaps they don't do bread here. I wanted to order the bolognese and was told "sorry we don't have that." Seriously?? Opening night, you had two years during the pandemic to prepare, and you don't have what should be your signature dish?? I settled for the salmon and my coworker went with a different pasta dish. The only saving grace was the food was decent. Not great, but not bad. As soon as we finished, the server brought bread to the table next to us. Seriously??? We were there two hours and no bread in sight. Insert Oliver gif here-"please sir, I want some more." The sole reason people go out to eat is FOR the little things. To include this adjective as part of your moniker, you need to live up to the hype. This place needs a lot of work before it will get more than one star from this reviewer. Came here for a company lunch where we were served a set three course lunch with some choices for the appetizer, main, and dessert. I chose the minestrone soup, mushroom risotto, and the seasonal panna cotta. The minestrone soup was mediocre, to be honest. It didn't leave a lasting impression, but was definitely perfect given the chilly weather outside. I tried some of my friend's turkey meatballs, and it was quite good. Not too dry, though it could have benefitted from more sauce. It was also a generous portion, with three massive fist sized turkey balls. I was originally very excited for the mushroom risotto, but ultimately found it quite disappointing. Mine was super creamy and buttery, which was nice; however, I found it too runny. My friend had ordered the same thing, but hers was much drier. In other words, the restaurant quality was inconsistent. I left it largely untouched... I finished with the panna cotta. It had poached pears with candied pistachios on the side, and I enjoyed it very much. In fact, I ate them all from the outset. The panna cotta was slightly firm and tasted a bit too strongly of cream cheese for some reason, but was still decent. I made a reservation on Open Table which was super easy. I came in and was greeted promptly and seated at my table. The dining room is medium sized, so probably good to make a reservation - especially for a weekday lunch. Our server was incredibly friendly and made us smile. I came here with a friend for a weekday lunch. We were surprised at how quick the meals came out. My friend had a caesar salad. It was a good size, with fresh bacon and parmasean. She said it was average tasting though. I had the veal marsala. It was delicious, with several pieces of veal and lots of mushrooms. For what's being offered, Little Anthony's or LA, delivers. Had two bottles of a lovely red although I can't remember the name now! But we celebrated a birthday (party of 5) and enjoyed the bacon dates (DELICIOUS), the turkey meatballs (3/5) -slightly salty, and Caesar salads-nothing extraordinary- to begin. We had the tagliatelle allá Bolognese, the Veal Chop, the Veal Osso Buco, and the Chicken Parm; every body loved their dish and had every last bit. The Veal Osso Buco was mine and did not impress but wasn't underwhelming either. The saffron risotto was not what I expected-over bearing in many ways. Dessert was Amaretto and Frangelico shots, the Panna Cotta - well received, and the LOVELY vanilla gelato. Would I come again? Not particularly, I don't love Italian for dining but this was a nice spot for a casual date, and alright in terms of Italian in Toronto. Nothing about this was extraordinary at all, in fact it was quite average. I have places I prefer for good Italian downtown. With the quality service I rate this a 3-3.5/5 -so great on that! First time here and I was not disappointed at all. Came to Little Anthony's to meet up with a friend over lunch. The venue is very clean and classy but without the over extravagant feel. I like that. I walked up to the front desk and the maitre d' brought me to the reserved table. Let's talk about service. The service staff here are very polite, have great attitude and great smile. One observation I made is, the patrons are known to some of the staff here. So that's a definite plus regarding high rate of returning customers. Food wise, I ordered the carbonara and that was pretty good. However, it was leaning more on the salty end and the noodle wasn't as al dente as I wanted it. Very disappointing if you want real Italian food. The menu is someone's notion of fancy culinary concoctions having nothing to do with real Italian cooking, mostly generic could-be-anything dishes. They had to Italian-sounding dishes weird. No marinara sauce of any kind anywhere! No gnocchi! No ricotta! Almost no Italian pasta dishes - everything risotto and you have to beg for some pasta off the menu! One bolognese dish with pork sausage. No cannoli for dessert. Caprese salad came out as a pink puff of razor-thin meat (prosciutto?) with a few slices of mozzarella and tomato hidden underneath. Caesar salad was ruined with garlic and chili! Saffron sauce? The best dish was a cheese plate I asked them to make up off the record, and there was no Italian cheese on it. As if Marco Polo never made it back to Italy, he got lost in some other continent. Decided to come here on a whim before a show at Four Seasons Center with some friends. The understated, clean exterior design of the establishment hides a charming and modern experience once you step through the glass doors. We were early and the place was a little empty, but once dinner time rolled in, so did the dinner crowd. Clearly a favourite spot for many who enjoy good food before good opera. We were given a lovely table right overlooking York Street's sidewalk and gotten ourselves some wine to start. I opted for their pre-opera prix-fix menu, which came with an appetizer, main, and dessert. I went with Caesar Salad, Salmon fillet, and Tiramisu cake to finish. The salad was about your average caesar salad, which I only ordered to cater my so-called diet, but the salmon was a marvellously-done feature that I could see myself drooling over again and again. The tiramisu helped to top off the evening with a nice note, well-constructed and creamy to the last bite. The downfall to these three pieces was that it took a rather long time - about 45 minutes, to be accurate - for the mains to come after the appetizer. The service was polite and courteous, if not somewhat lagging towards the end of the meal though the dinner crowd had an effect. I could definitely see this as a usual spot for anyone that frequents the Four Seasons' for any performance, whether for a pre-show drink or a full family gathering (it's an Italian restaurant, they're definitely about that spirit). Would recommend for anyone with some extra time, and extra room for Italian wine. read more

