    Grilled Chicken Adobo
    Colleen D.

Caught Little Manila's food truck during my recent visit to my old stomping grounds. I remember being so excited to see Filipino food being offered in Cville during my time at UVA. So proud to see that they have now expanded and have a storefront at Dairy Market (located on Grady near the Irish Pub). The food is so yummy and they give decent portions as well! I ordered the grilled chicken adobo this time and couldn't even finish all the pancit because I was stuffed! Always happy to support Filipino small businesses - can't wait to try other dishes when I'm back on grounds.

Pork belly BBQ with rice and lumpia

Not quite like my mom's Filipino food, but reasonably priced at $20 for two tasty meals of decent portions. The pork belly BBQ was delicious - very fatty with a good balance of sweet and salty; this came with rice and a side of lumpia (6 pieces) - you can substitute rice for pancit for an extra charge if you'd like. The lumpia is the traditional lumpia shanghai version aka ground meat with vegetables - it was crunchy and not overly greasy and came with sweet chili dipping sauce. I was disappointed as other reviewers have noted about the pancit - it was not very seasoned and didn't have as many vegetables (cabbage, carrots, onions etc) that I expected. Overall, it definitely filled the craving for Filipino food!

What a delightful surprise! I was so excited to hear that Little Manila would be coming by MSC UVA, a staple in Cville (and a soon-to-be vendor at the Cville Dairy Market). The owner is friendly, the food is delicious, and the service is quick and efficient. Seeing this truck brings a smile to my face. I ordered pork belly bbq (woww!), which comes with a ton of lumpia (Filipino egg rolls) and a bundle of white rice. The bbq was soft and fatty, covered generously in sauce. So delicious... and the pancit is vegetarian, full of soft vegetables (carrots, cabbage, onion). You must go!

The best Filipino food in all of Charlottesville hands down! I actually don't know if there are any other businesses serving filipino food besides this one but Little Manila have been here for years and their friendly service and delicious food have been very consistent. Crunchy lumpia, flavorful pancit and an Asian fusion mix of adobo tacos with mango salsa are to die for! The picture shown below is from their new location at the dairy market called Manila Street and they are just as spectacular as their food truck!! Pro tip: at the dairy market I would arrive 1-2 hrs before they close because they serve kainan style (buffet style). The best food is gone 1-2 hrs before they close also because they are wiped clean out by hungry customers! Right now (7/2021) they close 9pm Sunday through Thursday and Friday Saturday 10pm. Get it while it's fresh and hot!! Another Pro Tip: at their dairy market location, check out their Instagram and Facebook page for weekly specials! Sometimes they have lechon kawali (MY FAVORITE) and fried Filipino Carioca (fried sweet rice balls) (ANOTHER FAVORITE) so be on the lookout!! @manilastreetcville

So bomb! This dish is the BBQ pork belly plate ($12). It's such a delight to eat. The meat is sweet and savory, with the perfect ratio of fat to tender pork. It comes with some delicious lumpia which is filled with veggies and fried to be crispy on the outside. You can replace the rice with pancit, which is a noodle dish. That is also delicious, but sticking to my Caribbean roots, I gotta have rice with my meal! I got this from the food truck, but this business is opening a location in the dairy market. Follow their insta for information on their daily whereabouts. 10/10 on the pork, I'll be back!

I was the last one they served that day

If you want Filipino food in Charlottesville, there's no better choice. I was commuting home on a Saturday evening when I spotted their food truck, on the corner of Long St. and Rt. 250. In an empty lot, amongst a pack of numerous other offerings from various other food trucks, the lettering read "LITTLE MANILA". I noticed the sheen of the gloss black paint covering the truck flicker from my view, sitting there at the adjacent stoplight, the sun beaming through my windshield as it was setting. Was this meant to be? Hmm... I thought, "well how bad could it be?" and proceeded to pull into the gravel parking lot behind the trucks. I believe they have been limited to just the mobile restaurant for a few months (due to COVID-19) and the friendly cashier that took my order remarked they were only serving 1-2 days per week currently, mainly on weekends. I ordered my chicken BBQ w/ rice and Pancit (out of lumpia ‍, I arrived quite late that day) and it took an entire 2 mins for the cook to prepare, and they sent me on my way. Feeling the weight of the bag they handed me, I realized that I had received a massive amount of food for the crisp $10 bill I exchanged the cashier earlier. I rejoiced immediately at my luck. Somehow I waited until I got home to devour it; the scent emanating from the package, endlessly tempting me during the ride. In hindsight, I was glad I waited until I got home (the food was still piping hot and just as good) because this was an utterly delightful experience. I got to savor and enjoy the flavors that were somewhat familiar, as I had eaten Filipino food prior to this, but none like this. This was delicious from the first bite of chicken, to the last bite of pancit w/ a bit of the red sauce. Outstanding. I was full and completely satisfied with the meal I got, and the folks preparing/serving it were lovely to encounter. 9 out of 10, not would, but WILL do it again. Support your local food businesses folks! Ps. I'll be back soon to try the lumpia for that extra point :)

