We walked by this place and were looking at the rates and a woman came out asking us what we were interested in. I was really interested in getting my shoulders massaged for 20 mins, so she said they could take us now so we walked in. They give you the massage first and you pay afterwards, just FYI. We walked into the back room and were asked to take off our shoes and lay face down on a bed. The bed was slightly indented in the middle so it wasn't as comfortable as some other places I've been. They put a towel over me, and they gave me a full body massage. I don't know where we crossed our wires, but I wasn't about to make a fuss in a quiet room with other people getting their massages at the same time as us. The woman who helped me was pretty gentle - Every time there was a knot she stopped and moved to a different part. I told her it was fine if she kept working on it, but she wasn't listening. The majority of the massage was just okay; I wish they would have listened to what I wanted to begin with, but I understand that I only paid for 20 mins. If I wanted something more in-depth I'd have to pay more and add more time. The lady really went for it with my scalp though; That felt really good. My husband and I were on our way to Paso Robles for a wedding. We left a day early from the OC to spend the day in Solvang. I haven't been to Solvang in about 22 years. As my husband and I strolled the streets of Solvang, it seemed to look different - in a positive way. My husband and I had lunch at the Belgian Cafe. While we were eating our lunch, we noticed the Little Rainbow Foot Spa next door. So after lunch I told my husband we were going in there for a short foot rub and he agreed. We approached the door and asked if they were able to accommodate both my husband and I for a 30-minute foot massage. They said yes! Somehow something got lost in translation. Anyhow, I thought I was being asked to pay upfront before our service which I didn't have a problem with. Then I realized the therapist was selling us two "gift certificates" for two foot massages for later use. I told her that we wanted foot massages right now if they had therapists available. A little embarrassed, she showed us to the open massage room where there were several massage beds. They started with a foot soak in warm/hot water. We both had nice massages. They ended our massages with a little bit of stretching which felt great. My husband and I both agreed that it was a little too loud in the massage room. When you're trying to relax and unwind, soothing music is all I want to hear. But the music was a little too loud and so were a few customers who came in after us. The other complaint that I have is that I am not crazy about the chopping/"slapping" techniques. Again, I am trying to relax and enjoy the massage. The chopping/"slapping" is usually startling (imo) and is like a rude awakening. But, I will have to say, when my husband and I walked out and started walking around the town, our feet felt rejuvenated! I would rate the massage itself as good. I grabbed a flyer for 1-hour foot massage that said $20 from 10am-1pm (from in front of the shop when walking by with my family around 9am). After my husband and I got our son down for his nap, I rushed over and arrived at 12:15pm, thinking that as long as we started by 1pm, I would qualify...or at the very least, I could do 45 minutes. The man inside seemed flustered and pointed to the clock. I asked if I was too late. He didn't answer, but he ushered me into the back room. In the back two or three ladies -- who had massage guests lying on beds -- seemed to chastise him (I couldn't understand the language they were speaking) and seemed very annoyed with me. I stood there awkwardly, not understanding. The man invited me to lie down, covered me with a blanket, and put a towel over my eyes. He left, came back, kept talking with the ladies, and finally tapped on my shoulder. I sat up, and he played a message using a translator app saying that the special offer was not valid but the regular price for 1 hour was $45. I spoke into the translator app saying, "I am sorry I was too late. I thought that if I arrived by 1pm it would qualify. How about we just go 45 minutes until 1pm for the $20. I lose out 15 minutes for being too late?" He said, through the translator app, something about that was impossible and the special has long been changed or discontinued, or something. It wasn't clear. I'm still not sure. (But I **had** gotten the flyer from in front of the shop that very morning). After a bit more awkward back and forth with the app, and the ladies still talking at him disapprovingly, I finally said, "I am so sorry. I didn't mean to be a bother. I don't feel comfortable, I'll just go." I left, awkwardly. As a business owner myself, I really don't understand their making me feel so unwelcome. If the man had explained things up front when I first got there, I would have paid full price. Instead, I just felt like a imposition. Even if we agreed on terms and a price, I didn't feel welcome after all that back and forth with the ladies and the translator app and the lying down with a towel on my eyes and then back up. When I was in Solvang this past week, I went to the Rainbow Spa to get a 30-minute body massage. The woman who was massaging me didn't give me a full 30 minutes but stopped at 29 minutes. I was exhausted and had an injured leg so was too tired to bring it up. Thinking maybe it was just a mistake. The massage was excellent though. The next day when I came to get another massage because I was still in great pain, this massage therapist who didn't speak English as well, stopped the massage at 29 minutes as well. I wasn't going to put up with this crap so I said kindly to her to please massage me until it was 30 minutes. She actually massaged me for for about 3 minutes. As a result I gave her a better tip than I normally would because she did a little bit longer. After I tipped her she didn't even say thank you and she looked at what I tipped her and just said "Bye." I thought maybe it was a language barrier problem but I'm sure they know the word thank you! Plus when I looked at the other Yelp reviews I saw that they have a tendency to balk at the tip that they receive. No matter if I gave over the amount that was necessary. Very rude! I always come here when I'm in Solvang but the salt scrub is new to me. I'm so happy that it was added to the treatment menu. I was greeted by the lovely woman at the front desk and then assisted by her and 4 colleagues to a position on one of the pithy American ("me, friend") beach towels on the massage tables. I chalked the Americana up to pandering to unimaginative or narrow minded patrons, and although in this setting I would prefer something more aligned with Chinese culture, it no longer mattered once I was getting pummeled into submission. This place used to be my go-to foot massage in Solvang. Sadly, it is not anymore. I asked for a 60 min combo massage for $50. After the massage I was charged an additional $10 for a foot scrub that I didn't ask for. They claimed that they asked prior to the start of the massage, but they didn't. I would have declined the scrub had I been asked. Also, one of the massagers complained to my friend's face about her tip and asked for more money and suggested that she could put her tip on her card if she didn't have enough cash. I've never felt so stressed in a reflexology place until now. tl;dr I don't recommend this place. The workers are sleazy. They haggle you for tips. Disrespectful attitude from the workers (I say all the workers because no one intervened the disrespect in the public area). As I'm laying on my back looking up at her, she carried a very condescending demeanor. We already verified multiple times with the front clerk, a young man, that we wanted a combo 75 minute massage. This lady after getting my attention, leaned against the wall and said with arms crossed, "You want 75 minute massage? You pay?" She began to speak to me in her native language. I couldn't understand her. I asked if she wanted me to pay now. She just laughed and asked if I wanted a combo. I sat up from my session and explained to her what we both wanted. She took a deep breath , rolled her eyes, and continued her session with my guest. I had no understanding why we were being treated with such disrespect. I could not find relaxation in my massage session. It was not therapeutic. It wasn't until later that the lady revealed that she assumed I was of Chinese ethnicity. I'm Filipino. She assumed I understood what she was saying to me but she caught herself and tried to hustle me for more tips. They are sleazy and I do not recommend this massage place. There's a big screen that you can see in the public massage area of the front door. I was situated nearest that front door and I could see and hear all the haggling they did with the other customers.
