A hidden gem! Saturday lunchtime we venture to Woow Sushi. It was an excellent recommendation from my husband. We ordered their bento boxes: I got teriyaki salmon and my husband got the chicken teriyaki. Both came with miso soup, Japanese salad, 3 pcs of California roll and 3 mini fried siomai. We also ordered shrimp tempura & Boston rolls from their lunch special. The food was well prepared and delicious. The portions were above average. Last night I ordered Kung Pao with tofu, hot-sour soup and spicy tuna roll. The soup was great, as always! The tuna roll was good but no wasabi included. The Kung Pau with tofu had 2/3rds tofu and very little of anything else! I have been to Woow, had delivery and pick-up. Something always is missing or wrong! I don't know if it switched management or quit caring. Just letting all know, as I will not return. Check your items when picking up. Not possible with delivery services. "Woow Sushi" is a creature of it's time and location. Placed prominently in the front section of a very large, multi-buildinged strip mall on Randle Road (a major street) in the township of Algonquin (a fairly robust area in Chicago's far northwest suburbs), "Woow Sushi" is pretty easy to spot, but a bit harder to get to. After suffering numerous failed twists & turns through the winding roadways of it's enormous and confusing mall-scape, we finally reached our planned destination. Based on the goofy name, I expected "WOOW Sushi" to be some tiny dump of a franchise, but it was not. The restaurant's size was deceptive from the parking lot view. But once inside my girlfriend and I saw that it took up two or maybe even three entire store fronts, going back deep to the far rear wall of the entire mall building. The place was huge. Of course, this only made the handful of customers there look like a few little groups of hobbits, even though there may have been more than a dozen, sitting in twos at their tables in the intimately dim central dining room. It actually looked nice in there, and maybe even romantic. But unfortunately we were sat at the far corner table near the service area of the bar, with carts full of plate collection bins and a bucket full of cleaning detergent about four feet away. I wanted to move to a table in the much more pleasant middle dining room, but my girlfriend, Maureen, had recently been giving me a lot of trouble regarding my continuous expressions of dissatisfaction with our seats and food and other problems, at multiple restaurants recently, restaurants that I felt could have served us much better, and she was pissed at me for it. It actually got to the point that if I said anything to the staff, or even asked for a refill of coffee that had been empty for way too long, she would hang her head in shame and embarrassment and maybe even start a fight. So I decided to just accept the nasty seat that they gave us, and avoid ruining our lunch with my arrogant complaints. However, before we ordered, when Maureen jogged off to the bathroom, I took the opportunity to ask a staff member to please stop mopping around our table and to move the bucket of cleaning liquid far away, because it stank - which they did, promptly before Maureen returned. As far as the menu here goes, "Woow Sushi" has a multi-sectioned menu, with each section listing dishes from a different Asian Cuisine: Japanese, Chinese, and Thai, with Japanese cuisine being the most prominent (nearly all of it Nigiri Sushi and American style over-embellished Maki Rolls covered in glitzy but cheap ingredients). But like so many other supposed "Japanese" restaurants in this area, 'Woow Sushi' is hedging it's bets by also offering it's customers a variety of other Asian favorites, like 'Pad Thai', 'Fresh Spring Rolls in Rice-Paper Wrap', & 'Pork Sate' (from Thailand), 'Hot & Sour Soup', 'Fried Rice', 'Kung Pao Beef', and 'General Tsao's Chicken' (from China), and of course 'Shrimp Tempura', Sukiyaki Beef, 'BBQ Char-Su Ramen Noodle Soup', and various 'Teriyaki' bowls (from Japan). 'Woow Sushi' also has a decent looking Sushi Bar, and a few higher quality bottles of Sake on it's liquor shelf. Overall, the "Pan-Asian" menu here offers enough 'Fan-Favorites' that the local northwest suburban customer base should be more than satisfied. But the best thing about the menu, and the reason that we decided to come on a Saturday, is because "Woow Sushi" actually offers it's weekday lunch specials on Saturdays up until mid-afternoon. Maureen doesn't care for Sushi, but she loves Tempura, so I emailed her a copy of the Saturday lunch specials, and the prominent one to peak her interest was the Tempura set, which offered 3 shrimp tempura & 4 vegetable tempura, plus miso soup, a crisp salad with ginger dressing, 3 gyoza dumplings, 3 pieces of California roll, plus a large portion of rice, all for $14. It was a shocking bargain seeing as the tempura alone cost $18 just as an appetizer. So we both got that set. The salad was great with that yummy ginger dressing. And although the tempura breading was a little heavy (being panko instead of batter) the shrimps were big and juicy and