Everything was so good, we couldn't stop talking about how good it was, especially the beef in the fried rice. We ordered Lad NAR for pickup. Upon taking our order I was told it would be ready in 10 minutes. once picking up I had to wait over 10 minutes at the counter til waitress came out of kitchen delivering a food order to the one table of diners in the restaurant as well and holding our order. Although we were just picking up I left a moderate tip and glad I did. it was not Lad NAR the rice pasta dish it was Lad NAR Soup. I double checked myself in asking my boyfriend if I was perhaps over critical and he said no, the dish was not as good as we had had it many times before. when I called to complain the same waitress picked up the phone. she said that that is how the dish comes. We ate lunch here today, after many months of refusing to come here ever again. But today the food was much better and the service too. Crystal Thai has raised the price of their weekday lunch specials to $10.99. When I moved to Crystal Lake in 2022 the lunch special was $8.99. I had all tofu dishes, and they were much tastier than I expected. However, hot water with a single tea-bag cost $3.50. Krystal Thai just wasn't very good. I've been so excited to swing by because it's the only Thai place in the general area (Crystal Lake). My Dad and I were starving so we went for dinner. The atmosphere is nice and authentic, but the seats are pretty painful. Our server was friendly but pretty absent. It was pretty crowded so that might have been why. The food was lackluster. The Strawberry Milk Tea was too icy. We ordered the Chicken Satay, which were decent but had no curry taste, instead they were sour like they had too much coconut milk. They also came out after our entrees did. My Dad's Red Curry was bland and watery, he hated it. My Rama Curry Noodles were pretty flavorful, but nothing spectacular. When you first walk in you see how nicely decorated the restaurant is. The tables are very sturdy and beautiful and there are plenty of seating options. We received amazing service. We ordered appetizers: 2x pot stickers, and 2x shrimp dumplings and 1x crab rangoon! They were all delicious and perfectly prepared! There was instrumental music playing in the background and a tv with the sound off. They serve all sorts of alcoholic beverages. We were dining with family. My brother and sister in law ordered the #65 Pad Woon Sen (one ordered beef and one ordered chicken) and said they loved it and would order again! My nephew ordered #90 Krystal Chicken, it came with a bowl of white rice. He loved it and had some left over to take home for later! My husband ordered #60 Beef Pad Thai Noodles and said it was filling and delicious! I ordered # 40 Pho Soup with beef and meatballs and it was fresh and delicious! Better than I was expecting! I loved the meat it was the best I have tasted in a long time! When you order your food #1 is not spicy #3 is medium spicy and #5 is the spiciest they offer! So think about what your spice level is while your looking at the menu. Our waitress was very attentive and kept our beverages full and they even have desserts if you can save enough room. Not authentic anymore. We have been going here for 3 years and the food was so good, just like I remembered from my 4 years in Thailand. Now, if you want your food spicy they add more jalapeños--they don't use Thai peppers! The rice was dry and flaky like you just pulled it out of the refrigerator. The spicy beef salad (Yam Nua) had NO BEEF and no salad, only glass noodles. Our Pad Thai was dry and tasteless. The Pad See Ewe was ewwww, both of them. Mango sticky rice--mango was too young, rice was hard, and there was very little sweet cream. The ONLY thing we liked was the Thai Ice Tea. Big Whoop! In the restaurant, the manager/owner chastised the two employees who taking our takeout order. We were embarrassed for the employees and dismayed that anyone would do such a thing in front of customers. It seems as though the restaurant changed hands since our last visit a year ago. We don't know who is cooking in the kitchen, but can assure you they do not know how to cook this cuisine nor use proper ingredients. You want authenticity? Go some place else, we are. We came here for an early evening meal. The air conditioning must not have been working inside initially but luckily as the restaurant got busier it started to working. We ordered Fresh Spring Rolls, Pad Thai Tofu, Pad Kee Mou Beef, Fried Banana Rolls, Coconut Sticky Rice with Ice Cream. There was a large amount of food per entree, I was able to pack half my entree for another meal. The Pad Thai flavor is not my personal favorite but it was still good - I prefer a sweeter sauce. The Pad Kee Mou noodles and beef were good but my fiancé got a level 3 spice but he didn't feel like that was spicy enough (which I could confirm I tried and wasn't spicy). There were jalapeños in the dish but the sauce itself was sweet and salty. We both loved the desserts. Service was great and food came out fast which was impressive because there was only one waitress working when we got to the restaurant. I have not been