Grilled shrimp tacos with shredded red cabbage, fresh cilantro & jalapeño-lime sauce

When you want to be somewhere tropical but you are working to the bone/ just can't make it happen...hey, Hula Hut has you covered!! Love this lakefront area and this is a great place to take a load off after a busy day out on the water. Get your grub on and kick back with a few beverages. The service was awesome and I loved my grilled shrimp tacos. I also tried a frozen margarita which hit the spot. Lots of your typical beverage options. They don't get real fancy but they do not need to, as this is just a place where you can chill out with your typical islander type food (with a Tex Mex kinda twist). It is bigger on the inside than I thought with a cool patio area. Love that it is overlooking the lake and you can watch the sunset while dining. I'll be back out here when it cools down a little bit more.

I came here for a friend's good-bye dinner and we came during happy hour. The drink / food specials were great price and great to eat/drink. Very tasty. we had mixed feelings about the drinks. I liked the mango margarita, my friend didn't care for it. But she LOVED the grass skirt drink :) I had the stuffed avocado and the tortilla soup. That stuffed avocado was the bomb. :) Highly recommended. :) Location is great and scenic. Right next to lewisville lake.

Came here last year during the summertime and I must say the atmosphere has a great getaway/ vacation feel for Little Elm. The reason I'm reducing two stars is because it was Tex Mex cuisine, the taste was okay and service, but mostly because it wasn't amazing enough to come back. I will give them those three stars for the effort of the decor. As well as the fact that they have a little window into the kitchen that shows the tortillas freshly made. Again, the food was not bad. But for all the Mexican food I've had in my lifetime - When you compare this one it wasn't as great as I expected it.

Hula Hut is a great spot in Little Elm. Located right off of the lake, it has a great patio with hatch covered umbrellas to take in a nice day. The interior of the restaurant is colorful and on the Hawaiian tiki Hut vibe. The original Hula Hut is located in Austin on the lake as well and have a similar feel. The last five or six times that I have been here it has been relatively uncrowded. Today I stopped by for a late lunch and sat at the bar and had a chopped salad. I subbed the jalapeno ranch for the vinaigrette it was offered with. Tasty. The bartender was friendly and had good follow up.

The tortilla clerk was quite attentive, she was aware that we were waiting to be serviced so she asked the waitstaff that our table was ready. Appreciated her attention to detail and seems like she has command over the kitchen.

Queso compuesto was good. Salsa is more of the pico salsa, chunky. Good still. They were out of shrimp quesadillas, so I settled for chicken. Chicken quesadillas were made with shredded chicken. And rough / dry. Bread of the tortilla put me in the mind of the texture of pita. Ate a couple bites and was done. My brother didn't like his either. Wouldn't return.

Honestly, I'd give this place a 3 1/2 star but rounding up because that's what I learned in elementary math. The house Luau sauce they put on everything really wasn't to our liking, but that's just a personal taste. Only 3 tortillas came with the beef fajita. The platter has many different items but we really only ate the ribs and chicken flautas. We were sat at a small table for 5 and it was difficult to eat without bumping each other and reaching over the food. Definitely a cool atmosphere and place to hang. Next time I'll try to order something that doesn't have the house luau sauce on it.

I am rewriting my review since I do not see it posted anymore. On April 30, 2024, We had dinner with 4 adults and 2 infants. Our server was Isabelle.we sat at table 20. I do not consider 4 adults and 2 babies a large party. Food was ok. Service was acceptable (except that the napkins were dirty). My biggest complaint is that they add an additional 20% in extra charges and fees when the bill is presented. To me, this is unprofessional and lacks transparency. if the Hula Hut needs to charge more, then raise your prices. Your tactic to ambush your customers at the very end with extra fees is an obvious attempt to deceive.

Love the Fried Avocado, outdoor seating, and the island themed atmosphere. Fun date night or family out.

The color was the only thing fun about this;) - would not repeat/recommend

Does anyone know if the patio is dog friendly?

I was there last month and someone had a 10-week-old puppy running around on the patio.

Unfortunately both our meals were incredibly salty, and I say that as a salt lover. The salsa verde on my chicken and the chili con carne on his burrito were both too salty. The beans are a bit watered down as well. The menu is extensive here so I'm curious what the other meals are like- there definitely seems to be a fusion of two cuisines happening, which I actually very much appreciate. The staff is very kind! I'm all about customer service. As far as the setting, the music was a little too loud for me but it's a very causal vibe here and also plenty of tables and space, and lots of tv's. It was disappointing the draft beer wasn't working also. I might give this another try.

I first heard about this spot from a BBQ server in Lewisville (food people know food, so I trust…read more'em). It's a bit of a trek from where we live, but worth the journey--plus, fun fact: they're building DFW's second Bojangles in the same strip mall. (Exciting times, people.) We hit up lunch, which seemed like a great deal. I had a fajita craving, so mixed chicken and steak it was, while hubby, a true Tex-Mex traditionalist, went for a chile relleno. But let's pause for a moment--why is finding real-deal Tex-Mex in DFW such a struggle? (I have questions.) Our waiter, Able, was warm, welcoming, and on it with drinks and a glorious chip trio featuring: A warm black bean dip (our fave) A fresh green salsa A smoky red salsa And then... my fajitas arrived, SIZZLING like they were trying to set off the fire alarm. Huge portion, served with all the fixings--rice, beans, tortillas (not house-made, but miles better than grocery store versions), sour cream, pico, lettuce, and cheese. I barely made a dent in 1/3 of it. Leftovers = tomorrow's best meal, confirmed. Can't wait to return and tackle their $7.99 enchilada plate on a Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday. Marking my calendar now. Bathrooms were clean. I would say the booths need to be recovered as some were duck-taped, and they were a little low for this shortie!

We ordered only pupusas, mixed with chicharron and cheese and although the size was generous the cheese was weird, like watery and it barely had chicharron.
