Good NY Syle Slice in East Memphis. Was looking for Pizza and stumbled in after a event in area. Service was fast.

These shakers let out soooo much cheese and red pepper! I get so annoyed when you can't get Parm cheese to come out of the shaker. Bravo!

This was one of my favorite places when it was on Union Ave. That spot is another place now named slice I think. I have been to the new spot a several times now and I have figured out all the moves I think. It's an order and pay at the counter kind of place. I normally come during lunchtime and seem to get the same cashier. She is friendly enough, but I always feel like she is about 50% engaged when I speak to her. Often I find her not even looking me in the eye when she speaks. Whatever. It's way different than when Gio greeted you at the old place. Things change, ya know... Dining room is a bit cramped, but I still dig it. I can maneuver and usually can find a table easily. I like the parm and red pepper shakers readily available, and the amount they dispense is epic. I do feel like the parm cheese is pretty low brow though. Almost seems "plastic like". Yuck. Food has been hit or miss for. I keep saying, "this is the last time" then it's fucking killer pizza on that same trip. Next time it's bad, ugh. I've learned how to order I think. No more calzones, the last time I could not eat it, it was so gross with cheese. I can now spot fresh pizza and stay away from the old slices on display. I think next time I'll order a whole Grandma's and see what that is about. '24 - 29/100

This was the worst experience I've ever experienced. The food took roughly 40-45 minutes for a pizza and chicken parm. The food was burnt and just over all a bad first experience

    Eggplant Rollatini
    Patricia M.

The eggplant rollatini at Little Italy East had some high points and low points. On the plus side, the salad was very fresh with the right proportions of greens, veggies, and their house Italian dressing, was flavorful and well-balanced. The rollatini filling of pesto and ricotta was also tasty, and the pasta was cooked to a perfect al dente texture. The red sauce, while simple, had that homemade taste. However, the eggplant itself left something to be desired. It was quite thin and the breading made it tough and lacking in tenderness. I get that it needs to hold its shape when rolled, but it was a bit too firm. The bread served with the meal was also disappointingly bland. Overall, it was a decent Italian meal and I'd come back to try their pizza, which looked very appetizing when I saw it at other tables. With just a little more attention to the eggplant preparation and bread(stick), this could be an excellent neighborhood Italian spot. But even with those small misses, the highlights like the salad, pesto-ricotta filling, and pasta did save the dish.

    Calzone with Italian sausage

I usually order the pizzas. Love their pizzas! Decided to try something different today. I had the calzone, not a fan! I'll stick with their pizza. If you love cheese you'll love the calzone. It's FILLED with cheese. Could have had a few more toppings to balance it out but all of the topping are extra.

My husband and I both got calzones and took them to go. They were really good, super cheesy, made fresh, and came quickly. The people working were very nice. I was sad to see that there weren't more customers! If we weren't from out of state, I would be back soon!

    Deluxe pizza

Yum yum - tasty!! Happened upon this place and popped in for Friday dinner. The place was busy but we were able to get a table when we walked in. It's a large and varied menu. I got the deluxe pizza. It was delicious with a wonderfully chewy crust. The place stayed busy with both people eating in and people picking up food to go. Bustling but not overly loud. Nice! The place was also exceptionally clean. The owner (?) was there working and cleaning the entire time. Everyone was pleasant. I changed up the deluxe and personalized it. They didn't get that part right. But I can overlook that. All in all, great experience in this small Italian place. Recommend.

Large Caesar salad with grilled chicken
    Mike A.

Popped in for a late-ish dinner around 8pm or so. Located in a strip of stores and restaurants off Poplar, this restaurant has a cozy interior with a couple of TVs on the walls showing a tennis match. You place your order at the register under a large menu. Luckily there was nobody behind us or they'd have had a wait as we puzzled out what we wanted. I'm sure they have been cussing us. We started with an order of 6 garlic knots. They were very tasty and came out HOT. 2 of our group got small pizzas, one cheese and one deluxe with no pepperoni and sub green olives for black. Well the pepperoni was held but the olives were held as well. Oops. The cheese came out right. The pizza was tasty and has a nice chewy crust. I had a large Caesar salad with grilled chicken. The garlic knots came out first, as would make sense. But the salad came out not long after we finished the garlic knots and the pizzas didn't come out for about another 12-15 minutes. Not a big deal, we weren't in a hurry and it's not like the salad would get cold (although the grilled chicken did) but it would be nice if the meals came together. Maybe they assumed we were sharing the salad and the pizzas as different courses. I dunno. Anyway it was all pretty good and I'd definitely eat here again. Edit to add: after writing this review and reading some of the previous reviews about customer service and eye rolling etc - i don't know for sure it was the owner, but someone who seemed like they may be an owner type / manager type was in attendance overseeing things, greeting customers, sweeping, bussing tables, just overall managerial type things. So it's possible they are addressing the aforementioned issues ‍

