Hubby and I dined at Little Rice for our monthly date night. I am not a big eater so I let him order and I sample all the foods, it works for us and it makes me a cheap date. We ordered a sushi roll, a ramen and a chow mei fun as well as some hot tea. The sushi roll - the Lover Roll - was very, very good. As was the ramen. The tea was piping hot (just how I like it). Service was fine, nothing outstanding. It was a Wednesday night; I believe there was one other couple and a family also dining in. Most of the action was take-out orders. Cute little restaurant. I ordered the Vegetable Yaki Udon for takeout and I liked it. I wanted to try something new, it wasn't my favorite but still enjoyable, lots of veggies that I did like and they removed the snow peas by request. I will return to try other items in the future. read more

I came here again - on a whim that it might be Better this time - and IT WAS. We had the fried Calamari, which, other than being frozen was passable. We also had a somewhat tasty but slightly sweet hot & sour soup containing All of the necessary ingredients and which my companion loved. And we each had the $4.50 lunch special maki rolls (California & Eel), which was fine. Unlike our first time here the music choice was better and the service was clear and direct - and in English. The people who run this place are all related, a family from Fujian in southeast China. And yet their Chinese specials are the worst things on the menu. Stick to their Japanese food, except their tasty Tempura because they give French dressing as the sauce. Our second visit, very good. We went on a Thursday evening after 8pm. Our server was polite and friendly, and our food was fresh and delicious. I had the Chicken Lover's poke bowl (sauce was a bit too sweet for me but a delicious menu item nonetheless), and my husband had General Tao's Chicken. Great "sticky rice", too! Recommend. read more

We are always looking to try Ramen noodle soups and different locations around the Chicagoland area. Today we were in the area and Little Rice looked like the place to try. The atmosphere is very clean, fresh, and modern. Nice wood tables and floors and a beautiful sushi bar area. I ordered hot tea and it came to the table in a beautiful teapot with a matching tea cup. Very impressive. My husband ordered a Diet Pepsi. He was happy they have fountain drinks here (not canned drinks) and even though he prefers Diet Coke, he said it was not horrible drinking Diet Pepsi. We ordered the Spicy Tuna Roll as our appetizer and we asked for a side of spicy mayo. It was absolutely amazing! Very beautiful presentation and the perfect temperature and texture. For our main entree we ordered the Miso Ramen. The flavor of the broth and the taste and texture of the noodles were delicious. I was happy that the soup was hot but not scalding hot as you often receive it at other restaurants. The egg was warm and hard boiled and normally eggs are cold and more of a soft boiled texture so it was different but still very delicious. The only thing we did not care for was the meat. It was a little too firm for our liking and had a distinctive honey ham like aftertaste (we are used to meat that melts in your mouth and has a non sweet taste)! It was not something that we were used too but that is the reason we try out different restaurants. This is definitely a great restaurant and I highly recommend it. Next time we are going to try something different from the menu as the Ramen was not our favorite. read more

I am all about supporting new local restaurants. We wanted try little rice out and unfortunately had a poor experience. I also want to preface that I'm a patient person. It was warm Inside and more of like a cafe style. Service was a bit slow from the start but we ordered drinks and our selections for dinner. The issue came about at first when my iced tea was warm... and the diet pop was flat. They couldn't fix that issue and only could offer regular Pepsi. The next issue was when the wait staff came out to let us know their tofu was bad and could only offer vegetarian rolls. We are all vegetarian and that was the finally straw. We bowed out and left. I have only done this twice and feel terrible but this was not going well and about to go worse. They seemed very unprepared and can not recommend trying this restaurant. I ordered the tonkotsu ramen. Please heed my warning from this review. The ramen is flavorless and it's just maruchan instant ramen. The noodles had no flavor and were soggy. The broth had no flavor and was just water. The meat had no flavor and was unseasoned. The egg was not a hard/soft boiled egg but it was an egg that was sunny side up. In all my years of eating tonkotsu ramen I've never had a sunny side up egg in my ramen. The toppings were lack luster. If you're looking for a real ramen then I'd suggest you go else where as you'll be highly disappointed. I'd had a few rice dishes like the mongolian beef and fried rice it was just OK. Panda Express has better options. However, I wanted to report something disturbing. When I went to pick up my to go order I can only assume a lady who I think was the owner was just rudely bossing her employee around. Pointing and at the point of yelling at her employee to do this and do that. It just rubbed me the wrong way as to why someone would treat their employee like a slave. We were pleasantly surprised by the quality and taste of the food, although a few dishes were quite salty. The portions were good sized and we had enough left over for a few more meals (for two people). Well I almost just got arrested at Little Rice. I ordered 3 tempura rolls and shrimp and steak hibachi. They tell me on the phone 20 minutes. I knew better than to believe that. So I watered all the plants and got to the restaurant 45 minutes after I called. Of course the food still isn't done. And hour and 15 minutes after I called the food finally comes out. Online the price for tempura rolls is $7 and shrimp and steak hibachi is $22.75. Should come out to $43.75 plus tax. She says Total is $61.16. I said that's wrong. She says we have new paper menu in store with new prices. I said but everything online says the price I normally pay. She said I don't care we go by paper menu. I'm said then online needs to be changed. She then said paper menu and waves it in my face. I told her to stick that menu up her ass. She said if you don't pay I'm calling the police. So I paid and said fuck you and this shithole and walked out. So the difference is tempura rolls went from $7 to $9.25 and the hibachi went from $22.75 to $29 read more

