I had an absolutely awesome meal at Amerigo! First visit at this location. I made a reservation and waited only about five minutes before being seated. The Italian bread with herbs was delicious, and every appetizer we tried -- from the cheese fritters to the calamari -- was excellent. I chose the smoked chicken ravioli for my entrée, and it was truly delectable. We finished dinner with key lime pie for dessert, and it was mmm good. Overall, the meal was fabulous. My only complaint was the air-conditioning, which felt brutally cold at times. Thankfully it wasn't on continuously, but I couldn't help wondering -- why is the AC blasting on a cold January night? Dined here on a Wednesday evening around 6:30 PM with a party of 8. We only waited about 10 minutes to be seated at a large round table near the front, which was impressive for a group our size. Our waiter, Jason, was very attentive throughout the evening and made sure we had everything we needed. We started with drinks, and I ordered the blueberry tequila sour -- twice! They were very good. I ended the night with a French 75, which was also delicious. For appetizers, our table ordered a wide variety including cheese fritters, calamari, crab cakes, artichoke dip, and mussels. Most of the appetizers were enjoyable, especially the crab cakes, which were my personal favorite. The only disappointment was the calamari, which lacked flavor, had a rubbery texture, and even the marinara sauce was bland. After filling up on appetizers, I skipped an entrée and ordered another round of crab cakes instead. While they were excellent, they were served over a bed of pinto beans mixed with salad, which felt like an odd pairing. There are definitely better side options that could complement the dish. Overall, the food was about a 7/10, service was a solid 9/10 (though drinks took a little longer than expected), and the ambiance was pleasantly low-lit without feeling overly formal. We went this past Wednesday, we let them know it was our first time and everyone got excited and telling us their favorites. Kendrick was our server and he was great. He recommended some well known dishes and some modifications that he would do himself. The bread, the untraditional crab cake presentation, the fritters, everything was delicious and there is something for everyone. We will definitely be back soon to try their lunch specials. I have been here before, but I never had poor customer service as I did for this specific occasion celebrating my friend's move out of Memphis. In my opinion, we had the worst waiter. His customer service was trash. He was very rude and obnoxious, and he was not attentive to our group of about seven people. His attitude was not good at all, and the rude comments or "jokes" that he made was very inappropriate and unprofessional. So because of the experience that I had with him, I will not be returning back, which is unfortunate because the food is pretty good there. read more

Amerigo has quickly become one of my favorite Italian restaurants in Memphis. The atmosphere is warm, inviting, and perfect for a relaxed night out. I ordered the chicken ravioli, and it was absolutely delicious rich, flavorful, and cooked perfectly. The bread alone is worth the visit; it came out warm, soft, and honestly could've been a meal by itself. The menu has a great variety, but the dish I had really stood out and made the whole experience memorable. The service was friendly and attentive without feeling pushy. Tuesday's lunch was most delicious. I had the Chicken Acuto-my go to dish when I come to Amerigos. The chicken dish is light and so flavorful. The different ingredients complement the dish. A friend ordered the calamari appetizer and the artichoke dip. Both appetizers were fantastic. Always consistent and very tasty. The ambience is very sophisticated and sleek. The restaurant is inviting and cozy. I enjoy dining here a lot. Debbie, the hostess was so kind when I called for the reservation for our party of ten. Our server, Marcus was awesome! Service was mediocre at best. Gin and Tonics arrived w/o limes, so we had to request limes. My wife's order was incorrect, and she had to wait 15 minutes to receive her replacement. We rarely miss a week, it may be only 4 of us, most often 6 or more, or like today (5/20/26) we were 9, enjoying grandchildren who were out for the summer. This restaurant feels like home to us. The service, and the food , regardless of what we order, is always great. We were fortunate to have Scottie as our server today, he goes out of his way to provide extraordinary service. Had reservations for 8 people at 8pm on Fathers Day. Showed up and table wasn't ready until 8:10 /8:15. Our server (Lance) was kind and seemed pro but there were issues. First, I had asked for NO salt on the grilled salmon I ordered (medical reasons) but apparently the kitchen decided to go ahead and add salt (like a weeks worth of sodium). And my brother ordered salmon with his salad but the entire table could smell it was WAY OFF and he sent it back (ordered something else). And while our server was more than kind and pro and handled that, the biggest issue was that we were never told about last call from the bar. We were not told that the kitchen closed when we were ready to order dessert at 9:30pm. If you don't want customers past your closing time of 9pm, maybe don't take any reservations from 8pm on. Or....like other restaurants, stay open to take care of the customers you have. I've always liked this place, but after being treated poorly by the management and kitchen, I'm not sure we will patronize this establishment again. read more

