A majority of the European delis in the area primarily cater to the Eastern European foods/menus. While those can be quite enjoyable, nothing takes the place of finding true German foods for a German girl, it's comfort food, really. Sooo happy that this place carries a wide variety of German items. I'm now able to eat so many foods from my childhood. My father is not able to get around like he used to, so I take items to him. However, when he is able to make it in, he appreciates the friendliness and good customer service shown by Jakub. Well, I really, REALLY like Seakor's in the City, but the sausages here are spiced even better. The spicy pickles from Poland were about the equal of the zesty pickles at Paulie's Pickling, and that is high praise. The Kabanossi and kielbasa were not only wonderful, but many different types are offered. We were given a taste of all that we wanted by the kind clerk. As in all imported foodstuff stores, one has to perhaps take care in ascertaining the expiration date, but please do note that many European countries just stamp the date of manufacture. Amazing service! My grandmother is from Poland and wanted perogies and mushroom soup for Christmas dinner. My babcia sent us right to Ted's and gave us a list of things. We called her on my phone so she could speak to the worker. He was extremely helpful and found everything we needed ! At the end he even told us we could have a free pack of dried mushrooms (originally $30). We gave him a $20 while he wished us a Merry Christmas out the door. This probably my favorite polish food deli in California! I can't get enough of their authentic sausages, breads, and pickled everything! I would send all my friends here. The owner is from the old country and is the most pleasant, honest and genuine person I have met in the area. When I need that perfect dried sausage to snack on or wedding sausage to fry up for breakfast I come here. He also carries a wonderful line of old country alcohol. There is another store in Walnut Creek and San Ramon that I go to when I need some ingredients this store doesn't have. Also they are closed on Sun and Mon. So plan accordingly. Found this gem purely by accident and boy am I glad that I did. I love meandering around and pretending I'm back in Germany. So many yummy treats, from meats to candies and mustards to beer and beer and more beer. Purely by coincidence I have a client with a Hungarian mother in law who requested a few creature comforts for her stay this past holiday. I could have shopped in SF but figured I'd give this place a try. With list in hand I showed the very kind store owner (I in no way was going to try to pronounce these items) what I wanted, he had most of it and what he didn't have he had great suggestions for similar items. This place has a lot of delicious European imports. I purchased a whole Kassel brand (Karl Ehmer) salami. It is excellent. Lots of sausage here. The owner is very friendly and even gave me a gift on the way out. I recommend coming here and checking it out. read more

Great little shop! Nice owner! Says he's been here now for 4 years and speaks great English. This place has all the chocolates, sausages, deli meats, and yummy bacon that you look for when shopping for Polish food. Plus an impressive array of dry foods, sauces, condiments, Polish/German/Hungarian stuff, and, of course, beer. Lots and lots of great Polish beer. Look in the coolers for fresh handmade sauerkraut and take a peek at the candy bins in the back area to get your chocolate covered plums and honey candy fix. LARGE variety of dried sausages but everything is packed in that butcher shop shrink plastic for freshness so you gotta be brave. I brought a ton of dried sausage home for my son who is half Polish, and he LOVED it. Took it to his Polish dad's house and now I am in trouble because I didn't tell him about this place before now. Bottom line? We'll be back. Yes, parking is tight, and it's in one of the poorer parts of Concord. Nothing too rough, but some people won't like that . Consider yourself warned. read more

Discovered this gem of a European Deli a few months ago and have gone back several times with a great experience each time! The service by the owner/manager is excellent and the fresh sausages are equally so. They have a good selection of jams, mustard, breads, beers, pickled veggies, cookies, chocolates, baking items and etc! All the things I used to have to go to San Francisco for. Stopped by here because Babushka's in Walnut Creek was out of Borscht and I had a craving for some and was lucky enough to find this polish deli. Ted's was easy to find and there was plenty of parking. I walked in and was immediately greeted and helped by the staff/owner working there. He directed me toward the polish soup. I then walked around and saw so many varieties of different fish, polish sausages and pierogi. We went in not expecting a lot. But there was a lot! I was looking for mainly German food and found some I was looking for and some I was not, nice surprise. It is a small store with mostly Polish goods, but that's okay, too. The gentleman behind the counter was very nice and friendly. When he found it was our first time there and had come from Livermore, he sent us home with a couple of complimentary sausages. And I have to say those were quite good! We bought some beer, too, and those were really good. They may not carry all I was looking for, but it was nice to find this place and we will be back! read more

I am Polish and I have been living in Contra Costa area for 23 years. I miss Polish food, but thanks to Ted' s Delicatessen, I get what I love. Food is always great and fresh, like ham and cheeses. I am a big fan of Friday only walnut bread! I usually make a trip to the store once a week! I buy dumplings, all kinds, with potato and cheese or plum. Ted is very nice and helpful! He always let me try something I am not sure about. He is kind and polite and has always something funny to say(Polish jokes, you know).There is a big selection of things, including Polish beer, which my husband loves, even being American. I went looking for a special type of beer that I could only find online, they didn't have it, but I spoke with the owner or employee and he said he'd contact me if he could get it.
