What a wonderful shop! I stumbled into Ted's as I was getting my car washed next door. The storefront is small and inconspicuous but what lies beyond is a melange of Eastern European delights. I don't know what half of this stuff is but the shop owner was super helpful with recommendations and explanations. Great beer selection, meats, spice blends, preserves and fermented foods. Great selection of polish & European food items, we were like kids in a candy store! We bought sausages, polish beer, four bags of egg noodles in various shapes, soups, spices and appetizers. This place is terrific! The storefront isn't very large and it's somewhat hidden by the awesome bar nextdoor, so I had no idea it was an entire little shop inside. They have a great selection of meats and the owner, Jacob, found two hard salamis that were right up my alley (a German one and a Ukraine one, I think). Both were great! Also bought some jam, soup spices, marinated mushrooms (I love all things pickled!), and my fave item was the pink salmon caviar. Lots of sweets and other goodies too. Customer service is just as wonderful as their selection of European products. read more

** Update 7/18/17 The items I purchased were old and passed the expiration date. Had to throw out the items I bought, they were not cheap. ** I've been eyeing down this place for two years but never went in. Today was the day, I gave it a shot. What really got me is the sign that says it's a delicatessen that also offers wine and beer lol. Oh, and sausage, gotta love a good sausage. Try parking next door or near the bar/taco place if you're going running in and out quickly. This is a tiny plaza near the donut shot, travel agent and barber shop. You can try parking in their lot which is shared with all those businesses. The stores appearance is very neat, clean and organized. I was greeted shortly by Jacob and told him how it was my first time in the store. He was nice and answered all my questions. I made some inquiries about vegan/vegetarian items for my family. I do not eat beef or pork so I inquired about turkey and chicken sausages. I got to sample the chicken sausage and it was good. This is a polish deli that offers authentic breads, meats, sauces and the list is endless. I especially love the European cookies (I usually travel to Safeway to get them and for me it is a bit much). I prefer staying close to home and supporting small businesses as much as I can. I wanted to get some fresh deli meat but Jacob said they have an order coming in tonight and it will be ready Sunday morning. The meats come from New Jersey, so I am for sure coming back. I will also get some cheese, the gouda looked amazing. I purchased some biscuits and snacks for tea. I will be happily coming back here. read more

I pretty much bought all the different types of pate they had, several types of sausages, gherkins, fish, and much more. The owner Ted is a RIOT and a really great guy to just have a chat with. I believe Ted is from Poland, but wherever he's from, he's got such a great demeanor about him that you'll immediately fall in love with him and his shop. Now obviously being Asian I stick out like a sore thumb in this shop, but don't matter, I"m there to explore products and foods that I've gotten a little hint of over my lifetime. A good friend of mine in grammar through high school was Hungarian and his mom and dad used to make these bomb sandwiches that make American deli sandwiches look anemic. They used to stick in like whole slices of butter, meats, wursts of all kinds, cheeses, etc with no mayo and other sauces or spreads. It was all about meat and dairy. Man, those were the days. But having found this store and it being conveniently across from Bladez barber shop where I get my haircut makes this such a plus. Ted's shop has such an amazing selection (at least to me) of all kinds of meats, cheeses, breads, pastries, liquor, etc. For a novice European delicatessen guy like me, this is heaven. I bought some German style pork and smoked bacon, and black bread the first time I visited and made my wife a sandwich---she was in love! We still have some left over, so time to make more sandwiches after I picked up some more bread. This shop reminds me of a smaller shop I used to infrequently go to called Alpine Village in Glendale (down in LA). So if you've been there, you'll definitely like Ted's. read more

Finally got down to Mala Polska (Little Poland). Live about 2 hours away. But there's no place like Jakub's place of Polish delights! Was yearning for Polish sausages, ham, herring, beer, pierogi and other items. Got them! Want and need more! Owner was very friendly, accommodating, informative and knowledgeable. Very impressed by their double smoked kielbasa! So flavorful and fresh, never tried this kind in other European/east European stores. Very wide selection of picked goodies which my family and I love, any kind of herbs and dried spices and sauces. Also have to point out the outstanding customer service, gentleman at the register was very polite and attentive, asked if we had any questions and wether we needed assistance or not. Looking for a good place to buy smoked sausages and stopped here as the store was highly rated on Yelp and Google. For being a fairly small store it has a great variety of Eastern European products. The wall of imported beers and wine was really neat and we grabbed a bunch of bottles to try. There are plenty of fresh and frozen options in the refrigerated/freezer section, especially if you're looking for sausages or caviar or pate. The owner, Jacob, was very friendly and polite. We walked away with some smoked sausages, a pickling spice mix that has directions on it I'll need to use Google Translate for (Polish maybe?), frozen pierogies and pyzy, and plenty of beers to try! I have no idea what to do in this place, but I have a good time, every time. I frequent the busy car wash next door and find myself unwilling to sit still with the other knuckleheads while my car runs through the wash as this can take some time on the weekends. Hence, one day, I wandered over to be overwhelmed by a wall of meat products looking delectable in every which way. I really wanted some sort of tour guide to lead me through the sausage paradise, but, alas, I found myself picking a little of this and that. No head cheese, thanks. I had a Polish roommate in college who would make meat innard jello that would jiggle disgustingly in the refrigerator and I really can't believe people eat this. Then again, I chow down on Chiccharron and Tripe and trotter soup (Menudo) so I really can't judge. The Nuremburg sausage looked really good, but, eh, I got overwhelmed by the political significance, so need to come back another time for that. Anyway, I vow to come buy a different sausage product every time I get the car washed. Fun stuff! Have also found some killer Spaetzle, which is one of the most awesome products ever - a home made noodle that you boil, then you saute in butter until it is a little browned in butter. TO DIE FOR. Ted's Delikatessen is a great place to find Polish and German import food. Easy to find off of I-680, a few blocks east on Monument Blvd. There is parking in a small shopping center, and I was lucky and got one of the spots next to the front door. As we walked in, Ted was behind the deli counter, and greeted us. I haven't been here in a few years since the previous ownership, and noticed right away that there is a less cluttered look, with better quality items. Baked goods, candies, condiments, canned and other staple foods are neatly organized on the left side, while fresh and frozen meats and cheeses and other perishables are on the right. Imported beer and wine from all over central and eastern Europe is in the back. While looking at some of the refrigerated items, Ted reminded us to keep the doors open as briefly as possible, as it costs two thousand dollars per month just to keep the stuff fresh, and business is down, so every little bit helps. He was worried he might have to close if things don't pick up. I hope this exceptional deli can endure. read more

Don't let the front of the place dissuade you from entering. Ted's Deli has a lot of interesting meats, canned goods, some liqueur, candy, and a variety of goods I've not seen elsewhere in the area. A majority of the European delis in the area primarily cater to the Eastern European foods/menus. While those can be quite enjoyable, nothing takes the place of finding true German foods for a German girl, it's comfort food, really. Sooo happy that this place carries a wide variety of German items. I'm now able to eat so many foods from my childhood. My father is not able to get around like he used to, so I take items to him. However, when he is able to make it in, he appreciates the friendliness and good customer service shown by Jakub. The store is also much nicer since I first visited when I moved to California in 2005 (I think different owners). Highly recommend. read more