Went with my mother and sister while we were staying nearby attending a wedding party in Bartlett. Read about Catherine and Mary's online and decided to give it a shot based on pics and reviews. As soon as we stepped inside we were warmly greeted and made to feel at home. I must say here that my sister has a small disorder such that it's hard for her to talk in complete sentences, and she has a notable stutter. This means she also experiences a great deal of social anxiety. She felt so welcomed that she hardly stuttered while we were there, and when we left she said, "This was such a good place for people like me." I loved that they made me and my mom welcome, but am doubly grateful that you went out of your way to make my sister so happy. She really felt like you treated her like an old friend. My sister has a speech problem, but she's not mentally disabled (in fact she's an electrical engineer). So the kindness was not lost on her, and I know this will be a place we'll look forward to when we visit family in the Memphis area. Thank you so much for the excellent food and the awesome vibes! I was wearing my "mom clothes" and we had our toddler with us. Not once did I not feel welcomed though. Our waiter was super nice, very helpful with the menu options. I wish I had gotten his name (we actually dined over 3 months ago and I'm just getting to this review!). He seemed to have been busy, but never let it affect his performance. Now on to the food. My goodness, it was delicious and I have been craving to go back. First off, I appreciate that they are a kid friendly place. I understand not every place has to be, but when a place offers something for kids, it just makes the dining experience even better for me. They were out of the kids cheese pizza, but our waiter did a cheese flatbread for my son. I mean, that alone was good, but my entree was the best! I had the basil pesto tortellini. All the flavors came together perfectly in it. Highly recommend! My husband got the bbq chicken flatbread, one of the best flatbreads we've had. Seriously! As an appetizer, we got the baked spinach dip. It had so much flavor and pairing it with those house made tortilla chips were just the extra it needed. The only thing that was disappointing was the tiramisu. We have had better. The espresso flavor just wasn't enough for my liking. We'll be back for sure! Maybe a date night for dinner.

After leaving a nearby bar, our group stopped in simply looking for food. The restaurant was virtually empty, yet the manager, Charles, insisted that if any of us sat near one another, we would be considered one large party and could only have one check. I explained that we had no problem sitting at separate tables, and each table would gladly have a single check. That should have solved the issue. Instead, Charles instructed an inexperienced and unprofessional server to scatter us throughout the restaurant and warned that if we interacted between tables, we would still be treated as one party. From a management standpoint, this decision made no sense. Rather than maximizing an opportunity to generate significant revenue, leadership chose to create unnecessary obstacles. Ironically, spreading us throughout the restaurant would have required opening multiple sections, increasing the workload on servers and support staff instead of simplifying operations. Leadership sets the tone for a business. Good managers solve problems and create positive guest experiences. They don't create barriers that send paying customers elsewhere. At the end of the day, every business has one primary objective: to generate revenue while providing excellent customer service. Unfortunately, this experience demonstrated poor judgment, inflexible leadership, and a missed opportunity to earn the business of 24 guests who simply wanted a meal. I hope Curfew reevaluates this approach because customer service, common sense, and hospitality should always work together.

Moody lighting, low rumble of noise and music you enjoy but don't notice. My kinda place. Rye was our server and she was excellent. Not only top-notch recommendations but also let us know about the tasting menu- I can't wait to come back to try the off-menu one they do the last Wednesday of every month. We got raw oysters to start and chose the seasonal preparation. It was almost like frozen lemonade crème fresh, but with the brine of the oysters it just worked. Would def order again! We started with a whiskey sour and AM old fashioned. Both great but mine was so good my husband ordered another round of them for us before we got a bottle of red. I don't recall what bottle it was but it worked perfectly as it wasn't too heavy and swung easily from apps/pasta/entrees. Then we opted into the blind tasting menu. 5 courses, chosen from the menu that you don't know what you're getting until it touches the table. My husband and I are pretty adventurous as far as food goes so it was perfect for us. No shit- Everything was amazing. I loved the tasting menu as it was not any dishes we were considering and I am so glad we got to try things we wouldn't have otherwise. For example, the little asparagus appetizer was the best thing we ate, on God. Like, what in the actual F ! The kind of magic they created with those little green veggies was out of this world --I didn't even want to swallow it was that delicious. There was some kind of fish crudo with beet and kumquat relish. Weird and so good! We also had some pasta with a lemon-y butter sauce and spinach and then a chicken entree. I was getting so full by the time entrees came I ate less than half of it but the skin was crispy, chicken was cooked to perfection and husband finished them both. Now yall, the dessert was a heavenly little pot of rich chocolate with a caramel base and crunchy honeycomb crisp on top. I was so full I couldn't finish it but my husband finished his and then mine. We also ordered a little affogato and it was perfect to finish the meal. I will absolutely be back and look forward to trying their other restaurants in the near future!!!
