They carry Hershey's and South Mountain Creamery and the service was very friendly. It is a little tight in there so if they get busy don't expect to have many seating options. Happened up on this place while on a fall Adventure with a friend. I was going to get a home made waffle cone, but they were out so I opted for a peanut butter milkshake which was delicious. They have an interesting lunch menu so we will likely come back to try it & hopefully get a homemade waffle cone. There was a steady line of customers on this warm fall Saturday, but the line to order moved quickly and orders were filled effectively, we were able To grab a table on the patio and sit and enjoy our treats and the beautiful day. read more

Stoped in for a quick treat after a hike and this place hit the spot. Definitely recommend this place and I know I'll be back. I could not decide on which flavor to try because I only wanted one scoop and the lady let me split my one scoop with two flavors which was perfect and amazing. I went with the coconut joy and the cappuccino crunch and they were both just so good and smooth and creamy. Also tried the chicken salad sandwich and it was just perfect. This place has lots of parking and seating both inside and outside. Outside seating were mostly picnic tables, but they're also spread out around the property so you don't have to sit right next to anybody else if you don't want to, and that was just fantastic. The staff were super friendly and lots to choose from on the menu so I will definitely be back again to try some of their other flavors. read more

I ate the ice cream first. This ice cream is what dreams are made of. Such a great variety from soft serve to the famous Hershey's brand, and a local hand dipped selection. I tried a few of each, for the review of course. The Banana Moose Tracks and Almond Joy (coconut ice cream a chocolate clusters) were deliciously creative flavors, and I would come back for both, time and time again. I couldn't decide so the little lady in the barn said they could split my small into two different flavors- I went with a refreshing orange pineapple (with pieces of pineapple) that was like a creamy sorbet and the other was the Banana Moose Tracks (banana ice cream with chocolate fudge swirls and peanut butter flecks )- love at first bite - it tasted like my childhood (reminded me of an elevated Jello pudding pop from back in the day). Portions- I almost couldn't finish the small. Generous...to say the least. I rounded my dinner with a chicken salad sandwich. They have quite the selection of sandwiches and salads (see menu pic). The only thing I regretted about this visit was offering to share my sandwich with my bestie! Plenty of parking and a handful of outdoor tables and chairs. BLT sandwich tasted fresh, hubby loved the corned beef in Red Barn Reuben, potato soup good, chili not the best, coffee milkshake heaven, ordered coffee to taste locally roasted beans - great cup! Memu items were affordable! Ordered ice cream of course, all were good! We went on a rainy day and there were a good number of customers so this place looks like they get busy on a usually nice weather weekend! More parking at the back, saw a picnic table there too. They could do better with order placement and calling. All orders for that day were taken outside, but people scream your name out loud if you don't wait near where you actually ordered. I struggled to choose between the two kinds but ended up sharing a kid size raspberry roadrunner and medium creamsicle soft serve twist! I didn't think the white chocolate flavor was super apparent in the raspberry roadrunner, but it was nonetheless good. I preferred the soft serve way more :) read more

What an excellent choice we made for lunch while traveling in the area! Reuben sandwich featured a generous portion and rated as one of best Reuben sandwiches ever. BLT was perfect for a light lunch on fresh bread with crunchy lettuce and just enough mayonnaise! Hersheys ice cream was a nice desert and we even each took a brownie to go. A really cute place to stop for a lunch and ice cream. Its built out in an old barn, and has a pretty good variety of hot and cold sandwiches, soups and salads, plus a long list of ice cream flavors. You order and pick up at the counter, or outside during summer days. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The C&O panini was great and worth going back for. The ice cream is Hershey's, and while not as good as Rocky Point, still a nice treat, and a huge portion size. Its right off the highway and worth a stop! read more

