After living in Texas for many years I figured out the surest way to find good Mexican food was to eat where the native Spanish speakers went. Based on the clientele this place is legit. That being said I don't often eat their standard Mexican dishes. Azteca serves the best Gyro in Ottawa county. I'm sure part of that is a real dearth of quality Mediterranean/Greek food in the area but this is still a good Gyro. I still feel odd ordering a gyro in a Mexican restaurant but I usually stop in about once a month just for this dish. The other food I've tried is good but may be a bit too traditional for the average gringo. Very good, just not catering to the chips and salsa crowd that would be more at home going to On the Border. read more

The best tacos I've ever had. I'm not kidding. The steak was tender but had a little crisp to it and the tacos were just hot and goodt! Don't expect the best looking place but in my experience, that's where you usually find the best food. I wouldn't call it a dive, but it's right next to a grocery store. That's actually pretty cool if you need to pick up some groceries after you eat. I highly recommend this place if you like street tacos. If you have kids that prefer the hard shell corn tortillas or flour tortillas they can accommodate. My youngest only likes one or the other filled with ground beef and she was happy. The ground beef was a bit greasy though and the oil was running down her arm. Nevertheless, I'm glad to have found this spot because I can have street tacos and the kids can have tacos the way they like them as well. read more

My wife and I are very particular about our Mexican food and have traveled across the border to some of the best restaurants. Nothing compares to Taqueria Azteca. We have been eating there ever since they opened over 25 years ago. Their Mexican food is amazing and their service is excellent. If you're looking for an authentic Mexican meal without all the bells and whistles of a fancy restaurant--this is it. The prices are very reasonable. We highly recommend them! read more

Chicken tacos tasted good. Very casual atmosphere with a small Mexican grocery store attached. I was never served silverware (I even asked for some and they never came), so I could not eat my beans and rice. My beverage that came with my lunch special didn't arrive at the table until the end of the meal (which I also had to ask for). We did come with a group and it was busy, but I feel if I have to ask for something basic and it still doesn't come, there's an issue. read more

Really good more authentic Mexican food than any others I have had in Holland. It is in the same building as the Mexican market. It smells like you are in your grandma's kitchen and it is so good. There are tables everywhere that are seat yourself, they will come take your order and then you go up to the counter to pay. The salsa comes in squeeze containers, the green is spicy and the red is not. I prefer to mix them but both have a really good flavor. I ordered their lunch special #3 and it's two chicken enchiladas (you can choose the meat) with rice and beans. The beans had a good flavor and so did the rice. I really liked the seasoning of the chicken in the enchilada and the sauce was pretty good. It was a good portion size as well for lunch. The people I was with ordered the steak tacos and a burrito. Both were very good. I recommend coming here if you are in the Holland area. read more

I ordered food thru Grubhub and they did not give me any tortillas... when I called to let them know, the lady who answered the phone told me I never chose flour or corn tortillas. I said there was no option and she basically called me a liar after going around and around for a bit she handed me off to a gentleman. I told him the same thing and he did not believe me until he actually looked it up himself on the app. He never apologized and stated he would give me in-store credit. Like I'm ever going to order from them again! Thankfully after one pill to GrubHub I'm getting my money back. Do not recommend! You don't call paying customers liars!!! read more

So far, this is the best Mexican restaurant in Holland in our recent survey. We have been there for dinner and lunch, and enjoyed both immensely. Try the chicken soup for lunch - it is fabulous and big enough for two. Their margaritas are also fantastic, especially since they are not sweet and air on the side of tartness, which we love. We intend to go back again and again to explore the menu. And oh by the way, the service was excellent. read more

After going on a massive taco binge throughout 2014-2015, I found myself back in my home town seeking some awesome tacos. My brother informed me that Azteca was legit. I had my reservations since I've tried numerous taco joints at this point, but 50% Holland's population is latino so for all I knew, maybe a Vegas "5" star taco is a Holland "3" star taco? I had many tacos, al pastor, Asada & chicken. And my god, they were some of the best taco's I've had. Full of meat, they don't skimp on toppings. Prices were more than reasonable. I generally don't care about service unless it's completely awful, but everything was fine when I went. Food quality = 5 stars I hope this place stays around, don't ruin a good thing! read more

Dinners come with great homemade tortilla chips and they offer multiple hot sauces. Can Coke products to drink. Excellent food. Ok service. I had shrimp fajitas and it was well balanced spice, perfectly grilled shrimp, and a bunch of fresh vegetables. Some of the shrimp tails were removed, some remained. The salsas spices had A LOT of heat. The cheese sauce available is yellow nacho cheese and not white queso. I recommend this place and will be back the next time I am in town. read more

We stopped here for tacos before the beach and were not disappointed. The service was fast, the restaurant clean, and easy to find seats. Very fair prices. I really like the El Pastor tacos and a bowl of the freshly made guacamole! The restaurant is pretty packed busy during lunchtime but it does not seem to affect how fast the service is. This is the best place to get tacos in Holland! This has been my favorite place to get tacos from for the last ten or so years. They're cheap, delicious, and all their other food is really great too! Great al pastor tacos, which is the benchmark for any good taco joint, as well as crispy, non-oily flautas, and a kid's quesadilla that was amply stuffed and not an afterthought. Horchata on the sweet side, but all around great food. Good service, too, from a polite young lady who capably recommended a few dishes. Only negative is the shabbiness of the interior. This is, hands down, the best Mexican food you can find in West Michigan. No wonder its always busy at lunch! I have been eating here since they opened, and there isn't another Mexican restaurant in the area I'd pick over Taqueria Azteca. If I'm dining in, I never leave without a bag of their homemade chips and a large container of their guacamole - amazing. Their pico de gallo is always fresh and they have the class salsa verde and salsa rojo combo with their meals - make sure to ask which is hotter (red or green) if you're someone with a mild palet because it varies from day to day. Steak fajita plate is amazing, and the enchiladas verde is the hottest thing on the menu for the bold and adventurous . Stopped here after beach, sat down, busser finished cleaning all his tables then came ans ask us for drink order and gave up menus, he never came back, he took cash from several customers at register, fixed register, wandered aimlessly in dining area with a glass of ice water and straw like he knew he had something to do nut he didnt know what.