here for a number of years. My wife and I decided to have a casual Valentines dinner and we love it just as much as before. We started off with two appetizers: shrimp dumplings and their vegetable spring rolls. The dumplings were really good (it had been years since I had them) and the spring rolls are crispy little rolls of amazingness. I decided to get the Krystal Thai fried rice with shrimp (spice level 4). It was so good! Spice level caused my lips to go numb and I loved every second. The Krystal Thai Fried Rice is full of green peppers, red peppers, onions and some sort of sauce. To be honest, it was a great Valentines date place. Horrible. Everything tastes the same. No originality no flavor. The veggie yellow curry had frozen corn peas and carrots in it? That's a first for me! And jalapeños???? My hubby's beef massaman curry has 2 peanuts in it and the beef was not tender beef. Chicken pad Thai had only 2 pieces of meat in it and was brown and tasted like the peanut sauce from the satay we had! Not like pad Thai. I don't know who is cooking these recipes? Went in with a large group of friends and initially was worried that because they have such a large menu that maybe the quality of food would not be so good. I have to say that the 10 of us all ordered something different and all was sampled and shared. Wow the food is fantastic here, I have to say not one dish was disappointing in any way to any of us. Food was nasty and nowhere near what I ordered, unfortunately I found this out when got home. I ordered Kung Pau and crab Rangoon. I called to see if they would fix the issue and instead I got a bunch or double talk and excuses. As you can see in the pictures this is Not Kung Pau, this is some crap they whipped up in the kitchen that had no flavor, was missing ingredients and tasted funny. These people are rude and are selling food that's not matching up to what they have advertised on their menu. Go somewhere else and save your money and time. Very disappointed with the Tofu Green Curry! This is a traditional dish, so how can you mess it up? Watered down green curry that tasted exactly that. They used frozen vegetables (corn, green beans,carrots, lima beans)! Never have I've seen this dish made with frozen vegetables, which made the dish taste like frozen vegetables water. Brought my friend, from OH, to try my favorite Thai restaurant. Still a four star place. Nothing to change in the rating. Love their red curry with shrimp. Dump in the rice and take home for leftovers. Tastes great later, too. Disturbing to have an employee sit at the table/booth beside us and begin playing a game on his laptop...rude! He kept to himself but he seemed too close to our table and that was awkward. Fun observing new waitresses learn their duties. The waitresses are very kind and helpful. Lexi was the BEST server! Bangkok crispy noodles with chicken (today I got it with shrimp) is my favorite lunch here! Included in the lunch special is a cup of soup and a spring roll. I have been here quite a handful of times now. Their main dish positions are big. I like that they have a "heat" scale of 1 to 5 that they ask you before making your dish. Their appetizers are filling and enough to share. Cons-their satay children is hit or miss. Sometimes it's juicy and all the flavors click and sometimes it tastes old and leaves a sour aftertaste. Also when they pack up your food, if you don't specify to pack the leftover appetizers with your dishes they just throw them out. The spring rolls were not what I expected. They were Vietnamese style which is ok but I don't like Vietnamese style because of the texture and it wasn't advertised as that so I'm thinking Thai restaurant Thai style spring rolls. I tried it to give it a fair review but it was bland and texture was off. As for the Pad see Ewe the sauce was non existent. Basically bland noodles and overcooked chicken. I had to ask for all the sauces pictured to try to salvage it, the picture is after I drenched it, but didn't help since it wasn't cooked in. My review is for the items I tried only. This is a great place to get Thai food whether it's take out or eat in. Lisa is a great host and the staff is also courteous and attentive. The variety of items on the menu ensures anyone will find something they like, and if you like a little "kick" to your food you can choose from 1-5 with 5 being the highest level . We visited recently on the evening of Friday August 19 2022 to dine in. The food was great as usual, however, our server, "Noah" made the experience very pleasant. Noah made sure everything went well and checked in periodically (...without it interfering with our meal experience in any way). Came in and ordered my default noodles, they said they had a lunch special for pad see eiwe so I got it, out comes chicken jasmine rice soup and an egg roll, soup is flavorful and the egg roll was great! I got the pad see eiwe right after and it is delicious! I then ordered papaya salad the papaya salad I'm used to is a lot spicier but the dressing is tangy and good, I just want a little more spice, if I'm ever up here again I'll definitely go for this place! read more