The lumpia were very good! I just wish the noodles had more flavor, and instead of one giant serving, it would be nice if it came with another side that replaced some of the pancit.

    Chicken taco
    Mulan V.

$10 for 2 tacos filled with meat and some egg roll looking things, this is my first time eating Filipino food and it will be my last. I was expected something that was packed with flavor and spices but It was just unseasoned (as far as I can taste) chicken meat with a salsa on it (salsa was good) . Customer service was okay.

First time trying this little place!

Oh my goodness! Soooooo good!…read more My husband is Filipino and is from VA Beach so that's where I always get my Filipino food fix. We were heading to northern Virginia and someone told me about this spot and said they highly recommend, and they were RIGHT! So many options, so helpful and kind, and a really good deal. We got two entrees and two sides for about $16. We enjoyed this place a lot and will definitely be back!

As you walked in, they mostly catered take out but they also have two tables if you want to dine in. The menu is on the wall behind the counter but they also have paper menu too. There were 7 items: 1) Pork BBQ skewers 2) Dinuguan 3) Plantains 4) Lumpias 5) Waterloo Beverages 6) Combo One 7) Combo Two. Though the plantains didn't appear to be fried, they were still delicious. The skewers had two choice either chicken or pork, I chose pork and I think it was the best choice. That first bite was so tender, juicy, charred on the outside and very flavorful served with a sweet vinegar sauce with hot peppers. Though you only get 2 skewers for $7.99, they were worth it. Each items look scrumptious and they offer combo meals so it's whatever is to your liking. So with that said, the first combo with pancit, menudo, sauté vegetables (cabbage/carrots/scallions) and pork adobo. The second combo with adobo rice, white rice, ginataang manok, and chicken curry. Some of the items were a hit or miss and some of the items were lukewarm. Like the chicken curry and ginataang manok (chicken stewed in coconut milk and green papaya) since they were place in a 3 compartment to-go containers, the protein was kept out of the broth that made it dry. If they were served in the broth in a better container then the protein would have made it tender with better flavors. I wasn't able to choose between the two proteins so I chose 50/50 chicken and pork lumpias. These shanghai style were crispy and delicious. The dinuguan (pork blood stewed with baby mustard green and long green chilis) was filled with umami but a little liquidity than what I've tasted from other restaurants which were much thicker. They offer plenty of cold beverages but I try this one drink that just wasn't for me. I was excited that it read guava berries but I wasn't able to enjoy it lol. They were sparkling water flavored with zero sugar by Waterloo. Overall, the cashier named Sharon was friendly, patient and knowledgeable. The small establishment was clean, a mimi market filled with other Filipino items, serves halo halo for dessert and also offer catering. If you are ever in the area of Ruther Glen, come check them out.

The chicken adobo here is tender, fall-off-the-bone perfection, but the real star is the sauce. It's the most flavorful adobo sauce I've ever had--rich, garlicky, with just the right balance of soy sauce and vinegar, plus a slight sweetness that I absolutely loved. You'll be craving it long after your meal, and trust me, it will bring you back for more. But that's not all! We also tried their Shrimp Kalabasa, and it was just as incredible. The shrimp were plump and juicy, the kalabasa (pumpkin) was soft and naturally sweet, and the green beans added the perfect crunch. The sauce tied everything together beautifully, making every bite comforting and satisfying. Despite the humble appearance of this restaurant in the Food Court, the chef here is top-rate--every dish is packed with bold, authentic flavors that stand out. Service was warm and welcoming, making us feel right at home. Next time, I'm definitely trying their sisig--if it's anything like the dishes I had, I already know it's going to be amazing!