I came here with a friend for lunch during Summerlicious! We arrived at the restaurant at around 1pm and it was pretty much empty with the exception of one table being occupied. My friend and I enjoyed the quiet and peaceful time eating our meal and the silence did not feel awkward or anything. The servers were also very patient and nice, always coming by to refill our waters and ask us if we needed anything else! From the summerlicious menu, my friend and I both started with the Chilled Zucchini and Mint Soup; for mains, I got the Cioppino whereas the Chicken Al Forno was unavailable that day and was replaced with the Chicken Parmigiana, which was what my friend got. For dessert, I finished it off with an Olive Oil cake whereas my friend got the Tiramisu! I thought the soup and the cake were divine! The Olive Oil cake really surprised me and I can't wait to order it again next time I come! I thought the stew for the Cioppino was quite salty but maybe that's just a personal preference and I should have voiced it to the server beforehand to not make it too salty! My friend, on the other hand, really liked all of her dishes, especially the soup! I recommend coming to Little Anthony's during lunch on a weekday if you're looking for a more relaxed meal. I think their dinner crowd is definitely more intense and populated thus it probably gets way busier. If you are a pescatarian like me, I saw that their dinner menu has more options for that than their lunch menu. I met friends for supper tonight at Little Anthony's. I'd never been there before. We got there when it opened. We were given some bread and oil to start ... it was good. I ordered Rigatoni Arrabiata (spicy tomato sauce, smoked bacon, garlic, basil). It was okay. It wasn't spicy at all and I didn't notice the bacon. Some of the noodles weren't quite cooked. I thought $17.50 was a lot to pay for what I got. Deb and Liz ordered Strozzapreti (duck confit, mushrooms, parmigiano). Franca ordered Linguine al Olio (shrimp, garlic, chili, fresh arugula) and substituted the linguine for rigatoni. Hugo, our server, took good care of us. read more

I have been coming to Toronto in a weekly basis, and so far (6 weeks after) I have not had any meal that could give me a WOW feeling. That ended last night when I decided to try this restaurant which was located right next to my hotel. Upon arriving inside of the restaurant, I could smell the fresh pasta in the air, which was a great sign! Everything is absolutely fantastic not to mention the service and attention by the manager while you dine. I had the "Bacon Wrapped Dates" and that is probably one of the most flavorful foods I have ever ate! I am coming back for more and more excellent dinners here! You know a restaurant is "par excellence" when you keep going back again and again to relive your amazing dining experience! Little Anthony's is like a fine wine ... keeps getting better and better with age :) I called 5 restaurants if they can accommodate a party of 14 for lunch and not one of them can help me in the predicament I'm in. Frustrated and about to throw in the towel, I remembered Little Anthony's. To make the long story short, LA accepted us with open arms. Katy Yu (the Gen. Manager) was gracious enough to accommodate us on short notice. I also learned that she was on leave but still managed to act on my request. This to me, shows how an LA employee goes above and beyond their duties. In addition, Katy is the same manager who personally emailed and thanked me when I posted my first review of LA. I have written reviews but she's the only one who expressed her sincere gratitude for my online feedback. And as if luck is really on our side, I was so happy to see that our waiter was "MICHAEL" ... yes the same MICHAEL who served us before! He remembered me and he was gracious as ever. If there was an award for Best Server, hands down it should go to Michael! He's a perfect example of how a Hospitality Employee should be - Professional, Calm, People-Oriented and Caring. Gosh and I haven't even talked about the food! I could go on and on how great Little Anthony's is, but I'll just leave it up to you to experience it first-hand. read more