I waited in line nearly a half hour this evening, and it was worth it! The sandwiches are simple, and very very good. The bread is fresh, and bacon crisp. The BLT is my favorite, followed by the Ciabatta Club. Don't forget the side garlicky pickle spear. Oh, the ice cream is great, from local creameries and also Hershey. Tip: try a scoop of Hershey Sorbet topped with Vanilla soft serve. So. Very. Good. The staff is just wonderful. I have never seen a worker that looks older than a teen. They are all so pleasant, and it is just a joy to order here. The line moves very slowly, they seem understaffed. I waited in line for almost 30 minutes, and the cashier greeted me with a warm smile. This is a very cool spot. I came here today for lunch. It was a great scenic drive from my office. The service was spectacular. Everyone was very courteous and my sandwich came out quick. There is outdoor seating so I decided to sit outside as there was a large group of school children that took up the entire indoor area. The Traptown Turkey Sandwich was pretty solid. For $1 extra you can also add a pickle (came with two small ones) and a bag of chips. I'd definitely return to try some of their other sandwiches. read more

People are friendly there but it's just too expensive for what it is. $5 for a simple sundae half the size of McDonald's. And that was even made wrong. It was ice cream, nuts, cherry, and whipped cream. No topping. When I asked it was "Oh, you want a topping?" Uh, yeah, because I ordered one lol. They have mainly Hershey's ice cream, which I don't love, and like 3 flavors of South Mountain Creamery, which is much better. Oh, and everything is an up charge...soft serve is what it comes with. Typical go-to when the kids want ice cream or family is in town and I don't know what to feed them. High-school aged teenagers are part of the typical staff, so service and food quality is sometimes 'meh', but they are always friendly and quick to correct mistakes. We stopped here on our way home from Harper's Ferry when the sweet tooth got a hold of us. The Little Red Barn is located less than a minute off the highway so it's hard to say "no" to such a minor detour. We chose two "play dough" ice creams, one brownie sundae, one Oreo sundae, and the favorite of the night: Camo Hero. Camo Hero was sitting in the corner of the ice cream case, like an unpopular afterthought. I was all set to order my usual, cookie dough or perhaps cookies and cream, when out of nowhere... BAM. I'd been hit. I saw the Camo Hero out of the corner of my eye and knew where the shot came from. Toasted Marshmallow and Graham Cracker Ice Cream with Peanut Butter Frosting and huge chunks of Oreo Cookies... "GET IN MY BELLY!" I devoured more of this than I'd like to admit. I had to fend off my hungry kids who were coming at my cake cone like a nest of hungry birds. All things considered, I would give five stars if not for the (approximately 10 minute wait) and confusion about how the orders were being taken. Some people went to the register to order. Others went to the ice cream case. At the same time, waiters were walking through the ice cream line to deliver food. Perhaps there's a way for the system to be organized a little better. I have been in the area to tour a local wedding venue (shout out to BEAUTIFUL Stone Manor Country Club) and knew I had to stop in & try this place out. SO thankful we did! Parking is great, lot on top and near the building their is access to another portion of the lot to the left. People were standing outside waiting - not sure why. We walked in and placed our order. They have breakfast sandwiches available all day! It took us so some to decide, but we got the Ciabatta Club & the Reuben. I also got a coffee milkshake - The Raging Bull. This has espresso in it and is delicious!! I got the regular size, which was bigger than I expected and was perfect. The Ciabatta Club is on fresh bread and the touch of bacon on there hit the spot. The Reuben is AMAZING (but Reubens are my favorite so I could be biased..) I was surprised to see it came with basically two sandwiches, not a big sandwich cut in half! I ate half the Ciabatta & one (of the two) Reubens, and I was set. I got a bag of chips with my meal, the other meal came with a pickle. It's nice they let you pick. I had to save the chips for later since I was full. They also have a ton of ice cream flavors! When I stop by again and it's warm out I will definitely be getting a scoop. While I have long known the Little Red Barn as a wonderful ice cream stop, I had an opportunity to visit for lunch this weekend. What a treat! As always, the staff were friendly and polite and the restaurant was clean and pleasant. I ordered a simple grilled cheese sandwich with bacon and it was great. It probably had more butter than I need, but we're all just going to agree to not tell my doctor. The person who took my order at the counter didn't provide me an opportunity to add a tip, which I would have done. But I appreciate that her focus was on serving the customer. I look forward to future visits. I haven't been by for ice-cream recently. Will need to fix that. Definitely recommend! read more
