For travelers going north or south on 95 who are looking for a nice sit down restaurant, this is the perfect stop. There's nothing special about the exterior or interior aesthetically, but it's clean, fast and the food is quite delicious! You could also call ahead for pick up. All the staff was masked, there was no wait, and there was only one other table dining in so social distancing was easy to accommodate. This isn't a place to "bring your friends" or "celebrate your birthday," but it will satisfy your hunger more than any fast food or gas station while during a day of driving!! If you're driving south on i95 take exit 33 to find it. It's a little tricky, but Apple Maps can guide you. I am giving it four starts because of its prime location off i95, low prices, kind dated, and quality ingredients. My dad got the mini calzone, but won't be fooled by the name-- it was huge! I don't eat cheese (preference not allergy), which makes eating at Italian restaurants a challenge, but I had the Italian sun without cheese and was pleasantly pleased. The bread was the right balance of crisp and softness. They have a surprisingly large menu with several lunch specials (min-fri). GET THE FRENCH FRIES!!!!! If we're on the road during the day and need a lunch break, we'd stop here again!

$13 chicken parm. I asked for GLUTEN FREE penne instead of their spaghetti. Flavor was good and had ton of mozzarella cheese. Yum! Get it!

Was driving up from Florida and stayed at the hotel next door. This area is full of NOTHING. But found this little gem and it satisfied my cravings. For some reason, it doesn't come up on the GPS or my map app. When you've been on the road for 8 hours, eating nothing but fast food, a real hot meal is a treat. Not knowing what's good or what's a miss, I stuck to chicken parm. Can't go wrong with chicken parm lol. Their alfredo sauces and clam sauces looked a little suspect... I wouldn't truly call this an Italian joint (I have grandmothers that are straight up from Naples) but for what it is, given this location, the locals and passerby's would have a satisfying visit. I was in desperate need of fresh salad in my system. Thank god, their Greek salad was nice, cold, and crisp. Loved that they added 4-5 pepperonchinis and heaping amount of feta cheese. Their vinaigrette was on point too. Their chicken parm was pretty good. Ton of mozzarella cheese, which is always good. I subbed out the spaghetti and asked for GLUTEN FREE penne and they complied with no hesitation! So awesome!! I've had worse chicken Parms in New Jersey so I can vouch for their flavor with this one. (Not sure about some other ones from the pictures though...) Only thing I was a little iffy about was the young boys in the back handling and cooking the food...They DID NOT WEAR MASKS OR GLOVES. Place seemed clean though, including their kitchen area. So don't say I didn't warn you. The girls in the front were super nice and professional. They kept their mask on. Definitely recommend this place!

Unfortunately, the chicken Parmesan hero tasted like soap. We were on a road trip and really hoped for a better outcome

The restaurants just do not do it. After calling several places closer to us, we eventually landed on Gerry's. It was difficult to find their menu online (much like the rest of Cape Charles). Gerry's is located right outside of the main drag of Cape Charles (I think) and the location is definitely easy to miss if you are driving at night. The building really sits on its own. Using the to-go window only (apparently they don't allow people inside right now) we picked up two sandwiches and a pizza. We were honestly just so thrilled to find a place in Cape Charles to get dinner that didn't require us to dine-in, especially after a super long car ride. I really enjoyed our shrimp pizza, which we ordered with white sauce. It comes with fresh mozzarella and garlic and is a really different type of pizza to order. We had it in the fridge for leftovers for days. It heated up surprisingly well. The gals working at Gerry's were nice and helpful and I think for the people that live here this is a solid local watering hole for pizza.

A place called Val's looked good from the reviews, but it was closed (on a Saturday?), we really didn't have many other choices in town so we figured we'd head to Cracker Barrel. Bad experience waiting in an almost empty restaurant, so we figured why not here? We've eaten here before, and liked it. I'm guessing they are under new ownership or something? Gone are the ladies we have seen before, and they do a robust take-out business, though you can still eat in and the service is just as fantastic. We weren't in the mood for pizza, so Italian entrees it was. First off, everything comes in take out containers now. It's not great for the environment, but I get it. In this economy it's tough for restaurants. If they can save some money not having a full time dishwasher, then so be it. We started with side salads - Hubby had the Ceasar, and it was good. Fresh ingredients and the dressing was pleasant. My side garden was the same - fresh, with plenty of cucumber, red onion and tomatoes. The blue cheese dressing surprised me, as it was filled with chunks of blue cheese. I'm sure they do t make it themselves, so I was not expecting that. Nice! Hubby had Manicotti and really enjoyed it. The sauce was balanced, not too sweet, plenty of ricotta stuffed inside and a ton of melted mozzarella on top. My baked spaghetti was the same. HUGE portions for a really reasonable price. And the garlic bread was so good! Crunchy on the outside and oh so soft on the inside. Lots of garlic butter, too. I almost purchased more to take back to the camper! All in all a nice experience. This is not a Michelin star place. As long as you keep your expectations realizing that, you'll enjoy it. It's a reasonably priced red sauce joint with a really nice staff. The next time we need to eat in Emporia, we'll be happy to stop here.
