    Banana Pecan Pancakes
    Diane W.

Came here with a friend who is local. I grew up on Long Island, so I definitely appreciate a good Greek diner, athis place was it. We came for a late lunch, so it wasn't too busy and we were quickly seated. Elizabeth was our server, and she was great, very attentive and I've never said this before in a review, but really pretty ( forgive my unprofessional comment). Anyway, my friend ordered her favorite here, banana pecan pancakes. They looked amazing and the bite I had was amazing! I ordered the vegetarian platter because I couldn't decide on having just spanakopita. It was delicious, especially the dolmades ( stuffed grape leaves). The spanakopita was flakey and yummy, and I devoured the entire meal ( except for the onions). My husband got the chicken souvlaki and it too was delicious ( needed to get some more protein). There were plenty of dessert options, but we were too full. They also have a loyalty program. Would definitely return if I am back in the area.

Bacon, Avocado, Tomato and Cheese Sandwich Breakfast. Delicious

Came here for breakfast and had it with the corn beef hash. The hash was so good. I could have made a meal just on the hash. Large helpings of food for a reasonable price. Good service and plenty of parking.

I was looking for a place with good breakfast options and this diner came out in my list. I'm not a fan of diners but this place makes me realize how good food can be if it's made with good quality. We arrived to the restaurant in the morning and already have some people eating there. We started with some coffee and the quality of the coffee was excellent. Then we ordered some omelets and pancakes. The omelets were delicious and the pancakes super fluffy. Our omelets came with a lots of ingredients. Our waiter was very nice and helpful. We noticed that they have a good selection of pastries that we could not try but they all look delicious.

Just look at that cappuccino! It really is perfect lol. This place is cash only, however goto the ATM and get extra money just in case. The menu is large and delicious!

Turkey and watered mash potatoes from the wet corn they dumped on top instead of using a separate container ,

Ordered the turkey dinner, it came in a small cheap tinfoil container with everything mixed together . Smeared , , the turkey the mash potatoes were covered in corn carrots , the stuffing soaked from the wet corn / carrot veggies , they dumped on top of the meal , instead of using a small seoerate container for the watery corn never again from here

What a great experience. It's a busy Sunday morning and it's packed, but our host seated us promptly and our server was a wonderful and gracious woman with great sense of humor. The extensive menu made it difficult to choose but a Tito's bloody Mary got us on the road to eggs Benedict and a.Jess bowl, filled with brown rice, avocado, tomato and a couple of poached (to perfection) eggs. I'm not sure which was better.. [[HIGHLIGHT]]There is plenty of seating, spacious dining. You don't feel cramped like you can in cute bistros.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

The Parthenon is pretty solid. Got takeout recently as the diner closest to us really has gone down hill and wanted some diner food. I had my usual BEC and home fries. The BEC was great! Two eggs too! Homefries were shredded hasbrowns which was a nice change! My finance had pancakes bacon and an English muffin and enjoyed his meal too.

A very nice diner with a full bar. We were greeted right away, and taken to our booth. Our server was a little aggressive with the way he spoke to us, but he was like that even with his regulars. He didn't make eye contact at any point. I had probably what I consider the best corned beef hash in all of CT! Perfectly seasoned, and crispy! The one thing about the diners here in CT, is that they give a LOT of food! Throughout our meal our server redeemed himself as I listened to him interact with his other customers. They must really like him there. He even started to be friendly with us. That is ... until the end ... I would have left 5 stars, but I took one away when he reached over my food (I was still picking at it) to grab his tip. You never reach over to grab your tip. We took that as a hint to leave, so we did. The food is great. We'll be in the area all summer for work, and will most definitely be back.

Not a particularly good cappuccino. But also i wasn't expecting a particularly good cappuccino...

