It's a humble little place located inside a giant gas station convenience store. The prices are reasonable, 9.99 for the Street taco plate and the food is pretty good with generous portions. The steak tacos were pretty bomber and the red salsa really added a nice kick. The chicken was also well seasoned and yummy. Thet served with solid course of rice and beans plus a roasted serrano (yum) and grilled onions. They have a few booths for you to park yourself if you eat in and being tied to a gas station, many beverage options including coke and pepsi fountains. It's all self service. Order at the counter and they call you. Good choice for a meal.

Mushy rice, 1 steak, 2 trompo, and 1 barbacoa.

The food quality isn't consistent. When I ordered from Little Elm tacos, I try to get different tacos because the last one was just alright. I went today and my rice is mushy. The steak had several pieces of gristle in it. You have to Always check your food. Either the type of tortilla isn't right or the side that you substitute for isn't right. I will try back in a couple of months. It is still a good taco spot to try.

I've been by this place a few times. When I first came by over 5 years ago the food was delicious. I don't know what has happened. Maybe change of cooks or management but I was in the area and decided to stop by today. The cashier was great. She made some recommendations on a 5 taco plate that I decided to try. To my surprise it came with a drink. The area felt clean and there were window side tables for you to enjoy a quick meal on the run. The store itself was clean and had a great appearance. Just like I remember. Then I was called up for the food. I don't know what happened here but the beef tacos literally fell apart. The beef was a bit bland. The green hot sauce was very oily. I mixed it up as best I could but it just was so runny it made a mess. I then tried the pastor tacos. The meat itself definitely was a reheat. So much that it was burned. Just look at the pic. This was not crunchy from watching it and turning it. This looked like a flat iron press and just set it and forget it. I tried to eat as much as I could. I ended up throwing out the rest. I can't say I will return anytime soon. It is not what I remember. It has changed and this change is not an improvement. I apologize but the rice, beans, and grilled onions were good. Service was good. For these reasons I give it 3 stars. On the run, maybe. A good lunch not so much. Maybe I'll try a burrito next time. Wonder if that will be my good luck charm. Good luck everyone.

    Street Tacos - $7.99 deal

An unexpected gem at the Exxon gas station! The $7.99 street taco deal is a great value. I ordered the chicken, steak, and carnitas tacos, and they were all good. Add the humongous drink on top of this, and you have one happy customer! I would definitely recommend swinging by if you need a quick lunch, and I would totally return the next time I'm in the neighborhood.

Trompo and barbacoa with the taco trimmings and flower tortillas sorry corn not in picture.

ONE BITE TACO CHALLENGE One bite review with only what they normally provide meaning I add nothing but the ingredients and sauces they provide... First the barbacoa meat was really flavorful and tender, onions and cilantro fresh and tasty (need more cilantro in with the onions )and grilled onions yea they provide two types of onions raw and cooked. The sauce that was provided was Definitely a 9 out of 10. Secon the Trompo same set up as above raw onions mixed with cilantro and grilled onions and lemons. Meat was not as tender as the barbacoa and some pieces a little one the tuff side. Although the flavor was still on point. Definitely a 7.5 out of 10. Lots of lemons in the container would loved to had a couple less and maybe a wedge of lime. And possibly some tomatillo sauce would set the taco off. If you have any suggestions on taco plates please message me but not in comments on the review to be respectful of the business.

UPDATE COVID19 ORDER : Wow its been 5 years since my last review, and to be honest I don't buy lots of tacos 1- because I normally make my own. 2- I really just don't eat too many of them. These are good tacos, not great but fills the void. What just floored me was what you get with the family meal for 30.00. 3lbs of Trompo meat (Was more like 4lbs) tons of tortillas, salsas, grilled onions, grilled serranos peppers, regular chopped onions and cilantro, tons of limes. Its 5 of us at the house we still had about 1.1/2lbs left over, making me some quesadillas with the left over meat or possibly some burritos tomorrow, you CANNOT BEAT THE PRICE! For what you get, perfect for football games, Hockey Championship Go Stars! Good stuff

