The Feeling boogie cheddar grits were cooked perfectly the langoustine was cooked perfectly. My sister and I stopped by Little Riggs for Sunday brunch before taking her to the train station to head back to Hartford. I'd seen this place recommended on Yelp a few times but had never made it over until today. [[HIGHLIGHT]]When we walked in, we honestly thought they were closed because there was only one four-top occupied and one person sitting at the bar.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We grabbed a table for two, and I started with a mimosa while my sister ordered a coffee before eventually joining me with a mimosa. She had the OG breakfast sandwich, a classic that really hit the spot. I ordered the Madame Monsieur with fries, and everything was cooked perfectly. The food tasted fresh and made to order, which is always appreciated. Our server, Angelina, also made an excellent mimosa the orange juice to Prosecco ratio was just right (a small detail that makes a big difference!). Service was on the slower side, but from what we could tell, Angelina was the only server working, so it was understandable. After searching for a restaurant for dinner tonight and me wanting a lobster roll, my boyfriend and I decided on Little Riggs. Got the lobster roll and man got the Thai Fighter Burger. My lobster was tasty as all lobster is. I can't do gluten and they don't offer gluten free buns so I just ate the lobster meat and fries. The butter on the lobster was very different. Thick. Corn buerre blanc sauce. I still don't know how I feel about it but to me lobster doesn't need a thick sauce on it. Also, it said MP on the menu upon arrival but online one menu said $34 and their actual website said $40. It was $52 tonight. Are you EFFING KIDDING ME?! Never in my life have I seen a lobster roll be $52. This place has no business charging that. We go out to eat all the time to very nice places and have never paid that. I'm not even sure where to start. Overall, this was a terrible experience. [[HIGHLIGHT]]We walked in around 11:30 on a Sunday for brunch, and the restaurant was literally empty. It was just me, my girlfriend, and the staff.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We ordered two drinks and then waited nearly 20 minutes for them to arrive. The drinks were fine, but the bill came to $37. That's not shocking for a restaurant in Branford, but waiting 20 minutes for two drinks in an empty restaurant is. What really stood out was when our server came over to take our food order and said something along the lines of, "I figured I'd come take your order before I make your drinks." At that point, we'd already been waiting about 15 minutes. In an empty restaurant, we should have been ordering our second round by then--not still waiting for our first. I wish I could comment on the food because the menu actually looked pretty good. Unfortunately, after seeing how long it took just to get two drinks, there was no chance we were going to sit there and wait what was likely going to be an hour or more for breakfast. My girlfriends and I decided to meet here for a catch-up brunch so it was a first visit for all of us. They take reservations, which makes complete sense as there's somewhat limited parking and it's pretty small inside. I went with my girlfriend group for one of their birthday celebrations. The service was not good and the food was not good. I ordered the steak frites - my steak was inedible with way too much salt and fat in it and the fries came cold. The first bite instantly had me thinking about my creole roots & all the good food I eat when I go & visit Louisiana because that's how good these grits were. The only thing I would've appreciated even more would've been some nicely seared shrimp & a bit of red eye gravy but the hot sauce set it off appropriately! Had an enjoyable breakfast at Little Riggs on a Saturday morning. The food was perfectly balanced - fresh, flavorful and filling without being heavy. Had a nice Tequila Sunrise cocktail to complement my meal. There was only one person taking care of the front of the house with some occasional support from the people in the kitchen. It can be challenging for one person to seat people, take orders, bring the food out, bus tables, AND make the drinks, so we inevitably had to deal with a bit of wait time. It also took quite a bit of time for the food to come out, but we can tell it was because a lot of love and attention was put into preparing the meals. I'll take quality over speed any day. I really hope this place is here to stay, and they have enough business where they can comfortably add some extra staff to deal with the timeliness issue. Until then, I probably wouldn't be coming here to eat with a group, but I could definitely see this place as a great go-to spot for 1-2 people looking to relax with drinks and a delicious breakfast/brunch! read more

Just came here for dinner! It's been great to see the place and their menu grow from just breakfast on weekends to all three meals on more days. We ordered a bunch of food to share and everything was great - croquettes, chicken and waffles, pork belly Mac and cheese, insalada di Roma. They also have their liquor license now and have some great wine selections. We were told beer will also be available in the new year. The owner came over to chat with us for a bit and it was great to hear more about his vision and experiences. Little Riggs sits on the edge of the Stuart, McKinney National Wildlife refuge on the Long Island Sound. Riggs opened 6 months ago from Chef John Kronfeld, who operated the very successful breakfast truck, The Chef Truck, until he opened Little Riggs, transitioning his uniquely delicious breakfast menu into a sit down experience. To call this place a hidden gem isn't wrong, but this clichéd term is a tad overused these days... It's like a half buried treasure. Among the locals it isn't buried at all, and they have taken it by storm. This little outpost that seats just 30 in the wintertime, is slightly larger than a hole in the wall and certainly significantly more elevated. It's