This is a long overdue review. I booked Debbie and her animals for my kids' 3 & 4 year old birthday party last July. I was really nervous because I had read reviews for other places not being responsive or show up, and I did the whole party theme around having animals there. I called Debbie, because she had nothing but good reviews...and after booking her, I knew why. She's definitely responsive, her process was easy and she was really easy to work with, she answered ALL of my questions (and I had a lot). She showed up on time, the animals were amazing: clean, sweet, happy--definitely well cared for. She was good with the kids, good with the animals (and good with the kids and the animals together). We used Little Reds for our daughters 2nd birthday and it was so much fun for both the kids and adults... not to mention the adorable pictures everyone got! Debbie & her daughter arrived right on time and set up a "pin" in our backyard, including a Red Barn prop in the background. They also brought treats for the kids to give the animals and a bucket of brushes for the kids to use. She brought a miniature horse, a small donkey, 2 chickens, a goat and a rabbit. Our daughter was so excited to have these animals in her own backyard!! (I felt bad she thought the animals were her gift!) When the party Day arrived Debbie was flexible as to location of the petting zoo bringing all the supplies and needing literally no help to set up (even though offered). I was looking for something special for my 10 year old daughters birthday. She loves all kinds of animals so I came up with a petting zoo. After doing a lot of research on line, Little Reds Barnyard was the best one I found. I live in Union City and they are located in Castro Valley so they didn't charge for transportation which most of them do. Debbie and her daughter arrived before the party started to set up. The had an interlocking fence they put up to keep the animals contained. They brought water for all of the animals and hand sanitizer which I thought was great. From the animals she has, we had the chickens, rabbits, miniature horse and she also brought her full size horse, Cherokee, for the kids to ride on. All the animals were very friendly and the kids had a blast. She took tons of pictures that she later put up on Shutterfly and you can order prints from there. I would definitely recommend her and would use her again in the future. She made my daughters birthday one that her and her friends will never forget. Little Reds Barnyard Friends was PERFECT for my son's 1st birthday. Working with Debbie while planning was easy. Unlike another Bay Area traveling petting zoo which I will leave unnamed (found on Yelp), Debbie was responsive which is an important and comforting thing to look for in vendors while party planning. As another review says, arrival to break down was smooth. She also was very accommodating since I had unfortunately had to change my location a few days before (only by less than 5 miles, but still!). The animals were well kept and you could definitely sense a true love and care for them. They were all friendly, well-socialized, and easy to handle. During the party Debbie was very friendly and really worked well with the kids, too. We had about 20-25 kids going in and out over 2 hours. Debbie also stayed and cleaned up the area well afterwards. I am writing this review based on the communication of Debbie and her business. I sent her and email with our party details after a previous company (that I had used in the past) was not getting back to me. Debbie called me the same day within a few hours and was prepared to answer my questions. I gave full disclosure about the issue I was having with the other company and said if they did call me back, I would go with them based on having a good experience the first time we used them. Debbie was completely understanding on this and said it would be no problem if we chose the other company and that if I did hear back, she would love to come and support at our party. So fun! Debbie and her pony, Smokey, were the highlight of my daughters' western themed 2nd birthday party this past weekend! My daughter loved riding on Smokey the pony, as did all the kids at the party; the adults at the party thought it was such a great idea too! They are very professional, nice people, and were very clean. Their animals are well taken care of. That was very important to me and I liked how the animals were their pets. The whole setup was super cute and they cleaned up. I would definitely use them again and would highly recommend them. I was given a couple of referrals but just did my own research and felt most comfortable with them. It is not a major operation for them, just seems like they really enjoy it. Smokey the birthday pony came to my daughters 8th birthday party. From the first phone call to reserve the pony, to their arrival at the party, it was a low stress, hassle free experience. We made the reservation few months in advance. She called a few weeks prior and a few days before the party to confirm the times an locations, and then once more the evening before the party to make sure there were no last minute changes.
