Located about 6 miles north of town, The Little Bear Inn is a throw back to the 60's in decor. This is not a slam at all, I found it rather nice in its own way. The menu is mostly steak with almost a full page of various cuts and preparations. A fairly extensive list of ordinary app's are available as are some fish, chicken and a few other choices. The steak was really excellent but the fish (trout) was only okay. Not bad, just not great. Full bar available, service was very attentive on the night we went but it was not very busy. While living in Cheyenne my wife and I went to the Little Bear on several occasions. It's off the beaten path and has a rustic Wyoming feel, perfect for the area. On one occasion we had steak, on another their fried lobster tail. The steak was among the best I've ever had, the fried lobster tail (supposedly a house specialty) was OK but not great. I'd recommend the place for those seeking the real deal, not a franchise or import (like Chinese in the middle of cattle country). Stick with the beef and enjoy the atmosphere. read more

My family and I had dinner here last night. WOW we had the Best dinner. We had Chicken fried steak and Peppercorn steak. It was so nice to see a chicken fried steak that didn't look and taste like cardboard! But tasted homemade, the Gravy was homemade and delicious . Our waiter was awesome! Attended Marine Corps Birthday Banquet, prime rib if you call it that failed to meet expectations as the 3 of us trimmed the fat and grizzle that filled a bread plate 3 inches high with very little meat. We used to go here years ago and I always had fond memories of it. It used to be a high quality restaurant. Unfortunately times have changed! I decided to splurge for my Birthday dinner and have the lobster tail probably should have asked what the current market price was, spent $65 which I wouldn't have minded as much if it had been great but it was just ok. My husband got the brandied steak and whatever the topping was tasted cold and terrible! My Mom had the scallops and they were awful, luckily they didn't have to pay for those. Our group, celebrating a birthday, had an excellent meal with excellent service. I had the "Stuffed Portabella mushroom" which they describe as, "A large Portabello cap stuffed with artichoke dip, fresh vegetables, and mozzarella cheese. Wrapped and baked puff pastry and then served on a mirror of Bordelaise sauce." It was truly great, and I had a cheesey Southwestern-style corn chowder, also great, before that. Those in the group who had steaks said they were excellent. And of course we had to have their famous "Bear Balls" which is ice cream covered in crushed Oreos." I didn't expect to find rustic, yet fine dining outside of Cheyenne, Wyoming, and I was pleasantly delighted with Little Bear Inn. I made a reservation, which perhaps wasn't necessary, as there were a few tables open. Our server was very kind and efficient. The restaurant boasts a dance floor and on Saturday night, a live musician, who played some great tunes at a reasonable decibel level. I started with the french onion soup (sans cheese). The flavors were nicely developed (I might have reduced it more and caramelized the onions a bit further but that's a personal taste and certainly did not reduce the quality of the soup). I then had the garlic New York Strip. My husband accuses me of thinking that a head of garlic is not garlicky enough for me, but this steak stood up to it nicely. The steak was cooked just right, a beautiful crusty sear, roasted garlic cloves on top, and surprise, whole garlic cloves studded in the steak - pure bliss! I paired it with homemade french fries, which did not disappoint. My husband had a garlic-mushroom-brandy rib-eye, and it was delicious, as well. We had a bottle of wine, and the entire meal was reasonably priced. What a disappointment. Having been to Little Bear for numerous special occasions; you cannot image our surprise when the food was terrible. My steak was overly spiced when I specifically requested that not happen. The other steak was rare as opposed to medium. Our waitress was totally out to lunch. No point in bringing anything to her attention! Oh, and the toppings for the loaded baked potato were listed individually on the bill @ $.50 per. After many years of dinning a always go to for a good meal I have been a big fan of there deep fried lobster . My wife took me out for my birthday for dinner. I ordered my go to deep fried lobster well I got some of the worst tasting chunks of I'm not sure what it was in some type of batter It tasted like crap. No lobster tail battered and deep fried. Manager came over a said she would get another for me same crap showed up. Two stars mostly for the friendly staff, location, and fun decoration (e.g. grizzly bear). The food is not good: steaks come overcooked and not tasty. I asked for medium rare and received medium, my wife asked for medium well and received well done. The kids menu's mac and cheese was from the Kraft box (this is not a figure of speech, it was actually from the Kraft box). The onion soup at the beginning was average. The vegetable side with the steak was bland. It is a shame because there ought to be a good steakhouse in Cheyenne. But this one ain't it. read more

First time here and most of our party was impressed. Four of the 6 people had great steaks while the other 2 steaks were very fatty and had lots of gristle. The baked potatoes were huge and had the fixings on the side which I really like. We were there on a Saturday night so there was live music. Steaks were amazing and the atmosphere is fun. Great place to take out of town guests for a "Cheyenne" experience. I would stay away from the seafood/vegetarian dishes as they're not worth the price. I got the $23 stuffed shrimp dish and it was SO TINY and very greasy. My mother got the Garden En Crux and the portobello was uncooked in the middle and the veggie patty was tasteless. I have enjoyed their food many years. However, I had a terrible experience. I was helping my disabled father and unknowingly dropped my purse. I realized it the next day. I called and left multiple messages but the restaurant was closed for a week and a half. When I was able to get a hold of them they quite rudely stated my purse was not there. After multiple unsuccessful interactions over the phone and being told multiple times they had cleaned and checked for my purse and it was not there, I drove myself and kids to the restaurant. Upon arrival I was treated rudely as if I was annoying. I finally was able to go look for my purse. I found it exactly where I told the staff multiple times I believed it was. Then I was again treated rudely "you have your purse now". Super sad about this customer service interaction! read more