So! This is my very first diner review....Get Excited!! (??) The reason is that I OWN a diner. I'm the (only) cook at my diner. And I am, shall we say, particular, about how diner food is done at my place. But also? Because I spent A LOT, A LOT of my time working/living/eating in a diner I don't tend to seek a diner out in my "down time." But I was down in CT visiting my parents and Dad wanted pancakes so we went to The Parthenon Diner. First Off: I LOVE a Greek Diner. No. Really. I get DOWN with that crazy*** approach to dining: ALL THE THINGS YOU MIGHT EVER CONCEIVABLY WANT ON ONE MENU!!! Greek Diner is my personal kind of twisted. Also? The Parthenon Diner is BEAUTIFUL. It is a STUNNINGLY GORGEOUS retro kind of diner inside. With comfy booths and chrome and all the fun stuff. So I give marks for that. FABULOUS decor. FABULOUS setting. Music they're piping in is pure trash. No. Really. Like wtf. EVERY server was fantastic! Excellent vibes. Good service. Which is weird because the guy who I assume is the owner (or one of the owners...) is at the front guarding all the liquor and the espresso machine (???) and EVERYONE has to go to this middle aged dude to pay. Only HE is allowed to cash anyone out. So let me just take this moment to say: Any restaurant that operates like this?? HOSTILE WORKPLACE. I don't know who this dude is, but he needs to STEP AWAY. He does NOT belong in the food service industry. And here is why: he doesn't trust anyone who works for him and treats them like they're all fixing to rob him of something...who knows what....; (B) he appears to be INCREDIBLY unhappy. Never cracks a smile. It's a bad look/vibe. I would NEVER allow one of my people to act the way this guy does; (C) he is RUDE. As in he's ringing people out while also one the phone. Because maybe he thinks no one who works for him is capable of answering the phone?? Do NOT be on the phone while you are also supposedly serving me. I would NEVER NEVER NEVER allow anyone who works for me to be on the phone AND waiting on someone.d Postscript: I would be SHOCKED if the waitstaff here got all their credit card tips. I 110% do not trust that this dude, with his control complex, is gibing everyone all their tips....I WORK IN THIS INDUSTRY. Gross. So yes, I say ALL that. And I would likely rather give this spot a 3.5. But that's not an option. So I am giving a full 4 stars and also giving you the info you need to understand those 4 stars.... I do need to come back and eat Greek items. I tried as many things as I could and that ended up with me not ordering anything Greek because I wanted Fish Tacos!! Portions are LARGE! (Which is excellent!!) Prices are very good/reasonable/cheap.Which always makes me wonder/try to figure out how you can do that. At The Parthenon they're doing a decent volume AND they serve liquor (which is a MONEY MAKER). But! Prices are reasonable for all the reasons that prices for food are cheap: The ketchup is pure trash. I'm here to tell you that there is a difference in ketchup and Heinz is the ONLY way to go. PAY FOR THE HEINZ! The fries at The Parthenon are AWESOME. But the ketchup is pure garbage because they're cutting corners... The silverware. No. Really. Your forks and spoon and knife?? Cheapest garbage available at the supply store. I know, because I refuse to buy them. I mean. Probably most people aren't as weird as me. But I HATE to eat with cheap as hell forks... Pancakes: Good size. They're fine. They're just from a boxed mix. Meh. $2 extra for "real Vermont maple syrup." Fine, it's Connecticut. Charge more for the read deal. But Dad did get so-called "real deal" and I kinda researched. I don't think it's real at all. Look. I am FROM Vermont. I OWN A VERMONT DINER. I buy gallons and gallons of actual Vermont Maple Syrup from a multi generation farm RIGHT IN MY OWN TOWN. The stuff being served here is NOT legit. Which probably doesn't matter to anyone but me... Corned Beef Hash: large portion, properly browned. Very bland. Menu claims "house made." As someone who spends DAYS making corned beef hash I do believe they cook up some corned briskets and then mix them with canned hash...very meh... However! Butternut Squash Hash?? OMG. Life changing. YES!!! I have a full vegan menu at my spot and I IWLL be stealing this idea (and, of course, tweaking it...). Acceptable Caesar Salad. REALLY GOOD fish tacos! Totally enjoyed them. And, in all honesty, I only ordered them to prove the point that they were better than the "trendy" (and really NOT GOOD AT ALL) Mexican spot we ate at the night before. Seriously though. That place was trash... Eat at The Parthenon Diner! TELL The owner/manager dude to GET TF OFF the phone while he is ringing you out! Tip your server in cash!! (I def don't believe servers are getting all their credit card tips at a joint like this one...!!)

