I went to Dr Jill Patt based on a recommendation from a small dog Pomeranian breeder. It was a long drive on the opposite side of town. Point being, I have not kept up with driving all the way across town for future visits BUT what Dr Patt taught me during our visit lasted through the years. To back up, I could not understand why my new puppy (now an adult) would not look me in the eye. I assumed she was 'blind' since my former beloved / belated always looked me in the eye and that was my frame of reference. Dr Patt tested Lola's eyes, and also tested her behavior. Nope, my Lola was not blind. So now what? Dr Patt gave me behavioral advice; she said try agility training exercises and gave me a myriad exercises. So I went home with my puppy and employed that advice. Wouldn't you know? We had a blast. In hindsight, Dr Patt gave the HUMAN the advice that was needed to make my puppy thrive. Now, fast forward 4 years. Lola loves agility games, especially the hand signals that Dr Patt debriefed me on. Who would have known? I am not a dog trainer; nor do I train Lola at all anymore. But thanks to the EARLY formative advice from Dr Patt, my Lola looks like an exceptional obedience personality at home and in public. She gets a crowd. Would this be possible without the RIGHT advice at the RIGHT time in her development? Who knows? I believe that the advice we were given was a game changer. Thank you for setting us up on the right paw. === UPDATE: June 15, 2024: I do not log onto to Yelp often and I now see my year's old post was still in a draft format and was never published. Lola will be 7 years old in a couple weeks! I am publishing this review now a few years after our visit. The advice I received from Dr. Patt in 2017 was remarkable. I will never forget the day in which I thought Lola was "blind" because my new family companion would not respond to me in the way I expected. When Lola was a puppy, she would not look me in the eye. As a puppy, she would just sit there like a statue. I was heart-broken. Dr. Patt explained this temperament was a 'positive' asset and encouraged me to mentally stimulate Lola. Dr. Patt even shared agility training class options. As referenced above, I followed Dr. Patt's advice and challenged Lola, as a puppy, with sophisticated training exercises. Lola and I BONDED immediately upon the advice provided to me from Dr. Patt. In case you are wondering, Lola now looks me in the eye all the time (something that is not immediately natural to dogs, since it can also pose a "threat"). Lola grew into an incredible companion, thanks in part to the early training advice I received. Dogs attach to their family for a myriad of different reasons. I believe Dr. Jill Patt is a "DOG PSYCHOLOGIST". She understood Lola's angst as a puppy in the home of a stranger. The advice I received ultimately helped to form an incredible bond that continues to build year-after-year. Game changer. read more

Dropped off my bunny because she was having some issues. Told us she is fine just we need to give her some medicines and to go home, went back right after we left and tried to ask a question about her meds and they had locked the door right behind us. The worst place from front desk workers to the actual vet who works there. The vet was trying to over charge and acted very unprofessional and proceeded to work on my animal without Anesthetic and when they couldn't do it they had us retrieve our pet and we toke our pet to another vet and we explained to the new vet what little critters did and they also agree that the vet that works here is a low down scum person who overcharges and probably doesn't even know how to work on animal sense everything the vet said here was disproven by the next vet. The vet at little critters was trying to say bunnies can't have oral antibiotics but we got opinions from two other vets who often give oral antibiotics for bunnies. The vet here should lose her license and maybe even prove she has one read more

Don't take your animals to this vet! No one realizes they are taking videos of your poor animals that are in pain and need medical attention behind your back! Your sitting in the waiting room for hours, while they are in another room taking YouTube/ Facebook videos and telling you they are very busy when you ask how much longer... She may be a decent vet but this is really sad to know my animal was in distress while she took a video of my love when I thought he was getting the proper medical treatment that I took him there for.. This really upsets me this is happening to animals in her care everyday! Also they are money hungry telling you they need unnecessary test when you told the vet they have no symptoms and get the results back they didn't have it at all! I wish so desperately that I would have listened to the other... interesting reviews, that were already here before mine. I'll try my best to keep this light(ish) and short(ish) for you hopeful browsers out there! That way, you can get any info you want or need for consideration, and then keep on shopping elsewhere for a primary vet for your fur babies, because I promise you now: this is not that place. Welcome, everyone, to the "Dr. Patt" show! The pro's: 1. If you love hypocrisy and you don't mind making yourself at home in the waiting and visiting room, this is the place for you! Expect to be waiting a minimum of 30 minutes past your scheduled appointment time to be seen by a nurse, let alone a vet. If you work any kind of Mon-Fri job, do yourself a favor and just request the whole day off for the appointment. It's going to take awhile. But hey, at least they're consistent with something! Although, it is unfortunate that it happens to be an inability to stay on track for their appointments... or communicate any delays as a result to pet owners. 