Loved Arturo's! I was a little skeptical of the concept (Mexican and Italian fusion), but was pleasantly surprised by how well it worked. It is a small space. Homey with a touch of elegance. On the day we went it seemed there was family in the restaurant which was nice to see. The service was fast and friendly. We went for brunch and my omelet and cappuccino were exactly what I was looking for that morning. They have specials on Tuesdays and Wednesdays 4-8 for drinks and apps. Thursday they have a special which includes a salad entree and dessert for around $30 which I'm hoping to try soon. Highly recommend. read more

We both had egg & cheese sandwiches which came on a fresh bun with a side of hash browns. The hash browns are the only reason this isn't a four star review they are mixed with peppers and are undercooked and a bit slimy, not at all good. When we asked for advice about which items to order, he gave us fun and smart counsel! We sat outside on a beautiful summer night. We did not sit in the dining room, which is immaculately clean, though not my particular taste in terms of decor. It's very modern. The menu has some really eclectic choices. We opted for a roasted fig appetizer, which was a special on the night we were there. The figs were stuffed with cheese, roasted, wrapped in prosciutto, and drizzled with balsamic. They were melt in your mouth delicious. My husband had the homemade gnocchi topped with burrata, and he opted to add some meatballs to his order. All of it was outstanding, most especially the meatballs. I ordered the stuffed chicken that was drizzled with pesto sauce. And I will be honest I can't wait to order it again. I was solo on a Saturday and looking for a spot for brunch and found this little unassuming gem. You could easily miss it if you're not paying attention as it's in a little spot with a few other businesses. When I walked in, I was greeted by a lovely woman who seated me. The restaurant decor is beautiful. A young man, I believe his name was Juan, came to take my drink and food order. I ordered a mimosa, which had fresh squeezed o.j., and the veggie omelette with a side of bacon. I wasn't crazy about the shredded potatoes, but the omelette was good and the bacon was cooked nice and crisp. I also tried the classic margarita which was delicious. I was having a late breakfast/brunch with friends in Branford on a Saturday and consulted Yelp for recommendations. This place is actually called Arturo's? The menu has so many options for sandwiches, omelettes and eggs Benedict. I ordered the crab eggs Benedict and one friend ordered a traditional eggs Benedict. The other two girls ordered the chilaquiles. I had a hard time deciding what to order because there were so many options and everything sounded really good. There are a lot of traditional Mexican dishes and ingredients. The only thing I didn't like was the coffee; we all ordered iced coffee's, and they were pretty watered down. Next time, I will order the hot coffee. The service was very good. Our waitress checked in on us often and was very polite and friendly. My sisters and I went to breakfast at the spot. It was a cute, quaint and nicely decorated restaurant with a full bar. I thoroughly enjoyed my Chilaquiles! They had a choice between green or red sauce and I went for the red sauce, which actually was very spicy just like I like it! I tried my sister's crab Benedict dish and it was quite tasty as well. I wouldn't say lumps of crab meat, but seasoned nicely! English muffin with toasted perfectly as well. One of the highlights is the homemade shredded hashbrowns. Seasoned to perfection. Not great! I made a reservation for 2, and when the hostess seated us, she asked if there were more people coming. I said no, I made a reservation for 2. The only table available was a 4 top. She sat us and asked again if there were more people arriving. I told her I made the reservation for 2 people and then showed her my online reservation for 2. She looked utterly confused and walked away. Our waiter was fine and so was the food but we were leered at by the staff the entire length of our dining experience. Our waiter seemed to be trying over the top to make a positive impression. It was just akward. They have enough food runners to take plates away and deliver food that you are literally being watched the entire time. The food was good, but the vibe in this little place was not comfortable at all. The tables are situated to slap as many people into this small space as possible. I've been hearing about Arturo's for quite a while because my dad works nearby and is a regular for lunch, so my fiancé made a visit out