Called this afternoon to check if we needed reservations and were told they don't take them! Ok so took visiting family for dinner. Arrived at 6:15 and not busy at all. Checked salad bar on way in and very low on available items, especially the lettuce salad! Ordered fish which we got but with two different available cook methods! Pan fried were great but the French fried was over-breaded with an extra thick hard crust of cornmeal! (I believe it was hard because left in fryer way too long!) I was unable to eat it! Our server only checked with us to bring the lemons she had forgotten! I had not even tried my fish yet! Next time we saw her she was delivering our bill. She went to remove our plates and saw my fish almost 100% there and asked if I wanted a box. I told her the situation with the meal and that I would have told her had she checked back on our table. Her excuse was that she was "too busy". However, she stopped at the next table every time she passed because she had asked them if they were visitors (they were). Don't get me wrong I believe we should all make our visitors feel welcome but how about the locals who help keep the restaurant successful? Are they not just as important? Probably won't go back for a long long time! read more

Pretty solid steakhouse. Menu is pretty much what you would expect to find, lots of steaks, various fish and chicken dishes. I had a buffalo sirloin that was cooked perfectly, seared well, very juicy, not the least bit tough. Also had a good microbrew from Fort Collins. The pan fried walleye is fantastic. I live in Denver and will be stopping here for walleye every time I have a business trip in Wyoming.

Had salmon that tasted okay. The rice pilaf was bland. The rolls they served can be bought at any grocery store. They were dry and crumbled. The plate I was supposed to put my dinner roll on was dirty. Service was horrible. Getting the attention of a server is almost impossible even when they are looking at you and your waving at them to come over. The only time they smiled was when they brought the bill. There weren't that many customers in the restaurant. The salad bar looked pretty good. I didn't see anyone eating steak You couldn't smell any steak being cooked. Two guys playing music made this meal bearable. Had the bear balls for dessert. Very good. I don't feel that it is worth the drive or the price of the meal to go there again. While leaving we killed a rather larger bug that scampered across the dance floor. An elderly lady had her birthday there. The server brought out a bear ball lit a candle placed it in front of her and left. No song - not even a Happy Birthday was heard from the server. Love this place!! We go out there once a month for our date night and have the best time. The food is delicious, the atmosphere is fun and relaxing. We get the steak and lobster. We always have enough food for lunch the next day. I first thought that the prices here were high but when I investigated the prices at the other steak houses in town (outback and texas roadhouse) they were actually better priced. You got a bigger cut of steak, a fresh salad with a baked potato, and the food is made fresh not canned. We recently celebrated my moms 91st birthday at Little Bear Inn. There were 17 of us with 3 children under the age of 10. The service was good. The Rib-eye steak that I had was wonderful. People ordered everything from the Prime Rib to chicken. I didn't hear one complaint. It was a nice relaxing experience without all the loud TV's and music that so many places have now. Don't go!!!! I have lived in cheyenne for five years and like many locals I generally feel deprived of good food. So, I was excited to try Little Bear and I had heard great things. However the decor is beyond rustic and the restaurant tries to cover up the trailer house finishes. It is clean which was a nice surprise given the decor. Now onto the food. I had the bruschetta app. which was OK but I could have done better at home. Their dinner rolls are straight from the store and stale. Their menu describes their dishes beautifully so I tried the Baked Stuffed Shrimp with the crab dip. The crab was from a can and the shrimp were soooo over cooked the one I did eat was chewy. My husband had the special which was a rib eye. There was more fat than meat. The veggis and baked potato were done well. Overall we spent 75 dollars on a VERY disappointing meal. The waitress was awesome and the best part of the experience. However we will NOT be going back. read more

We went to a birthday party here for my cousin. First time here and my first impression was WOW why haven't I made this trip before. What followed I received my answer. For a party of about 30 we had 1 waitress, nice yes, but horrible service. Many not just myself had to actually get up from our seats and follow her in order to place a drink order. We were told when we made the reservations that we were to have cocktails from 6-7 and order dinner at 7. The waitress finally showed up around 730. Dinner was served at 830. Mind you children were also apart of this party, the parents were never offered to put the kids' food in first nor did they do anything to accommodate them being hungry and waiting. I ordered the Ribeye,medium well, asked for a SIDE of bourbon sauce. My steak came out burned and slathered in what tasted like a horrible version of honey mustard. When I asked what it was and why it tasted so awful, I was told that was their bourbon sauce and asked if I wanted another plate to put my steak on.....??? I asked for a new steak, 45 minutes later it arrived, I ate half and took the rest to go since the party was ending. Oh, almost forgot to mention, my children's meal consisted of 2 chicken strips and a very small side of apple sauce (on the menu for $7.95!!) After coming home I got very sick, had the runs for the next 24 hours.... Needless to say my first trip is also my only trip to this place. Service was POOR, food was POOR, and the prices are INSANE for what you recieve. read more