2. The nurses are lovely! So chatty and friendly that they will speak to their previous clients nearby for sometimes up to 45 minutes while you are their next client waiting in a room to be seen. Don't worry too much though, you can hear their conversations through the walls to keep yourself entertained if you forgot to bring your own wait time entertainment! Or, if you're lucky and are a client calling in with a heartbreaking request, you might get to listen to Little Critters lovely hold music, blissfully unaware that the staff is openly discussing what to do about your actively passing pet (although to be fair, the receptionist couldn't remember if it was the client's rat or bunny, so a nurse had to get back on the call and ask again... because the receptionist was not paying attention in the initial moments of the inbound call, which is of course just so considerate of the staff to keep them on hold for that, even I must admit)... At the time of that interaction there were two clients in the waiting room, both within earshot of the discussion. Side note: I am so incredibly sorry to whoever the person was on the other line of that call, and that you were able to find a peaceful way to have your fur baby pass on to the rainbow bridge. No amount of time would have ever been enough, and I am so sorry for your loss. If you'd like further proof yourself to steer clear of this institution outside of my... admittedly biased (yours might be too with an experience like this) review, look no further than the social media accounts associated with this facility. Dr. Patt herself is the only featured "educator", using YOUR pets and their ailments to make extra, free money off of you and your pets' health conditions. If any of their social media accounts are monetized, you would do well to know that they are eagerly profiting off of your pets' health concerns (likely to pay for Dr. Patt's upkeep of a bad case of poorly executed cosmetic surgery, but that's an opinion I should probably keep to myself). And while filming these TikTok and Facebook videos, you will be kept waiting and still be overcharged for your naivety in choosing this vet practice. If that sounds like a good time for you, please call and make an appointment for your furry family member! Maybe they'll be "featured" on the page, and what an honor that would be! (For my good vet practices, I have always LOVED having animals in my care be featured on the practice pages by the way, just... not somewhere like this.) That's the big stuff! But here are a few extra, more detailed warnings for those who may find them helpful: The vets on staff are not avian certified. If you care about the health of your exotics, do your research and find a vet that actually has the specialty education to properly care for your "little critter". Your pets will thank you for it, and so will your wallet. I personally recommend taking any birds to Arizona Exotic Animal Hospital, whose staff does have the necessary certifications to properly care for any avian, feathered friends. This facility gorges its prices comparatively to other veterinary practices in the surrounding area and will add unnecessary expenses to your account if you are not diligent. Be careful about your pushback if you are comfortable expressing any dissatisfaction. In the case that Dr. Patt decides you are a threat if any business feedback is provided that contradicts her delusion of excellent service, she will make you her newest villain and potentially storm out like a petulant child, then refuse your pet service completely (why? Because she's the big boss lady and she can- oh, and don't count on actual substantial evidence or cross-referencing, it doesn't matter once she's lost her temper and made up her mind... We have recently started bringing our Shih Tzu puppy Bella to Dr. Moore, but we have been going to Little Critters for over a year with Dr. Patt for our box turtle. Dr. Moore is amazing. She is so good with Bella. She has a bubbly personality and stops to answer any questions that we have and doesn't make us feel rushed in anyway. Kaitlyn the nurse is terrific. She is so personable, friendly, and just an overall sweet person who cares about the pets and the clients. I would definitely recommend Little Critters Veterinary Hospital to anyone with a pet. Dr. Patt and all of her staff are such sweethearts. I started going here when COVID hit, and as someone very high risk, I really appreciate all that they did/do. They are not as expensive as the exotic vets nearby, which is a life saver. They've made occasional slight mistakes but are always quick to fix. Also, if you have cats, they have a room filled with shelves for them!! Their rooms are amazing. My last appointment they had an intern/vet student with the nurse/doctor. I have