for dinner! We didn't realize that the chef had been the head chef at Tre Scalini for years and that the menu here featured a variety of both Mexican and Italian dishes - so cool! One of the things that stood out most to us here were the Mexican meatballs, which we really enjoyed! I liked that depending on which entree you order, you either get an Italian or Mexican side salad. The veal parm was fantastic, and the lamb birria was very good and even had a little kick! Great cocktails, desserts, and Mexican chocolate. The food came out quickly, and the chef/owner made an effort to come to tables and check in with those dining in his restaurant. First, let me say that Arturo's is a small, independent, chef owned, family operated business. THOSE are the types of restaurants I search out and try to support and you should too!! They are ALWAYS going to be better food and a better experience than any chain or corporate-owned place. Trust Me... I started following Arturo's Restaurant on Instagram during Covid Lockdown when my sister told me there was someone in Branford doing Mexican Breakfast (Yes Please!), but I didn't get there until last night (July 19, 2022). In actuality what Arturo's is doing is Breakfast, Lunch AND Dinner. The menu is half Italian and half Mexican (hard for me to imagine a better cuisine combination actually). Chef Arturo was the Head Chef at Tre Scalini Italian restaurant in New Haven, CT for 24 yrs. Right before Covid he opened his own restaurant and survived Lockdown doing take out. And Thank God he did!! The place is small (but very nice inside) and in a very unassuming location in a little office park type spot close to Exit 54 off I-95. There is also plenty of outdoor seating which turned out to be delightful. We went as a party of 6 and ordered as many things off the menu as possible, heavy on the Mexican choices (it's going to take me MULTIPLE visits in order to work my way through all Arturo's menus, but I am here for the challenge!). Food came out so fresh and PIPING hot. You have to be careful about diving right in...if your food is something fried give it a moment to COOL DOWN!! Service was paced PERFECTLY. We were not rushed, nor were we waiting. We ate 4 courses and they came at just the right times for us to enjoy and eat everything. Pacing a multi course dinner takes skill and attention. Arturo's NAILED it. Highlights! Ricotta Stuffed Fried Zucchini Flowers App: WONDERFUL! It's been years since I've had fried Zucchini Flowers, because where was I going to get them?? And they are extremely seasonal. Served with the house marinara sauce, which is delicious. Marinara sauce is the sign of the quality of an Italian Restaurant: So simple, but so often not good. Arturo's Marinara is perfect. Guacamole App: entirely fresh, from scratch and served with The Best Pico de Gallo I have ever had in my life. I usually avoid Pico like the plague because it is so incredibly disappointing. Not THIS Pico. Beautiful, fresh, flavorful, with enough fresh jalapeños to give it a delightful little "kick." Accompanied by house made tortilla chips. Fried Mozzarella App: This had to be at least a pound of actual, fresh Mozzarella, breaded and then fried. Topped with the delicious House Marinara. This was CRAZY!!!! Soooooo good. This what God meant when she invented Fried Mozzarella. Not those HORRENDOUS, preformed, frozen sticks.... Penne alla Vodka. I ordered a "child portion" just so I could try it. This was clearly NOT the child portion. It was an entire pound of penne. Cooked PERFECTLY (do NOT be overcooking my pasta...) with a fantastic Vodka sauce. If I see Penne alla Vodka on a menu I will order it as my "test" Italian dish (although has to be vegetarian...since I don't eat Pork). This was perfect. And then Chef Arturo came out, presumably to actually lay on eyes on the crazy people who ordered Every Thing on the menu. SUPPORT this restaurant. You will not be disappointed. I honestly can't believe this place has 4.7 stars, this food was atrocious and the fact they charge $26 for enchiladas that are below Taco Bell standards is besides me, the mole sauce was spicy tomato paste over cheese enchiladas that was a cheese stick wrapped in tortilla, the crab was a pan fried bread ball, no crab was distinguishable in the not even a hint of crab flavor or with an over salted sauce. I stumbled upon this place and decided to give it a try. Their menu includes Italian and Mexican food and that's something I have not seen anywhere else. They don't have many options for vegetarians/vegans on their menu, but they readily accept any custom request and can whip up you a delicious meal. It's interesting