We had a great farewell/birthday event with some dear friends at the recently reopened Little Anthony's... a fabulous, cozy, authentic Italian restaurant boasting a charming ambience and incredibly hospitable hosts. All the food... appetizers, main course, and dessert were truly exceptional. The flavors of the main courses of salmon and homemade pasta were exquisite and cooked to perfection. Great service from a caring and knowledgeable staff enhanced the experience by making sure every customer got exactly what they wanted and left Little Anthony's happy, and you can tell making the customers happy was their main priority. We all had a fabulous time and thoroughly enjoyed our experience. As a couple of suggestions, try their excellent squid appetizer... a very generous portion , and the tiramisu was both delicious and beautifully presented... supported by an extensive wine list. I wasn't as excited about my martini, probably a poor choice for an Italian restaurant, so I would definitely stick with wine... or water. But, the food and the service were quite good. read more

I was invited to a business dinner here with 5 others, and we were treated to excellent service, beautiful decor and great food. We were there for 4 hours and not once did we feel rushed to leave. I didn't pay so I can't say whether it was worth the price... but I enjoyed my meal (pesto pasta with shrimp). I will note that the char on the shrimp tasted bitter/burnt but the bruschetta was really tasty (I usually find this appetizer boring and bland), and to finish, the tiramisu was delicious. Dropped in on a Friday night without a reservation and received a warm welcome. The room itself isn't spectacular but comforable enough. We ordered from the prix fixe and had the ravioli and the lobster for appetizers, the short rib and the salmon for mains and the hazelnut gelato for dessert. This was accompanied by the house red, the Chianti, which was fine. We found the service to be quite good; friendly and professional. We had no expectations but the food proved to be excellent: the lobster was tender and tasty and the ravioli quite good. The mains were also very good and the gelato was a wonderful surprise. Save your time and money! Went Saturday at 7 PM, four of us. The place was not busy at all, now we know why! Waiter came, he was friendly enough. Ordered a cocktail, that was all right, and a small glass of wine. For mains, we ordered the tagliatelle bolognese. It was all right (nothing to make it memorable), but the portion was TINY!! And... $29! My son ordered the short rib, ravioli, $31... the waiter brings a huge plate... with four ravioli on it! Not surprising at all by this point, just annoying. And again, taste was nothing memorable and no, the meal was not filling at all. I had to give my son half of my already minimal serving of tagliatelle. The other person in our party ordered the Caesar salad. Again, nothing special, just little bits of bacon in it, nothing to warrant the $18 price tag. Before they brought our meal, they brought us a small basket of bread. Don't think anything major, just four little slices of bread with some olive oil and balsamic vinegar. As we were very hungry, we ate the bread right away. The waiter then comes and tells us "oh, sorry, I can't bring you anymore because the bread is all frozen. We haven't had time to defrost anymore." Meanwhile, we see other waiters serving bread to other parties. When I called out the waiter about it, he didn't say anything. Unbelievable! Lastly, to add insult to injury, when the bill came, he charged us for a large glass of wine not, a small that we had ordered. An extra five dollar charge. We saw it and told him about it. He agreed there was a mistake (no apology), and removed the extra five dollars. Did he comp the wine charge to make up for the "frozen bread" story? No. We left $200 poorer... and still hungry! Save your money and go elsewhere. So many great restaurants in Toronto. Stay away from this one! read more

At 7, we finally managed to flag her down and tell her we had a reservation. Waited another 20 minutes before we were seated. I found it strange to wait that long since there were more than six tables that were free but many people with reservations were still waiting for their tables. Waited another 10 minutes before someone came to give us water. We ordered the turkey meatballs, the wild mushroom risotto, and strozzapreti genovese. The turkey meatballs were good. They was three and they were in a tomato-based sauce. They were quite juicy considering that they're turkey. The wild mushroom risotto was very strange like a dessert. It was sweet like sugar and the rice was mushy. I've never sent anything back to the kitchen before, but I couldn't eat the strozzapreti genovese. The whole dish tasted bitter and burnt. The shrimp was charred so maybe they mixed it in with the sauce and hence everything turned bitter. They replaced the dish and the new one tasted overly salty but not burnt. We were charged full price for the dish. In short, bad service and bad food. We will not be back. read more

We were in Toronto and staying at the Sheraton and decided to give Little Anthony's a try. The rack of lamb arrived and a pasta dish that was not what I had ordered was brought to the table. The rack of lamb was overdone and my braised ribs finally arrived 15-20 minutes later and both were missing the roast potatoes that were supposed to accompany the meal. There were roasted parsnips instead. The maître D sent a dessert to the table for us to "share" to make up for this disappointing meal....not impressed. read more