brought both my bearded dragon and puppy to Little Critters for a variety of reasons (general check ups, emergency, illness, etc.) and every single time, they have shown the utmost care and compassion toward my pets. There is just something special about how they genuinely love every animal they see and don't treat them like "just another patient." Additionally, the staff is knowledgeable and able to explain information in a way that is straightforward without being over your head. I've called many times with questions about my reptile and they have been patient and helpful in every instance. Little Critters was recommended to me by a friend who has had guineapigs under their care for years and she raves about their above and beyond care of her for babies still to this day. I would have been new customer, and this will be a one-time experience. Made an appointment at approximately 11:32 a.m. for 11:00 a.m. the following day for two small mammals. I paid the full visit FEE, not deposit, of both small mammals to be seen by the same veterinarian within the same hour, fine. One of my small mammals no longer required the visit. I called and asked if I could transfer the deposit to the small mammal that was being seen (no refund requested). I was told I forfeited the deposit because I tried cancelling within 24 hours. I explained I could not comply with a policy under any circumstance since it was already past the 24-hour period when I made the appointment. Would not budge. I have not even walked into veterinarian yet and I am already irritated. I explained that you cannot refuse a refund for a service that has not been provided, she disagreed. Never once did I scream (but that's the narrative some push, so the call was recorded). I receive a call from Ariel talking about trust and how because of my threat of reporting them to the veterinarian board of Arizona we have a breakdown in trust. They offered to refund me for one visit but not the other. Wild. read more

Avoid this place for pet mice!!! My mouse was prescribed antibiotics and a steroid for a URI. They decided to water down the medications from the original concentration so that my mouse now had to take 0.1 ml of both medications. I don't know if they have never given a mouse medicine but they cannot swallow 0.1 ml in one swallow !!!! Meaning I had to administer my mouse's medicine multiple times to reach 0.1 ml. Dr. Pratt refused to give me a higher concentration so that administration would be easier and overall less stressful for my sick mouse. Stating it's "unsafe" to give me a higher concentration. Also made me feel guilty for not wanting to put my mouse under anesthesia for an x-ray while she was in respiratory distress. The risk of complications were very high and after I refused they still pressed me to do an x-ray. read more

If you don't ask questions and don't mind paying for unnecessary add ons then this is your place. DR. Patt loves to lecture you so watch out there. Her holier than though attitude to long standing paying clients is outrageous. Watch out if you don't agree with her or question a "mandatory" add ons for a routine procedure. She will belittle you and make you feel like you're a bad pet owner for not wanting to pay for every extra she can jam on the sheet. Dr. Patt even talks down about the other vets and told me "that she treats their mistakes regularly" and that if I didn't want to pay for her "mandatory" add ons that I should go to a cheap place that doesn't meet her level of "care". Her level of "care" is just your dollars for extra work that's not necessary. I went to another vet and got the same procedure handled with zero problems to my dog for half the price. Went in to see why my dog is having no heat, irregular heats, or late heats, and they came back and told me they were uncomfortable going through with breeding with an aggressive dog. I didn't come in to go over breeding. I came in to see why she isn't going into heat and has had irregular heats in the past. What if she has a tumor or worse? We had our first appointment here for my bunny. I was treated with such kindness and helpful services for my bunny. Staff is warm and welcoming. I had the best care for my bunnies first visit. Not one time did I have an issue with staff. They got my bunny Vaccinated, Wellness check, micro chipped, & set up for a spaying appointment. So is distancing was implemented and I was so excited about that. Staff works hard running in and out to all appointments. They accommodated me by allowing me to stay in my vehicle. I spoke to our doctor who was also very warm... let's keep in mind I could feel these things over the phone so imagine if we were face to face. I absolutely trust them with my baby and they even texted me to make sure whiskey was feeling great after her appointment. They don't wait, they immediately do a check in. Which I am so impressed with. They also did not try to force me to get services they make recommendations and ask if I would like them, which I appreciate. I don't like surprises. I took my cat here several years ago for a vomiting issue. My cat is extremely skittish anywhere outside the home and reacted poorly to being handled and ran away from the vet techs in the hallway and they almost lost him. Afterwards they determined best option