Tempura and egg rolls were good. Ramen was disappointing, seemed like spaghetti noodles with bland beoth and egg was cooked well but bland, not miso soaked or anything. The pork was good though. Added some miso I had to make it better. Plain white rice was overcooked and sticky /mushy. I didn't try sushi but hesitant to order from here again. LOVED the disposable Asian spoon! read more

Beef fried rice was alright there wasn't a ton of flavor but I'm glad it wasn't greasy. I probably wouldn't get it again. I think it came with the side salad which I didn't touch at all. However, the poke bowl was so flavorful and delicious! This definitely beat out poke bros for me. I will be coming back for the poke. read more

Had this place twice now and it seems a little inconsistent. I think the issue may be that the menu us just too large to do everything well. The good: THE WONTON SOUP which is a huge portion with stuffed wonton dumplings that is delicious and I would highly highly highly recommend, the hibachi vegetables were awesome and perfectly cooked with a super yummy teriyaki sauce. The mediocre: sushi rolls I have tried to far have been dry and not seasoned, ramen is ok but lacks that punch of flavor I expect. The bad: the house seafood soup which reminds me of the sauce from shrimp and lobster sauce, thick and more like a gravy but cooked here in a way that makes it kind of slimly. read more

When we called they said they were busy but then we drove in to pick it up living not too far and there was no one in the restaurant!!! Long wait for takeout. Sushi not great and neither were the noodles. I've tried it twice so far and both times were just meh.

My husband and I have ordered from here a couple of times now. Both experiences have been great! The first time we ordered we got sushi. It was fresh and delicious! The second time we ordered we got the General Tsao's chicken and the chicken fried rice. Both were great as well! I normally order genereal Tsao's chicken from Chens, since there aren't many places to order Asian dishes from in the area, and Little Rice definitely beat them! I'm happy to finally have another place to order from. All in all we've had a great experience so far with them. We haven't dined in with them yet, but I'm sure if we did it'd be a lovely experience :) read more

Sushi has been fresh everytime! The appetizer are great. For some reason they have the sweetheart roll online but not in the restaurant.

If I am just rating the food, 4 stars. Really good fresh sushi, gyoza and miso soup. And order the sugar donuts with icing to dip for dessert later. Yum! If I was rating wait time, 1-2 stars. Just know when they say 25-30 minute wait for to go, expect more than an hour. I know everyone is short staffed, which is why I wouldn't lower stars for wait time. I will order again, but I will expect 60-75 minute wait if it is dinner. Once they get their timing down this restaurant will do well. One suggestion is that they come up with a few sushi combo dinners, with 2-3 rolls and soup. read more

I've had my eye on this place waiting to open ... it finally opened today!!! . I ordered the General Tso Chicken since it was a brand new place. It's a good starting place to GUAGE if I will be returning or not. I WILL BE RETURNING! Food was piping hot. The chicken morsels were crispy and tasteful. The battered pieces were lightly coated evenly allowing you to taste the delicate sauce. I chose to let the restaurant dictate the level of spiciness... just right! Of course they are willing to suit to YOUR taste and comfort level. The broccoli added was just enough not overfilling g the bottom of the to go container. Sometimes places add too much vegetables but not in today's order. The rest of the items on the menu looked mouthwatering. I ordered off door dash and received the wrong order so I drove all the way there to get the right one and they asked for the other order but never askede to bring it in. i was then asked repeatedly where my order was so I stated again I didn't have it with me and showed a pictured. I had my crying baby while they delayed my order even more. until finally getting a new one to take home.
