We walked into the building and searched for a while before realizing that to our horror and immense disappointment didn't have any - we were distraught. Inconsolable. The next day we returned and alas! The fruit of our labor! The Leninade sat hidden away on the shelf. It ended up being a birthday celebration for my brother-in-law, and it got to be dinner AND dessert! When I went inside, I was intrigued to see all the sodas on the shelf, and my gosh do they have some WILD flavors. Bacon? Pickle? Peach Cobbler?! I settled for a ginger beer I've never seen before (we'll come back to that), but then I diverted my attention to the food. They've got hot dogs, sloppy joes, and plenty of snacks, OH MY! And you could make the buns gluten-free and the hot dogs or sloppy joes vegan. I decided to go with the hot dogs, and there were so many toppings to choose from! I made one super spicy and put bacon bits and relish on the other. After ordering, my family sat outside and a woman brought the food to us. The hot dogs on the gluten-free buns are FANTASTIC! And it was a great price! Don't forget, I had ice cream too... they had several excellent flavors like Blueberry Cheesecake, Banana Cream Pie, Twix, Cookie Butter, and enough topping options to make your head explode! As if that's not enough, they have.... DONUT ICE CREAM SANDWICHES! And not just any donut... they come from Glory Doughnuts, a delightful vegan donut shop nearby in town! I got the Stroop to my Level Freddy, which, in case it isn't obvious, is a donut ice cream sandwich topped with stroopwaffel. It was everything. I talked to the cashier asking their opinion on ice cream flavors- I followed their descriptions and ordered a Banana Caramel Bourbon flavor in kiddie size in case I didn't like it. They claimed what I got has a strong banana flavor, which I like. Thankfully, I ordered kid size- there was absolutely ZERO banana or caramel flavor and it tasted like someone put pumpkin pie spice in the ice cream with some bourbon that wasn't evenly dispersed throughout the ice cream. [Coronavirus review] This is one business that has adopted thorough social distancing. They have a takeout window with tape marked to keep you away from it, as well as online ordering. They'll bring you your sodas. I was in the market for ice cream, however, and sampled a robustly flavored blueberry and a passable mint with "brownie brittle", which were a good amount for the price. Their main business is soda, and they have a very large selection of unusual items. I've never been entirely sold on this business strategy, seeing as how I can get very nice and very niche sodas at any number of specialty grocers for a lot less (including the MOM's right on the outskirts of Frederick). Ordering sodas online tends to be impractical due to shipping, and this place does have such a selection you can probably find something worth trying that you couldn't get elsewhere if you like specialty sodas, which I surely do. Also worth noting that they have a significant vegan selection of candy and some vegan frozen desserts which are generally big brands and not housemade. Still, if you're dairy-free or vegan but still want nutrition-free indulgence, you are better served here than in the average dessert shop. Stopped into the North Market Pop Shop on my way up to Pennsylvania for a bit of a break off of the interstate. It was easy to find and there seemed to be a good amount of street parking around. For late in the afternoon on a Wednesday there was a good amount of business. Plenty of people browsing the multitude of soda available. It's a neat concept. Very niche. I wish there had been some call-outs for staff member's favorites. The selection was overwhelming and recommendations could have helped narrow it down. I settled on a Dang That's Good root beer and ordered my hot dog. I was definitely dismayed when I saw the roller dog placed in the bun and then put in the microwave. Womp womp..... For me a microwaved dog and bun just become tough and too chewy. All in all, it's a cute spot and I'd pass through again for the novelty with friends. I love this place! If I'm ever craving cream soda or just any odd soda flavor - I come here. They have Reading draft which is from the place that I went to college at: Reading, PA. It's delicious! Been here several times with and without the kids to have some fun picking out individual craft sodas to bring home. Lots of fun flavors you don't find just anywhere. I was under the impression that it had a old timey soda fountain decor but it didn't. The seating area was very disheveled and filled with everything from trash to extra supplies. It took quite sometime to even get someone to take our order as the employees seemed preoccupied with other priorities. I used to be a loyal patron to the pop shop, I had gone there for years and even started collecting the Japanese glass bottles from one of their best soda brands. My main issue isn't their ice cream, which is delicious. It isn't there milkshakes or candy supply (even if they only carry sour haribo gummy bears), it is their hilarious over pricing. They have a system of different drink pricings. One of their "premium drinks" can cost up to $4. This ruins the experience for me everytime I go there. I love stopping in Frederick when heading home from Baltimore and walking around the historic downtown and seeing all of the locally owned boutiques and restaurants. One of my favorite places to stop is the North Market Pop Shop which has hundreds and hundreds of various kinds of soda from all around the world! This is such a cute little novelty place! We were just walking around downtown Frederick and passed by here and decided to stop in. The place was busy the entire time we were here. They have four small tables to sit at while you enjoy your soda or ice cream. They have, according to their sign, over 400 selections of soda to choose from. I did not count but I certainly will take their word for it. There are so many soda options. You can also order ice cream and soda floats but we did not get either of those. They had bags of chips and candy bars for purchase as well. This would be a fun place to come on a date night when you're looking for something unique to do. I would love to have had my soda poured over a cup of ice. I am not one who loves to drink soda straight out of a bottle although I know others don't mind. Lots of selections but... There was pop (that's what we called it back in Chicago) from when I was a kid and tons of stuff I never heard of. The price, almost $3/bottle makes it a bit spendy to experiment. I chose A&W root beer and was happy it only used cane sugar as a sweetner and was made with real vannila. It was as tasty and refreshing as I rememberd from pulling into an A&W stand in Wisconson and getting it in a gallon jug. The only shortfall was they didn't have any ice.