the crust on every piece was crunchy-good. And like the huge restaurant itself, the portions here are enormous. Both of us had enough leftovers for at least a full meal (and I had enough for two meals because I eat less due to my gastric bypass surgery in 2011). Our waiter was very attentive almost to the point of being wacky. It was the day before St. Patrick's Day, and even though he was Asian, he kept wishing us a "Happy St. Patrick's Day" and bringing us to-go boxes filled with extra miso soups and extra salads. Maureen was so taken by him that she asked me write, "Liam was such a sweet waiter I hope you will give him a great review". So I have. And he deserves it. "Happy St. Patrick's Day" Liam. I ordered delivery from this restaurant for about $72. It was my first experience with them. I will never order from them again, and here are the reasons why: 1. The fried oysters were for some reason placed on a bed of shredded lettuce! This caused the entire bottom of each oyster to be soaking wet. I've never experienced ordering a fried food and have it served on wet shredded lettuce. 2. The oysters are so heavily breaded that the breading falls off after taking one bite. We ended up removing the oysters from the breading, which was extremely easy, before eating them. The sauce that comes with them is delicious. I would suggest that you never serve hot, fried food on top of cold shredded lettuce unless you want your fried food to always be extremely soggy, like these oysters were. And the over-breading of the oysters makes it difficult to taste the fish at all. 3. Two of the Maki rolls contain breadcrumbs. The spicy tuna was full of them, making it impossible to taste the spicy tuna. And the only reason I can think of to do that would be to fill the roll with less tuna. Unfortunately, all you can taste is the breadcrumbs. 4. The other maki roll was the "spicy salmon topped with spicy tuna". This roll's entire container was completely covered with over a cup of breadcrumbs! By the time we got them off of the roll, we could see that the "spicy tuna" on top of the roll was also mixed with breadcrumbs like the spicy tuna roll, eliminating any taste of the spicy tuna. I have never been more disappointed in a sushi delivery. And I'll never spend another penny in your restaurant. read more

I went to get sushi with a few of my friends. We had a terrible server that wasn't attentive at all. Everything we asked for took way longer than it should. Came here for dinner after work with a coworker. Ordered the chicken hibachi, steak hibachi, spider roll a tofu appetizer and drinks, mojito and mai tai. First off, WooW the hibachi plates are huge! Had so much food to take home. Flavor of all the food and sushi was delicious. The mojito was really strong, I could only drink half of it. The restaurant is clean as well as the washroom. The menu is so big, so much to choose from and really like that. The decor is very cool. I like it alot. They gave us complimentary edemame which is awesome! After reading the favorable reviews I decided to place a take out order of Hot and Sour soup, Orange chicken, a spicy salmon roll and a Rainbow roll. My order was ready when I arrived. Once home and opened the food, everything looked good. However, the Orange chicken had barely any hint of Orange, this disappointed my wife. The Rainbow roll was tasty, even the Spicy salmon roll. But I found fish bones in the Spicy salmon roll. Never-have-I-ever had fish bones in any sushi that I've eaten in the last 10 years. The Hot and Sour soup was bland and not spicey enough as advertised. While I did have high hopes, I don't think I'll order from or go to Woow Shush bar from this point forward. read more

I go there at least once a week. Now you may have lost my business forever. Here's the math:. Lost yearly revenue ( 52 weeks x $40 each visit)= $2080 per year, over 5 years= $10,400. Flambe roll was the first to arrive. We were starving by then. Server said it may take up to 3 mins before you can eat it. After the flame went out we found that they had not made cuts on the sushi. More waiting before we could catch another server to get it cut. I think she was a host who took her sweet time while talking to another staff member. Our server brought the cut pieces and by now my preggo self was super hungry and annoyed with all the waiting. We asked how long the other rolls are gonna take. Took another 10 mins for the rolls to arrive. All in all the waiting is probably going to keep us from going back. Even the table that came after us had gotten their food. The server gave a 10% discount but it really didnt do much for a pregnant lady to get food after 1.5 hrs. Rolls - The experience ranged from bad tasting to potentially compromised fish. The tuna and salmon rolls were extremely fishy in addition to an odor that was worrisome enough that I had to throw them away. The remaining rolls were bad, seemed low quality and/or bad recipes. Hot Entrees - The General Tso's and the chicken nuggets were mediocre at best. Edible, but not great. Soups - Fine and probably the best thing out of the total order.