the type of place you want to go to for a leisurely comforting breakfast on a Sunday morning. But it's not just a breakfast joint, offering significantly more than just morning fare, and lucky for us who do love his breakfast menu, we can now enjoy it beyond traditional breakfast hours. Kronfeld has launched dinner service this week, and we will be the first in line. It was the purchase of a little food truck, The Chef Truck, in 2020 that would change the trajectory of Kronfeld's story. We all know what happened that year and yet, in spite of it all, Covid had been quite good to this little restaurant on wheels. The Chef Truck served customers from the parking lot of The Friki Tiki seasonal cocktail bar, and served guests who willingly stood on long lines for his unique and delicious breakfast menu. Fast forward to 2023. The property for the little tiki bar was up for sale, and Little Riggs was born in July of 2023. The menu is simple - Light Fare, Full plates, Sweet Starts, and Sammi's. Though the menu is small in size, it's huge in creativity and flavor. Every dish, and every name on the menu is a story unto itself. We started with a piping bowl of Sunny Side Grits, made with organic corn, white cheddar, beef lardons, Redeye hot sauce, scallions and a fried egg. These were by far the best grits I have had up in these parts - pure comfort and velvety smooth. The beef lardons were crispy without grizzle. The Sweet Corn Waffles are truly otherworldly. Everything Kronfeld creates is familiar until it isn't. Let's talk about the B-B-B-Benny. Everybody knows Eggs Benedict. This is so subtly and yet so wildly different. Here, two perfectly steamed eggs sit on top of delicious sweet corn waffles, topped with delicate slices of prosciutto, the familiar Hollandaise sauce and some micro greens for a lovely burst of color. Absolutely adorable new neighborhood spot! Love what they did with the space and especially nice to have outdoor seating (puppy friendly!) Seems to still be working out the kinks and with having a small kitchen, service can be slow. But boy is the food worth it, especially the falafel wrap! Went to Little Riggs last night to celebrate a birthday and our entire group (6) was blown away! We shared the Beets, Mac and Cheese, Spring Rolls, and Arancini for appetizers which were all fantastic. Two of our six people HATE beets, but they both changed their stance after trying Little Rigg's. The flavors of all of the dishes worked perfectly. Now the burgers. AMAZING. I personally had the Pickle Back and let me tell you, the meat was seasoned perfectly and clearly a high quality, great bun, perfectly pickled red onions, and probably the BEST BACON I HAVE EVER HAD on top. The bacon the chef makes for this burger is better than the thick cut bacon at a high end steak house. This is such a little gem! Our food has been consistently fantastic all three times. Once at the bar, once for brunch and last night for dinner. We shared the white bean spread which is so flavorful and the bread it's served with is so crispy, and just holds up with the spread so nicely! The Mac and cheese is to die for! Not something I normally indulge in but such a classic favorite! And the best burger in town, by far! Oh my goodness it was seasoned perfectly, cooked to perfection and the fries.... Perfect! What a hidden gem and wonderful addition to the Shoreline. We stopped here on a Sunday morning on our way home from Rhode Island, I believe this was once a food truck and have now since opened up a brick and mortar, thankful they did! Place is very cozy inside, not a lot of seating. We walked in mid-morning, did not have a wait. We were greeted by our wonderful server who answered any questions we had and provided great suggestions. I got the Hangover Sandwich while my wife got the B-B-B Bernie. My sandwich was incredible, tasty sausage patty, muenster cheese, crispy hash brown, Bloody Mary ketchup (cool concept) finished on a delicious bahn mi roll, highly recommend! My wife's dish had 2 steamed eggs with hollandaise served over some sweet corn waffles which they raved about, she loved her dish. My first visit was not a very good one. Even though I parked between 2 lines and there was only 1 other car in the whole lot, the owner told me I was not in a parking spot and had to go back out and move my car! We ordered 2 breakfasts and were told the coffee maker was acting up and he could only offer us water. It was 63° inside even though people were complaining and since it never got warmer, the heat was not working either. We waited 35+ minutes for our breakfast to come out! Then came some coffee, there were only 5 other diners in the whole restaurant. The food was good, the inside was nicely done, the server was like his first day in the job. Don't walk - run to check out this gem of a restaurant down near the water in Branford. We had an amazing breakfast today -- this is soulful food with a gourmet twist. Definitely French accents. The breakfast wrap was by far the best I've ever had. It was called - Wild Child and it was fantastic. The tasty wrap had a thin layer of golden hash brown potato, perfectly cooked scrambled eggs and bacon but what made it unique was a delicious aoli and watercress layer that was to die for. Every bite was an adventure. My daughter had an equally tasty sandwich called The Hangover -- that she loved. Our waitress Libby was terrific and we met the chef who really is a culinary wiz. No pretentious BS just a guy who treats the kitchen like a laboratory - whipping up one creation after another. Listen foodies - we need to keep this restaurant alive and kicking. I'm going back tomorrow to sample some more magic -- one final thought - the muffin of the day was a perfect bake mixing banana and peanut with a light honey butter. I can honestly say I have not been served such delicious grits since visiting the Deep South in places like Charleston, Birmingham and Savannah. Absolutely out of this world great. A perfect plate of food. Their delicious coffee and the friendly, enthusiastic service helped round out my experience.