So my boyfriend had a craving for Trompo tacos and was willing to go on a mini roadtrip to find them! As any good girlfriend would, I hopped on board for the ride. Our search led us to this Trompo King, located inside of a Chevron gas station. ***PLEASE NOTE*** Due to current quarantine situation, they currently have a no mask, no service policy in place. Thankfully, I had a few masks in my purse so this was fine for us. However, if you haven't really been taking the mask thing seriously, consider this before coming in! Now back to the review, I must say, I just recently started coming around to the idea of giving gas station food a chance, so this was clearly a big step for me. We walked in and everything smelled, AMAZING!! We got the family special which included three pounds of meat, tortillas, salsa, onions, and cilantro for $30!! Such a crazy value. Also, we got a large fry which was around $4 or $5 dollars. Mind you, this large fry was like a to go box from a typical restaurant FILLED with fries. Not the large fry container you would get from McDonalds or Chick Fil A. I was floored at the ridiculous amount of food we received. We made it home about 20 minutes later and the food was STILL HOT!! Like super hot. Like I had to jerk my trigger happy hand away from the tortilla foil hot. ANYWAY, when we finally set everything up and constructed our tacos, I WAS SPEECHLESS. Seriously, I figured these tacos would be good, but this was a whole new world of culinary excitement. The meat was PERFECTLY seasoned, the onions and cilantro were SO FRESH, the tortillas were also fresh and perfect and the green salsa was on point. The fries were crispy and had an awesome spice to them. Now in my head i'm thinking how in the world did we manage to finesse this 5 star dining experience for less than $40 dollars, FROM A GAS STATION!?!?! Only God knows. Needless to say, all of my anti gas station taco shop thoughts and beliefs are now fully rebuked. I apologize for ever being in doubt and I will not stray again, I AM A BELIEVER!!!! I think that's the end of my sermon. But yeah, long story short. This place is the truth, enjoy!!

Muy delicioso! Yes it's in a gas station, no I don't care.. these were amazing! Give them a try!

    Menu prices went up substantially...

Anybody else upset this place hiked prices by like 40% or so? I mean I used to love 2 grab a family pack, which was 3 lbs trompo meat, lots of tortillas, onion/cilantro, sautéed onions/serranos, limes and hot sauce for $30-35 a few months ago. Well, that will now be close to $60. I understand inflation has been terrible lately, and the deal before hand was an incredible deal, but to go up that much at once, that seems crazy to me. It would at least be appreciated to get a discount if you're buying 3 lbs of meat. My total for 2 lbs with taco fixings was $38.95, which again, this place is in a gas station and I think has lost its value to me now. If they bring back the family special or a discount for 3 lbs i will be back. The trompo taco meat is great don't get me wrong (rice and beans were meh when i had them long ago) but the price isn't worth it anymore.

This is the second time in 2 days that I've eaten at this place. This time I had my wife try it and she loved it we have found a knew place to get Mexican food, especially street tacos, they're to die for, thanks again for a job well done.

i think there are new owners because the quality of this taco shop has gone down and the prices have gone up. I have been coming here for years and my tacos have reached the point of inedible. As a purebred Mexican I love carne asada tacos. these steak tacos taste like the are using the lowest quality meat with zero marbling and the steak tastes like the are boiling it. There is zero seasoning and for the first time in my life i threw two of the three tacos away. Sad to say i will be stopping at the carniceria down the road now. this place has lost their love for a great street taco.

The food was good, although my order wasn't right. It was too late for me to go back by the time I realized. I'll definitely give them another try though.

Unfortunately both our meals were incredibly salty, and I say that as a salt lover. The salsa verde on my chicken and the chili con carne on his burrito were both too salty. The beans are a bit watered down as well. The menu is extensive here so I'm curious what the other meals are like- there definitely seems to be a fusion of two cuisines happening, which I actually very much appreciate. The staff is very kind! I'm all about customer service. As far as the setting, the music was a little too loud for me but it's a very causal vibe here and also plenty of tables and space, and lots of tv's. It was disappointing the draft beer wasn't working also. I might give this another try.

It's a bit of a trek from where we live, but worth the journey--plus, fun fact: they're building DFW's second Bojangles in the same strip mall. (Exciting times, people.) We hit up lunch, which seemed like a great deal. I had a fajita craving, so mixed chicken and steak it was, while hubby, a true Tex-Mex traditionalist, went for a chile relleno. But let's pause for a moment--why is finding real-deal Tex-Mex in DFW such a struggle? (I have questions.) Our waiter, Able, was warm, welcoming, and on it with drinks and a glorious chip trio featuring: A warm black bean dip (our fave) A fresh green salsa A smoky red salsa And then... my fajitas arrived, SIZZLING like they were trying to set off the fire alarm. Huge portion, served with all the fixings--rice, beans, tortillas (not house-made, but miles better than grocery store versions), sour cream, pico, lettuce, and cheese. I barely made a dent in 1/3 of it. Leftovers = tomorrow's best meal, confirmed. Can't wait to return and tackle their $7.99 enchilada plate on a Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday.