This is my first visit at Amerigo and it did not disappoint. We were celebrating a birthday so it was a large group at 1:00pm on a Sunday. We were seated and our server Jessica did an amazing job! Orders were placed and service was great. All dishes came out together and the food looked good. I had blackened catfish, jalapeno mac & cheese with italian bacon and greens. The bread was amazing and oil was light with spicy kick but not overpowering. The mac & cheese had no hint of jalapeno and the spiral noodles was odd but the italian bacon was ham which was out of place to me. It made the dish salty. The catfish had a red vodka sauce that was not appetizing and unnecessary. It added nothing to the dish and not appealing to look at. The greens were sweet which is weird but otherwise good. The seafood pasta is a really good dish! I would definitely order that again. The Anold Palmer was the best. Overall really good. read more

Although I've eaten here many times, we even have our work Christmas lunch here this review is all about one of my favorite desserts of all time, The Pecan Butter Crunch Cake! The staff are always professional and polite, I've never had a bad experience here. The restaurant has a sophisticated feeling without being stuffy. After a long day of appointments I just wanted to pick up my dessert and go home to enjoy it. First of all there are components to this beautiful creation. The cake is a buttery decadent square with pecans. The sauce is a buttery apple concoction that's warm, so is the cake. Lastly the vanilla ice cream to pull it together. 4-8-26 We were there for dinner but we had two takeout orders. Ordered the Lasagna but it was slightly salty. The two takeout orders were Piccata Veal with pasta and sauce. They were for our two family members that were unable to attend the dinner dining in. The takeout orders were very disappointing. There were no consistency of both identical orders. The first one had too much sauce, two of three veal steaks were thick but third one was the bottom of the stack. It was thin, chewy and dry. The second one had little sauce, no taste and all three veal were thin dry and chewy. These dishes were expensive and the the kitchen team and management should be ashamed of themselves. Especially, the person who cooked the Piccata Veal should be fired for cooking these two identical dishes. We paid hard earned money for bad food. I would not recommend this place. read more

We started with an order of the Cheese Fritters, which were comprised of a fried blend of cheese on top of marinara on one side and honey mustard on the other. The blend of cheese was interesting -- I was expecting them to be more Italian-style (parmesan, mozzarella, etc.) but I found the cheddar to be the most prevalent. The breading was delicious and fried to a perfect crisp. However, I found the combination of marinara and honey mustard (and touching) to be strange. I would have preferred all marinara. For my entree, I ordered the Wild Mushroom Ravioli with a Spring Mix Salad. The salad was okay. The balsamic vinaigrette was a little too overpowering - the greens and sparse sprinkle of cherry tomatoes didn't stand much of a chance. I'd probably opt for another dressing next time. The Wild Mushroom Ravioli, however, was excellent. The mushrooms were plentiful and of high quality. The ravioli were cooked perfectly, and the parmesan sauce was creamy and decadent. The chili flakes added a subtle kick, and the spinach was a welcomed addition to the medley of flavors. I concluded my meal with the Tiramisu, which was one of the best I've had. It was more cake-like than others, which was fine by me. The vanilla cream and Kahlua chocolate elevated the dessert to another level. I'd definitely order it again. Overall, I was mostly pleased by my first meal at Amerigo. I would certainly return to explore more of the menu. read more

I went with a group for my birthday dinner and had a pretty bad experience especially considering it was my birthday which was really sad. We told the manager about our experience and I was surprised she never came back to check on us. It's probably been at least a decade since I've been to Amerigo's last, but decided on a whim to give it a go tonight. I don't recall being blown away by it in the past (hence why I haven't been in ages) but that changed tonight! Everything was amazing from the atmosphere to the service to the food! Our server, Chris, was an absolute delight. He made sure our bread was stocked and made some great suggestions. For an appetizer, we shared the grilled artichokes. They were AH-MAZING! For my meal, I got the Veal Piccata with a Spring Mix salad. It was perfectly cooked and the sauce was light and flavorful, though I wouldn't have hated had they thrown in a few more capers. I had a Lavender Lemon Martini that was delicious. For dessert, we split the Butter Pecan Crunch Cake three ways. Oh.Em.Gee. Was it ever good! Rich, buttery and warm, it was the perfect finish to a great night!