that they serve breakfast, lunch and dinner here. The place is not very spacious but is very cute and beautiful. We got some chicken quesadillas, rice and beans, veggie taquitos, zucchini flowers and some meat dish (with steak). It's very rare that my whole family gets impressed with the food considering our differential food preferences. But this place impressed all of us alike. The best part was everything was made to order and they were offering any customization we requested like, "no cheese needed, ok, we will give you more veggies". Started with three appetizers. First one was calamari. It was fried to perfection, light (not oily) and tasty. The second appetizer was fried calamari New York style. It was spicy, with hot peppers, delicious. Fresh cheese ball with Italian ham and tomatoes, drizzled with balsamic vinegar . The saltiness of the ham was off set by the creaminess of the cheese. Main course was Swai Pizzaiola . The sauce over the fish gave it a nice flavor. They served hot crispy bread with the meal, along with d sweet butter. Dessert was bread pudding. It was dense, with nuts. Also very good . The food was 5 stars, but the room was noisy. Very small room, nothing in the room to absorb the noise. read more

Stumbled upon the gem of a place and I am so thankful I did! Amazing attention and service. The freshly brewed coffee was steaming hot, the way it's supposed to be! We decided on guacamole and chips and were excited when piping hot fresh chips arrived with delicious guacamole. One of us ordered the huevos rancheros and one ordered the carnitas tacos! We have been hearing about Arturos for some time now and decided we should give it a try. We made a reservation for a Saturday night. The restaurant is located in a commercial block of buildings, not the most scenic but we have learned to not judge by looks or locations. You enter the restaurant through a sliding patio door that opens right into the dining room and bar. The restaurant is small and intimate. It is clean and orderly but definitely cramped. The night we went the place was packed so we were happy to have reservations. We were shown to our table, given menus and we settled in. We immediately noticed that our favorite area bartender was now working here. That was a good sign of well mixed and delicious cocktails to come. We choose a pair of specialty cocktails, called senorita. The menu is divided between Italian cuisine and Mexican cuisine. There are apps and mains from both cuisines. A very interesting concept. Our drinks arrived and were excellent. We choose the New York style calamari to start and the shrimp fra diavolo and chicken mole enchiladas for our mains. A basket of warm, crusty bread with a dish of house made rosemary and truffle butter arrived and quickly disappeared. The noise level of the restaurant rose and fell throughout the meal. One downside of such a small venue is that when new diners arrived they were basically forced to hover by diners trying to enjoy their meals. Our app arrived fresh and hot. The sauce was tasty and was studded with a good number of spicy peppers. The calamari rings were a bit on the large side and just slightly tough. Each of our dinner entrées came with a side salad. They were tossed in a house dressing and had tortilla strips due to our meals coming off the Mexican side of the menu. Dinner arrived in a timely manner. I had the chicken enchiladas which came with a scoop of black beans and a serving of Mexican rice. The enchiladas were well filled and the mole was obviously house made and flavorful. The beans were a little on the dry side and rice was alright. My wife had the shrimp dish which had a generous amount of shrimp in a spicy sauce along with freshly sliced avocado and Mexican rice. The shrimp were well cooked and the sauce was good. We chose to complete our meals with a pair of dessert martinis, an espresso one for me and a pistachio one for my wife. Both drinks were top notch. It's Mexican and Italian and amazing. Risotto that I will be getting next time. Salmon prepared exactly the way my husband likes it. I had the best gnocci with a good sauce and fresh Mozzarella. She had a salad which was good as far as salads go, she said the vinaigrette was awesome. I had the tostadas... Pretty epic! First off they give you four which is difficult to eat even with my appetite. I ordered two fish tacos and two carnitas. After eating one fish taco I decided that I wanted to save the other one because it was so delicious and I started in on my first Carnitas taco, it was better than a fish taco and made me sad as I finished the first one knowing that I only had one left.
