This is my second experience with FlooringRVA. I first had hardwood flooring installed by them…read more(see my review on Yelp) and back in January 2018 I picked out and had carpet installed. It's now June so I've had time to settle in with my carpet and wanted to provide a review of the experience. I read lots of reviews and research things to death before I make a decision so I don't give people a high rating just to be "nice". I also consider myself to be be a little hard to please because I'm used to doing a lot of work on my home myself and I have a high standard of quality while being thrifty. That being said, I shopped around a few quotes and came back to FlooringRVA. Long story short...I felt the price I paid for what I wanted was spot on. I had a good experience with the two man crew that came to install the carpet and padding. And 6 months later things are still meeting my expectations. Robert, the owner, was the real reason behind going with FlooringRVA a second time. He personally came to measure and offer suggestions. I preferred to text and Robert made himself available at all times throughout the day when I had questions. I didn't always expect an immediate response but one was always received. I could tell he and his staff were committed to my being satisfied throughout every step in the process and I couldn't find that level of customer focus with any other competitor. For those that want to see, I've attached a few pics of my carpet. Thx FlooringRVA!

The company finally started responding to my messages once I contacted the BBB. They said they…read morewould split the cost of repainting a room (suggested by the painter they provided) and I declined, given the lack of need until this issue arose. They said they would send a check to cover the cost of the painting (previously, the sent the painter out and had him bill their business). The check has yet to arrive and I question whether it will actually cover the cost of the paint job, should it ever actually come.

Measurement to install was a week and it was done perfectly. A small scratch was resolved in 24 hours! Incredible. We have been so pleased with their prices and the job that we are calling them back for more work. Such a reliable company. Stay away from LL Flooring, Floor and Decor and Floor Trader. Floor Store are professionals!

I'm in the middle of project #3 with Walter at the Floor Store in North Chesterfield. So far, so…read moregood, and I expect to give them more business in the future. Projects: 1) Replace carpet in 2 bedroom Charlottesville property -- Project was challenging as floors in the high rise were concrete and extremely uneven. I was able to buy extra plush and durable high quality carpet for the cost of lower quality carpet elsewhere. Very reasonable price, including out-of-town installation. Floor Store returned to adjust carpet at the bath threshold where slanted floors left things looking odd. No excuses, no delays, no extra charges. Just a job well-done. 2) Custom area rug -- Love the sisal-look rug which fits my 13'x13' "everything" room perfectly. Got the high end look and high traffic durability I wanted for a great price. Love this indoor/outdoor rug. 3) Shower and floor tile for Richmond patio home -- Project is (still) in progress. It's been challenging due to general contractor issues and delays of several months (NOT the fault of Floor Store). Walter has been on top of the details, navigating the territory of broken contractor promises, no shows, and changing schedules with flexibility, grace, and professionalism. He's been the calm in the midst of a storm no one saw coming. Truly apprciate his patience, kindness, flexibility, and professionalism.

I was contacted by someone at Costen floors who worked directly w my insurance company (Carlos? Sorry if I don't recall his name). Anyways, he was extremely professional and easy to work with. We picked the flooring sample and scheduled a day for installation. Then came the actual day of the installation. I was told by Costen that the workers could move larger items (couches, tables, etc) out of the room for me and I would only need to remove the smaller items. The workers came earlier and were disgruntle about having to move stuff like what was promised. They were really rude and disrespectful to me, the female home owner, and told me to "stop getting in the way and let us do our work." I explained I just wanted to know their estimated timeline (things like if they planned on starting on one side of the room, whether they're gonna wait for some caulking to dry first, etc) but was told to my face "we don't need to explain every step to you." WOW. It's not like I'm asking for a step by step introduction to carpentry. I just wanted them to update me on their work. I'm paying these people for products and services, not to disrespect me in my own home. Frustrated, I sent my 60 year old father over to talk to them, and they were perfectly polite to him. Eventually the work got done. The floor looked fine but I was not impressed at all by the workers' attitudes, like they were hourly and just wanted to wrap and gtfo. The floors/product was good but the service, not so much. Even though my floor looks fine, I would not work with them again.

I would highly recommend that the installers are watched carefully. There is an unproven incidence…read moreof theft from my home after they left. The Tile Shop has the most beautiful selection of the many tile shops we visited. Despite its…read morereputation for being high end (read expensive), its prices are actually quite competitive even with F&D, which states its prices per unit (instead of per sqft) in order to look cheaper. Even though other places also have trendy selections, the quality of The Tile Shop's pieces (heft, hue, style) is noticeably better. Being a maximizer who has to see everything out there, I eventually learned not to waste my time going anywhere else. Their service is also heads and shoulders above the rest. Paul Carroll at The Tile Shop patiently helped us pick out several types of tile that we needed for multiple projects: backsplash, flooring, fireplace. Both his knowledge of tiling technique and sense of artistry gently steered us in the right direction. His expertise was particularly invaluable because we largely finalized our choices while still in California. When we encountered availability issues with our initial choices, he got creative and recommended terrific alternatives. Because of Paul, we landed with selections that tied well with our color schemes--some of which we would never have thought of on our own. If you need someone with an artistic eye, I highly recommend you speak to Paul.