We were staying in downtown Toronto for one night and this restaurant caught our eye as it was right next to our hotel. It looked like an upscale restaurant and we decided to walk in. The dining hall was full, but we were seated in the bar area. The bar area was really comfortable with large tables. I told the waiter that I am a vegetarian and if he could substitute the meat in some of the pasta dishes for some vegetables (mushrooms, peppers etc). He waiter informed me that the chef cannot substitute anything in the recipe. This turned me off a bit as most restaurants are very accommodating with vegetarian preferences. Anyways, I asked him to just remove the meat without any substitutions. Now to the food: - They served bread as we were seated, and the bread was just amazing. I ended up asking for another serving. The bread was warm, perfectly flavored, and served with olive oil. - Coastal Russet Fries: Fries with flavor...we finished these within minutes. So good!! - Rigatoni Arrabiata (without guanciale): one of the best pastas I have eaten in a long time. It was perfect portion (not large plates like cheesecake factor). The spicy sauce added to the deliciousness of the pasta. I am craving it as I write this review. AMAZING!!! - Roasted Ontario Pork: My husband ordered this and made sure I mentioned this in my review. He said this was the best pork he has ever eaten. Apparently, this is one of their signature dishes. We had a chat with the owner as well. He was a very friendly guy from New York. He was telling us about the chef and other restaurants he owns. I would have given this restaurant 5 stars had it not been for the limited vegetarian options available at this place and unwillingness of substituting some veggies for the meat. Other than that, the food is just amazing. Its definitely on the pricey side, but the food and ambiance are so worth it!!! read more

Give you a hint: Not Tex-Mex. Little Anthony's is a medium-sized restaurant but is big on flavours and atmosphere. I arrived in advance of my dinner reservation to grab a drink at the bar. A long bar that runs the length of the entire lounge is serviced by a bartender in formal dress and armed with the ability to mix a very nice cocktail. Admittedly, my scotch and soda was not the most challenging of potable, but others that came in around me were more complex and were dealt with with ease. So, the staff are well prepared, then. We were sat to our table in the long artery that runs parallel with the bar that empties into a larger dining area at the rear of the restaurant. The wait staff are dressed formally and blend well with the décor that puts you in mind of the old-style Italian restaurants with white table cloths, ornate fixtures, and semi-circle booths for privacy for two or more. After our waiter finished performing an acapella version of "Some Enchanted Evening" to the entire dining room (Yeah, I had to read that twice myself...this happens here apparently where singers are hired as wait staff and will burst into song when they have a moment), our order was taken, our appetisers and wine delivered efficiently, our entrees hot and delicious. The freshness of the ingredients is apparent in every genuine Italian morsel. Delish. Also, an eye was kept on the time, as we were asked if we were going to the opera. I literally work beside it at an office building and when my friend from my old team wanted to meet up for dinner, craving for some Italian food, we decided to come here because it was close and looked beautiful from the outside. On a Friday night at 630pm, no reservation was required. We were greeted and seated right away when we walked in. First impression of the restaurant was, it looked very upscale, very nice decor and would be a perfect place for dates! I ordered the Tagliatelle alla Bolognese, the safest but yet the hardest Italian pasta to perfect. My friend ordered the Salmone Al Forno. My pasta was $20 for the main course size, which when it came, to me wasn't that big, taste wise, it was okay, the meat sauce was normal, nothing too outstanding. I think Terroni makes the better Bolognese pasta and it is cheaper too! Definitely didn't think it was worth $20. The salmon presentation was great, but my friend did mention it was a little too oily. For $20 a pasta, there is a lot of options within the area. We also ordered the Dark Chocolate Budino to share. The name of the dessert is misleading, it says Dark Chocolate, but they actually use Milk Chocolate, thus I thought it was a little too sweet. However, the presentation of the dessert was cute. Came on a weekday for lunch with a party of 5. Jacket was offered to be taken at the entrance. We had the sparkling water. Had 3 appetizers to share and I got a carbonara pasta with the dark chocolate budino For appetitizers I got the turkey meatballs as Yelp had a free coupon. We also ordered a large antipasto board and bacon wrapped dates. The board was okay nothing special. The bacon wrapped date was actually very tasty and special since it was sweet with he crunchiness of the bacon. However I can tell the pasta was hand made but too soft for my liking. The favour was good though for the sauce. Dark chocolate budino,$9, 4 stars Tasty, not too sweet. But nothing special. All in all, it was a good meal. A lot of the reviews said the portions are small. I think they are alright, maybe 20% less then normal pasta place.
