We were visiting family in the area, and it happened to be someone's birthday. It's a family tradition to get Hibachi during special occasions, and our usual spot in the area didn't have any reservations available... so we made a reservation at Kobe. The atmosphere here is very casual. It's definitely not a fancy Hibachi Steakhouse... more of a casual Asian restaurant. Service was hit or miss. Our chef was a funny guy but the waitresses were very busy in gossip and it was hard to flag them down. Everyone was pretty polite, though. The food was good but not great. The soup was bland, but the salad was typical delicious Hibachi salad. The entrees were good but the proteins were a bit overdone and the noodles were slick with grease. Everything could have used more seasoning as well. The ice cream they gave us was a tiny portion and freezer-burnt as well. Considering I don't live in the area, I don't think I'd be back. Next time when I'm visiting family, I will try our typical spot for reservations. Not a terrible place but not worth the price. read more

It looked super empty and kinda gave me a bad feeling. The food was great we did all you can eat. Sushi was great. The service was absolute GARBAGE. I CAN SEE WHY PEOPLE DONT COME HERE. The server was rude and rushed us to get something to drink. After we finished a first round of sushi he came back saying "Are you getting more sushi or not" and I said "yes, just finishing up my edemame". He leaves and came back after a minute and said "ready?" And snatched our paper as we were trying to hand it to him. At the end of it all we didn't receive refills on our drinks. We got our check and were charged a 18% service charge. I was confused. I can understand if for a part of 6 or more but it was only 2 of us. I asked hime and said "we do it to everyone not just you" and I said "okay I don't care if you do it to everyone you didn't let me know" and said "It was on the menu" and I said "it's not written on the all you can eat menu" and he then pulls out the regular menu and shows me at the end of it written in small text. Let me remind you its my first time and I never got to see the menu. They didn't let me take it off and just talked to the rest of his coworkers giggling. I will never return here because of this. This restaurant has by far the worse service. The servers are rude, unwelcoming and give terrible service. They hardly check up on you. They give out one napkin per person when my bill is well over $100 it's assumed I have a lot of food and need more than one napkin. On top of the terrible service, they have a 18 percent gratuity that they hide in the fine print which is why they probably don't care about give exceptional service. The chef are nice and awesome but not even worth going with how rude management and service. read more

My friend and I walked into kobe on a Friday night, the front server did not even greet us. They were slammed with to go orders and the restaurant half full. We wait like 6 minutes to be greeted and was told to wait 10 minutes which we did. We were sat with another group, and the sat another 15 minutes with no drinks and no one taking orders or looking at us. We walked out and went to Buffalo wild wings down the road and got drinks and sat down right away. Our server Jack was very attentive to our needs, my glass was never empty and he would politely wait for my family to finish a conversation before asking us if we need anything. Don't eat at this place , We went yesterday afternoon and we were seated and rushed to order. Once our appetizer came out and the hibachi began the waiter came around to take our salad and soup and we weren't even done. That wasn't the worst thing of it all . The cook became saying very racist things in Spanish and keep talking to me and my sister calling us " mamacita" which was very uncomfortable. Once the hibachi was done our original waiter never came back so another waiter was helping us out. Food wasn't all that either. We received the check and they had added 18% gratitude and it was only 4 of us. I went up to talk to the boss and stated their menus says 18% is added on party's more the 6 people. We kept going back and he finally removed the amount. When I paid i signed off and didn't put tip amount because we were gonna leave cash and the guy said I mandatory to leave a tip , and I mentioned tips are not an obligation. My wife and I tried this for the first time and found a hidden gem. The restaurant itself is dated and not the most elegant, but the food and mai tais make up for it. The chefs are good at the performance, and cook the food to perfection. They also do sesame noodles and fried rice which is nice. The sesame sauce is worth the price alone. So I think I messed this one up! Apparently they do in AYCE Sushi in house for $22! Well I ordered delivery while house sitting in Algonquin. I ordered 2 maki rolls and some red bean mochi which ran me $31 (though this included the $3 delivery fee & $5 tip). Yea, I messed up. I would recommend eating at the restaurant if you're going to do Kobe to get that money worth! haha That being said, their rolls were pretty good. I had the Sweet Potato Roll, a bargain at $4.95 and done just right with no frills but it was quite tasty. I also tried the Sweet Heart Roll for $12.95. Spicy tuna & avocado wrapped inside pink soy paper, topped with tuna and the chef's special sauce...which was yellow & tasted kind of mango-ish? Overall, I enjoyed this roll but the tuna it was topped with was very meh...clearly not the freshest but by no means bad. I think I would stick to ordering rolls from Kobe and probably stay away from ordering just sashimi or nigiri. As mentioned, I also ordered Red Bean Mochi for $4 which came in a nice little container with two tasty pieces. All in all, I was happy with my delivery from Kobe and particularly enjoyed the sweet potato roll. This authentic Japanese restaurant has good, pretty fresh sushi. Many rolls, though, feature tempura shrimp or fried fish. Their eel is over marinated and soggy. You can gauge sushi quality by the firmness and the color and sheen of fish. If soggy, it's been frozen too long or multiple times. If almost transparent color or plastic sheen especially (for white fish), it's been chemically treated. Their tuna is firm but a dull red color. But the sauces and prep are very good. read more

