The food here is excellent and has become my wife's and my favorite Mexican food in Holland. The service on the other hand is VERY hit or miss. The two waiters have been our best experience while the waitresses seem more interested in talking with each other rather than servicing their tables. It was so bad this time, we were seated and nobody came to take our drink or food order. I finally waived down a waiter to help us. I would think with food of this caliber, this restaurant would be packed all the time. But with service this inconsistent is likely holding them back. Hopefully the manager will see this and do some training. read more

We ordered the steak taco dinner, which came with rice and beans. Overall, the portions were generous, especially for the price, but there were a few things that could've been better. The steak tacos were decent in flavor but a bit greasy. One issue was that they layered the taco tortillas on top of the beans, which made them messy and harder to eat. The rice, on the other hand, was excellent--great flavor and cooked perfectly. A small heads-up, the plates are served very hot. While this keeps the food warm longer, it also made it hard to enjoy the meal right away without risking a burned hand or mouth. On a positive note, service was super quick--our food and drinks came out almost immediately. However, drink prices seemed a little steep compared to similar places. It's not a bad spot overall, but there are a few things they could tweak to make the experience better. read more

My local friends have recommended this place for a long time and I ordered take out recently and really enjoyed it! From the outside it seems pretty small but when I walked in, it was quite large with plenty of open seating and seems clean and decorated nicely. I walked to the counter and someone helped me right away and grabbed a menu for me to look at. They have SO much food it was a bit overwhelming but also exciting at the same time. I ordered two shrimp tacos, a cheese quesadilla, and horchata. The shrimp tacos were authentic with chopped onions and cilantro and hands down some of the best tacos I've had in a while. The cheese quesadilla was very delicious and perfectly melty. The horchata was in a huge cup and totally hit the spot! Love that drink so much. They also packed my food along with some complimentary tortilla chips and three types of salsa. Definitely way too kind of them:) This meal was all under $20 and very tasty. I will 100% come back for more takeout but would like to come again and sit down and enjoy something there someday. I started this journey slower than normal. I started out visiting the bar for a margarita. The Ultimate Margarita! Three tequilas, Cointreau and other stuff. NOT a frozen drink. On the rocks with salted rim. It was so delicious I had another. Had to. Guacamole, salsa, and chip are great too. Next weekend I dropped back in for another Ultimate Margarita. Exactly what I remembered, under the circumstances of my last visit. March 5 I went back for dinner. I ordered the flautas, one of each, shredded chicken, pork, and barbacoa. The platter came with rice, refried beans, and lettuce pico guac salad. 5 extra stars for this meal. Best flautas I can ever remember having. I didn't have any margaritas this visit . Service was kind and efficient and the establishment is very new, clean, and comfortable. This is a keeper. read more

We really enjoyed our dinner here. Great deal on the combo dinners. We enjoyed the al pastor and carne asada tacos. We have high expectations for beans and these were delicious. The carnitas were also so tasty - crispy and tender - really could tell they were made with love and attention. The red sauce on the enchiladas wasn't our favorite but there are other enchilada options I'd be up to try. And just come here for the art and decor - we felt like we were back in Mexico. This is absolutely not Tex-Mex food. It's just bad Mexican food. The guacamole tasted terrible and doesn't seem to be made with fresh avocados (tastes like avocado substitute). The quesadillas are a joke. How can you mess up a cheese quesadilla. & they couldn't even make 2 sunny side up eggs. Not to mention the lbs. of salt they used on their version of sunny side up (scrambled) eggs. I don't know how people are ratting them 5 stars. They must be related or getting paid. Similarly priced compared to a dinner portion at other restaurants. Good amount of meat but fairly bland overall. Once we ordered our food it came out before I could get through the drink menu (which also looked good with reasonable prices). I got the quesadilla loco which was delicious. Place seems to have just opened up. Pretty large space with plenty of seating. Food is clearly authentic. Traditional Mexican/Hispanic menu items as well as some American modified items for the less cavalier. Look, good and authentic Mexican food is a staple of the Holland experience. And everybody has their favorite place to go. And while you'll likely get into arguments with co-workers over which place is better, you should just know that Taquiera Arandas is in that top tier of Holland Mexican options. Very wide selection of meats and combo options. Very good portions and reasonably priced. There may be some shops that are cheaper around town but they aren't going to necessarily be better. I may not frequent Arandas because of the many options in Holland, but I will absolutely continue to share about how great my first experience was and I will definitely be back. read more

This is an excellent authentic Mexican restaurant in Holland, on Douglas and River. We just went for the first time. I had the Shrimp ceviche dish that was fresh, great portion size and delicious! My husband had the Chimichanga (chicken) and it was fabulous - perfect seasoning, the rice was exceptional and the toppings were fresh. We also had a couple of margaritas, which were good too. We met the manager, Francisco, who was happy we were there and so proud of the restaurant, sharing that they were going to add live music soon! I highly recommend this place!! This is a great place that seems relatively new. They have a wide selection of meats; we tried the carnitas on nachos and carne asada and tinga on tacos. All were very good, especially the tinga. I am consistently saddened that no one in Michigan seems to know about Tapatio but I can forgive this if a place has homemade salsa that's good. And the hot salsa here is SO GOOD. I kind of wish I'd tried the extra hot but I didn't see it until after I finished eating. The beans and rice were fine; I'd probably get three tacos for $5 deal on a Monday instead of adding rice and beans for an extra $1.99. I liked that I could choose between flour and corn tortillas. I tried one taco with flour and while it was good, the corn is better. Bear in mind that I am naturally biased against corn tacos and that's pretty high praise. Our family loves Mexican food!. We were in Holland for a swim meet and spotted this new restaurant on our way there. Leaving the meet hungry and tired, the food here sure hit the spot! The ordering process reminded me of Qdoba. We were the only people in the restaurant (about 3pm in the afternoon so I am unsure how busy it gets during peak times). We had our food in a few minutes and everything was fabulous (Qdoba can't compare to this!)! My husband had the 3 taco combo, trying 3 different meats (pork, chorizo and steak). He was very happy with all three and wants to come back soon. I had the chicken, steak and shrimp burrito with sautéed veggies- awesome as well!!! I was stuffed but ate it all! Our 11 year olds liked their kids meals as well, one taco and one enchilada (both got the ground beef taco meat) - no complaints. Both of them had left over refried beans and rice, so there was plenty of food for them. Highly recommend you try this out!! read more
