Bread was extremely soggy due to the excess amount of oil and vinegar they piled on. The meat itself was fresh and tasty though. For a frosted brownie, and the entire crust if the brownie was so hard, I could barely eat it. The frosting was good though. The people working were friendly. The actual store itself could probably do with a little updating. read more

I remember twelve years ago when I wanted a cheap deli-style sandwich it had to be Little King. There was something about the hole-in-the-wall feel this Nebraska-based restaurant gave to patrons that made it stand out amongst a group national chain sandwich shops in the area. Whether it was because you could order a beer with your meal, smokers could light up inside the restaurant, or the meat slicers were covered in remnants of meats and cheeses, the atmosphere of Little King appeared dirty but the sandwiches were always delicious. Today, Little King has cleaned up its act, but not in a good way. The atmosphere has improved in that smoking is no longer allowed inside any Nebraska restaurant. They still cut their meats and cheeses right in front of you instead of using the prepackaged method of most national chains. And the meat slicers appear to pass every health inspection, but that is probably because fewer people are choosing to dine at Little King. Ever since I began going to Little King back in high school, I ordered the same thing: A King Club (12"), a side of Wisconsin Cheese Soup, and a big chocolate chip cookie. The sandwich was always so big I would have to take half of it home along with half of the chocolate chip cookie. Now, when I do happen to return to Little King in the future, I will still probably order a Club, but only the 6" variety and forget the soup and cookie all together. What went wrong? How did the quality of their sandwiches drop so much? I'm not blaming Little King entirely. When Subway launched their $5 Footlong campaign and Jimmy John's expanded freakishly fast into Omaha over the past few years, the little local chain probably had a hard time competing with the big national boys. This is probably why Little King is now charging $4 more for my meal than it use to. To counter this, they can try and cut their meats a little thicker. Recently, the portions of meat were sliced so thin Cosmo Kramer wouldn't be able to see them. Little King can also choose to throw away subpar food instead of pawning it off on its customers. The past few times I've been there, the soup tasted as if I got the last remnants of a pot that had been cooking all day. And if you want a cookie, go inside to order in lieu of the drive thru so you can inspect the batch for yourself. Otherwise, you might get a cookie that could be used as a door stop like I did. Kind of like that girlfriend you can't get over, I will always have a place in my heart for Little King by making-up excuses for infidelities, and giving third and fourth chances. But at some point I am going to be forced to move on. read more

I like the place. When I was a child my mom would take us the the Little King that was on 24th street and the sandwiches were huge !! Now getting one from this location just reminds me of those days. I always order the #11 Royal Treat,, dont think I ever tried anything else except for the french dip they had in the past ( dont know if they still do ) . I always order it the "little king way" which is simple but good. Staff is friendly and they get a kick out my son who "likes that other place better" . There is just something about how simple it is that I love. read more

It is unfortunate that when you order their soup, you get five spoonfuls for a cup and not much more than that for a bowl.

I am really done going to this Little King. Really since some of the other sandwich shops have come along I never even think of them, but I have family members who do and so I try to meet their needs and I am typically very unhappy when I do so. The staff who work their always seem new and there is a manager barking orders at them and then jumping in to do for them. There doesn't seem to be any real training that they staff do and it is very difficult to watch. While the veteran staff this last time was not really disrespectful, there was a real sense of dismissing the new staff and no training in place. If my family wants little king in the future - I will gladly try some of the others, but this was the last time I will be visiting this one. read more

this place is amazing. my order is always delicious and whenever i go in i never have a bad or stale experience, they make you feel welcome and are never mean ever. and of course they are better than subway and jimmy johns, this is the best sandwich shop in omaha nebraska and maybe all of nebraska. recommend this place 10000000% to anyone. read more

The food is good, don't get me wrong. I often pick up sandwiches on my way home from work and my family really enjoys them. Today, it was cold and rainy, so I thought I would order a bowl of Wisconsin Cheese to go with my Royal Treat. I was the only one in the drive thru and it was a little slow, but the guy working apologized and I really didn't think anything of it. I got home to discover the bowl of Wisconsin Cheese I was so looking forward to was not in the bag. I was pretty bummed so my husband said he would just call to get a refund,as we really didn't feel like going back. He called and very nicely said that he had some questions on our order. First we thought it was kind of strange that a turkey and cheese has to be ordered with extra cheese which made it $.25 less than a Royal Treat which is a much larger sandwich. The guy who answered was rude and my husband asked if there was a manager on duty he could talk to. Get this...the rude guy on the phone was the owner of this location. He told us we would need the receipt and we could come up and get the soup. My husband asked if we could just get it refunded to my card. The owner said no he wouldn't do that. My husband asked if he really wanted to lose customers over $3. The owner responded, yes he would rather lose business than do a refund. The story doesn't end here... Now my husband is angry, and rightfullly so. My husband is a disabled vet and does not have the easiest time getting around as it is. He decided instead of going in like a bull in a china shop, he would calmly go ask for the refund and not ruin the meals of the other people in the store. The owner did refund the $3; however, the entire time he was doing the refund he was telling my husband how no other resturant would refund money to a customer because the order was incomplete. He said if he did that all the time he would go out of business. So what I take from that is he could care less if he makes a customer happy with the service and the product as long as he is getting money in his pocket. I am very disappointed because I really did enjoy eating Little King, but I would rather starve than put one more penny in the terrible owners pocket. I feel bad for Little King, as they have sold it off as a franchise. People like this owner make a terrible name for all Little King resturants. If I could give 0 stars and still write a review I would. read more

Love their sandwiches...well love their Italian sandwiches. Their "Italian" and their "Royal Treat" are both very good. They are addicting! I did get a turkey sub from there and I wasn't impressed with it (I prefer Jimmy Johns for that one) They are located throughout Omaha, but I have only been to the one on Q and 144th. Both have been very fast with friendly service. Also, they have drive thru's. read more

Use to get Little King subs on a regular basis about 10 years ago. Back then, the subs were great high quality subs at a decent price. Had a groupon to Little King and went through the drive-thru for a Royal Treat recently. Eight dollars for a king size sandwich with about the same quality meats as Subway and they put it on over baked wheat bread when I asked for white. So disappointed. Meats were tough and chewy and they went cheap on the toppings. Will stick with Jimmy John's when I crave another sub. read more