Classic diner fare with a Greek twist. I take frequent drives between MA and New Haven and this is a go-to place to stop for a late dinner.

Immediately I went on the Yelp app to see the reviews and mostly all of them were positive except quite a few people complained about how long they waited for their food. Well, they were legitimate complaints. Me and my wife waited roughly 45 - 50 minutes for 2 egg platters. The part that upset me was the people that walked in after us and sat at the counter were served before us. Basically the cook (owner) served his normal customers first. If it wasn't for the long wait time I would've easily scored Bob's 5 stars but 45 - 50 minutes for eggs will deter me from going back.

The view as you can see from the photo is lovely, and you can see the commuter rail when it occasionally comes through. There is also a police station next door so you get a Birds Eye view when officers are getting off shift. Pancakes here are so good. I'd say 98% of breakfast places have pancakes that disappoint but not these. Since I wasn't sure, I let the kids order them instead since they will eat anything as long as there is maple syrup on it. We ordered them a short stack of blueberry pancakes to share and added on real maple syrup. They were golden and not too thick or heavy. They had to pay the "mom tax" of sharing some with me. My husband ordered eggs, home fries and bacon and the bacon was also perfectly done- something else that we don't often find. This place is charming, there was what sounded like some 80s post-punk playing softly, our server was charming (French accented too perhaps?) and we hope to be back some day!

Since it was a weekend, only breakfast options were available on the menu and some items are more expensive than they would be during the week. Inside is typical diner decor with clear plastic over the wood tables. The food was good, but everything else was disappointing. First is the noise. Not only is there lots of yelling between the staff, the music was incredibly loud and obnoxious. The staff generally were not very friendly. Our server was visibly short when taking our order and following up, but spent time chatting with regulars at the counter, so it wasn't due to being busy. My son was actually so stressed by her and the overall vibe in the restaurant that he rushed through his meal so we could leave quickly. In hindsight, there are a number of earlier yelp reviews that call out friendliness and get a harsh response from the owner/manager, so I fully expect one here. Point is, unless you're a regular, don't expect much warmth. Coming back to the food, everything our party ordered tasted great and there were mostly empty plates when we left. I really like seeded rye toast with my eggs, but they don't have it as an option. Prices were in the $10-15 range if you don't order something with meat. In summary, a loud diner with solid food and hurried vibe.

"I'll go back to the diner I'll write another letter…read moreI hope you'll read it this time" (Billie Eilish) I kind of laughed when our server brought over our menus. They were in a heavy book (reminded me of a high school yearbook) with six pages of choices plus an insert of daily specials. Post Road is the kind of diner that diner lovers dream of. Their menu is an embarrassment of riches and would seamlessly fit in alongside anything you would find on the Sunrise Highway on Long Island or on Route 17 in New Jersey. Three of us walked in around 11:30am today, and our first order of business was deciding if we'd go for lunch or breakfast food. We all went for breakfast plates- pancakes ($9.99) with a side of scrambled eggs ($2.99), GF Pancakes ($12.98), and for me a "Protein Breakfast" ($13.99) and a coffee ($3.49). So, I'm sure you're asking, "what on earth is a protein breakfast?' Well, it was four egg whites, a few gorgeous tomato slices, and a nice piece of grilled chicken. It was pretty filling and everything tasted great. Our server was efficient and professional and swiftly brought over a "to go" box for the excess of those enormous pancakes. The dining room is awesome, a real throwback to the 1950's with plenty of old-time booths, art deco neon signs, checkerboard ceramic tile, and music\entertainment\pop culture images everywhere. We really enjoyed our visit !
