I seldom write reviews; some of the employees flat out suck-- very unprofessional and short.

TL;DR: $8 for a few onion slices! I've been a Pizzeria…read moreParadiso customer for 20 years, first at the Dupont and Georgetown locations. So I was thrilled when one opened up in Hyattsville, not far from where I live. My partner and I have been there many times over the past few years and have always enjoyed it. But we were flabbergasted by our most recent experience. The food is as good as it ever was, but the value just isn't there. We were in on a Wednesday night and noticed a table sign for a special: two large pies and two appetizers for $60, so we ordered that. We each had one drink as well, and split a dessert. The bill came to over double that amount! We have paid less when eating in fine dining establishments. Why was our bill so high? Two main reasons: first because the upcharge for an additional topping is $4 each. I would expect that for fancy meat or cheese, but we only added red onion slices. Onions are one of the cheapest things in the supermarket, and $8 will buy a lot of onions. But I guess that's on us for not noticing that all additional toppings are the same (high!) price. Also, PP automatically adds a 20% charge in lieu of a tip. I have mixed feelings about that (and about the increases in tip culture in general). Our service was fine but not exceptional. Sadly, we will think hard before returning to PP. There are many other good pizza places out there.

My favorite pizza is the Bosco: mushrooms, spinach, onions and recently I ordered the 1/2 pizza with Bianca, a white pizza with mozzarella capers and spinach. The food is incredibly tasty but I do feel like the pizzas are on the small side for the price. I don't have a huge appetite but I could it a 12 inch all on my own. Staff is fine, I wouldn't say anything bad but they also weren't that warm. Great spot for dinner and their outdoor patio suits all seasons.

We ordered a large pepperoni pizza, a small meatball pizza, and a salad. The pizzas were so good but the salad was kind of odd. It was broccoli, carrots, peppers, onions, and a little bit of lettuce. I think they had run out of ingredients (we were asked if a "garden" salad was ok, and sure why not? But it was more of a mixture of veggies, sorry I didn't snap a pic). Stick with the pizza and you're golden! We cannot wait to return.

I ordered a Bahn Mi Rice Bowl and it was delicious with the right amount of spice and seasoning. I was a little worried about the level of chili in the tofu but was assured Franklins typically keeps it fairly mild...and it was. The fresh mint was lovely mixed with the jasmine rice, carrot ribbons and finely chopped mushrooms. The chili peach jam was a perfect sauce. The restaurant has a lot of character with artwork on the walls and lots of booth seating as well as tables and chairs. There is also outdoor seating at picnic tables at "The Hut" and the Quarantiki Room open seasonally. Make sure to check out the store next door, which offers a wide variety of gift items as well as their craft brews.

I am on their email list (and yes I read most of my emails that are of interest to me) and noted they had an Oktoberfest kick off party happening this week on Thursday evening from 6pm -9pm in their outside patio, so decided to come here. We showed up at 6pm on the dot and the place outside was already packed with people. They were having a live Oktoberfest trio band play, so that was cool! A lot of people were in their Oktoberfest garb/outfits, which was adorable. The challenge was getting a beer and a non alcoholic drink for my mom. They had nothing NA for her and she ended up just having a glass of ice water. I got in the mobbed line and had a Kellerbier, which was brewed especially for Franklin's and Oktoberfest. They had an issue with their handheld payment device so that made the line longer. Beer was fine, but wished I could have gotten my mom a lemonade or iced tea. The other issue was the seating. We opted to sit over in the sandbox/kids area and the picnic tables didnt feel like the best use of space. The trio band was lovely and played some nice tunes including Edelweiss which is one of my favorite songs ever (yes I loved The Sound of Music and have watched this so many times as a kid with my mom) but it would have been nice to see the band more in the center of things, closer to the bar hut. They were serving up German sausages and huge pretzels but the line for beverages and food was so long that I didnt bother to purchase food. This was a great idea and I hope that the next one they do, they can iron out some of the wonky kinks. I'd come back again for an Oktoberfest for sure. My mom and I had a great time!

This place is phenomenal!…read more We visited on a Thursday, just after they opened at 11. We were able to find street parking right out front, and order pretty quickly. We got a Dino Rib, Wagyu Brisket, cornbread, banana pudding, key lime pie, blackberry cider, and water, which totaled just under $100. And I will say it was well worth it!! The only thing we probably could have done without was the key lime pie. The employees were friendly and service was quick. The whole place gave instant Texas vibes, even the bathroom matched the bbq style, super cute. We will definitely return again.

We aren't big meat eaters so perhaps might've ordered the wrong things. On the day we came, we ordered the brisket tamale (2 come in an order), an order of the Texas chili (this was the special), an order of the herby potato salad, sweet potato fries, 4 pieces of cornbread and a banana pudding. Ordering these items came to $47. My mom had a Boylan's sweet lemonade and I had a pilsner draft. We sat outside on one of the many picnic benches under a tree and sampled all the goods. Texas chili - this was pretty so-so for me and tasted like spaghetti sauce to me vs chili. It had a bit of a kick to it. I didn't really care for this dish and won't order again. Brisket tamale - this by far was the favorite item for me, however, pretty skimpy on the brisket. Some sour cream and pico de gallo would have been nice to accompany the tamale. Sweet potato fries - solid and tasty but hard to screw up fries really. Herby potato salad - way too watery for me, seemed the potatoes soaked up a lot of fluid and this style of potato salad didn't work for me. Cornbread - solid, no issues there. Banana pudding - pretty tasty, with real bananas and Nilla wafers mixed in and on top. I would come back for this. I deducted one star for some things we sampled that really didn't work. Another star deducted as the prices were higher than what I am willing to pay for given the quality and taste. Overall, a bit underwhelming but also we didn't order items that they are known for. I would come back to give more popular items a try another time.