Haven't been there for a while. The first time we went was really good. We decided to go for my birthday. Walked in and noticed a disgusting couch for people to sit on that was flaking off and needs replacement. The counter is taped together because the formica fell off. The front area mat was unclean. I immediately felt like leaving, and should have. We ordered a RARE filet and sides with no onions for my husband ( had to say no onions about 5 times after constantly being asked) and I ordered medium steak and shrimp. The chef gave my husband a hard time about giving him teriyaki sauce because it had onions??? The chef consistently splashed hot oil our way while flipping food on the grill, he dropped the egg trying to do his trick. My husband's steak was well done, so was mine (to the point where it was so over done it had an odd texture) and the onions in my side were raw when he put them on my plate. Very disappointing and will never go back. Not a good birthday meal and wouldn't recommend this place. read more

Not terrible for an all-you-can-eat sushi place, but it's definitely not the best around...... or really all that good all the time. Some rolls are awesome but not consistently made, like they'll forget the sauce on a roll one time and something else the next. Or in one of my 3 visits they used a different (pretty terrible) wrapper for their rangoons. On the plus side, I've never had a bad piece of fish here. It seems like they buy and use decent fish and I'd never hesitate to eat here. We weren't sure what to expect here because it's located in an older strip mall across from the mall but we are so glad we gave it a chance because it was fantastic! This is officially our favorite hibachi/sushi restaurant in Blo-No! The hibachi is delicious and so fresh! The sushi is also wonderful and we have Door Dashed it several times since the first time we ate there and it's great every single time! We have had the hibachi steak, chicken, and shrimp and all of them were cooked to perfection! They also have the yellow dipping sauce that our entire family loves with our hibachi. And if you happen to be celebrating a birthday when you're there-get ready for a party! They turn the lights off, turn on disco lights, sing to you, and place a Kobe headband on you! I did try reaching out to the restaurant directly but it's been over a week and I have not heard back about our experience. We were seated promptly when we got there we waited over 40 minutes to even have anybody come to the table to greet us or take a drink order. The salad and soup or was not what I expected the soup was more just like salty water. The food was OK. Our hibachi chef didn't do any kind of show at all he just cooked our food he hardly even talked to anybody at our table. I do realize that everybody is short staffed these days but there is no excuse not to greet a customer especially when they're spending the kind of money that we did. I don't think we will be returning. I was disappointed because I know a lot of people who enjoy Kobe. The cook dropped the piece of broccoli he was going to toss into my husband's mouth on the raw chicken and then still tossed it. Luckily it missed. My husband is too polite to say anything. Then there was a short black hair in my lobster. I understand it happens but when they took my plate I lost my fried rice, shrimp appetizer and noodles with the lobster. They brought new lobster but by then I kind of lost my appetite. They still charged for my entire meal, including the up charge for rice I barely got to eat. They didn't even offer a dessert ‍. This may be a case of my expectations being too high.... I thought this place was "A-ok" but nothing to write home about. What do I mean? I've read and heard so many good things, that I kind of expected to be bowled over by the quality, especially in comparison to where we typically go (Suchi Station). Overall, the food was good - perfecty fine. Service was not fantastic. The decor was worn. Start with the food: We did the Sunday to Thursday "all you can eat" special for $20/person - which, we think, is a good deal. You pick from a more limited menu - but there's still lots of choice. There are rules - like you have to eat what you order, leftovers are added to your bill, etc. This put my husband off - however, I see the sense of it, and they are *very* upfront about it, so I thought it was fine. (You can also choose to order a la carte.) Everything we ordered was good. Tempura vegetables were a little bland. The Michigan roll seemed a bit fishy to me. Overall though, I'm not sure we were getting significantly better sushi than at our normal haunt. Service: Meh - I've had better. The hostess was ok - not very communicative - she asked us what we wanted, and then just kinda walked away without letting us know what she was doing - were we to follow her? wait there? Turned out we needed to wait while she cleaned a table. Our server was inattentive - brought us food, but nothing to eat it with - had to hail him down to get chopsticks. He seemed a bit grumpy - but he did improve as the meal progressed, so not sure what was going on with him. Decor - the bar is a enamel-type black paint and had chips in it - and this is just fine - kinda adds to the character of the place - however, the big gouges in the wall with bare spots from chairs was unsightly - and I got to stare at it the whole meal, at our poorly located table. (Honestly, we got the worst table in the place - and there were other tables open.) One thing that was very cute and welcoming - they have a whole wall of snapshots - presumably of happy customers, and I suspect birthday celebrators. Would I recommend - Not sure... yeah, probably, with caveats. Would I return - yeah, if it was convenient to do so. Probably wouldn't go out of the way to go there. read more

Kobe, you're slipping. We have been coming here awhile and this most recent trip was not good. We arrived at 6PM to just a smattering of customers. I had my thirteen year old with me and we wanted hibachi. He likes the show and and I like the food. We were seated with others at the grill. Long and short is that the customers across from us got their hibachi cooked, the diners at another table got theirs going and meanwhile we wait. And wait. The kid is hungry, my girlfriend is ready to eat and I'm getting impatient. When one of the two cooks becomes available he starts cooking on the grill in front of us. That was nearly 7:00.