was to sedate with an injectable sedative, which was fine. The next time he was prescribed an at home liquid sedative before his visit, again fine. However, what I learned at the next visit was this vet refuses to give cats the 3 year rabies vaccine requiring you to come in annually and pay an office visit every year plus the vaccine fee. I stopped going here for that reason. Then fast forward a few years and I had to make an appointment with them because my cat broke a tooth and a new vet couldn't provide a sedative and didn't offer the injectable sedative so I made an appointment at Little Critters and asked if they allowed owners inside with the pets (because covid) and they said yes. So everything I needed for my cat with a possible infection and who knows what else was set. The evening before my Saturday morning appointment I get a call confirming my "curbside" appointment and I was super confused. I questioned what the receptionist meant by curbside and then I did get upset but at no point did I yell, use any derogatory language, or anything of the sort. I even told her how upsetting it is to find out the night before my appt that I could not come in with my already terrified cat to only add more trauma to his visit and to have him be sedated without me there to know a trusted human was present for him. I also said I was never told that I was to have a curbside appointment where I couldn't come in nor was I told at booking that he would have to stay without me there all day because it is nearly an hour drive to their vet from where I now live. The last time he received the injectable sedative, I was able to stay with him in the office and took him home with me that day-he did not have to stay all day so not understand why that changed. I said at this point I would have to cancel. I could not understand why they would want to traumatize a cat who already experiences trauma at the vet. Then I did say it was a shame that they were doing this to a cat who needed to see a vet. Then I got a call back but couldn't answer from the office manager, Jennifer, who has banned me from coming in to Little Critters again, which is absolutely an overreaction and she should have spoken with me first. Her knee-jerk reaction is inappropriate considering she wasn't on the call AND I did say anything to warrant that reaction. Clearly they don't want patients and they don't want good reviews. And this is extra sad because Dr. Patt was my vet all the way back to 1998 at Alta Mesa Animal Hospital. I am appalled at how they handled everything considering I cancelled the appointment first and said I absolutely could not do that to my cat especially because I never would have booked it in the first place for a curbside appointment. Don't go here if you don't want to be blindsided. I am beyond disappointed and frustrated and sad for my cat who now has to wait even longer to be seen because I cancelled with another vet to go here where they could sedate him to help with his terror. This is unfair treatment to animals by this vet to force curbside appointments. Update: found out why they banned me; direct from Jennifer the office manager-because I said to the receptionist that the reason it was super important that I come inside was that my cat got away from two of their vet techs at his first visit there and they had to chase him down and thankfully he didn't get outside but he could have and thankfully he didn't but when he came back to the room, he saw me and was comforted. So my review stands because that is an insane reason to ban someone for pointing out an issue that occurred that I felt was necessary for me to be inside (and they do have inside appointments currently). read more

I arrived when no other appts were there. We we already in a room and vitals taken, then the "scheduled" appts began piling in. After an hour waiting I left. I understood I was being worked in, but you should have seen me first or at least let me know when I booked the appt I would have at least an hour wait!! Communication is a beautiful thing. I got charge a ton for a bunch of tests and given unnecessary meds. MY dog almost passed away from valley fever because Lil Critters couldn't take the time to notify us of our dogs failed test results , after we left the office. I'm sure they'd make 10 phone calls if a dollar was owed but none to inform us of a deadly disease that our dog had after testing for it. Thanks for the crap customer service. I feel bad for your pets if you bring them to yourself. Hopefully in the future you make an effort to talk to a client when their pet is diagnosed with a deadly disease instead of just collecting a check. read more

She took my healthy dragon that was coming in for his first visit just a checkup on 2/15/21 and gave him back to me that night he was brain dead she was heartless about it she was just after money 1000%. He had nothing wrong with him prior, and I have not heard anything back from you people it's been 4 days and you want me to tell you how the visit went over text and email "thanks for letting us care for you're best friend, how likely am I to recommend ?" My best friend is dead now and I received no results or explanation of the visit! "Dr." Kenney was condescending and inconsiderate! She should of cared about his life.
